@Althouse, eight days ago you posted a put down of Sarah Palin after being punked by Sacha Baron Cohen, arguing, in part, that he's a very recognizable individual and she shouldn't have fallen for the guy.

Well, would you have spotted Sacha Baron Cohen had he entered your premises disguised like this?

"It is a proposal that was made in sincerity by President Putin, but President Trump disagrees with it," Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said in a brief statement on Thursday afternoon.

I saw two hot news stories on the Fox News site: One about a fire on the roof of a Texas ihop/ihob/ihop, which made me think "liar, liar, roof on fire", and one about a fire caused by "spontaneously combusting" tortilla chips. I'd bet there was probably some ghost pepper salsa involved in the latter story.

I'd like to interview Comey, Strzok, Clapper, Brennan, Mueller, Mueller's team, and about a dozen others with a Velociraptor, though.

I find myself in agreement with John Hinderaker -- this country has gone insane. I also note that gay individuals were able to sue a cake baker after he declined to decorate it to their specifications (which included biblical verses edited to be blasphemous to a devout Christian), yet the owner of the Red Hen restaurant in Lexington, VA, threw Sarah Sanders out of her restaurant because LGBT members of her staff were uncomfortable serving her party. Poor babies! Seems to me that the law needs to be even-handed or lets just go back to the days of vigilance committees.

@steve uhr. As soon as Mueller indicted the Rooskies, I smelled a problem. A big problem. The Vladiator is going to do the same. Indict US citizens home and abroad. The Dems (read: Mueller and his band of merry men) are so stooopid

Listening to former CIA chief John Brennan making the treasonous allegations has me wondering. I think he is in deep doodoo. I think he will be exposed in a large way.

Nope, ha has his own witch hunt system.

The same thing as when Mueller indicts Russians on fabricated charges. Nothing happens.

Wife is livid. She noted that all of the people Mueller is proposing for immunity are Democrats, all of the people -- Americans, anyway -- that Mueller has indicted are Republicans. She is past fed up with the two-tier justice system in this country.

Me, too, come to think of it.

Will get immunity. For anything he admits to, under oath. Like, all the very same things Manafort is being prosecuted for.

Nope. Nothing wrong with that at all.

No one is above the law...except every single democrat investigated by the FBI/DOJ in these major political investigations.

And only every single one of them.

We have the texts from FBI agents who were laughing about how Hillary's IT guy was obviously lying to the FBI during his interview.

Are we jumping to conclusions when we infer Trump to use "incredible" to mean great, or is it possible he meant a suggestion by Putin that is unbelievable or bad? While Trump is loose with his improvisational discussions, he did make a living in real estate which is governed by contracts. People work hard to make clear what words mean in contracts since ambiguities can cause expensive disputes. Perhaps he deliberately chooses to use ambiguous words to create a disruption, and retain the option to move to a less disruptive position later. Sort of like the common political test of running a proposal up the flagpole to test the response, before everyone gets behind the proposal.

The latest Russian spy is okay, but they've had better. I certainly hope that the Russians aren't starting to let their standards slip. So much of modern life is in decline.......I saw the movie Red Sparrow. The whole concept of using Bolshoi ballerinas as secret KGB agents is genius in my estimation, but that's probably just in the movies. You probably wouldn't need a super hot agent to set a honey trap for Brennan or Clapper. Trump would have much higher standards.

It's a terrible adaptation of the film as I mentioned before Jennifer Lawrence is all wrong a significant element is her intuition her ability to read auras, as well the region specific recipes in every chapter.

Mueller has stepped over the line. I have been pointing out for months what is going to come out and what is going to happen.

Equal justice under the law and actual real fairness is at the core of our country’s values.

It is nice to see that the independents and republicans are finally catching up and liberals are leaving the Democrat Party because it has been taken over by fascists.

August 28th is peak crazy.

After that the democrats will start climbing down and asking for civility in the run up to the midterms.

Right now the leadership has given up on winning the midterms.

They are just trying to stay out of jail.

That includes Mueller.

Toxic Steam Pipe Explosion in NYC.

A large crater, a steam cloud, and falling asbestos after a disaster that occurred at approximately 7 am.

“All of a sudden I heard ‘Pow!’” Ms. Eckhouse said. “There was debris coming down and steam flying. I was covered in mud.”

There are 28 buildings contaminated in a "hot zone" closest to the site of the blast, which left a crater roughly 20 feet by 15 feet in the street and temporarily displaced 500 people from 250 residential units.

The steam pipe was installed in 1932 (86 years ago), when asbestos was a wonder fiber.

This is a dream come true for mesothelioma litigants and lawyers. Con Edison will need to adjust their future earnings.

I saw that video the other day. Clearly, he is putting on very heavy disguises to deal with his problem of recognizablity. But I didn't say it was dumb of Palin not to immediately see through the visual disguise. She sat for a long interview with him, that included a lot of ridiculous, disrespectful material and there was also the voice and the comic's style of conversation (which Trump immediately saw through, back when Cohen wasn't a famous face). The heavier the disguise, the harder it is to see who's under it, but the easier it is to see that this is somebody in a phony getup. It was dumb to be fooled by the whole thing, for a long time.

I do understand Palin going on the offensive, but it just doesn't work on me, because she's a powerful person (an appropriate target for comedy), she should be smart (considering that she stood ready to inflict herself on us as the back-up President), and her going offensive makes me think that Cohen got her to say things that she's embarrassed by. She did not have to say those things, whatever they were.

By the way, she says she trusted her own people who set up the interview. Well, they should have been more careful and competent! Why is this person who ran for Vice President hiding behind the incompetence of the people she chose to rely on? That's just about the top responsibility of a President, picking good people to work with.

I used to make this same point about a certain secretary of state, who had been vetted by the Senate, that she should have been competent to judge right from wrong, but it fell on deaf ears.

Palin doesn't have a competent spouse. McCain was a loser his whole life. Thank God for his billionaire spouse who found him a job.

Hillary thought it was a great idea to take scores of millions of dollars from Putin and his cronies and do his bidding on energy, selling out our Canadian allies to prevent undue competition for the Russian petro-state. Not "scary shit" at all! As oil prices rise, just remember every energy project Democrats killed.

Dollar gains wiped out and Treasury yields lower as Trump criticizes Fed, 17 hrs ago - CNBC.com

Trump doesn't understand the Fed. It's not raising interest rates but withdrawing money from the money supply, because at the rate money's being used it's asking the economy to do more at once than the economy can do. So the Fed sells debt and extinguishes the dollars it gets.

If it leaves the dollars in the economy, the economy doesn't do more, it just raises the prices of what it already does, to match the dollars to the capability. Inflation, in other words.

@Althouse, Palin is not “powerful.” In the America you voted for in 2008 powerful = financially well off through graft. She isn’t powerful so she can’t afford top people. I appreciate that both Trump and the gun store owner saw right through Cohen while she didn’t. She hasn’t been alone.
