What a weird comment. Why would I be sad, explain.
If sexiled doesn't have the explanation, I'm sure her Sergeant at Arms Michele Bachmann has the answer - with her "deep expose" on anti-American activity!
A U.S. Coast Guard officer is a self-proclaimed white supremacist who drafted a hit list of prominent Democrats and media personalities, part of a plot to “murder innocent civilians on a scale rarely seen in this country,” federal prosecutors wrote in a court filing this week.
Lt. Christopher Paul Hasson was arrested Feb. 15 on firearm and opioid possession charges, but a filing Monday in U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland warns that those alleged violations “are the proverbial tip of the iceberg.”
“The defendant is a domestic terrorist, bent on committing acts dangerous to human life,” prosecutors wrote.
“According to prosecutors, Hasson described himself “as a White Nationalist for over 30 years and advocated for ‘focused violence’ in order to establish a white homeland.”
“Hasson conducted online searches for pro-Russian, neo-fascist and neo-Nazi literature between 2017 and 2019, and took inspiration from the manifesto of Anders Breivik, a far right-wing domestic terrorist who killed 77 people — mostly children — in two coordinated attacks in Norway in 2011, according to the filing.
Hasson’s online activity since January 2017 showed him conducing internet searches for phrases such as, “most liberal senators,” “where do most senators live in dc,” “do senators have ss [secret service] protection” and “are supreme court justices protected,” the filing states.
He also searched for MSNBC host and former Republican congressman Joe Scarborough “after viewing a headline claiming that Scarborough referred to the President as ‘the worst ever,’” according to the filing.
Prosecutors contend that on Jan. 17, Hasson also “compiled a list of prominent Democratic Congressional leaders, activists, political organizations, and MSNBC and CNN media personalities,” according to the filing.
Hasson’s hit allegedly included “gillibran” — prosecutors say it’s presumably U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York — as well as “poca warren,” perhaps Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, plus “Sen blumen jew,” a slur for Sen. Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut, among others, according to the filing.
Gillibrand and Warren are seeking the Democratic presidential nomination.“
“Hasson wrote that “liberalist/globalist ideology” was destroying “traditional peoples” and warned that “much blood will have to be spilled to get whitey off the couch,” prosecutors wrote.
According to the court filing, he added, “For some no amount of blood will be enough” because they "will die as will the traitors who actively work toward our demise. Looking to Russia with hopeful eyes or any land that despises the west’s liberalism.””
“How strange that we didn’t hear about this from the DOJ or some federal source.” Your own cut and paste says it was FEDERAL prosecutors who brought the charges.....
“Your own cut and paste says it was FEDERAL prosecutors who brought the charges.....”
Read more carefully. I said why did we not HEAR about this case from the DOJ? I didn’t say anything about who brought the charges, of COURSE it was the Feds who brought the charges, duh.
I don't mean to be a contrarian, but I am fonder of the black-and-white Althouse Rats, rather than the color Althouse Rats 2.0.
Bolder lines, intense dots for eyes: the black-and-white subjects had an air of mysterious purpose about them. They would steal a slice of pizza if you weren't looking.
The new Althouse Rats make me think somewhat of Margaret Keane. Harmless. Sentimental.
Perhaps the inevitable artistic breakthrough to Rats 3.0 will make it all worthwhile.
And really, CNN and the others are too consumed with Jussie to spend time on this story. Can’t blame them for missing this story amongst all the examples of Deplorables doing all their hate crimes. Priorities!
“And really, CNN and the others are too consumed with Jussie to spend time on this story. Can’t blame them for missing this story amongst all the examples of Deplorables doing all their hate crimes. Priorities!”
And what are the majority of commenters talking about on this very blog today? Jussie Smollett, I guess their priorities are messed up too.
Is it the same navy prosecutors that went after senior chief Gallagher of the seals or the ones who looked the other way when an NCIS agent was having an affair with a terrorist smuggler, yes I'm not impressed.
Royal ass Inga, I swear I am trying to follow your logic.
But are you saying after filing charges the federal government should have demanded column inches on front pages and editorial time to push the news of their arrest of a Coast Guarder?
What happened to the presumption of innocence that you would want the full force of the government to unfairly taint the jury pool?
Or are you saying the MSM didn't pay enough attention to an issue you prefer and that is the federal government's problem?
He does seem a bit ambitious, maybe he saw winter soldier too many times, so a career coat guard is interested in firearms and might have had need for pain medicine.
Dummy Birkel. The DOJ has something called a Press Release when they’ve indicted people of such high profile crimes. That is what is usually done. It wasn’t in this case.
I would suggest anyone interested in similar results look up Jason Fung on YouTube. His explanation and plan makes sense and has worked for me. It might work for you as well.
This is mostly not a brag but sharing knowledge you might find useful.

