At the Cruddy Troll Café...

P1160003

... come on in and slog around.

(And think of going into Amazon via the Althouse Portal. Here's a nice iguana statue for your lawn, a cute Iggy the Iguana Beanie Baby, and a high-quality iguana hand puppet. All 100% inedible.)

If there is ever an Althouse party, I would strongly urge that ex-NYTimes Editor, Jill Abrahamson be invited. She carries an Obama doll in her purse -- kinda like a special needs comfort pet.

I wanna party with that chick.

My siblings and I owned a beautiful green iguana when we were children. He lived in a glass-enclosed cage with a heat lamp as I recall. He was very unhappy and would bang his head on the glass all the time because he was frightened or stressed when we approached him/her. We finally made the wise decision to donate him to the zoology department of a local community college. They were happy to take him off our hands. They slowly were able to tame him and make him a much happier animal. I much prefer iguanas to snakes. iguanas eat fruits and vegetables whereas snakes are carnivorous. Iguanas look so dinosaur-like, too. Maybe, I'll get a realistic plastic one on Amazon. Not a bad idea at all.

Some where I heard that her dance calendar is full, and what ever story she can con-cocked (sp?) will be worth way more that $130 grand.

You need a "Chuck" tag for this post.

I missed the reboot of Americal Idol last night, because I was working on stuff for a class that starts this week.

I read that Katy Perry was pretty good as a judge, but that the country guy is too much like the country guy on the Voice. Lionel Ritchie just looks creepy to me.

Hagar said...

If she and her lawyer come up before a common law aficionado judge, they will ordered to return a lot more than the 130 grand.

Stormy needs to hire Lisa Bloom, get a real lawyer.

I wonder if Jill Abrahamson's Obama doll comes with batteries. If you know what I mean, and I think you do.

You can have an open border country if your country is equally as poor and uninviting as all its neighbors.

You can have a relatively open border if all arriving would be immigrants are strictly denied access to any and all taxpayer supported benefits until such time as they acquire citizenship.
This will also act as a natural filter to deter those uncertain of their ability to compete.
(These days border controls are still needed to guard against "terrorists," illicit drugs, etc., etc.)

tim in vermont said...

Stormy has to be furiously regretting how cheaply she sold out.

Hagar said...

But Stormy is a Democrat; she does not think she has to comply with the terms of her contract if she does not want to any more.

I see the Illinois legislature has or is about to pass a bill banning 18-21 year olds from owning "assault rifles," large capacity magazines, and .50 caliber rifles.

Well, at least they put "assault rifles" in quotes, but what is with the .50 caliber rifles?
There are such things, but has anyone heard of one being used in connection with any sort a crime?
I assume they mean .50BMG or Barrett ammunition and not .50 caliber muzzle loaders, but who knows?

'...And Abramson's legacy? What does she hope people will think about her reign at the Times after it comes to an end?

"I want people to say that I protected and expanded the depth and breadth of our news report," she said, "and some version of what [former Times executive editor] Abe Rosenthal said he wanted on his tombstone was that he kept the paper straight. It's not just the paper now, but I want them to think I kept the place straight."'

https://www.politico.com/media/story/2012/11/jill-abramsons-dream-epitaph-she-kept-the-new-york-times-straight-000848

Difficult for Jill Abramson say this with a straight face.

Unless, of course, she meant editing the NYT to conform to the straight party line of the left.

50 years ago, when I lived in Illinois (downstate), I was told that after each legislative session the governor's staff would go through the bills passed and separate them into three piles; one for the governor to consider whether to sign or not, a second larger pile of bills patently unconstitutional, and the third, and largest, with bills so badly written that staff could not tell what they were supposed to do.

I do not read all of our host's blog posts, but I have noticed much more creative writing, now that she has retired. It has me sticking with her writing more often, in hopes of running across some more of her great work buried in a post. More to come I'm sure. Retirement suits her.

I too have been retired about a year, and I am finding the absence of having to meet the expectations of bosses, and customers, has me delving into things deeper than before. I think it's an attitude shift, more than just time.

“This has never been about the money,” Clifford’s[Stormy Daniels] lawyer, Michael Avenatti, told NBC News

What’s that saying? When they say it’s not about the money, you know it’s about the money.

So I won the places that are optimistic, diverse, dynamic, moving forward, and his whole campaign ‘Make America Great Again’ was looking backwards. ‘You know, you didn’t like black people getting rights, you don’t like women, you know, getting jobs, you don’t want to, you know, see that Indian-Americans are succeeding more than you are — whatever your problem is, I’m going to solve it.’” - HRC

I don’t even think this quote requires a snarky comment.

tim in vermont said...

I guess an “Indian-American” who is working as an indentured servant to some tech billionaire on an H1B visa, or whatever, who can’t leave his job because he would be deported, is “doing better” than me and I hate it!

Ann Althouse said...

Thanks, iowan2.

It is liberating not to have to continually reset one’s mind to the place where it meets the needs of a particular job.

Is there no one smart enough and brave enough on the Left to come out and say "this whole blame everything on the white man" shit ain't working no more?

Christ this thing's going to get all kinds of airtime this fall, and if Hillary is the nominee again, it'll be on non-stop. Hell the Republicans might get 60 seats in the Senate thanks to this.

I am sitting enjoying a movie “A Low Down Dirty Shame” and it got a zero on Rotten Tomatoes. This is two in a row. It’s no Dr Zhivago, but I am starting to believe that maybe Rotten Tomatoes doesn’t have any sense of humor.

tim in vermont said...

Jada Pinket was worth watching the movie. Yeah, there is a lot of bad acting and overdramatic dialogue, and even catch phrases that miss

“Promise me you’ll smoke him, Shame.”

“I will, like a motherfucking pack of Kools.”

But zero?

Humperdink said...

I watched Hillary's foray down the steps in India.

Two things:

> The steps have lost their edge (as has HRC).

> HRC needs more and better "handlers". Took two to keep her afloat.

tim in vermont said...

Someone at JOM thought Hillary’s probably could be peripheral neuropathy.

Incipient dementia, I would say, except that she has always been an idiot with zero empathy. She doesn’t understand what Bill has that she doesn’t? It’s that he does have empathy. She can’t see that it’s empathy that he has because she doesn’t have it. He might be a scum-bag rapist, but he could project empathy, and I think you have to have it to know what to project, if can project it.

tim in vermont said...

Trump has empathy for working people, and I don’t believe you can fake it because if you don’t have it, you won’t know what to fake, as I said. Democrats have no empathy for working whites, none, zero, and yet they wonder why they lost their votes in such numbers.

tim in vermont said...

I think she just fell to distract from that awful statement about how the Democrat Party has abandoned their dedication to economic losers. <<--Joke. She is far too much of an idiot to think two moves ahead, she’s playing two dimensional checkers at best, and your grandkid could beat her.

tim in vermont said...

But the Democrats are going to run Harris so that they can rack up even bigger majorities in California, Illinois, and New York.
