"I hurt. When Dick Durbin called me I had tears of rage... when tens of millions of Americas are hurting right now because of what they're worried about what happened in the White House, that's unacceptable to me!"

"For you not to feel that hurt and that pain...  that’s unacceptable to me. Your silence and your amnesia is complicity.... Why is this so important? Why is this so disturbing for me? Why am I frankly seething with anger?..."

Seething with anger, Cory Booker:

#Girther movement kicks off as Twitter questions whether Trump REALLY weighs just 239 pounds and Guardians of the Galaxy director offers $100k for president to publicly stand on scales

There is some question about the measurement of the' weight of the glorious leader.

That is so fantastic! I will kick in a hundie. Let's get that one going. I don't suppose we can raise enough money to get Trump's "heel spurs" ex-rayed.

Interesting thought experiment. How would Trump have handled that question/speech from Booker?

My money is on laughing at him. I expect "crying cory" to be tweeted any moment. It seems that he has a history of it. Linguistic kill shot.

"ex-rayed"

lol. That's a Freudian auto-correct.

Back to the Girther movement. It is so fantastic. Althouse just has to blog that one. The visuals are wonderful! Talk about kill shots!

Tim Tebow is, uh, another athlete like Trump. 6'3" and 236 lbs.

Just like Trump:

But again and again, the White House keeps claiming that the president didn't say "shithole countries." Either he said it or he didn't. I want to know who the liars are.

Has his rubber gloves on and lubed, searching for the truth.

Jeff the Flake was before the Senate berating Trump this morning. Speaking of the demise of truth, he proceeded to unleash several untruths, such as Trump being the originator of the 'birther' movement. As an Arizonan, I will be so glad when his term is finished. He's an amnesty RINO and an embarrassment.

Bipartisan doesn't mean Durbin-Graham acting on their own. If I were President and said to a room full of dems and repubs, "I'll accept a bipartisan deal", I'd mean from that group that was there, not those two on their own.

Durbin is a known prevaricator, having been proven to lie about what people say in Whitehouse meetings - called out by the Obama admin. I'd never let him set foot in my presence without a camera crew. I think the Homeland Security chief told us what really happened - both sides were cursing and letting the invectives fly.

Gahrie said...

At that point, it is all about the president lying, and Senators Cotton and Perdue lying, and Secretary Neilsen lying. Or not.

So you have a choice. You can either believe a Democrat who has a proven track record as a liar, or you can believe multiple Republicans.

Of course a lifelong Republican would believe the Democrat.

I never said that, you hateful liar. I never disclosed how I feel about any of the competing proposals. And the reason that I didn't say, was because I didn't know any of the details. Still don't. And previously on this blog's comments pages, I described myself as mostly an immigration "hawk." And that if I were voting in Congress, there's almost nothing that would get me to vote for a package that provided any "pathway to citizenship" which I think is very much in the Graham-Durbin proposal.

So it isn't a policy/legislation thing with me on this.

All it is, is a "lying" thing. It is all just personal, with Trump. I'm not opposing any Trump policies, I'm not supporting any Trump policies. I don't think that Trump has any policies. I think he just careens from one news cycle to the next, playing it in whatever way suits his public relations needs at the moment.

As was the case with Trump's bizarre televised immigration meeting. That wasn't about any immigration policy. It was about Trump's posturing himself against the Wolff book, "Fire and Fury."

So you have a choice. You can either believe a Democrat who has a proven track record as a liar, or you can believe multiple Republicans.

I do believe multiple Republicans:
~Lindsey Graham
~Tim Scott
~Jeff Flake, and everybody who Flake talked to in person immediately after the White House meeting.
~Rich Lowry, who thinks that "shit house" might have been uttered in addition to or possibly instead of "shithole."

I'm not sure that I disbelieve Tom Cotton, who might someday face a confirmation hearing as Trump's next CIA director if Tillerson resigns at State and Mike Pompeo replaces him. I'm sure that Cotton is desperate beyond understanding, to not upset Trump. But Cotton has done a "shitty" job of denying that "shithole" was a word that was used. Cotton stated that he didn't recall it, and now when pressed says he didn't hear it. That's not like saying, "It wasn't used at all; I know that." Which is all that I am interested in. I think Cotton is weaseling desperately so as to be less of a provably brazen liar.

This was not a bi partisan agreement. 2 people, one a far leftist liar Dick Durbin, another, a Democrat that caucuses with the Republicans. Durbin who lied before when he claimed in another private meeting, that A Republican stated he hated Obama and could not stand to look at him. A proven lie. President Trump said he would sign legislation (the only thing a President can sign), even hinted a full amnesty for all, of his for pillars of the structured deal included the end to chain migration, increased boarder security, including a wall, and the end to the immigration lottery. Due to the dearth of information about the two person agreement, (not bi partisan legislation) because Republicans respect private conversations, and Democrats only leak that information they can weaponize The Durbin (not the Democrat caucus)Grahm deal only covered the dreamers and differed almost everything else into the future. Not the legislation the President Trump said he would sign.
Shithole Durbin intentionally blew up any chance at a negotiated agreement How can any Republican set down with any Democrat when they will leak anything that they believe, will embarrass,Republicans but that is of no consequence because shithole That is the question. A question the media will not ask because the answer will expose the true crazy in DC, taking up residence in the Democrat caucus

Chuck,

You are an incredibly rude guest at the professor's table and your LLR shtick has worn thin. You try to tell her what she should write and call her other guests all sorts of names because they disagree with your opinions. I think it speaks highly of Ann that she allows you at her table at all with your pushy arrogance and monomaniacal diatribes.

