"Trump has been the great doctor, stitching up our scars and healing us organically."

Said Washington Governor Jay Inslee, chairman of the Democratic Governors Association, quoted in "Democratic Party’s liberal insurgency hits a wall in Midwest primaries" by David Weigel in WaPo.

Such an absurd and colorful quote. Stitching up scars?! If your wounds are already scars, it would be freaky to stitch them up. Inslee's metaphor sent me looking for images in that genre of tattoo that includes things like this:

Also, "organically." He's not only crediting Trump as the "great doctor" but putting him in what sounds like some alternative medicine category of doctor.

By the way, when did David Weigel start looking like Edgar Allan Poe?

"You are young yet, my friend... but the time will arrive when you will learn to judge for yourself of what is going on in the world, without trusting to the gossip of others. Believe nothing you hear, and only one-half that you see" — a quote from my favorite Edgar Allan Poe story, "The System of Dr. Tarr and Prof. Fether."

Why do Democrats get such a pass on sounding like half-wits when they talk?

wishful thinking from that governor. the insurgency is real, and it isn't going away because some incumbents won a few primaries yesterday. wishful thinking expressed poorly. the brain trust and power center of the Dem Party is totally coastal. AOC's victory is foreshadowing not a mere flash in the pan.

Yes. But some Dems will still try to fake moderation and "pragmatism," of the sort Althouse likes, just enough to allow reasonable retirees to rationalize voting for "the best person," as a way to get first past the post in parts of flyover country.

Too bad Trump hasn't helped them get better at licking their wounds.

it's going to be hard to fake pragmatism in a general election. among his talents, Trump can out-pragmatize the best of them. he will take any good, pragmatic idea and make it his. then what do the "D pragmatists" do? support Trump's policy?

I'm totally confused. I've been told over and over how wonderful the half-wit bartender from the 'burbs is. How she was leading the Dems back from the brink.

Now they're telling me it's wonderful not one of her endorsed candidated won.

How can that be.

Because Inslee appeals to the women. He is dumber than a box of rocks.

Speaking of scars and stitches:

"A Facebook dispute boiled over into real life on Monday when a Democrat drove over to another man's home and shot him.

Brian Sebring, 44, of Tampa, Florida, was arrested for shooting Alex Stephens, 46, also of Tampa, in the thigh and buttocks after their online disagreement."

He is. Washington State Democrats seem to occupy a special rung of the stupid ladder. I don't even think they're evil. Just crushingly smug and utterly reality-proof.

It ought to be easy to be a Democrat: you win if you win and you win if you lose. They don't have the stress of waiting to see how things turn out. But despite this one amazing trick, the Dhemis are all at their therapists, moaning over combat fatigue. Still they'll be OK in Dhemi-land till their therapist finds out they want to restrict him/her/they to $90,000 a year, taking the rest in taxes to pay for free therapy for the patient. Then they'll both be on the couch, the one talking, the other sleeping.

I've known Jay Inslee personally and professionally since 1992 when he was running for Sid Morrison's open seat in WA-04.

He's an idiot.

Stupidity and certainty are a baaaaad combination.

Knew a guy in the service who had played for the Iowa Hawkeyes until his shoulder was wrecked in a game against the Michigan. He had a tattoo of wolverine claws emerging from his surgical scar (as though there was a wolverine inside him clawing to get out)...

Dave Weigel is square to the bone and his earlier (like three years ago) photos reveal that squareness in sharp corners. But he’s had a makeover and now you have to look twice to see his constitutional uncoolness.

Full disclosure: I’m not a Dave Weigel fan.
