"Republican Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is not conceding defeat to Democrat Tony Evers."

"Unofficial results show Evers beat Walker by about 29,000 votes, or just over 1 percentage point, out of more than 2.6 million votes cast. State law only permits recounts for losing candidates who are within 1 percentage point. Walker campaign spokesman Brian Reisinger says 'we need the official canvass and for military ballots to be counted before any decision can be made.'... Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker's campaign is alleging that 'thousands of ballots were damaged and had to be recreated' in the election that saw Democrat Tony Evers score a narrow victory. Walker campaign spokesman Brian Reisinger says until the ballots can be examined, there is no way to judge their validity.... Counties have until 9 a.m. Tuesday to canvas the vote."

AP reports.

AND: In Georgia, Democrat Stacey Abrams refuses to concede.

UPDATE: Walker concedes.

Sore loser is not a good look for anybody.

"Sure, the law says we need to be within 1% to have a recount, but we need a recount to determine if we're within 1%."

Scott Walker is a ferocious nice and calm individual.

If I had to pick a Republican with Obama's personality, Scott Walker. Very calm and soothing on the outside. I don't want to use a Loch Ness monster metaphor here, but that kinda works.

I would like further explanation of what "had to be recreated" means regarding these found ballots before passing judgement. I suspect Walker's run for President hurt him this election.

When will the Republicans storm the State Capitol demanding a recall? And where are the conservative State Capitol Singers? And shouldn't Leah Vukmir be out speaking to her supporters about how "It's not over until we win!"?

Stacey Abrams isn't conceding, either.

SO, walker says that
Tinker(ing) with Evers (votes) gives him a Chance?

Funny how we hear nothing about the corrosive effect of money in the election this go-round. No lamentations about how Citizens United is the end of democracy. Nothing about how Rs who got outspent list only because the D bought the election and now have masters to serve. It is a corollary to the Althouse civility bullshit issue. Only matters when it can be used as a cudgel against Rs.

He’s trying to break up the double (word) play. The call is challenged and now we wait for further review.

Clever reference by the way.

Are we just going to ignore the convenient 50,000 votes "Found" in Milwaukee after it became clear the race was inside the Margin of Fraud?

Dane County/Madison put Evers over the hump with all the early voting locations.

Right now, Walker down by 31,061 votes.

Dane County was 74.7% Evers (220,008). The next county with significant early voting locations was Milwaukee County 66.5% Evers (263,200).

If Dane County had been 66.5% (same as Milwaukee) the Evers vote would have been down by 30,865.

We no longer think about the quality and trust in our institutions. Al 'selective recount' Gore broke that and every action since then by Democrats from protesting legitimate elections to fomenting riots to screaming mobs during Senate hearings has made it so.

Did Franken concede until they 'found the votes'? Did that Democrat Governor in Washington?

Conceding without forcing a recount rewards this last minute voter fraud.

We don't play that game anymore.

Your liars get indicted. Your lying lawyers get disbarred. Your boxes of 'found votes' get finger printed and examined.

No concessions until Dems start worrying about the consequences of their actions.

Since CNN continues to serve as their enablers, that would be never.

Sorry Walker didn't get it--he seems like a decent guy and a pretty good politician overall and I hope he finds a way to continue to contribute.

He signed the anti-recount law that denies those if the count is within 1%, right?

Mark said...

After the recount shenanigans in Waukesha with late ballots, this is a bit of deja vu.

Ironic that the 1% requirement for recounts that they pushed thru after that now comes back to bite Walker.

When Trump humiliated Walker in the Presidential race it was the end of Walker. The Dems couldn't mar his reputation, but Trump made him look the fool.

Surprised Schimel lost too. That $10k in fancy commemorative coins to give out to sycophants must have played more than expected.

Regarding public trust and vote fraud -- any party that would do what was done to Kavanaugh would obviously have no qualms about stealing an election. Character matters.

I would like to see a better explanation for what happened in Milwaukee last night. The race was down to about 1000 vote spread with Milwaukee County 99% returned, and yet that county supplied a sudden 30K+ margin surge for Evers. While I think is almost certain the additional votes were legit, I would want an explicit recanvass of that county alone to make sure those late 50,000 votes really had been overlooked earlier just to make sure there wasn't a double count. Walker should press this, and I think Democrats should support it too.

Yancey Ward said...

Seriously, mislaying 50,000 ballots requires an explanation and proof of no hinkey activities.

Walker is 30,849 votes behind Evers. Abrams is 64,619 votes behind Evans. Both losers are not conceding. AP is reporting Evers as winner and reporting GA as undecided. Why the different treatment.

See Inga, it's done at the ballot box, not with trumped up partisan investigations or bullhorn bullying of voters or bullshit recalls. This is what democracy actually looks like.

How They Do Things in Milwaukee City.
The point to grasp is that Milwaukee City is an entity in Milwaukee County. The city turned in about 46,000 ballots after midnight to the county. Evers got 84% of the votes on those ballots and his margin of victory was 29,000. So these votes gave Evers the election and also put him above the 1% recount trigger. The Secretary of State in charge of elections in Wisconsin is a Democrat, Bob Lafollette, son of a noted progressive; the attorney general in Milwaukee City is John Chisholm who conducted the John Doe "investigations" and authorized dawn raids on the homes of conservatives. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported as little as possible about the dawn raids.

So the law and the reporting in regard to how Milwaukee city handles ballots will be minimal. But this is clear - a bizarre process is in place. And this bizarre process has elected Evers. And he has promised to destroy Walker's work which brought Wisconsin prosperity. And as the person in charge of Wisconsin's schools, Evers the Wrecker, has wreaked havoc especially in Milwaukee city, the worst in the country for blacks. So we can expect him to be able to wreck our state-wide prosperity though he wouldn't be able to increase it and won't try.

Separately for no reason, the thought comes that there is more than one way to suppress the black vote, you could dilute the vote so that the pattern of the true voters is lost. And be it noted that without Milwaukee city's bizarre patterns Tony the Wrecker would not be governor.

"With the race for governor hanging in the balance, Milwaukee city officials turned over more than 45,000 uncounted absentee ballots for official verification shortly after midnight.

The results helped give Democratic gubernatorial candidate Tony Evers his first comfortable lead on Tuesday over Republican Gov. Scott Walker. Evers, the state schools chief, eventually edged Walker by about 29,000 votes."

Milwaukee County Clerk George Chistenson said his office received about 46,000 early and absentee ballots from the city long after all other votes had been counted in the county. The city waited to tally those votes until it finished counting other ballots.

From those late ballots, Evers received 38,674 votes, or 84% of the total, and Walker 7,181.

Brian Reisinger, a spokesman for the Walker campaign, raised questions about the validity of some of those votes.

"Thousands of ballots were damaged and had to be recreated," Reisinger said, clarifying that he was speaking of the Milwaukee County votes. "Until there is a comparison of the original ballots to the recreated ballots, there is no way to judge their validity."

Mark said...

If you don't win, claim it was stolen.

Gimme a fucking break. Walker was shown to be a big spending nothingburger when Trump sent him packing just weeks into the Presidential Primary.

Once Walker got the smell of loser all over him, he could never get the smell off. Modine was yet another example of the big dog showing dominance over beta boy Walker.
