"We — the people who worked on Bernie 2016... request a meeting... to discuss the issue of sexual violence and harasmment on the 2016 campaign...."

Oh, no! It's a letter from "more than two dozen women and men who worked on Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign" — obtained by Politico and reprinted under the headline, "Bernie alumni seek meeting to address 'sexual violence' on ‘16 campaign/The signees are looking to change what they call a pervasive culture of toxic masculinity in the campaign world."
The signees did not describe specific instances of “sexual violence and harassment” that occurred on the campaign....

Several people who signed the letter... stressed that they hoped their letter would not be reduced to reinforcing the “Bernie Bro” caricature...

People involved in the effort said they signed the letter before Sanders (I-Vt.) officially launched a 2020 presidential bid in the hopes that it would lead to real action if and when the senator begins assembling his team....

The signees range from field organizers to some of the top officials on the 2016 campaign, according to multiple people involved in the effort. Some of the signees do not expect to join any 2020 campaign while others are open to joining a potential Sanders 2020 bid....
I don't know these people but if I were researching the story, I'd be skeptical about their motives. Other potential candidates — notably Senators who are not white males — are looking to hire people to work on their campaigns, and I think there's an effort — I see it in the NYT — to get the Bernie Sanders (and Joe Biden and Beto O'Rourke) to realize this is not their time. To my ear, that letter says, Bernie, get out of the way — you see how difficult we can make this for you (and for any white man)?

Watch for this same move by a few former Hillary staffers.

Hmm, a democrat false flag operation.

Next thing you know, some aspiring staffers will be complaining about Bernie's vast real estate holdings.

The ultimate fraud is #MeToo, not candidates, who are only using it.

Bernie bros before Bernie hos.
Thus it was always.

Looking forward to having some sealed divorce records magically being released.

Smoking pot as an adolescent or having illegals as domestic staff are no longer operative.

It's going to be Kamela and Spartacus (for VP).
I'm planning to say I told you so (in about a year).

Interesting. "MeToo" issues arose with Bill Clinton (long before the term was coined) but for many people it was OK because at least with Clinton, women (and others) were making progress. For 2020, it may be possible for activists to argue that any white male candidate, and perhaps any candidate who is not a fairly young woman of colour, will face MeToo issues that are difficult to survive. If such issues arise in the campaign of a woman of colour, they will be more survivable.
There is a logic to Dems rallying around Harris. If you are trying to exploit and nurture a coalition of those who are not represented by Trump, not properly respected by him, possibly (is this meme still alive?) hated by him, then a woman of colour is ideal. Of course, I think Trump is not a hater at all--certainly less of one than the Trump haters.

How many women, or for that matter, women and men that are into "MeToo"? Perhaps a small percentage of the population.

PoundMeToo. Or do you say hashtag?

Why is the Democrat party going to let "Sanders (I-VT)"
Run as a Democrat?

Yeah..but how do you feel about that, since that is all that matters?

Translation: Only hire women, Bernie, or we will destroy your campaign.

This #MeToo is looking less and less as a nod toward justice and more as a crowbar for women to extort plum assignments for their use when their actual competence and qualifications are not so clear.

Tactically, the more incompetent and shrill women who are leading the fortunes of the Democrats in 2020, the better. They need to lose badly because they are very slow learners.

As a PRINCIPLE, something Althouse strenuously avoids, this is a horrible precedent to set as a society and the consequences of this and the obvious backlash to this is easily predictable.

Women, having been given the reins of power, seem intent on riding the coach off a cliff.

How will the heterosexual toxic male voting block react to this?

Don't they realize they need to save some dirt to throw at Trump (aka "Pig-Pen")?

At the end of this, the Democratic Party will be so clean, so pure, so blessed, that one cannot even contemplate it without sun glasses.

I believe it. We all know liberal men are sexual predators much more often then other men.

So this is newly discovered sexual violence from 2016.

One scenario: The fifty plus Democratic candidates create so much chaos Hillary! steps in Romney-style to act as the calming influence and steal the show. Despite the first vote rule changes she still owns those superdelegates that are needed so secure the nomination...

All this concern over "danger" and "violence", and not a single word about how to keep another Sanders campaign volunteer from attempting to murder the GOP congressional leadership.

I'm sure it's just because I live in a bubble, but I don't see the concerns of political insiders resonating with normal people.

Of course they didn't describe the incidents because sunlight is the best disinfectant. How many of these incidents are going to end up being sexual harassment only by the most tenuous use of the idea?

Martin said...

Clearly this is part of the campaign to get Sanders out of the 2020 race.

I would be interested to know who started organizing this... it didn't just "happen," certainly not at this particular time. If it was genuine, it could/should have happened in 2016 or no later than early 2017.

Does that mean that Men Of Color are still allowed to paw the help all they like? Well, except Bill Cosby, of course.

HAHAHAHA!!!

We've hit a milestone -- a socialist Jew is finally given full acceptance as a white male oppressor, at least by the NPC left.

If Bernie runs, he'll be forced to spend an inordinate amount of time profusely thanking anyone who falsely accuses him or anyone from his campaign of turning a blind eye to sexual violence, real or imagined.

Or even just hypothetical.

Yes.

Remember, Cosby was targeted because he was the most beloved Black entertainer to the white audience, and because he dared to challenge the Black victim mentality. Hannibal Buress explicitly said so. What other Black figure has been taken down, I mean really taken down, and not simply dinged a bit, by #metoo?
