I wouldn't want to be a minority in a country where people like this are the majority. Look at the way the Palestinians treat the Christian Palestinians in their midst. They're far more apt to apply power to truth than the reverse.
I'm old enough to remember a time when so many women were elected to Congress it was going to bring about a new decorum. Things were going to be much nicer because the ladies have arrived.

First, I want to remind all readers that near the top of this page, I posted this morning a comment to the effect of, "I warned you all about Rashida Tlaib..."
But I want to take this question from Elliott A on, because it is a perfectly good, on-point question.
It is also a very minor point of pride for me, because when the primary for the Michigan 13th was opening up, I won a bet with another Althouse member in connection with that primary (an honorable bet, settled very honorably after I won).
So the shocking thing is that Rashida Tlaib was sort of an "establishment" candidate in that primary. It's too complicated to go into here, but the MI-13 was John Conyers' seat before he resigned in disgrace over a pileup of office harassment and impropriety allegations forced him out at the dawn of "#MeToo. There were technically two elections with two primaries. An election for the months-long remainder of Conyers' term, and a big primary for the full term in the 2018 general.
Rashida Tlaib focused on the big one, the full term election. It was (I thought) a risky move, but it paid off for her. Somebody else won the short-term election, but she won the primary for the full term. In that District, Democrats win with 70-80-90%. It's all in the primary. (Tlaib won the general with 85% over a completely unknown black Republican.)
So about that primary. Rashid Tlaib was one in a six-candidate race. Her main competitor was Detroit City Council President Brenda Jones. Two other "name" candidates were John Conyers' nephew, Ian Conyers, and also the illegitimate son of the infamous Detroit mayor Coleman A. Young. Born "Joel Loving," he has changed his name to Coleman Young II.
Tlaib won that primary by about 1,000 votes, and with just 1% more than her 2nd place rival, Brenda Jones. (Jones won the short-term race.) I've forgotton the total numbers, but I think that Tlaib had about 36% of the vote. And as everybody knew, winning the primary meant that she would be the next U.S. Rep. from the MI-13th.
Tlaib had some visibility, and was a bit of a darling for the hard progressive left. She won a Southwest Detroit-district seat in the Michigan House after she graduated from Cooley Law School, was term-limited out of the Michigan House, then ran for the state senate and lost the primary. And then she worked for the Sugar Law Center (a sort of left-wing public advocacy and litigation firm, where they get involved in contentious political litigation) while she waited for the next political opportunity. It came with Conyers' resignation. She got involved in a lot of political protests and other stunts before running for Congress, as I noted more than a year ago in other comments. She was always available to reporters and interviewers for political comments on whatever was going on. So the left wing media liked her, even more than the City Council President Brenda Jones.
Her challengers in the primary were