Stupid comment. The guy did nothing. He said he would like to do something, just like a loudmouth down at the corner bar.
“The difference is conservatives don't defend the Coast Guarder, and after a trial and conviction support a firing squad at sunrise.”
Why lie about liberals defending anyone shooting someone? Not one liberal I know defends shooting one’s political opponents. What a pathetic comment, Iowan.
How many wall street firms defended Gitmo detainees not a few of them went on to blow themselves up in Iraq or plan the underwear bomber plot or direct the attack on Benghazi, Eric holders firm when it wasnt flacking to oxycodone was one such firm.
Something I've noticed in the past couple of days -- AOC Derangement Syndrome. Specifically, a knee-jerk reaction among some partisans who automatically mock her and take the opposition position if she says or does something, even if she might be right.
Even more specifically, all of these people who suddenly are all in favor of crony capitalism and giving billions in public goodies to the richest corporation on the planet, while the rest of us shlubs have to pick up the slack with higher taxes on us.
Personally, as I've said previously, we need an AOC here in Arlington so Amazon goes away from here too.
Except when tea partiers spoke out against crony capitalists they were shouted down, seeing as states like New York are doing everything to shut down any form of enterprise, that Is the green new deal in action, I dont give her the benefit of the diubt.

And hopkinson was in communication with two us senators before he did his deed, now admittedly there are psychos of all stripes like the django wannabe in the LAPD or his opposite number in the Washington navy yard, but they dont dwell too much on that. He had almost as egregious a Walker mitty complex as private maytag.
...And now we learn, from testimony that is still being kept secret from the public, that Ohr admitted to Congress last year that he also took Russia information that his wife, Nellie, assembled against Trump on a computer drive and delivered that to the FBI in 2016 — a revelation that has raised fresh concerns in Congress about a possible conflict of interest.
Nellie Ohr worked for Fusion GPS and, for a time, worked on the same Clinton-financed Russian research project as Steele, according to the testimony.
DOJ ethics rules forbid department officials from working in cases where a spouse has a financial interest, a prohibition that Bruce Ohr said he knew about when he forwarded his wife’s evidence to the FBI....

Your taxes as a NYC resident would have been $13G lower over 25 years ON NET if Amazon relocated. Even NYT has to admit it's a win, the question is how big a win it would have been for NYC.
Depends on the browser. It's usually in the settings. I use firefox and have a plugin that puts a little "JS" icon on the tool bar that I can toggle on and off:
I have only used it in FireFox, but it claims to support opera and chrome as well:
I was just reading an article in the NYT about people who are upset with the plans for Obama's museum because it won't include a traditional presidential library, but instead promises a digital one. One of the reasons given perfectly sums up how fucked up things are right now: "It opens the door,” he added, “to a truly terrible Trump library.”
I am a dummy (sic) because the MSM got a press release from the federal government about an indictment and that means the federal government has not advertised the indictment to Royal ass Inga's specifications?
Again, that set of statements cannot be made logically sound.
"It’s also The Resistance, whose members fancy themselves fashioned after the Resistance in WWII. This current Resistance is ridiculous in that conceit, but I think their attempt involves a yearning for the heroic. It also involves much else, of course, including a hefty dose of virtue-signaling narcissism as well as a shallow knowledge of history. But a desire to be involved in a group that’s dedicated to a great cause is part of it."

You are a dummy because the MSM DID NOT get a press release from the DOJ. This indictment was discovered and reported to the press by these guys. Wow, you’re very slow on the uptake.

