Let's see: Trump reduces the NK nuclear threat, the economy is humming, and the IG reports slams the anti-Trump FBI--what are Dems and NeverTrumpers to do?
Ah, got it: manufacture the next scandal du jour, the separation of illegals from their children--a nothing-new lawful policy, an easily avoidable predicament, and yet another entirely phony Dem/MSM tool.
While I am now known as one of the harshest critics of President Trump among you commenters, I have found occasions to offer up some praise for some of the things occurring directly under the Trump Administration.
Justice Gorsuch was one of those occasions.
Another one was the appearance of DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen in the James Brady Briefing Room in the White House.
This link is to C-SPAN video of the complete presser and it opens with Secretary Nielsen doing a tour de force explanation of the current policy. It is careful, serious, meaningful language. Utterly unlike President Trump. Although it is apparent that White House speechwriters filled it up with as much Trumpist baloney about drugs and crime at the border as could be done without making it laughable.
I have had a bit of chip on my shoulder regarding Secretary Nielsen ever since she testified before the U.S. Senate and lied about Trump's having said the phrase, "shithole countries." But when she is given room to work in her own competent fashion, she's pretty damn good. Too bad, she keeps having to answer for the worst impulses of Trump.
The press was especially bad in this briefing; they are beside themselves, hysterical with a story that appearently is polling very nicely for Democrats.f
All in all, Althouse, I expect that your commentariat will love this even more than I did, which is saying quite a lot.
The former Laura Welch, the daughter of a successful Texas property developer, has previously refused to be drawn on the 1963 car crash in her hometown of Midland that claimed the life of a friend when she was only 17.
She and a girlfriend were hurrying to a drive-in cinema when, driving her father's car, she ran through a stop sign on a dark country road and hit a car being driven by Mike Douglas, also 17, a star sportsman and popular student at her school. Nobody was ever charged and there was no evidence that either driver had been drinking.
The Judiciary hearing today was illuminating. Horowitz seemed to actually appreciate the opportunity to discuss the evidence freed from the strictures of the formal report. Lindsey Graham’s question period in particular is well worth your time. John Kennedy’s as well. They destroy the “no bias” assertion.
With the amount of press about a few hundred criminals trying to enter the country illegally, and focusing on the kids they drag with them, you have to know there is serious money being offered to the candidates.
This is an all-out plea for votes. Get the peasants upset, and maybe they will vote for you. Anyway, the money has to be big.
As far as I'm concerned, it is a completely fabricated story, as you can see how desperate the press is to pound the drums and get the peasants off their ass and into the voting booths.
I hope the peasants do their normal thing, and opt-out and drink beer.
I know they won't let me down. But you can't be too careful when the money is flowing hot.
Just saw a copy of Leah Vukmir's 30 second ad on YouTube. Starts off with recordings of the kind of people Ritmo, ARM, and roesch pal around with threatening to murder her. Tough woman!
As far as I'm concerned, it is a completely fabricated story, as you can see how desperate the press is to pound the drums and get the peasants off their ass and into the voting booths.
Yes, this week especially. It's just sad to see Hayden and Barbara Bush selling out.
What we have on the southern border is not immigration, but an invasion. It is not going to happen, but it would be appropriate to quit the attempts to treat it as a civil matter and quibble about legalities, which is just making the situation worse. It is a more or less organized invasion and should be treated as a military problem. Anyone caught crossing the border illegally should be arrested and just turned around and expelled back into Mexico without further ado.
Ann, while I doubt that you will do it, I do hope you write your book detailing how you came to love Trump. It will be a nice embarrassing keepsake for you and will allow you to reflect back on during your final moments (hopefully years from now) realizing how much you embarrassed yourself and how your lack of a basic moral compass opened you up to such pedestrian foolishness.
I have had a bit of chip on my shoulder regarding Secretary Nielsen ever since she testified before the U.S. Senate and lied about Trump's having said the phrase, "shithole countries.

Kate Steinle was separated from her parents. By a cocksucking illegal. With a gun. Who was acquitted by a SF jury. She's love to be put up at an active military base like they have been doing the past several years.

