CNN is hyperventilating about how there were assassination attempts on two former presidents and President Trump hasn’t recognized what a moment of National Crisis this is. Obviously one can seek to terrorize someone by sending them a fake bomb. But that doesn’t seem to count as an actual attempt to do them harm.

The smart money is on the mail bomber being a dyed-in-the-wool Republican impersonating a false flagger. Christina Blasey Ford’s Polygraph Was B.S.

[quote]

.... [polygraph examiner Jeremiah] Hanafin departed from ... protocols by giving Ford time writing up a statement describing what she claims happened the night in question and then interviewing her about her statement before administering the exam. That might not seem so bad until you realize that interviewing someone is just asking them a lot of questions.

So Hanafin did exactly what he wasn’t supposed to do; he asked Ford a lot of questions about the subject on which he was testing her truthfulness. The only difference being that Ford wasn’t hooked up to the machine for most of the too-many questions she was asked. Since he also had her spend time writing her story down, his irregular procedures would likely have had an even worse effect on the test’s validity than simply asking a lot of relevant questions during the exam.

If Ford was lying, Hanafin essentially allowed her to spend an undisclosed but significant amount of time practicing doing so immediately before she had to face the actual exam; not just verbally in answer to his questions, but also in writing. Thus, she had the opportunity to get accustomed to the story she intended to tell, along with the intrusive questions her examiner would ask, rendering the exam results worthless.

Hanafin seems also to have departed from ZCT procedure by asking Ford the most general possible relevant questions about her written statement, rather than focusing on specific aspects of her story.

He chose as his relevant questions: “Is any part of your statement false?” and “Did you make up any part of your statement?” The examples of proper relevant questions for the ZCT provided in the Justice Department manual, however, are all excruciatingly specific and are supposed to test “the possible direct involvement of the examinee.” For example, “Did you steal that Mustang?” Indeed, even the following question, which is much less general than the relevant questions Hanafin chose, isn’t labeled a relevant question in the Justice manual: “Regarding whether you stole that Mustang, do you intend to answer each question truthfully?”

[unquote]

And excellent article.

It is clearly in the political interest of some news outlets to call these “pipe bombs”, but I can’t tell if they are explicitly making such a claim.
Saying that a piece of PVC has powder and glass shards in it or even an explosive powder seems like a weasel worded attempt at avoiding the admission that they are fake.

I'm familiar with Curzon. Are you familiar with Lord Kitchener? I've read two great biographies of him--both old ones, as I'm sure any modern writer would be critical of his style as a warrior who fought to win. One of his well-known sayings was: “War is a stern game and he who would play it successfully should not be over-troubled with the bowels of compassion.” Not all aristocrats were pampered toffs.

Tucker was exceedingly poignant tonight, to wit: " this is ominous, we're not supposed to hate our fellow Americans this much."

What happened? Over time "our thinking changed. We used to debate politics, issues, and ideas and started attacking each other for things we can't change, for who we are."

On immigration and the leftist claims of moral superiority

"What you're hearing is not political debate, its theology. Its not based in reason but something deeper and less predictable and more ferocious. Its a religious argument. Those are not resolvable. Thats why we were told not to bring them up at the dinner table."

Religious disputes push people into extremism. If I think your ideas are wrong I'm happy to argue with you. But if I decide you are evil I may be tempted to hurt you, if only in self defense. Politics like this isn't really politics, its sectarianism and ultimately an incitement to violence."

"There's always two sides to a political argument, but yet all that matters anymore is character and motive."

It's done on both sides and Tucker provides the tape of Kasich who argues that if you disagree with him, you disagree with God.

"Whats easy to know and easy to forsee is what happens to a country when the people in power claim moral authority they don't have in order to compel you to obey."

Sorry for the length but, Holy Shit. Are we fucked?

Thursday, MSNBC contributor and historian Jon Meacham weighed in on the bombs sent out this week to various political commentators and Democratic politicians. He said that the scare may “exceed the scope” of former President Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. “It’s, I think, the most widespread attempt on the lives of high American officials since, and it may, in fact, exceed the scope since the assassination plot against Abraham Lincoln in 1865.

I witnessed something on MSNBC that I really want Althouse and her readership to know about and see for themselves.

Katy Tur of MSNBC was doing a joint interview with liberal Democrat Donna Edwards and the Trump-doubting conservative Eric Erickson. Donna Edwards was of course preaching to the choir and was there to help make the points that Katy Tur and MSNBC wanted to make.

But the interchange between Katy Tur and Eric Erickson was astonishing. Eric was asked about the overheated rhetoric in current politics and how it might lead to violence and he pointed out very gently and reasonably that on both sides of the political spectrum there have been rogue extremists and acts of (sometimes ineffectual) "terrorism" in a general sense, as he mentioned the ricin-mail scares with Senators Susan Collins and Ted Cruz and the congressional baseball game.

Katy Tur shut him down, interrupted him and told him that he couldn't advance such ideas on her show. The Daily Caller put the video into a story on this encounter

https://dailycaller.com/2018/10/25/msnbc-katy-tur-angry-guest-left-wing-violence/

I saw this live, and I was so overjoyed to see that someone else picked up on it. Rarely have I seen a more crystalline example of the left claiming that all violent political rhetoric comes from one side. For Katy Tur to do that to a non-Trump conservative like Eric Erickson is so amazingly ignorant and tone-deaf. Erickson did nothing to defend any of Trump's outrageous claims or statements. He only pointed out the obviously true flip side of what Katy Tur was driving at, which is intolerance and incivility to the point of violence in our current national politics. And she would not tolerate it. Shutting her guest down with total incivility herself.

You don't debate the issues because you are attacking the person. Their character, and their motives. He and Mark Steyn also discussed the need for more speech in the face of the incivility and violence. Obviously Katy Tur will not allow that. Note the Huffpo take on Tuckers questions. They note the twitter backlash, but read the twitter comments and see if you can find an argument there.

Katy Tur and all the usual suspects demand that the House-trained LLR's toe every lefty narrative theme.

Leftists do not and have never allowed dissent in any form.

The Max Boots and other LLR cucks who thought they could take their current operational alignment with the dems along with their anti-Trump "muh "truCon" principles" are always shocked to learn this is not enough to protect them from the transient lefty winds of acceptance.

Too funny.

Erickson's public posture in 2016/2017 and day to day lefty narrative advancement has left himself in an actual political "No Man's Land".

Tough.

Quite frankly Im pleasantly surprised Erickson didnt grovel at the feet of his lefty masters and beg forgiveness by calling a career highly decorated Navy Admiral Doctor "Ricky Bobby" and referring to Ben Carson and some mythical "Dept Of Black People".

That puts Erickson light-years ahead of some other lefty operationally aligned LLR's.

Wasserman Schultz’s voice broke with emotion as she said her staff handled the threat with bravery.

Tough girls don't cry. They just go on TV and signal virtue.

What are they going to do when this turns out to be a Bernie bro?

You moron. Here I am, calling out the excesses of MSNBC and one of its hosts, and you can't let it go.

We'd have a much easier time on the Right if we didn't have to answer for "Muslim bans" and Scaramucci and Omarosa and Michael Cohen and Roger Stone and mystery tax returns and payments to porn stars and wonderment at how "nobody knew health care could be so hard" and the thousand ridiculous statements put out on Twitter.

Or maybe not. Maybe we really do need Trump, to appeal to low-information white cultists, just as Democrats needed their black Obama cultists to carry a couple of national elections.

It is much the same to me; and you won't get me to sign up for either one.