I used to have a cat named Frisky, but I rarely name rats unless they are part of a mob.
"Rats," of course, is a an important part of the mobster rule: "Never rat on your friends, and always keep your mouth shut."
Donald often slips back into this slang when he falls back to his days of rubbing shoulders with the Cosa Nostra mobs of New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia.
Remember when the president attacked his former personal attorney, Michael Cohen, in a tweet, calling him a "Rat." Cohen, who pleaded guilty to campaign finance and other violations, claimed that Trump "directed" him to make hush money payments to two women out of concern about how the allegations of the affairs would affect the 2016 election if they became public.
@wholelottasplainin’, you ain’t from around these parts, are you?
Arlington is a close-in suburb of Washington, DC — in fact it once was part of the District of Columbia many years ago. Between government jobs in Washington, Defense jobs in the nearby Pentagon, government jobs in Arlington itself, and government contracting jobs the employment rate for anyone already living in Arlington with any job skills at all is so close to 100% as makes no difference. So it’s not as though there are local people desperate for work. Meanwhile the traffic during rush hour is already second only to LA in its approximation to total gridlock. Where will the people live? Homes hastily thrown up during WWII and likely to blow over in a strong enough wind go for well north of $700,000. If you don’t believe me just get on realtor.com. How will they get to work if the streets are already packed and the subway is as unreliable as Washington’s Metro is?
Arlington does not need an Amazon campus. I could support it wholeheartedly if they put it in Sterling, or Ashburn, or Hayfield or Chantilly or Stafford County or Fauquier County, But for God’s sake NOT Arlington.
I'm watching "Midway" (1976) on Amazon. So many old movie stars and old character characters. The Japanese are portrayed by every AJ actor in America at the time. Must have been weird for them to play enemies of America. Their portrayal was subtley racist, IMHO, but more honest than earlier movies. I think the lip sync for Toshiro Mifune was done by Paul Fries.
It's one of my favorite films there were some melodramatic elements and fictional characters like chRleton Heston and Eddie al ert jrs generational struggle. I thought the Japanese characters were treated respectfully.
The time to make the determination was before the deal was made, so the house is going to review every contract a corporation makes with a locality through the legislature good luck there.

It is not unreasonable to suppose that a person who believes it is acceptable to do that would not draw the line at shooting political opponents. Anyway, remember the Bernie Bro who shot Steve Scalise in an attempt to assassinate a good part of the GOP delegation to the US congress? His name was James Hodgkinson.

A) Today I am outraged for my friend @JussieSmollett. He was viciously attacked in my hometown of Chicago. They threw bleach on him and put a noose around his neck. Racism and homophobia are very much alive, people.
Jussie Smollett royally messed up, in what’s beginning to look more like a cry for help than anything else. I don’t see how sending him to prison accomplishes that so I hope it doesn’t reach that point. 8:25 PM - 19 Feb 2019

