Garish hyperbole.

On Twitter today:

I like the Scott Adams riposte... or do you think it's in bad taste (in the Era of That's Not Funny)?

ADDED: By the way, it's Father's Day. What's with mothers and children? Are no children ripped away from fathers or is that just not visualizable as tragic and traumatic?

And as long as we're looking closely at the sex of the parents and children, "Where Are The Girls Being Detained By The Trump Administration?"
I've poured [sic] over these reports. I've scoured the photos. I've looked at every publication and every news outlets reporting. Not. One. Covers. Girls. Being. Detained.

Where are the girls?

Evil bastard with hate in his heart, Hayden, that is.

When the little man realizes how insulting he was to better people than himself, to Jews, to those who have actually had loved ones murdered by people who resemble the Nazis, to generally decent Americans who have not suffered that particular level of hatred but who have lost friends and loved ones fighting against evil regimes, he will, one hopes, never ever post on Twitter again.

If you want to see pictures of girls in holding cells and such, check out this twitter account.

https://twitter.com/brandondarby

Lot's of pictures from 2014 and many have pictures of young girls. More guys though, but I think that's typical of border crossers. Guys have an easier time of it.

stephen cooper said...

Strumpit - I see what you did there.
You believe that we are biological creatures, nothing more. That is an honest argument.
I believe we are creatures with souls, and that fathers resemble, at their best, God the Father, who loves us more than anyone else, when fathers are being what fathers should be.

I get irritated when people talk about the special love that mothers have for their children, as if such love was a given, because I spent several decades in law enforcement, retired a few years ago, and when a baby or young child is killed - and I am not being hyperbolic here - when a baby is killed, the default guess is that the mother killed the baby or young child. Unless, of course, the mom had a live-in boy friend who was not the biological dad, then that guy was the default most likely suspect.

Anyway, I am glad you responded honorably to my rather impolite comment!

It seems that, to diminish Trump, people are more than willing to now trivialize the Holocaust.

We have gone from the cries of 'Hitler' to pictures of German death camps.

I would like someone to sincerely explain how this does NOT trivialize the Holocaust.

Because unless you believe this is all a lead-up to Trump systematically murdering millions of people then perhaps you need to take a breath.

I know: it is intoxicating to believe you are a Woke Cassandra standing on the tracks of the oncoming Nazi Train. Unfortunately, you sound like pre-teen girls talking about Slender Man.

From Wiki:

"Media scholar and folklorist Andrew Peck attributes the success of the Slender Man to its highly collaborative nature. Because the character and its motives are shrouded in mystery, users can easily adapt existing Slender Man tropes and imagery to create new stories....

Although nearly all users understand that the Slender Man is not real, they suspend that disbelief in order to become more engrossed when telling or listening to stories...

Shira Chess describes the Slender Man as a metaphor for "helplessness, power differentials, and anonymous forces."[27] Peck sees parallels between the Slender Man and common anxieties about the digital age, such as feelings of constant connectedness and unknown third-party observation...

Troy Wagner, the creator of Marble Hornets, ascribes the terror of the Slender Man to its malleability; people can shape it into whatever frightens them most...

You are using straw-man arguments to make a Boogeyman Dialectic*. The shadows of Hitler and the Holocaust are everywhere, and you get the adrenaline rush of a good ghost story.

I have more patience with true Holocaust-deniers: at least they are upfront about what they believe.

The people who diminish the Holocaust to score political points, though: can you please do your whistling through another graveyard?

(*I did a quick Google of'Boogeyman Dialectic' to see if it had been used before; it doesn't look like it. I like it, anyway)

Loren W Laurent - the evil Mr Hayden did is, of course, to trivialize the Holocaust, on behalf of his Deep State pals.

If the Nazis had not murdered my relatives I would have had a much easier life, not to mention a life where i did not have to mourn the victims of the Nazis who were my cousins and great-aunts and great-uncles.

Hayden, in an evil moment, decided to viciously trivialize the murder of all those victims of the Nazis, because he hates Trump.

It is difficult for me not to feel hatred for his callow nasty stupidity, but I feel no hatred for him, I just want him to stop saying evil things.

Hayden knows that America will treat all those children better than any other country would, But he lied, and slandered, out of the hatred that he has learned in all his Deep State years, Poor little man! That is what evil is, lashing out in hatred for others without fairness or understanding in one's heart. I hope the poor little retired little military geezer prays to God for forgiveness, I have already forgiven him , but it is not my forgiveness that the silly little Deep State loser needs.

