"The inner workings of the Mueller investigation are a total mess. They have found no collusion and have gone absolutely nuts."

"They are screaming and shouting at people, horribly threatening them to come up with the answers they want. They are a disgrace to our Nation and don’t... ....care how many lives the ruin. These are Angry People, including the highly conflicted Bob Mueller, who worked for Obama for 8 years. They won’t even look at all of the bad acts and crimes on the other side. A TOTAL WITCH HUNT LIKE NO OTHER IN AMERICAN HISTORY!"

Tweets Trump this morning.

Also in the Trump Twitter feed this morning: "The White House is running very smoothly and the results for our Nation are obviously very good. We are the envy of the world. But anytime I even think about making changes, the FAKE NEWS MEDIA goes crazy, always seeking to make us look as bad as possible! Very dishonest!"

Mueller has come up with nothing, just like Starr and Walsh. Typical DC bullshit.

Don't know about the Muellerites shouting. Don't know about the WH running "smoothly." Other than that, Trump is right.

Mueller isn’t conflicted at all.

He was brought in to do damage control for the institution he loyally served and ran.

Mueller was acting US attorney in Boston in 1986-87. According to multiple sources, Mueller himself wrote letters to the Parole Board demanding that the innocent men not be released, despite the overwhelming evidence of their innocence.

Trump has not had one day of peace since he won the election. True, he brings on some of it, but nothing he has said or done deserves the unrelenting attempt to destroy him. Fortunately for him, people like me are strengthened in their support of him by this onslaught. I can’t tell you the satisfaction I got reading of Michael Avenatti’s arrest last night. May the God of Esther continue to use the gallows built by him, Acosta, Flake, Schiff, et al for themselves.

When (If?) that group of Democrat-Supporting attorneys finishes its "investigation" that operation must be subject to a FORENSIC audit. As the FBI has demonstrated its gross bias and membership in "The Resistance", that investigation should be assigned to the Department Of
The Treasury as its agents have a well established record in executing such investigations.

Trump has clearly set the paridigm for future presidents - twitter. Another nail in the coffin of newspaper journalism.
Like Ann he does the framing. In Ann's case she chooses the subject and we all follow . She leads and sets the tone.
In Trumps case he chooses the subject, not the NYT, and the whole world follows. He leads and sets the tone.

Rod Rosenstein offered the Special Counselor position to Robert Mueller -- and Mueller accepted the offer -- because both men knew that Mueller was the one person in the entire world who was most motivated and able to whitewash the FBI in this situation.

Mueller's top priorities have been:

1) Whitewash the FBI

2) Whitewash Mueller's BFF "Crazy Comey the Leaker"

3) Prosecute someone on process crimes in order to show the public that the Special Counsel's investigation has been worthwhile.

The public will never ever be informed about how the RussiaGate hoax began and developed.

The public never will learn who in DOJ/FBI decided that

* the dossier was reasonable grounds to begin this investigation

* George Papadopoulos and Carter Page should be investigated as being Russian spies

* what the investigators learned about Trump's campaign by means of investigating Papadopoulos and Page

Robert "The FBI Whitewasher" Mueller will cover all that up forever.

It's like the John Doe investigations in Wisconsin. If they end it without taking down the intended target, it would make Democrats look bad. Can you imagine the Democrats or DNC media having to admit this was all a waste of time? That. can't. happen.

So it goes on and on and on.

I expect it to fizzle away down the collective media memory hole the day after Trump leaves office.

If you read the actual article, what you find is that the text messages were from days before the wikileaks document dump, but well after the hack of Podesta's emails.

I read that in Ken Starr's new book (which the press has seemed to absolutely avoid talking about) that Hillary Clinton, when under subpoena, said 'I don't know' and 'I don't remember' more than Christine Blasey Ford (or over 100 times in three hours...so just barely beating CBF)

He almost cited her for contempt but who wanted to be the guy who sent the First Lady to jail?

Granted, these days, the FBI would do it to Trump's wife and kids in a heartbeat if they could get away with it.

