Katie Arrington — who beat Mark Sanford in the South Carolina congressional primary — got seriously injured in a car crash Friday night.

Politico reports:
On Sunday, according to the statement [from her campaign], Arrington underwent two major surgeries. The first was an operation that complemented the initial surgery she underwent Friday night on her abdomen. The second surgery was for a spinal fracture, which went "very well and with no complications."

Almost two weeks ago, the Republican state representative defeated Rep. Mark Sanford in the primary for the GOP nomination in the state's 1st District. She received the last minute support of President Donald Trump in the race, who joined a number of well wishers in tweeting their prayers for her over the weekend....
Tweeting their prayers... God is on Twitter? Actually, Trump tweeted about the fact that he was praying: "My thoughts and prayers are with Representative Katie Arrington of South Carolina." Probably a lie though, don't you think? Or do you think the tweet "My prayers are with X" is itself the prayer?

Sorry to go all theological on you! I'm glad Arrington seems to be doing well. The driver of the other car — which was driving the wrong way — died.
On Saturday, [Arrington] was described as being seriously injured, sustaining broken ribs and a fracture in her back, among other injuries. "As we all know, Katie Arrington is an extremely strong woman and has tremendous faith and an incredibly supportive family," her Twitter account said Saturday.

"Probably a lie though, don't you think?"

So millions of Americans, praying or not, and thousands of media and corporate releases, sincere or not, use the same conventional phrase to express sympathy, never worthy of comment due to utter banality, but when Trump uses it, it's a "lie"?

Next, when he says, "pleased to meet you," or "have a nice day," those are gonna be lies too?

Leave that stuff to Dick Durbin Republicans.

I have read that her Democrat opponent has suspended his campaign for now. There still are classy people in the Democrat party? Who knew?

I'm not sure "doing well" is the appropriate phrase. Maybe "doing as well as could be expected".

Thoughts and prayers is an official statement, not a report.

Need one pray to God to pray?

Only atheists can pray. Believers are just ordering pizza, not praying.

Sorry, but I read somewhere that you should not take the name of the Lord in vain.

Other than your own bias, do you have any proof that Trump doesn't pray? I'm sure his thoughts are with Arrington, if only because he needs the GOP to hold that seat.

What? He didn't!

Anyway, it's beside my point.

Since I don't believe he prays, "My prayers are with X" is all the prayer she's going to get from him.

He said a little prayer for me, the moment he woke up. Sucks to be you.

It doesn't require a lot time to mentally wish someone well which is tantamount to a prayer. Most people are longer religious but the content of his tweet is the currently accepted way to express his concern.

Here is a part of the prayer definition.

"an earnest hope or wish.
"it is our prayer that the current progress on human rights will be sustained""

At work I just take time
And all through my coffee break time.

I say a little prayer for you.

I hope the Candidate makes a complete recovery. What a terrible thing to happen to her.

I don't normally opine on what counts as a prayer, but the NYT put something in a way the struck me as weird, and my reaction included the words "Actually, Trump tweeted about the fact that he was praying," and I noticed my use of the word "fact" and felt required to qualify it, since I did not know it to be a fact.

I've written probably hundreds of posts objecting to the way other people call Trump out for things they ignore in other people, so this post isn't ME doing htat.

Churchill would write in memos, "Pray [do this or that]."

Why would you write that the president's expression of sympathy is a lie? TDS from the creamy hippy center of the chick who still misses that grifter mulatto who lied his ass off, enriched himself at your expense, then blew town? Lingering leftist lunacy, or just being a feckless cunt?

And that is NOT taking the Lord's name in vain. I'm certain one of your Catholic or Christian commenters can explain what that commandment means so that you don't look like an ignorant atheist trying to defend something stupidly provocative that you said.

Ignoring the ranting of the fool, head on collisions are very dangerous.

A collision over 30 mph has an incidence of aortic rupture in the vicinity of 30%. Not all are fatal but must be immediately checked for.

An example.

I don’t care about old senile Trump Cultists anymore, do u?

So I see Inga's managed to post at least three times in this thread and yet not said a word about the candidate who was injured.

Considering her open and avowed "I don't care about Democrat mobs hurting Republicans" of the past couple of days, it appears to be a safe bet that in fact Inga is sad about this accident: she's sad Katie Arrington didn't die in the wreck. After all, Katie is a Republican woman, which is worse than Hitler according to the left, and thus deserves Democrat mobs after her. So surely a car wreck should be fatal, right Inga?

As for myself, I hope Katie recovers quickly and destroys the Democrat candidate at the ballot in November. Good for the Democrat guy for suspending his campaign for a bit though. If it were Inga as the candidate, we all know she'd be running "Too bad Katie didn't die" ads right now.

I’m adopting the attitude from Trumpists that empathy is overrated.

Empathy is overrated as a political argument.

It's great for spouses.

Big system vs small system.

I think the woman who tried to murder the candidate should be thoroughly investigated. This could quite possibly be another Rand Paul situation.

Lets find out the facts first before we conclude that it is an "accident."

It might be just as much an accident as a DNC staffer who leaked being "robbed and shot and killed" when his money, watch and briefcase were not taken.

langford peel said...

The left has become a campaign of physical intimidation and out right violence at baseball games, restaurants, movie theaters and homes of Republicans who support Donald Trump. It is not a stretch to think that this might be part of it.

langford peel said...

There is one thing you can be sure of in this incident.

If it was indeed a terroristic act of liberal democratic violence as called for by Congresswoman Maxine Waters than it will be covered up by the news media.

You will never hear about it again.

Vance said...

I'm not too worried about it, Langford: even if it was a terror attempt, the perpetrator died doing so.

Leftists are nothing if not craven cowards, for the most part. Dying in an unsuccessful attempt to kill a Republican (indeed, after this the sympathy vote may well put Katie over the top by itself) is not a great resume enhancer.

Suicide/murder by auto accident is not likely. Sniper? Crazed knife wielder? Much more likely.

Inga's total acceptance of open hostility is noted. Once again, just like after Hodkinson, Inga is openly on the side of hurting Republicans. Maybe it won't take a year this time for Inga to suddenly decide she has a soul.