Why are all these children "ripped" from their parents? Did someone circulate a memo on what term is the most impactful to move the sentiments of the body politic?

Also, Hayden is this century's analog of McClellan - ultimately a failure.

To sharpen the pencil on my Slender Man analogy, let me repurpose the above quotes and see if they resemble our current Boogeyman Dialectic:

The success of the Trump-as-Hitler comparison is due to its highly collaborative nature. Because the President and his motives are seen through hatred, users can easily adapt existing Trump-as-Hitler tropes and imagery to create new stories....

Although nearly all users understand that Trump-as-Hitler is not real, they suspend that disbelief in order to become more engrossed when telling or listening to politics...

The power of Trump-as-Hitler is its malleability; people can shape it into whatever frightens them most...

Most of it works.

However, one could argue if "nearly all users understand that Trump-as-Hitler is not real."

Which makes my faith stronger in pre-teen girls talking about Slender Man than in many adults talking about Trump.

I missed Chicago progressive radio this Sunday afternoon so I don't know what the line this coming week will be. Immigration as a Holocaust to distract from the IG Report? Myself I'm trying to fit the IG report into the sprawling panorama of The News, the show that is gripping America. Season One. Trump Rising: Shattered - the story of the greatest election upset in American history; Season Two. America Reborn: The First Five Hundred Days - the madness of the greatest political conspiracy in American history unfolds against the backdrop of increasing prosperity driven by Trump's reforms.

It's quite dynamic to have a book or a Report come out to compare with TV news. In a sense we can only know "the news" of our day but it's interesting to try know it as "history." On election night, I myself thought Trump would win and so did Michael Moore, so did most of Trump's strong supporters, so did his campaign director, so did Melania, so did Trump himself. So it's always been interesting to hear the news talking, talking about how "no one knew" when historically the number who knew was in the millions.

This is an engineered propaganda line.
This one was initiated within the MSM de novo and pushed by the TV networks very hard. It began in the last two weeks of May with a bunch of reports based on situations from 2016 and earlier. But they persisted and have turned it into an urgent matter through the use of volume and frequency. It was obviously organized for the purpose of putting pressure re the immigration bill. If anything ever was "fake news", invented as political propaganda for a specific purpose, this is it.

Social media is something else. I wonder how people like Hayden get their instructions.

It is a centrally directed propaganda system, as I have constantly pointed out. In this case, for example, as there have been many others in the past, such a conclusion is unavoidable.

This sort of thing can't be argued against because you are fighting a machine, not having a discussion. The only way to fight this is more of the same, going the other way, preferably against vulnerable individuals. Hurt for hurt is the only way, because it is a war in fact, certainly on the level of propaganda.

What you lack is that vast and expensive machine designed above all to create hurt.

Progressives care more about illegal immigrants having their children taken from them than black citizens experiencing the same.

From The Nation:

In a July article for Al Jazeera America, Peggy Cooper Davis, an NYU law professor and former Family Court judge, highlighted the devastating effects that arbitrary decisions by CPS and similar agencies can have on black families. “I think of a devoted father whose child was removed from his care because a $5 bag of marijuana was found in his room by staff of the shelter where father and child were living,” she wrote. “I think of mothers who lost custody of their children because the mothers themselves had been subjected to domestic abuse.”

Yet progressives have not, in general, seen CPS as worthy of the same suspicion as other forms of law enforcement. (“Child Protective Services” tends to be used as a catchall term for child-welfare agencies, though different states use different names.) “I don’t often hear people relate police arbitrariness and child-welfare-authority arbitrariness,” says Davis. “It would be useful to relate them, for they often have to do with similar kinds of biased presumptions having dreadful effects in stressful situations.”

This view, of course, is hardly universal among experts: there are still those who defend CPS as a progressive institution. Among them is Elizabeth Bartholet, a Harvard Law professor and faculty director of the school’s Child Advocacy Program. Although Roberts once worked as Bartholet’s research assistant, today they represent opposite poles in the debate. Bartholet, a white woman who formerly worked for the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, calls her opponents “extreme family preservationists” who are “putting kids at risk by insisting that, at almost all costs, they stay at home” with abusive or neglectful parents...

I am a bit suspicious about this Nation article, however: it is dated October 19, 2015, but Trump wasn't even President yet.

Foster homes and shelters in the United States. Foster parents and charities can't locate the parents.