You are confused. It is an AOC Amusement Syndrome. She is a kook. Her ignorance is amusing. Most of us took positions antithetical to hers long ago because we are not socialists. We’ve seen that socialism doesn’t work. And you?
Narciso, I just saw Selleck playing one of the grunts shooting at the Zeroes as they attacked Johnston Atoll. There was a lot of artistry to the SFX in those days. No CGI. How to make a single mock Zero look like thirty Zeroes? A lot of Piper Cubs shown from a distance is my guess. OTH, I could see mountains in the distance on atolls that (in real life) couldn't have been more than few hundred meters long.
Records are meant to be broken. There will be dumber crimes than the ones Jussie Smollett committed. The media hopes one happens soon, and that a hetero white male cmmits it. I would caution the media against playing up the murder of a pretty young girl. Twice in recent times the murderer turned out to be an illegal immigrant.
And me? I made that clear. There is no reason for a bunch of give-aways to Amazon. And we certainly don't need any Amazon Overlords here in Arlington. Or all of the hyper-density, urbanization, over-development in an area that is already over-populated and over-filled with 20-story buildings.
You might think it a great idea to give Bezos all sorts of goodies that the little people don't get, but I don't. If AOC can kill Amazon in Arlington, please bring her here.
Since there was a two minute hate against John Wayne from 1971! Its notable his part in a lesser noticed war film in harm's way, based on a novel by James Bassett directed by otto preminger it's not a rah rah type film he plays a navy captain who's life is turned up side DOJ by pearl harbor because he dis the right thing? What is it you think they are given by "lucky to be here" NYC oh repetitious one?
I don't see how it financially helps Arlington Co. that much, since few of the employees will be able to afford to live in it and there's little room for new housing. It'll produce higher property taxes from the aging high rises of Crystal City, which I've heard has vacancies (possibly because of the traffic).
Perhaps they can put half the employees on the graveyard shift.
Exciting in the Russia/collusion front today: - Bruce Ohr apparently delivered his wife's research for Fusion GPS to the FBI before the filing of the Carter Page FISA warrant application was filed. Including material from Darth Blumenthal and Cody Sherrer, and the press, this apparently makes at least five instances where Clinton funded opposition research was delivered to or acquired by the FBI during summer and fall of 2016. - McCabe essentially shot himself in the foot by going on TV to promote his book. He essentially admitted lying to Congress, can't get his stories straight, and admitted to violating his oath of office. - Rosenstein has announced that he will leave next month, and his successor has already been named. - A lot of rumors today that Mueller is shutting his investigation down. Looks like his feet were out to the fire by Whitaker, and now AG Barr. And was told that open ended fishing expeditions are not allowed by IC rules. Rosenstein was covering for him. That is over now, and hence, the strong rumor that the investigation will likely be over w/I a couple of weeks, likely before Rosenstein leaves. - DoJ IC rules don't call for an IC to report to Congress or the people, but rather the AG (Barr), who gets to decide what to report and what not to. Which very likely means that the Dems are not going to get all of the anti Trump innuendo that they have been expecting. Schiff, etc, are likely going to be quite torqued by that. My guess is that the report won't do much beyond what the Senate just announced: no Trump/Russia collusion found.
I think the lip sync for Toshiro Mifune was done by Paul Fries.
Paul Frees did much more voice-over and dubbing work than conventional acting. He was also the voice of Boris Badinov and Fearless Leader. It's possible Frees got the job dubbing Mifune because millions of moviegoers were already conditioned to accept his "oriental" voice as stereotypical because of the many Toho Kaiju movies he worked on for King Brothers Productions.

The taxpayers of New York weren't giving Amazon anything. They were forgoing future corporate taxes so that there would be more income taxes from the new worlforce. New York stood to lose nothing and gain 25,000 new txpayers. I know. Econ is hard.
I am against Amazon getting a special, carved out, tax break to locate anything, anywhere.
Gee, I own a small business. Where is my tax break? And where are the tax breaks for my other fellow business owners? The logic for the tax break escapes me.
25,00 jobs? They will be created somewhere, wherever Amazon decides to plant their flag.
"I lost 7 pounds in 6 weeks. I would suggest anyone interested in similar results look up Jason Fung on YouTube. His explanation and plan makes sense and has worked for me. It might work for you as well."
Without looking at more than a few seconds of Fung, I think what you're talking about is ultra low carb. I don't know how low you had to go, but I think low-carb works at least at first, but eventually your body figures out how to maintain its weight and also you can just get dispirited about the way you're having to eat. So what do you do after the quick weight loss to keep it all from coming back? Is the maintenance that you have to do on low carb just too sad to keep up?
I do choose to use only the more unobtrusive ad format. I could have ads between the posts (like Instapundit), but I hate how that looks.
There are different ways to be a professional writer — or somewhere on the continuum between professional and amateur — and as readers you probably don't understand where I feel that I am and where I want to be.
I rarely even see ads. It's like those traffic signs that they put up in Madison that flash your speed at you. After a short while, I stop looking, just part of the background view that my brain doesn't have to process.
Personally, as I've said previously, we need an AOC here in Arlington so Amazon goes away from here too.

