Every once in awhile, I head down the freeway and there is absolutely no traffic. I wonder"Am I missing something? Where is everybody?"

This world is a construct of my mind. At Times, I can't be bothered to fill in the details--especially outside of my immediate area.

I think the book was called “Left Behind”.

I want to talk about Michael Cohen, the dissolution of the Trump pretend-charity organization, the Mueller Investigation, and how many more of Trump's closest associates - up to and including Trump himself - are going down as the SDNY takes them out one-by-one.

Most of the country wants to at least know something about these things. They seem important.

But this blog studiously seems to ignore them. Hmmmm.

Maybe the content decisions are not as pro-America as they could be. Americans appear to care more about these things more than the blog and its mainly right-wing commenters do. Why is that?

Melting Icebergs create havoc:

"Monster waves pounded Northern California beaches Sunday and Monday. In the oceanside town of Pacifica, they hurled against a window at the Moonraker restaurant, shattering glass and flooding a room.

This isn't the first time a window at the restaurant has broken in a high-surf event, but Emily Yeafoli, the restaurant's sales and catering manager, said the damage is much worse compared to when it last happened.

"It actually took off the facade part of the building in addition to knocking out a larger window that was also knocked out in January of 2017," Yeafoli said.

The cost of repairs is still being explored, she added.

A big swell, the largest Northern California has seen in two years according to the National Weather Service, delivered mountainous waves to beaches. In Pacifica, breakers reached 25 feet to 40 feet. The waves curled over the town's pier so city officials closed it Monday, as well as a stretch of Beach Boulevard.

My commute home was twice the normal length tonight.

I got into town to find all the roads to get to my neighborhood were closed and blocked off by police and fire trucks. Pouring rain and no lights anywhere.

Turns out a tornado hit a mile from my house this afternoon. Tore the roof off the little restaurant I go to for breakfast on the occasional Sunday morning.

Power was out, and they weren't letting anyone through because of a gas leak.

Spent a few hours in a dark WalMart parking lot before finally making it home -- snuck through a few shady streets, and the officer at the last roadblock kindly let me through.

Safe and sound.

Oh yeah: found out yesterday evening that my latest film won an award at a film festival.

Sometimes a lot can fit into twenty-four hours.

I am Laslo.

it gets worse when you hit the beach, and all you see are the tarnished copper spikes of Lady Liberty protruding from the sand

Dems think they can pull off an SN1 substitution at the POTUS level but they are delusional. That happened exactly once with Nixon. Not gonna happen again. Sorry Dems: show us your incoming...

I seriously doubt you mean the 405.

You should be more concerned if everyone is going in the opposite direction you are.

There's crash between you and the last exit behind you which has stopped traffic. Or the highway has flooded from a broken water pipe. Or it's 3 am. Or you're now in South Dakota. Or you're in a lot of trouble

Althouse I see this comment just above:

There have been 268 cases where Congressmen have used the slush fund put aside for them to pay off (mostly) women who make sexual allegations against them. 17 million $ of taxpayer money has been used from that slush fund. Including $400,000 from Adam Schiff for a 19 year old boy

I've never really seen, in real time like this, the development of a QAnon conspiracy theory. But you can see it here:

https://twitter.com/weareone_q/status/1071875754886135810?lang=en

It is unnamed, unidentified "congressional sources" that are the source for the story.

I know that you fancy the Althouse blog comments as a free speech haven. I didn't realize that it was a QAnon defamation haven as well.

Why do some parts of the country call them “freeways “ and others call them “highways “? Just another regional language variation, I guess.

Out here we have both. We call the interstate system freeways, and other major roads (that have fewer lanes) highways.

I must live near you, Lazslo. My brother was out bicycling in that area, and said he didn't see anything, so that tornado was very localized. Guess the top of the funnel cloud was below 10k feet, which means it was very compact.

Those are both odd names to call a parkway.

This is constructed to be almost unintelligible. So it impossible to grasp the intent of the post. My initial take it is saying the congressional slush fund used to pay off victims of sexual abuse is fake news, with no sources. except I found sources at CNN, USA Today, ABC, just to name a few
https://www.cnn.com/2017/11/16/politics/settlements-congress-sexual-harassment/index.html
So now we cleared up that garbled mess, what we see is congress critters paying off people to shut them up so they can get re-elected. An undeclared campaign contribution. I am sure Speaker Pelosi will have criminal charges brought against all members involved and herself, for appoving of the subtrafuge and abuse of our elections.

Right, except they leak only certain names as with the DC madam and leave others uncovered.

Iowan2: I am specifically complaining about Althouse allowing her blog pages to be used to spread the defamatory statement that Rep. Adam Schiff was responsible for a payment of $400,000 to a 19 year-old for what is implied as some sort of personal abuse.

Anyone who posts that allegation should be made to back it up.

The fact that it has origins with "QAnon" makes it presumptively false.

Doesn't work that way anymore.

Known Unknown, I may have zero proof that collusion happened, but you also have zero proof that it didn't happen. As I said it's classified info and we are not privy to it. Be patient. Not every thing gets leaked.

I once flew into Dulles at 8 a.m. There was absolutely no foot traffic. I was alone in the automatic shuttle. I wondered, "Am I missing something? Where is everybody?" Creepy as all get out.

Schiff paid off someone for $400K? You didn't say that. But so what? You and the left have accused the President with colluding with Russia to win the election. Nothing to back up the allegation, but we still get a special counsel. We have the FBI and Justice accusing Carter Page of spying...nothing to back it up. Comey sent two agents to interview Flynn...with nothing to back it up.
This is the internet. People that believe what they read here, are too stupid to protect.

Your only recourse on how the host here runs things, is for you to leave and never come back. She spreads way less disinformation than you.(that piece on mole rats, alone, is worth the time spent here)