The system was designed to keep kids safe from child traffickers. Kids were separated if in danger from the people they got separated from. Coyotes.

They system is not designed for kids separated from good parents.

A 15 year old can tell people how to locate relatives in Latin America. A 3 year old cannot.

You need a new locating system if you're going to intentionally separate 3 year olds from mothers. The mother gets put into 1 system and the toddler into another. Some immigration lawyers and foster parents can locate the parents and kids. Others cannot.

Parents are getting deported without their kid & don't know where the kid is located.

Trump admin put this new system into place. It looks like they did not put a system in place to reunite the parents with the kids. They cannot find the relatives back in Latin America.

They're gonna be stuck in the USA foster system if they can't locate relatives.

Nobody believes you guys anymore.

Just out of curiosity, what do you suppose happens when people with children in tow show up at legal border crossings, seaports, and airports, with out proper documentation as to the identities of said children?
Any system that allows unfettered movement of adults and minor children across international borders is no system at all. Until identities of obviously underage children is established, the state must err on the side of caution by assuming the role of protector. Unless you don’t think that undocumented children deserve the same protections from exploitation as documented children.

langford peel said...

If you look really closely at that photo you can see George Soros putting Jews on that train.

DKWalser said...

@wwww -- Yes, the United States is separating adults from minors. And, yes, we are deporting adults while the minors are allowed to stay in the country. Having acknowledged that these things happen, let's also keep the following in mind:

1) All of the above is required by US law, as interpreted by our courts, that is decades old. When illegal aliens are detained at the border and ask for asylum, by law they are held in detention until their case is adjudicated. A judge in San Diego ruled that was find and good for adults, but not for minors. So, within a few days, any kids MUST be separated from the adults and sent elsewhere. The government has no choice but to find other living arrangements for the minors. The Obama Administration did the exact same thing.

2) Kids crossing the border may be traveling with adults who claim to be their children. Experience has shown that this often is not the case. Frequently the adult has no family relationship with the child at all.

3) Historically, the government relied on people who claimed to be family members living in the US (whether here legally or not) if any to take care of the kids. Next, the government turned to charities, such as churches, who have volunteers who take in the kids until their cases can be heard. There has been growing problem with this approach. You may have noticed an increasing reluctance among the population at large to respect and to cooperate with the enforcement of our immigration laws. This is increasing true for the people volunteering to care for these kids. The primary reason why the government cannot 'find' these kids is because the kids' guardians won't cooperate with ICE by returning phone calls, answering letters, or bringing the child to court hearings.

4) When an adult is ordered deported (because, for example his asylum request was denied), that does NOT extinguish the child's rights under the law to have his or her case adjudicated. The adult who claimed to be the child's parent may NOT have been related to the child. Even if the adult is the child's parent, the parent's deportation, in and of itself, does not extinguish the child's right to fair consideration of his or her claims to stay in the country. If the Trump Administration were to boot the kids out of the country -- absent a court order mandating their deportation -- the ACLU and 100 other liberal groups would be in court the next day. And, the ACLU would win. Under the law, the government simply doesn't have the authority to 'keep families together' by deporting the kids at the same time the parents (if we know they are the parents!) are deported.

5) All these problems with the current system are well known by both Democrats and Republicans in Congress. Both sides have seen it in their short term interest to kick the can down the road a few more feet rather than deal with these issues. The Democrats want to demagogue Republicans (in the search of votes and campaign contributions) and Republicans want to return the favor.

6) Trump, for all his faults, put a proposal on the table that would have solved all of these problems. Republicans passed a bill in the House that would have solved the problems, but Democrats blocked consideration of the bill in the Senate. Democrats wanted the campaign issue the media is currently helping them to create more than they wanted to solve the problems.

How about doing what concerned liberals used to do- create a group, an Aid Society, go around collecting money and volunteers, then hop on the train to Bordertown and get to work dispersing your aid and comforting nightmare wakened children. Go! Get! Go get!

"Where are the girls?"

The 2014 border crisis had a similar pattern of very few girls. Our local schools took in about 800 new "students," nearly all of who were male. Quite a few "students" assigned to the high school had gray around the temples and other signs of normal 20-35 year olds. Central American must age more rapidly than any other populations around the globe. They must also have an inability to produce girls.

MSM stories on the border have no credibility since they routinely cook the books and ignore the obvious. In this instance, the obvious is that girls are not part of the story. They also ignore that it would not be happening at all if migrants cross the border at any port of entry rather than try to sneak in across the desert.