100% of people in opposition to the NYC Amazon site don't do tech work, can't do tech work, and are proud of it. The alternative is that they are in some other city. Or that they are lunatics.
How F-ing bad would I or hundreds of my NY tri-state metro area friends and colleagues have loved to kill each other getting VP jobs at AMZN? Even libby types have, if for a moment, had the wool pulled from their eyes over this crisis. Look for some incumbents to lose next chance they get.
FTR, New York wasn't going to pay Amazon a penny. They were just going to collect $7 billion instead of $10 billion in taxes over the next interval. Amazon is (WAS, damn you) going to spend more than that on roads and subways in the vicinity. People like this should be under guardianship.
Hey Inga, if you're finished with the Coastie Nazi, how about doing Monica Witt, the alleged former AF intel office who defected to Iran and was indicted by a grand jury on feb 13 as a spy for Iran. Or do you only do right wing nut jobs and ignore the left wing nut jobs?
Jesus was guilty. He was God-Man full of sin and he was tried, convicted and executed by his father whom forsooked him on Mt Carmel with the two other criminals. In this way, the Christ bought and paid for our get out of hell free card.
"Rats," of course, is a an important part of the mobster rule
Gadfly, I'll let Althouse do the OED thing, but to briefly dispel your ignorance, "ratting" as in betrayal has been English slang for more years than you've had blowjobs. And, since you're such a simp, let me point out also that to be betrayed doesn't mean you're guilty, unless Jesus was guilty.
Also, though I don't mind her pulling the train on this one, IMHO, Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez had little to do with this, it was chiefly local politics, inside baseball. Bezos pulled out after the NY Senate leader (maliciously, revengefully, to shaft Cuomo, who sees what I see) named a fanatical BANANA critic of the $3 billion deal to a state board that could scuttle it.
There is no denying that privilege has its benefits. Benefits that others are denied.
And when it is government choosing the privileged, government choosing the winners and losers, that is closer to socialism and communism than just leaving the free market on an even playing field for everyone.
So, Howard, PDJT is like Jesus? From your painful near-sincerity, surely that is an endorsement? It's always nice to see you say something you appear to mean.
This Amazon chat got me thinking about Kelo. I even checked it out on Wikipedia. First thing I noticed is there are only 3 Justices left from that time and it doesn't seem to me that long ago. Anyway, a lot of the Amazon arguments seem similar to those during the Kelo case.
Vermont does its best to keep anybody from doing any development. It’s fine, but the kids mostly all leave as soon as they graduate college. It’s amazing when you go to Florida that you see so many children, in Vermont, not so many. If you can keep a lid on development, it works out great for people who already “have theirs.”
If you want to see where people are having babies, it’s the slice of America that the left mocks as “Jesusland."
NYC is now saying “take it or leave it” on the full tax load and Amazon is saying “leave it.” Cutting taxes that are too high is not socialism, it’s business.
You guys start by believing that the money is already yours, even money that will never show up now that Amazon has withdrawn, and anybody who pays less is taking from you, whereas we believe that the money is ours until the government takes it.
It seems also like the people who are sick of growth might be on board with having the capability to limit immigration. Alas, no.

Fake until proven true.
All the "evidence" against Hasson I've heard so far, and mostly from NPR this morning, is that he had a list of names of people he doesn't like on a spreadsheet, a cache of 15 guns (MERCY!), has visited "white nationalist" websites (how white nationalist? Daily Stormer? Daily Caller? Daily Wire?), and an email DRAFT, which was apparently not sent to anyone.

https://www.navytimes.com/news/your-navy/2019/02/21/prosecutors-coast-guard-officer-plotted-to-murder-innocent-civilians/
Frisky rats can climb stairs.
(Dumbo rats have larger, rounder, ears set higher on their heads than ordinary rats.}
“Hasson's attorney declined to comment on Wednesday. His arrest was first noted by researchers from George Washington University.”
How strange that we didn’t hear about this from the DOJ or some federal source.
Rats celebrate Christmas!
Note how much the little grey rat that shows up at 0:38 looks like the one Althouse drew.
Gillibrand and Warren are seeking the Democratic presidential nomination.“
https://www.navytimes.com/news/your-navy/2019/02/21/prosecutors-coast-guard-officer-plotted-to-murder-innocent-civilians/
“The same day he made the list, prosecutors say Hasson used the search engine Google for the following phases:
“what if trump illegally impeached”
“best place in dc to see congress people”
“where in dc to (sic) congress live”
“civil war if trump impeached.”
Sounds like some comments I’ve read right here in the comments sections.
This sounds to me that someone has finally realized that civilized society needs common behavioral rules in order to exist.