If you were at my table and acted that way you would be laying out in the street looking for a cab ride home. Grow up and act like an adult not the spoiled brat you seem to be.

Ann, although I rarely comment here I find you have one of the best comment sections that I have seen (Chuck notwithstanding).

So you're saying that Trump really did say "shithole countries" and that Dick Durbin wronged Trump by telling the press about it?

fwiw; I am not so sure that Durbin leaked the story. I think it could have been Jeff Flake. Flake wasn't in the meeting, but he met with the Republicans who were in the meeting immediately afterward. And Flake says that they pretty much all said (and agreed) what Trump said.

Lordy, I just want a recording of what was said in that room, with the Republicans all talking behind Trump's back!

Althouse used to have rules/instructions for her commenters. I repeatedly begged her, via email and in comments, to enforce them vis a vis all of the countless personal attacks on me by pro-Trump commenters.

But Althouse has repeatedly explained that she believes strongly in free speech. And she further explained that it was too troublesome to moderate all comments, and that she had no technology to block individual commenters, and in any event she recently jettisoned those old rules/instructions.

Mary,

You are quick to call people you have never met racist.

I am a white male married to a black Caribbean female. We have two grown mixed race children and we live in a very diverse working-class neighborhood. My wife's parents immigrated here when she was very young, legally. Am I a racist?

My wife, in-laws, and kids think that if some one wants to enter the US they should do so legally and if they are here illegally they should be sent back to their country of origin.

Does that make us all "racist" or are you just an obnoxious poseur?

Waiting for your reply.

Sincerely,

Theo

Lordy,

For someone whose only coherent self-declared point of identity with conservatism or the Republican Party is your anti-gay bias...you're a bigger faggot than Titus.

"Lordy," he says. Snort! Where'd they grow you? You and Comey, who is a bigger pillow-biter than you, only because he's taller.

Get this through your head, my poofty pal: The Republican Party has been taken away from you. It's gone. Your clutching hands are empty. You're not in charge anymore. Stop acting like a boss. You're nobody's boss. You can't even control yourself.

In the words of that letter the FBI faked up to MLK to goad him to suicide: There's only one thing left for you to do.

I would be happy to be your second.

PS. That bottle you won off Fabi - how fast did you guzzle that bad boy? I bet you're a shikker.

Chuck,

Just because Ann doesn't moderate her forum anymore doesn't mean that you need be as obnoxious as you are as it only ruins anything substantive you might want to say. If your argument is a strong one you do not need to be rude even if others are being rude to you. By responding in kind you cheapen your talking points to the point of farce.

As far as your obsession with whether Trump said or didn't say "shit hole" it makes you seem kind of weird in the same way CNN is coming off unhinged because of their obsession with the same.

Look, we all know you hate Trump to the very bone but jesus man get a grip.

Theodore James; have you seen, how I am routinely personally attacked here? Like, on this page. But on too many other pages to count. Often, when I have not offered any comment of my own, or before I have commented at all.

I used to reply with a lot of invective and some choicely-foul language. As you say, it was only demeaning to myself in the end. Because it didn't slow down my detractors one bit. So I have tried to dial it back a bit.

(Also, as I have already mentioned, I implored Althouse to do something about it but she declined. In fairness to her, she gave it a bit of an effort -- cleaning up comments -- for a while. But the sheer amount of nasty personal attacks was understandably overwhelming. I think it is because she declined to make an example out of anybody. But that's just me.)

Chuck, or is it cuck? I never claimed to agree with the Durbin lie. Just pointing out the Durbin has come out of private negotiations before and lied about what was said. And that Durbin chose to blew up any chance at meaningful dialogue, by speaking of a private meeting. The rules, all adults understand that private meetings stay private. If you have a problem with one person, you talk to them alone and straighten things out or agreee to disagree. But then, that is my adult world. People trust me, and are willing to bare all in order to come to and agreement that allows both parties to claim victory. Durbin is opposite that, and proves that Democrats don't give a shit hole, for honest dialogue.
Flake? Do you always invent shit hole stuff that has no basis in fact??? Durbin is the only person that makes the claim. You have no facts that support anything but the act that Durbin is the shit hole

Chuck,

Yeah these guys are picking on you. Don't rise to their bait, take the hits. You choose to comment here knowing that there are some rather rough characters in these parts and so they are rough with you. If you complain to the Blogress you are only showing you have succumbed to those bullies.

It would be nice if you made arguments that were more objective but they all seem to revolve on your Trump hatred.

Be objective and ignore the taunts.

If you can.