Mike (MJB Wolf) said...

So weird that "conflicts of interest" was an oft-screamed battle cry of the nevertrumpers and Media (which are in Venn diagram style are actually a nearly perfect circle, something rare in statistics), but rarely have been applied to either Mueller or Rosenstein, and then only by Mollie Hemingway or other rare birds (conservative journalists/commenters). Wonder why this is so?

And now Trump is correct that he has the first non-conflicted supervisor for Mueller in Whitaker, and this inability to continue the whitewash from inside the DOJ spells the end for the Deep State: DOJ Division. This has the Democrats actively freaking out. Look at Schumer and Schiff, pissing their pants about "interference." But of course that's "pre-news" or whatever* Althouse called it: things that have not yet happened. In fact they've been screaming foul for a week and still, no interference from Matt. Hmmmm. Then why exactly are they still screaming?

*For an intellectual look at this phenomenon google up "pseudo-events" and for details look at "Boorstin" for more.

I don't mean to over-spiritualize Trump, but "I will bless those who bless you, and curse those who curse you" often comes true for him.

I am the suspicious type, so wonder about the timing here. I wonder if there is a race going on between Trump and the Democrats. On their side, somewhat by cheating, but still the margin was big enough that they deserved the win in the House. So, come January, Adam Shifftless et al are going to crank up their investigations of all things Trump. They need a nice handoff from the Mueller investigation of all the dirt that they got from the FBI illegally surveiling Trump, his campaign, the transition, and early Administration. On the Trump side, Sessions is out, and Whitaker probably acting AG, skipping over Rosenstein. Whitaker is not conflicted on Mueller, the Russians, the associated investigations, etc (and very clearly won’t be, despite the screaming, like stuck pigs, by the Dems), so can oversee Rosenstein overseeing Mueller. Rosenstein is going to be under immense pressure to recuse, resign, or force Mueller to shutdown (helped, no doubt by essentially admitting that he had suggested, so matter how jokingly, that he wear a wire the next time he met with Trump, in order to force him out). And, yes, that lawsuit trying to kick Whitaker out was, almost assuredly, instigated to protect both Rosenstein and Mueller. At best, it can slow things down a bit, and that is what the Dems so desperately need - to delay the shutdown of the Mueller investigation until the next Congress in January, when they can pass their dirt to the House Democrats. I think that you can see that both sides understand this dynamic by how quickly they have moved since last Tuesday.

“Rosenstein is going to be under immense pressure to recuse, resign, or force Mueller to shutdown...”

My vote is for the last of the three. My reading of Rosenstein is that he is the consummate inside player. I don’t think that he likes operating in the limelight. He should, of course, have recused himself long ago, but could get away with not doing so, because Sessions was recused. So recusing himself now would be embarrassing. This is the top job that he is very likely ever going to have. He just doesn’t have the presence to go further. And, I think that he likes having that much power. So, I don’t think he really wants to resign. Which, I think, means forcing Mueller to shutdown. He will, of course, try to run out the clock, but I don’t see that working. I think that the Dems understand that, and, hence their delaying tactics. We shall see.

Robert Mueller is an incompetent hack, an amoral fixer, and a brutal bully. He is an American Lavrenti Beria.

Howard’s link is interesting, from a point of view of why the Democrats are freaking out about Whitaker, and that is because he “ran a conservative watchdog group called the Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust [(FACT)]. The group lodged numerous ethics complaints and calls for investigations, targeting Hillary Clinton and Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland, as well as some Republicans” which shared funding sources with “Judicial Watch, Project Veritas, the Claremont Institute, the Federalist Society and the David Horowitz Freedom Center”. Nice how the WaPo hides the real story almost at the bottom of their article.

Also from DC interview: POTUS said it would be one thing if Reps won a big House majority of 25, but if Reps were only going to get a small majority (like 3), then he would just as soon deal with small Dem majority. Current vote totals have Dem majority of 27, likely climbing to 30 when all races called.
