A nice example, of how Democrats are lying about the Gorsuch nomination.

They are now trying to say they had no objection to Gorsuch and his nomination sailed through.

That is a lie.

Interesting story in my hometown newspaper today. Five (5) high school girls conspired and claimed two instances of sexual assault by a high school boy. He was arrested and hauled out school. Truly sad story.

"In tape-recorded interview with school officials in 2017, the lawsuit alleges that K.S. said she made the sexual assault claim against T.F. because “I just don’t like him.”

".... the criminal complaints against the boy began unravelling in May when three of the witnesses admitted they lied."

Good question IngaChucktoothlessARM.

Others I would like seeing her answer:

Why and how did Ford scrub her social media presence?

Doesn't Ford know how to use Google to find out how to contact her Senator and/or the White House?

How did Ford survive so many years with only one front door?

If testifying publicly was "terrifying", why didn't Ford insist on testifying privately?

Why did Ford require two attorneys to be at her sides while testifying?

Will Ford commit to not profiting monetarily from having accused Judge Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her?

Will Ford submit to an independently administered polygraph examination?

Will Ford provide Congress with educational records showing what classes she took toward her psychology degree?

Michael K thank you for that excellent link! I loved that piece.

As many of you will know, there is now one of those open letters (like so many others), signed by however-many-hundred law school faculty members, opposing the Kavanaugh nomination. It is being run as a NYT op-ed. I know enough of the signatories by name and reputation to know that there are significant numbers of overlap between that letter and the letter signed by more than a thousand law school faculty members in which they opposed Trump's nomination of Jeff Sessions as Attorney General.

Does anybody remember that? That there was a national push by law school liberals to defeat the Sessions nomination? I wonder how many of them would now be signing a letter saying that Sesssions must not be fired.

Bay Area Guy said...

I think the Althouse commentariat should do one of those fancy letters with a buncha signatories. I'll start it:

Dear Senator Dianne Feinstein,

You suck.

Sincerely,

Bay Area Guy

Ginni Thomas tweeted out something about the Anita Hill Hearings turning Andrew Sullivan into a conservative. I think, Mrs. Thomas believes that Dr. Ford's testimony will have a similar effect on young men today.

I wonder if anybody has studied the effect feminists have on their sons? I mean, maybe Ginni has a point. Feminists are creeps when it comes to educating men. No doubt. And, of course, men have a right to exist as well as to equality. Something feminists disagree with. But I still doubt Mrs. Thomas. Dr. Ford was compelling.

Anyone see theHill's story about Perkins Coie meeting with the FBI?

BOMBS AWAY!

“This is a bombshell that unequivocally shows the real collusion was between the FBI and Donald Trump’s opposition — the DNC, Hillary and a Trump-hating British intel officer — to hijack the election, rather than some conspiracy between Putin and Trump,” a knowledgeable source told me.

Baker was interviewed by lawmakers behind closed doors on Wednesday. Sources declined to divulge his testimony, other than to say it confirmed other evidence about the contact between the Perkins Coie law firm and the FBI.

The sources also said Baker’s interview broke new ground both about the FBI’s use of news media in 2016 and 2017 to further the Trump case and about Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein’s conversations in spring 2017 regarding possible use of a body wire to record Trump.

“The interview was one of the most productive we had and it opened up many new investigative leads,” one source said.

I think the Democrats are being unfairly maligned in the accusations that they used Ford against her will. The very fact that she was talking to WaPo in early July is enough evidence to me that she was a fully willing participant.

I'm willing to bet that many California Republicans were planning on voting for Feinstein as the lesser of two evils. I was. Not any more.

If Kavanaugh had the best of the country and his party in mind, he would withdraw. Trump could then select an equally conservative judge w/o the baggage. Not sure why the right doesn't approve of that strategy, which would also have the effect of bringing out more republicans in November who thought Kavanaugh got a raw deal. Seems like a win win for the party.

Really?

Suuuure, that would work, honest, Cory Booker said if we just paused and let the FBI ask a few more questions, he would accept that, until he didn't. Now the serious of the accusation as sullied the candidate. NOT anything he did. The seriousness of charge. This has NEVER been about Kavanaugh. Never. This was always about delaying until, hopefully until the Dems took the Senate. That was always the goal, and looking at this cluster fuck without that in mind, is stupidity on stilts.

I read an interesting article in the Sacramento Bee.

Essentially, California is spending MILLIONS of dollars in legal fees to fight the Government of the United States.

The key provision that they are fighting like hell is that of the Census question: Are you a U.S. citizen, and thus worthy of monies from the public fisc for your safety, support and welfare...

or are you NOT a citizen, and therefore NOT deserving of the American monies set aside for its Citizens.

California Attorney General Xavier Becerra: "Our prosperity is intertwined with our progressive nature."

But while its 'progressive nature' is a State ideal (perhaps) the EXPENSE of these ideals is a FEDERAL matter.

On the Trump administration's proposal to ask people to disclose their immigration status on the Census questionnaire, Becerra said the "consequences (are) as big as any other case that we're litigating, because you're talking about hundreds of billions of dollars and representation in Congress."

Essentially they want fake Congressmen representing illegals and they want the Federal government to pay for their love affair with illegals because they don't want to pay it.

And Kavanaugh is going to take the bench over Feinstein's dead body, almost literally.

It isn't just that they are assholes. It isn't just that they worked as hard as anyone to savage Kavanaugh.

They have the unfortunate position to be against black letter law.

So spin it as you wish. California is PRAYING that K dies because otherwise, they get to actually PAY for their 'progressive nature' and liberals almost NEVER want to do that.

Steve Uhr peddling civility bullshit.

If Bill Clinton had the class and love of nation that Nixon did, he would have done the same.

He didn't.

Neither did his wife.

No double standards. You are playing last decades game. There will never be another Bob Livingston. You destroyed that standard by protecting a rapist up until this very day.

If Kavanaugh had the best of the country and his party in mind, he would withdraw.

Yes, we know that this is the last desperate hope of the Democrats to salvage the mid term “Blue Wave[tm]” He should also resign his current judgeship after such a tacit admission of guilt as you propose, and live out the rest of his life in shame.

tim in vermont said...

If he loved America, that is. Of course, if he loved America, he would be a Democrat! Can I get an amen?

tim in vermont said...

Not sure why the right doesn’t approve of that strategy,

Because if he goes down, there is going to have to be blood on Manchin’s hand, and Heidi Whatshername, and McCaskil, etc. After a stunt like this, it’s important to take names.

tim in vermont said...

Plus you guys never gave him an out, it’s win or nothing for him, you blew the bridges behind him. If he withdraws, he loses everything. Poor strategic thinking on your part.
