One of the best elements of President Trump's State of the Union speech is that he used the expression illegal aliens, which is the correct legal expression.

The way things are going, the Virginia GOP may have won the luckiest coin toss in its history. Because Kirk Cox is only the Speaker of the House of Delegates due to one of the delegate races being tied after the recount, and incumbent Republican delegate David Yancey was seated after he won a coin toss.

Only in this state.

We are in an era of witch-hunts.

The major witch-hunt is being done by Robert "The FBI Whitewasher" Mueller.

Like the girls in Salem who saw spectra that nobody else could see, Christopher Steele saw Russian Intelligence insiders that nobody else can see. Mueller is like the investigating magistrates in Salem, investigating the hallucinations of the girls (Steele).

Young people in blackface are like the spectra themselves. They are like black cats howling and jumping around at night, scaring people. The spectra are a menace to the community's peace and harmony. The spectra must be hunted down and exterminated.

Prior to cataract surgery, I was very impaired driving @ night, particularly in the rain. Now it's a piece o' cake. However, shortly after surgery on both eyes I was driving @ night and my sight seemed even worse. I returned to my eye doc. I had what is known as a "secondary" cataract. That is not an actual cataract but a film that can form over the new lens. A quick and painless laser treatment cured it. This is not uncommon.

Bernalillo County just held a mail-in only election for raising real estate taxes to fund Albuquerque Public School projects and operations. There were three separate initiatives and all three were turned down with an average of about two to one against. This is something that has never happened before.

My personal thoughts about the APS is that these people should not be allowed to handle money, but that is just me. I think these results go deeper and the good people of Albuquerque are just a bit alarmed by what we have been hearing and reading since the last election's Democratic sweep of state offices. The legislature seems to be bent on raising taxes all around on general principle and they will figure out later what to use all this new money for.

I really think 2020 looks to be a good year for the Republicans in New Mexico.

It was on the news tonight that our new governor, Michelle Lujan Grisham, for some reason has now released a campaign video she thought was too silly to use in the campaign. It shows her storming through a building under construction and busting through several drywall walls, and the news anchor said this has been very popular on the internet. He did not say why.

The calls for Northam to resign are still there but they seem a bit muted. Are all blackface outfits created equally? It seems to me that dressing up as a minstrel character is obviously racist in intent, but dressing up as Michael Jackson or some rapper could have been done with innocent intent--especially in the 80's when the rules against blackface were not yet codified in the penal statutes...... Do cross dressers dress up as Diana Ross? If so, do cross dressers have protected status immunity status? I'm so old I can remember when dressing up as a woman was considered more scandalous than dressing up in blackface. I'm bound to confess, however, I never knew any cross dressers or blackface performers. Maybe it's something that's more common down south or in gay communities.

Quite right. At that point, it goes to eleven. Also, unless you are a hardened warrior, you will at that point be highly disconcerted by having an amputated member and a pint of blood in your mouth. Talk about spit or swallow!

Would you rather be raped vaginally, or have your nose broken? Would you rather be raped anally, or have a finger cut off? Would you rather be raped orally, or end up with a pound or two of his DNA in and on you, instead of a spoonful - and then face his wrath to boot? I have no personal knowledge but I understand that you're not likely to bleed to death from having your penis amputated. John Wayne Bobbitt didn't die. Your attacker may be thoroughly distracted but then again you may not have bitten hard enough to do real damage but only to cause him pain and anger.

Then, let's assume that does the job and nothing physical happens to you further. How about the publicity? Not to mention any divided thoughts she may have had about the future of a relationship. Submitting may have seemed her best option. Let him finish, then it's over. The standard of women dying to protect their honor or expiate its loss is long, long extinct. Most women, many here being honorable exceptions, don't understand what honor is.

What happened might also be this. Ms Tyson fellated him willingly enough, but at the end, she didn't care to take his ejaculation in her mouth, so he held her head down in his lap until he was finished. Some women, on an even day they would find that erotic, on an odd day, rape. Or depending on whether he called afterwards.