The issue has not changed at all since 2016. Democrats want the issue and the votes, and the GOPe wants the cheap labor. It is working Americans who pick up the tab.

Trump reiterated a lie that his political opponents are responsible for the forcible separation of the children of undocumented migrants arriving at the American border

Washington Post! It’s right there in black and white, this never happened under Obama, you guys are all liars following the lead of your useless tweeter Trump.

Whatever you say said...

The more they advertise these centers, the more the illegal crossers will want to come. Those centers look clean and safe compared to where the people are coming from. It is a sweet deal just having clean water, bathrooms, food and air conditioning. They probably don't want to leave.

To prove that Trump is a liar again today, just look at this story in the Washington Post of how Obama treated these same kids.

As most everyone else here has pointed out, this is 100% political. The Dems are panicking, because of the last election, discovering that they have, essentially lost their original constituency: working class whites. They desperately need immigrants to replace them, and legal immigrants are not plentiful enough, and reliable enough, so they want to bring in enough illegals to build their permanent political tidal majority. The big thing here is family reunification, or chain migration. If you are paying attention, you know that is the big political debate. The whole DACA/Dreamer thing is contentious because Trump has offered Dreamers immunity, and a path to citizenship, if the Dems give up chain migration, because that ultimately m and that you get one person in with some somewhat valid claim, pretty soon their entire village, being somewhat related, is here. Repeatedly, the camel's nose under the tent. In recent years, apparently chain migration has become the bulk of our legal migration, crowding out people trying to migrate here who are far more likely to actually contribute, than be supported by welfare.

Right now, there is proposed legislation that appears to be headed to the floor in the House that would "address" the DACA issue. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to address chain migration, which means that you always need to multiply any of the numbers by at least 10x. So, if 1 million DACA immigrants are given legal status, we are really talking 10 million barely literate peasants would, ultimately, be admitted to the country. Any time you see in the MSM anything to do with separating mothers from children, losing children in the system, etc, just keep in mind that this is all a sales job, propaganda, to get DACA reform, without limiting chain migration, passed before the election.

“Democracy dies in darkness,” it’s right there in the Washington Post masthead, so this is all the straight up truth under klieg lights, I don’t know what you could be talking about. The Washington Post wouldn’t obscure certain facts to push some kind of liberal agenda, it’s just that the truth is liberal and you can’t accept that!

It is a good thing Trump was elected. If Clinton had been elected, does anyone think Obama's crimes against humanity would have been revealed?

The idea of the "deep state" reacting as a large, but primitive, organism that has received a sudden injury has something to be said for it.

There's an episode of "Two and a Half Men" where Charlie is up for an award for a commercial jingle. Of course the jingle is stupid, and the whole thing is embarrassing. But Charlie is beaten out by a guy (played by Jon Lovitz) who wrote a much stupider song about "The Orphans," which he performs at the ceremony and brings down the house. Compared to the smarmy hypocrisy and debased money-grubbing of the guy singing his ass off about orphans, Charlie's comfortable and honest selfishness and hedonism are refreshing. (I'm paraphrasing "Little Big Man").

As the joke goes, if illegal immigrants voted Republican, there'd be a border wall the size of the Great Wall of China.

And "liberals" now shedding crocodile tears over the children of illegal immigrants could go back to not giving a damn.

"Liberalism"--it's all about the kids!

It seems that, to diminish Trump, people are more than willing to now trivialize the Holocaust.

Now willing? It's been this way since 1945.

Where are the girls?

Teen/tween boys in the company of coyotes are a worthwhile commodity as a ticket to an easier ride across the border. Teen/tween girls are a profitable commodity in and of themselves.

If we're looking at this issue with our eyes wide open, we know where a lot of those teen/tween girls end up on their way to the US border. The problem is, Nicole Belle can't look at the issue with her eyes wide open, because to do so would be to face the fact that pushing the US to soften border enforcement encourages young girls to start a voyage that ends short of the US border in forced prostitution.

That’s Auschwitz. IIRC the children were kept with their mothers all the way into the gas chambers. That’s a little bit different from what we do with illegal border crossers.

It was in fact a horribly ignorant statement. Women and children to the left, indeed.

You mean, raped and murdered. As are many boys and many adult women. A refugee's path is often not a happy one. Think of the Vietnamese boat people. They endured THAT rather than stay.

She would, as they all would, if you took something from her. Or, at least, if she had something at stake.
