The reason Hillary is saying civility will return with the elections of Democrats is because it's true.

Why do we see this daily dose of drama?

I've made this point several times here at Althouse.

The purpose of Cindy Sheehan, code pink, anti war demonstrations had almost nothing at all to do with the war. It was drama created to send a message.

Are you tired of all the drama yet? Elect Democrats.

Hillary has let the cat out of the bag here.

What happened as soon as Obama was elected? We stopped hearing about the anti war protests. But, they were still happening. Even Cindy Sheehan was still around.

But fortunately, the media stopped paying attention to it and we were allowed to live for a few years without all the drama.

But then we had to go and elect a republican again!!

So, now we pay the price.

But if we do as we are told, the drama will end and peace will reign.

Parents know that the way to continue having toddler drama is to give into the demands. Just like the Dems. Want it to continue. Give them more power.

We can't spank them (the Dems), much as we would love to or put them in a time out in their rooms the only things left are ignoring them, put them in a time out by not voting for them.

Now that news about Kavanaughgate gradually recedes to background noise, Russiagate attempts a comeback:

Chuck Ross, Daily Caller

CHRISTOPHER STEELE BREAKS SILENCE TO CRITICIZE TRUMP

'The retired British spy who authored a salacious dossier accusing the Trump campaign of colluding with Russia is taking a veiled shot at the president following 18 months of silence.

Christopher Steele has not spoken publicly since March 2017, a couple of months after the publication of his infamous dossier. But the former MI6 officer issued his first comments in response to being named to Vanity Fair’s 2018 New Establishment List.

“In these strange and troubling times, it is hard to speak unpalatable truths to power, but I believe we all still have a duty to do so. I salute those on your list, and otherwise, who have had the courage to speak out over the last year, often at great personal cost,” Steele wrote in an email to Vanity Fair editor-in-chief Radhika Jones, ABC News reported.

“At a time when governance is so distorted and one-sided, as I believe it currently is in the United States, the media has a key role to play in holding it accountable,” Steele continued.

Special counsel Robert Mueller is the top pick on the list. Steele is No. 38.

Steele has rejected congressional requests to discuss his investigation of Trump. He has reportedly met with members of Mueller’s team.'

https://dailycaller.com/2018/10/10/christopher-steele-trump-criticism/

I didn't know that Muller's team had met with Steele. But NBC reports that "a source close to the ex-spy" says its true.

The first person I can think of who best fits that description is Glenn Simpson (whose Russian Intelligence code name is Slimeball):

Mueller's Team Traveled to Interview Ex-Spy Involved in Dossier
by Ken Dilanian / Oct.05.2017

"WASHINGTON — Members of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team traveled to interview the former British intelligence officer who authored a dossier alleging collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, a source close to the ex-spy tells NBC News.

Few other details were forthcoming about the interview, but Mueller's interest in Christopher Steele puts a new focus on the 35-page dossier he compiled, which includes salacious sexual allegations that then-president-elect Donald Trump denied. CNN first reported Thursday that the interview with Mueller's team and Steele took place...."

Sure, a lot of times people just want to other side to shut up (I’d call this the “weak” civility bullshit principle) but Althouse thinks it always applies (the “strong” civility bullshit principle). Althouse challenged us awhile back to provide an example of where a call to civility was sincere. I offer this: Rand Paul on political climate: 'I really worry that someone is going to be killed'

"Say this for “The Hunt for the Trump Tapes,” Tom Arnold’s new half-hour series in which the actor undertakes a largely farcical hunt for incriminating material about the president — it’s a show of its moment. The series sits at the intersection of two trends: The outlandishness of the ongoing political scene allowing just about anything to seem believable, and the tendency of this era to resurrect just about any pop-cultural figure who’d seemed better left in a previous era.

But being well-positioned to document and to succeed in an era of crass, noisy perniciousness — an era in which vastly more heat than light is generated by whatever’s left of a national discourse — is hardly a compliment, unless it’s bolstered by the sort of vision and artfulness this show lacks. Arnold’s show is an unpleasant wade through widely-known and speculated-about Trump ephemera, adding little in its first two episodes but the re-emergence of a personality whose frantic need to be in front of the camera makes for painful viewing."

