That the upset of the season, no doubt.
That was a good game. I watched part of it. It was certainly more fun than watching SC stumble around at Utah,
I had a bad feeling going into the game, based on previous performances. Though I'm not superstitious, when the student with cancer was on TV, I looked at my wife and said it was over.
How did a team good enough to hang a butt-whipping on Ohio State start 0-3, including loses to Northwestern and Eastern Michigan?
And another of the few teams that can beat Alabama gets destroyed....
Dammit.
Urban Meyer is not a sympathetic figure. I like to see him humbled in such a brutal way. Who knows if he rebuilds himself as an even more dominating coach to be dealt with? But for this Sunday, the game leaves a smile on my face. (knowing in 13 days my Hawkeyes must visit West Lafayette)

First 3 games were lost by a combined total of 8 points, the very young defense took a few weeks to gel and the offense got into a rhythm that more closely matches their surprising talent level (higher than in previous years for some reason).
The last 4 victories, including 2 over ranked teams, were by a combined 99 points.
Anytime Urban loses is a great day for America.

I saw him interviewed and was so inspired by him.
Achilles- he is a cancer patient who wasn't expecting to live through the week, but was thrilled to make it to the luxury box to watch this game of the team he loves.
Achilles you are way off base, way off, out of the stadium off. You need to step away from commenting for several days.
Another example of why the college game is so, so superior to the pro game.
The win by Purdue was no fluke. Their numbers 1 and 4 are great college players. Purdue looked great against Nebraska.

I have watched college football since Francis Tarkington piloted Georgia to an Orange Bowl win.
This Alabama squad is the best I have ever seen. Ohio State should be grateful that they will sit this one out.
PS. It was nice to see a "win one for the gipper" scenario succeed like never before.
I had exactly the same thoughts as Achilles. It's almost like he got his hair done at Chemo-Cuts, then had his cerebral palsy cousin draw the P. The plastic blanket is a nice touch. Obviously this was all faked for simpathy.

You miss the point. The dying kid just wanted to see his Boilermakers beat The Ohio State, before he died. He's has been the defacto team mascot, and welcomed by the team, and fans. It is a moving story that transcends a mere game. Something bigger in the universe. Why him, and not every dying cancer patient? That is the question isn't it?
One of the newest and most moving traditions is 'The Wave' at Iowa. At the end of the 1st quarter, the players of both teams, and all of the fans in the stadium, take just a moment to turn and wave at the patients across the street at the Stead Family Children's Hospital The kids in turn wave back, and after more than a year, it still brings a lump in a lot of throats of those taking in the experience.
Bigger than the the game...that's the take away.

I told him Ohio State (I didn't say The Ohio State and God bless him he didn't correct me) is weird for me because they nearly always beat the Badgers but I end up after rooting against and hating them subsequently rooting for them when they represent the Big 14 or whatever it is now.
I mentioned the Urban scandal and he said he hadn't heard of it, he doesn't satch news.

Well, you take the cake for most clueless comment I have ever seen on this blog.
There was an interesting statistic mentioned at the end of the Alabama game yesterday. In all the history of Unversity of Alabama football dating back to 1892, a quarterback had thrown four touchdown passes in a game only 18 times. Tua, their current quarterback, has accounted for five of those in only 8 starts. He is amazing to watch, and his younger brother is lighting up high school football. He has already committed to Bama. Oh, the wonder of it all.
I moved here frm Colorado six years ago and don’t miss the pro game a bit. I OD on football on Saturdays and don’t even watch any ball on Sunday (or Monday or Thursday) any more.

Fear not. If Ohio State doesn’t have another loss this season, they could still make it to the playoffs like Alabama did last year. And if they do, Bama will be waiting for them.
I only hear about Ohio State when the local Rush affiliate breaks away for a breathless team sexual harassment update or coach firing. And there was the band sex camp a couple of years ago.

And poor sportsmanship penalties most likely cost them a couple of wins, Purdue should be 6 and 1 instead of 4 and 3.

Tyler is impressive and the "Tyler Strong" motto is OK, but Jeff Brohm is going to bring the Boiler Down when he goes elsewhere to coach next year for lots and lots of money. And the main reason was his recruiting of wideout Rondale Moore from Louisville, KY while Brohm was the Western Kentucky coach.
But there is hope for the OSU fans - Urban Meyer really did say he was sorry . . .

Whipping the Miami "Redskins" isn't an uncommon thing these days. Having already lost to Marshall, Cincinnati, Minnesota, Western MI, Army and sure losses ahead by Buffalo, Ohio U. and Northern IL, perhaps Urban Meyer can get back into the MAC next year - what goes around comes around . . .
@Eddie Willers well, at the very least you should know that his name isn't "Tarkington".
I felt the ABC broadcast was emotionally manipulative in ways that would make Steven Spielberg proud. And yes, there's a giant cancer hospital next door to the football field at Ohio State, so I'm sure they could do a similar narrative—but OSU is rarely the underdog, and is often the villain in these stories.