So you have a boyfriend murderer and a pedophile enabler like Ben Sassy all upset about the poor beaner babies. Why wasn't Gentle Ben paying attention when Speaker Hastert and his cronies were molesting the congressional pages while he was supervising them? If anybody knows anything about child endangerment is that dynamic duo.
And Ann, given that you somehow got tenure without doing much publishing, it will be quite fitting that your one and only book was about how you came to love Trump.
You are a very serious intellectual thinker Ann Althouse.
Hey Jon. Why not pay attention to what you have to say instead of trying to pick a fight with me. I don't care what you think. So talk about the subject. You are getting a little creepy.
Ah, guys. There is a Barbara Bush who is alive and well and the president of the Global Healthy Corps. She's the daughter of George W. and Laura, and the (fraternal) twin sister of Jenna. Barbara has been active in the fight against AIDS in Africa.
Original Mike said... "...Lindsey Graham’s question period in particular is well worth your time."
That's for sure! Graham's back & forth with Horowitz on which FBI conspirators met in "Andy's Office" was a hoot. McCabe conveniently said he couldn't recall. Strzok said McCabre was there.
Who's telling the truth? Strzok recently said he Would testify before Congress without a subpoena. McCabe said he would take the 5th.
Barbara Bush and Jenna Bush Hager co-authored a book about what it was like to grow up in such a poltical family. It's titled Sisters First and you can order it through the Althouse Amazon portal.
Trump's upping the stakes with China. It's going to be interesting to see where that leads. But it's a damn shame, because I just got a new phone from Huawei, and it's a beauty. Fast and sleek.
...The special prosecutor filed for delays and gag orders concerning potential evidence. Concord's lawyers filed their response last Friday. They began with this doozy of an opening paragraph.
Having produced not one iota of discovery in this criminal case the unlawfully appointed Special Counsel requests a special and unprecedented blanket protective order covering tens of millions of pages of unclassified discovery. Having made this special request based on a secret submission to the Court and a hysterical dithyramb about the future of the American elections, one would think that the Special Counsel would cite to case holdings that support this remarkable request. But no, instead, the Special Counsel seeks to equate this make-believe electioneering case to others involving international terrorism and major drug trafficking, and relies only on irrelevant dicta from inappropriate, primarily out-of-circuit cases. In short, fake law, which is much more dangerous than fake news....

So why is DiFi blocking requests for individuals to be required to answer questions? Doesn't she want to prove that the FBI and the DOJ have done nothing wrong in their investigations?
“The Incredibles” is the best superhero movie ever made.
Arguably that's so. Certainly it's the best Fantastic 4 movie ever made.
As for Incredibles 2, I enjoyed it quite a bit, but in my view it (like most sequels) doesn't live up to the original in its series. Without giving away any spoilers, in my view 2 here is far far less PC- and SJW-inundated than I'd feared (particularly for a modern-day Disney flick), but one might observe that it's not completely immune to such influences. For instance, during most of the film Mr. Incredible is sidelined taking care of Jack-Jack — to such an extent that the movie in general might be termed a (mostly) Elastigirl film. Elastigirl doesn't even doesn't wear her Incredibles outfit during most of it! (No, she's not naked.)
Super-suit designer Edna Mode has a major role in this film as well as the first one — but not to the extent where 1 can be regarded as a contest between Edna's and first-film-villain Syndrome's super-suit designing philosophies. (Edna knew not to include a cape — no matter how snazzy it looks — Syndrome didn't. Syndrome died in the first film as a consequence of his mistake.)
Getting closer to real spoilers (WARNING), one might note that the villain, too, in 2 here is female. Beyond that bit of PC-dom (women rule — going and coming), the two movies have a (vaguely) similar plot — in each a super-smart normal (why are geniuses in this series regarded as simply bright-normal people rather than “supers” in their own right?) bears a grudge against the supers and acts to discredit or eliminate them.
Democrats in 1995: Mark Fuhrman used a derogatory term (perhaps the worst one in modern American discourse) and therefore all of his investigative work in the OJ Simpson case is suspect.
Democrats in 2018: Peter Strozk and Lisa Page (and many others) used a vast array of negative terms about Donald Trump but that in no way calls into question their investigative work.
If history did not start anew every morning, Democrats would be hard to understand.
The Peony in my yard is from my grandmothers house. It was given to her when she had her house built in 1931. It was part of a peony plant that her parents bought in middle to late 1880 when they were married and lived on Whipple street in Chicago. Just thought Meade might be interested.

Holy shit the press are a bunch of whiny, dishonest, emotive hacks.

Did Barbara Busy really compare enforcing the law to Japanese internment?

If Kathy Griffith calls Laura Bush a "feckless Cunt" - I wouldn't get upset.
It would be strange..new...respect.
"Pee a knee" is the Official Knee of the NFL.
I'm waiting for Mitt "cuck" Romney to weigh in.
Since J/A internment and Auschwitz have been taken - perhaps Mitt can use a "Wounded Knee" or "Trail of Tears" analogy and then somehow work in MLK.
Ah chuck snorfle, you have inadvertently realized this is the same sort of kerfluffle.
"...lied about Trump's having said the phrase, "shithole countries.""
Prove it.
Barbara Bush surrendered her immunity to questions about the guy she killed in a car accident that was her fault.
The former Laura Welch, the daughter of a successful Texas property developer, has previously refused to be drawn on the 1963 car crash in her hometown of Midland that claimed the life of a friend when she was only 17.

Vehicular manslaughter ?
Perhaps McCain can get off his death bed and head for the border with some Teddy Bears and balloons.
Just don't bring Lindsey Graham..cause...y'know.
The Chuck and Friends show has started early.
Hope you stick around Chuck - your friends want to "Battle".