Or worse. People who don't attack anyone may never get caught.
I am Laslo.
I'm guessing it's overcharging:

The Supreme Court ruled unanimously Wednesday that state governments cannot impose excessive court fees, fines and forfeitures as a means of raising money.
The decision, which united the court’s conservatives and liberals, makes clear that the Eighth Amendment’s prohibition against “excessive fines” applies to the states.
Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, just back in court after lung cancer surgery, wrote the majority opinion and announced it from the bench.
I'm surprised the Ginsburg sighting seems to have made barely a ripple.

Welcome back.
What was it that caused your absence?
I read people writing that you had written something especially silly.
What was it?
Royal ass Inga,
I swear I am trying to follow your logic.
Help me understand.

Carry on.
Drug addict, Coast Guarder arrested for drug and weapon charges, also had drug induced rantings about killing public figures.
vs. a Bernie Bro that actually stalked and attempted to assassinate congressmen at their morning baseball practice.
The difference is conservatives don't defend the Coast Guarder, and after a trial and conviction support a firing squad at sunrise.

Except when tea partiers spoke out against crony capitalists they were shouted down, seeing as states like New York are doing everything to shut down any form of enterprise, that Is the green new deal in action, I dont give her the benefit of the diubt.

...And now we learn, from testimony that is still being kept secret from the public, that Ohr admitted to Congress last year that he also took Russia information that his wife, Nellie, assembled against Trump on a computer drive and delivered that to the FBI in 2016 — a revelation that has raised fresh concerns in Congress about a possible conflict of interest.

"Rat" Trump works for me.

You are confused. It is an AOC Amusement Syndrome. She is a kook. Her ignorance is amusing. Most of us took positions antithetical to hers long ago because we are not socialists. We’ve seen that socialism doesn’t work. And you?
And one of Tom sellecks first roles, (I think Rockford was his debut as lance)
And you?
It took painstaking work but it looked real compare that with pearl harbor which tried a similar ensemble nearly 30 years later.

Exciting in the Russia/collusion front today:
- Bruce Ohr apparently delivered his wife's research for Fusion GPS to the FBI before the filing of the Carter Page FISA warrant application was filed.
If I heard Smollett correctly, "today we have these fear mongrels."

The taxpayers of New York weren't giving Amazon anything. They were forgoing future corporate taxes so that there would be more income taxes from the new worlforce. New York stood to lose nothing and gain 25,000 new txpayers.
I know. Econ is hard.
@FullMoon, the proper response is that Smollett will get plenty of lost histric help in prison.
Want to create jobs? Lower everyone's taxes.
Screw Amazon.
"She choose to stop it entirely a few weeks ago."
I chose to put it back.
Pro tip: Basing your politics and attitudes on the color of your skin isn’t just wrong and dangerous when white people do it.

"Even more specifically, all of these people who suddenly are all in favor of crony capitalism and giving billions in public goodies to the richest corporation on the planet"
The taxpayers of New York weren't giving Amazon anything. They were forgoing future corporate taxes so that there would be more income taxes from the new worlforce. New York stood to lose nothing and gain 25,000 new txpayers.
I know. Econ is hard.

Reposted for typo and compactness.
There is no denying that privilege has its benefits. Benefits that others are denied.
And when it is government choosing the privileged, government choosing the winners and losers, that is closer to socialism and communism than just leaving the free market on an even playing field for everyone.
Who are the real leftists?
Howard -- your theology is, well, not entirely original. But it is certainly NOT Christian. None of the Christian traditions believe what you posited.

Then they don't believe the bible, which is what caused Nietzsche to declare that G_d is Dead.
Lewis Wetzel: "fe: Midway. OMG, I think I saw a very young Eric Estrada playing a swabee on an aircraft carrier."
Your comment is an outrage!!
Estrada played a navy fighter pilot flying OFF a carrier (I believe it was Fighter Squadron 8 off the Hornet), not a swabee ON a Carrier.
Lets keep this straight people.
Jesus was fulfilling the prophecy in Isiah, like revelation follows Isiah 45.
Alas, no.

He knew no sin, so he took on sin, he had to die, yet he asked his father if there was another way.
So the GE researcher found the state secret of a public indictment that was otherwise hidden.
And I am the dummy (sic) because you are confused by basic facts.
“Hasson's arrest on Feb. 15 was first noted by Seamus Hughes, the deputy director of the Program on Extremism at George Washington University.”
