Hope is gone!

"The White House announced she was leaving a day after Hicks, 29, spent nine hours in a closed hearing of the House of Representatives Intelligence Committee on its investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. presidential election," Reuters reports.
White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said Hicks’ decision to leave was not related to her appearance before the panel. Lawmakers said Hicks, Trump’s spokeswoman during the election campaign, declined to answer questions about the administration but she did answer every question asked about her time with the campaign, and the transition months between the November election and the January 2017 inauguration.

I was pretty sure that Michael Wolff was trying to suggest an affair between Trump and Hicks, then some nitwit suggested Haley and Wolff went with it, because he was just trolling in the first place.

We've lost Hope!

General Kelly opened his copy of The Inferno, and it said, "Abandon Hope." So he did.

Who cares when/if low-level staff members of the White House quit?

Frankly, I'd like a lot more government workers to quit.

Maybe she wants to be with Rob Porter.

Sometimes love is the one job greater than the greatest job you ever had. (My suggestion for the promo for the romcom based on HH.)

Amadeus 48 said...

Would Rob Porter mess up that beautiful, Hopeful puss?

Oh, the humanity!

I think the HH romcom should be called "Hope and Change". Rob Porter is reformed by the love of a good woman who knows when to shut up.

Well, there you go, one strong female (very, very female) character the less.

Bay Area Guy - I wish I could quit but I have too much time invested, so I will ride it out a few more years until I can retire. Thank you for paying your taxes!

But, I know more than a few workers I wish would quit too.

On CNN they reported "Hicks leave white house!" as click bait for all their readers would think Trump resigned.

The Greatest Love Story, updated to 2018 sensibilities:

Hope: Yesterday I said a great many things. Its pretty clear to me now, I have to do the thinking for both of us. Well, I've done a lot of it since then, and it all adds up to one thing: I'm getting out of that House and coming back to where I belong.
Rob: But, Hope, no, I... I...
H: Now, you've got to listen to me! You have any idea what I'd have to look forward to if I stayed there? Nine chances out of ten, I'd wind up working the sunday talk shows listening to that Todd guy prattle until I went crazy insane and threw myself into the sea. Isn't that true, Peggy Noonan?
PN: I'm afraid NBC would insist, oui.
R: You're saying this only to make me change.
H: Of course I'm saying that! Because it's true! Inside of us, we both know you are useless without a hard hearted woman steering you right & putting steel in that soft mushy head of yours. I'm the part of this work that, you know, works, the thing that keeps you going. If I dont get out of the White House, and start telling you what to do, you and I will both regret it. Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of our lives.
R: So ... This is about us?
H: no you idiot! I got a lover in Paris. I got a hideaway in Casablanca. We got nothing.
R: If I said I would never leave you--
H: And of course you never will. But I've got a job to do, too. Where I'm going with changing this country, for the better, you can't be moping round, like a lovesick puppy. What I've got to do, you can be a part of, sure, but that dont mean I need you there in bed with me, messin up my beautiful hair. I'm no good at being noble, but it doesn't take much to see that your outdated male problems don't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world. Someday you'll understand that. Now now.
(Turn to camera)
Here's looking at you America.

She's strikingly good looking. Not by DC standards but by tv soap opera standards. I've never seen her on any of the talk shows. For a communications director, she's surprisingly muted and reclusive.......Her book will be a big seller, particularly if she throws in a few salacious details about late night parties with Trump and Melania. Fox would certainly pay big bucks to have her as a talking head. She's got a bright future. She should make almost enough to cover her legal bills with Mueller.

Nonsense, mAH. Althouse has two boys and drives an Audi, or an e-bike.

D: Nice. Holy Grail or Big Head?

Since Sarah Huckabee learned little from her dad's time as a preacher, she wouldn't know how to tell the truth even if she were required to do so.

As for Hope Hicks, resigning does not get her out from under her little white lies. Her turn on the wheel with Robert Mueller or even lying to the FBI will bring on the "four-walls" syndrome.

Four walls to hear me
Four walls to see
Four walls too near me
Closing in on me

Michael K said...

It's a shame. She has been very close to Trump and was running his golf tournaments when he asked her to come on the campaign.

The Democrats crap on everything they touch.

She deserves a life. The swamp is no place for a 30 year old intelligent woman. She did her national service, and is now demobbed.

The final straw? Hope Hicks resigned hours after 'Trump berated her and asked her how she could be so stupid' for admitting she told 'white lies' for the president during Russia probe testimony

J-Law could teach her a thing or two.

Matt Sablan said...

If my understanding is right, they're saying: Hicks admitted to things like "Trump can't come to the phone right now" sort of polite brush offs, while Democrats are claiming her statement is about actual matters of substance.

With Omarosa on Celebrity Big Brother and appearing on Colbert, it seems that she is doing just fine.

As for Hope, I'm sure she will do just fine as well.

And as with The Apprentice, Trump just goes through staff, people come and go in his sphere.

No, his finance guy, the comptroller for his businesses has been with him since his father.

Hope Hicks ran his golf tournaments. I would not be surprised to see her in the business end. She just got savaged by the press and the Democrats.

Michael K said...

I'm sure you never will. The Democrats savaged her and tried to make those molehills into mountains and haters like you cheered them on.