Jill Abramson: 'I certainly didn’t plagiarize in my book'

by Naomi Lim
Washington Examiner February 06, 2019 11:19 PM

"Former New York Times executive editor Jill Abramson was defiant in the face of plagiarism allegations Wednesday.

Abramson, who was abruptly fired from the legacy newspaper in 2014, has been promoting her new book Merchants of Truth. But her book, providing insight into the business of news, was ripped on Wednesday by multiple accusations she had either made serious errors or had included similar phrases to other works."

'...Abramson's publisher, Simon & Schuster, called the book "exhaustively researched and meticulously sourced" in a statement issued Wednesday night. The company stopped short of pushing back on the plagiarism allegations, however, saying, "If upon further examination changes or attributions are deemed necessary we stand ready to work with the author in making those revisions."'

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/jill-abramson-i-certainly-didnt-plagiarize-in-my-book

Abramson's veracity is probably best measured her previous assertion that:

"I want people to say that I protected and expanded the depth and breadth of our news report," she said, "and some version of what [former Times executive editor] Abe Rosenthal said he wanted on his tombstone was that he kept the paper straight. It's not just the paper now, but I want them to think I kept the place straight."

Hello bright eyes!

So here it is, 5:51am, and I'm wondering what it is with these political guys in Virginia. Black face and forced sodomy, who the heck does that sort of thing. Particularly the black face thing; I'm just a little older than those two and don't remember seeing someone in black face, or even someone suggesting it might be a fun and good thing to do. And if they were willing to do these things in one part of their lives, you know there has to be other, equally as offensive things they do. Yet they are elected to state wide office.

Democrats are fleeing VA like rats fleeing a sinking ship. How long until the governor of Virginia declares himself to be a Republican? That'll fix the narrative.

stevew said: "So here it is, 5:51am, and I'm wondering what it is with these political guys in Virginia."

The curious thing is, these blackface guys aren't supposed to exist. Racially insensitive southern Democrats fled the party in 1968, to vote for Wallace and then Nixon, never to return and to form the new racist Republican backbone. Then they fled the party again in 1980, to vote for Reagan. And in 1994 to vote for Gingrich...and 2000 to vote for W...and in 2008 to vote against Obama...and then 2016. After all that fleeing, it seems impossible that there could be even one good ole boy left who's even voting Democratic, let alone running their flagship state.

I have been blogging with only one eye for months.

The cataract was much worse in the left eye and though I could seen light and shapes, I could not read with it.

So now, in the week before I get the right eye fixed, I am one-eyed in the reverse.

What you should look for is a change a week from now when I will be able to read with two eyes for the first time in a long time.

The one-eyed blogging during in recent months was through an eye that has a cataract, so what I have this week is an improvement.

"I have been blogging with only one eye for months."

And yet nary a typo nor incoherent (to me) post!

I have an eye condition called Cogan's Dystrophy. It is managed pretty well with non-prescription medication. Episodically this underlying condition will lead to epithelial erosion in one or both eyes, which is similar to getting a bad scratch of your eye. When that happens my eyes hurt, water, and are hypersensitive to light. I can't read, never mind type and write, until the damage is repaired (8-24 hours).

Pretty amazing to me that you've been able to carry on so well with significantly less than full vision in even one eye.

I bet the big reveal after the second eye is done will be amazing.

The 76% of Americans who liked the SOTU were those who watched it. What percentage of Americans watched it? Certainly not 100% of Americans, so your statement "Seventy Six (76%) percent of Americans approved of Trump's speech" is a misrepresentation of the truth.

I've seen it reported that about 47 million Americans watched the SOTU, out of approximately 327 million American adults as of February 2018. That's a little over 14% of all adult Americans who watched the SOTU. 76% of 47 million is about 36 million people, and 36 million adults is roughly 11% of 327 million adult Americans. So, about 11% of adult Americans liked Trump's SOTU address.
