This DiFi flap seems like an Althouse post in the making. It has everything we want: Feinstein being mean and entitled, kids being cynically deployed by adults for gross political purposes, climate change foofaraw, left-wing vs. establishment Democrat infighting. Wheee!

Abortion is one of the reasons why the black birthrate has fallen below replacement level. Blacks are 12% of the population but over 30% of all abortions. So having the government pay for abortions especially those of minority women is having the government pay for a genocide. Planned Parenthood, the major US abortion provider, was founded by Margaret Sanger and many other members of the American Eugenics Society. Eugenics was developed as a theory by Francis Galton whose father, grandfather, and great-grandfather all participated in the slave trade by selling guns to slave traders and by buying shares in ships making slave-trading voyages. The mortality on these voyages was usually ten percent and the survivors were sold into slavery in Jamaica and other Caribbean islands. Kamala Harris could be descended from unfortunate people grabbed and sold by the Galtons. Francis Galton used his inherited wealth from the slave trade to work upon and develop the theory of eugenics which from the outset justified his slave-trading ancestors. These ancestors supposedly became wealthy due to their inherited qualities and others became slaves for the same reason, said Galton. And Galton's spiritual descendants at Planned Parenthood have been trying to wipe out the black community in this country by encouraging a disproportionate use of abortion and birth control in that community. It's an important step forward in stopping the black genocide that the government stops participating by paying for the disproportionate numbers of minority abortions.

What the hell happened to Charlie Sykes?

Years ago I used to stream his radio show, now he's completely lost touch with reality.

Solid conservative, logical, and reasoned to insane over Trump? I don't get it-

Two months ago she was complaining she couldn't afford an apartment in D.C.. Now she lives in a luxury apartment, and is IN CHARGE.

So accused rapist Justin Fairfax has been saying how he wants an investigation. Now that a Virginia House committee is going to have a hearing and take the testimony of the two women he is alleged to have sexually assaulted, with an opportunity for him to finally give his side of the story (which he has refused to do thus far), now Fairfax is suddenly not so interested in an investigation and is objecting to it.

Meanwhile, many Dems are objecting too (after having called for his resignation previously), saying that someone else should investigate, such as the FBI (which they know does not have jurisdiction). It is pretty clear that they do not think that the people of Virginia have a right to an inquiry into whether our lieutenant governor is a rapist or not.

One last note:

Storm clouds gather over Venezuela, and Bolton has put America on a war footing.

Like with Chavez, Maduro is protected by Cubans, not Venezuelans.

Mark said...

I finished binge watching The Americans.

I'd give it a B. Almost.

That Elizabeth was a psychopath. Not a pleasant character. Not pleasant to watch.

And that Paige was quite the disappointment. Rather stupid. And also lacking in conscience. Discovers her mother is a killer -- killed so many times she can't say how many, and Paige's response is basically, "meh." Poorly-written character.

Don't see what the big fuss was over the show.

Well it's based on several real life spy families one were the koechers who were Czech intelligence but run by the Soviets they had a lovely social scene (with all that entails)

The bureau counterparts are not that smart, seeing how counterintelligence seems to operating today, that's probably on point.

They nabbed a few small fry, they let ed Howard slip out of the country blamed him on what we later knew was Ames and Hansen's work over 20 years.

More like the sandinistas. The Cubans sent their top men like Ochoa to ride herd over their army. As well as their top spies. Noriega was a free agent he dealt with Castro the cartels the guerillas and us.

narciso said...

But their army is only good at killing civilians and increasingly they have relied on the police squad the faes. How well they would hold out against Colombian or Venezuelan troops is dubious.

Mark said...

The Americans would have been better if it was a British production, I think. Their spy shows have been good. Most Brit stuff is superior to Hollywood these days.

Have moved on to "Forever."

Interesting that Maya Rudolph is on both this and "The Good Place."

Yes there was one series set in the 70s that was really good, the problem is the BBC is even farther to the left of say msnbc

I loved The Americans, but I think the show's writers went astray with the Paige storyline, as well. For pure dramatic purposes, it would have made far more sense to me for her to have a far different reaction to what her parents are, especially her mother, than to just join them in their work. I would have written the entire part about Paige's pastor and his wife far differently- it almost looked to me that the writers, at the last moment, chose not have them killed by Paige's parents- an event that would have put Paige on a different course, especially if she is unsure what happened to them.

gilbar said...

the Paige storyline could have been Awesome, IF the writers
knew Anything about Christianity
had ANY respect for Christianity
Imagine if Paige's Church had been a Real Christian Church; and if Paige became a Real Christian? Then, her mom would have decided that they needed to Kill her, and the dad could have helped her run away?
But then, Christians would have been Protagonists, and we can't have that

As it was, i kept waiting for the Pastor to be revealed as another Agent; but then, we couldn't have that, either: could we?

Reuters just told us where Trump's barrier wall went. "U.S. farmers receive $7.7 billion in trade aid to date: USDA"

So where did Trump's $12 billion for farmers to offset Trump's tariffs come from - since USDA had no program in place? So what USDA program got shorted without Congressional approval? SNAP perhaps? There certainly was no tariff war anywhere in the USDA budget.

Humperdink said...

For many years, the Environmental Working Group (EWG) published a list of the amount of $$$ in farm subsidies each farm in each county received from the USDA. They published it annually. It was very revealing. The two large farms in our county received several hundred thousand every year. It seemed every farmer received something. Then the list magically disappeared.

I found it on Netflix DVD a couple of years ago. Not sure if they still have it. When I watched it again, it didn't seem to have aged very well. Somewhere in the middle of season 1 it went all PC - it was, after all, a CBS show - so after that I lost track of the show.

"Corner Gas" from Canadia/Amazon is funny and is worth a watch. No political correctness, but also no politics really, and the only Special People are two Indians whose Indianity is only mentioned once in relation to scalping tickets. But the plots got gradually stupider as the seasons went on.

About The Americans --

About mid-way through, or maybe a third of the way through, I thought that maybe Philip was saying to himself, "One of these days, I'm going to kill Elizabeth."

She certainly would not have flinched at killing him. Or Paige. Or Henry.

Going back a couple of decades, there is that scene in The Big Country, where Burl Ives tells his wild son Chuck Connors, "One of these days I'm going to have to kill you, like a rabid dog." And then later, that day comes. And he does.

But Philip didn't.

Love Corner Gas. Good comedy and the characters are lovable if not believable. They produced a movie a couple of years after the series ended; now they are doing an animated version with most of the original cast, since Janet Wright (Brent's mom on the show) passed a bit after a year ago.