I believe in the end America, us as people who believe in what we are as a Republic, in our basic decency, and our great prudence and tolerance, we prevail against evil. I think we surprise everyone, including our selves. We are made of better stuff than our enemies, and just because they have remained unaccountable and essentially untouchable does not make us weak or cowards, we are just people who want to live and let live at heart. Who isn’t like this reading these words?
That same dynamic doesn’t automatically confer on us an inability to fight, fight well, and win. Quite the contrary or I wasn’t born a natural Patriotic American.
And I cab say this because I’m not the kind of guy who will let others die for my natural rights, my family, my tribe, my community and not my Republic, which still exists at the least in hearts, minds, preserved in history and documents. It does not no longer exist because of revisionists and cultural marxist say it doesn’t. Fuck. You.

I look around me and see many things, the 1st is within the sphere of my entire life I know not one single cultural marxist. Not one person who poo poo’s MAGA, or what Mr Trump has accomplished and promises. There is no one I have even heard of who intends the destruction of America as we know it. My wife who has a Faceborg page, she has one loony toons cousin who believes Obama should still be president. So in the entire range and scale of both our lives, there is one avowed dirty stinking commie.
I work in the coal mines, it has the most amazing grapevine imaginable. You find out everything. There’s a few thousand coal miners across WV, we have CB radio’s in all surface equipment, Truckers in and out of the coal load outs 24/7, we have company 2 meter radio’s with a fantastic repeater system, in every Boss’s and Superintendents trucks, and usually in every raw and clean coal pile dozers and loaders so there’s always somebody with both radio’s to communicate with everyone, we even have underground radio systems now. The comm’s are like no other along with the HillBilly grapevine. Tramming out on the man trip or riding up the elevator, you get to hear and talk about everything, from home or the latest news, and in 10 years as a coal miner I have never heard of a single guy who was nothing but patriotic and God fearing, and that goes for all the people we all know and discuss outside the mining industry. Zilch. Big Fat Zero. There’s no cultural marxist, at least they ain’t letting on if there are in my AO and in the course of my daily affairs outside my AO.
Now granted WV has a population a little over a million, county I live in, larger than the state of Rhode Island, has 2,400 households. Where are all the fucking commies? Do they live in some isolated enclave? Concentrated in Urban hives? How much a figment of an illusion of power are they? Could they even be noticeable if they didn’t have a strangle hold on the fake media and pass their diktat thru every dishonest corrupt means while not having passed legislation honestly in 7 decades, or more, that gives them an appearance of this majority of the people?

I don’t buy into this civil war yet. No Sir. Not till it gets going if it does. I’m saying when the rubber meets the road and antifa our whatever paid goons try starting shit out in dirt people land where I live they are going to disappear never to be seen or heard from again. Only the tree’s will know where they are buried.

Will it get terrible,

If voter turnout is even there will be a larger house majority and 60 republican senators.

Black voter turnout is going to be lower for democrats in 2018 and 2016 by a wide margin.

But leftists need to keep hope alive. Nobody thinks democrats have a 12% poll advantage or even 6% except really stupid people.

"When they had 3 million more votes, aided by California opening polling stations in Mexico, democrats didn't come close to a majority in the house.
If voter turnout is even there will be a larger house majority and 60 republican senators"

One facet that everyone seems to be ignoring here is that pretty much every majority minority district in the country (which includes many of the Congressional Black Caucus) means an extra Republican district. Or, maybe more accurately, that each state with a majority minority district has at least one extra Republican district, over what they would otherwise have, based on raw party affiliation numbers. That is because they have to overpack minority Dems into districts in order to guarantee that a minority Dem wins the district. The complaint, by white Dems, for years, has been that minority Dems get with Republicans to create these districts, and that is the quid pro quo.

"Black voter turnout is going to be lower for democrats in 2018 and 2016 by a wide margin."

It isn't helping the Dems right now that Trump's popularity among Blacks is up by double digits over the last year, from maybe just under 1/4 to roughly 1/3. Crack can probably explain this better than I can, but part of it seems to be the employment situation (best for Blacks in decades, if not forever), and his personality is better appreciated in Black communities than in upper middle class White ones.
