"Dad... Trump tweeted about your column, but he included your email instead of the column link."

Said Michael Goodwin's daughter, quoted in "This is what happens when POTUS tweets out your email address."

Goodwin — who'd written "We’re still better off with Trump than Clinton" — got thousands of emails. (Only thousands, not millions.)

Some were looking to him to send the column so they could read it. Some of these were anti-Trumpers:
“Please forward the full article that the dumbest president in the entire history of dumb states of America was alluding to in his recent tweet about himself... With apologies in advance for being the gazillionth person to ask.”
Some wrote to say "Fuck you," like the guy (named by Goodwin) who wrote "FUCK YOU!" 75 times and: “The buffoon actually posted your email address on his Twitter. I hope you get 3 million hate emails."

And: "I was subscribed to gay websites, and penis images were attached to a number of emails sent my way. All of which struck me as mighty strange. Here are these so-called liberals who still think the greatest insult is to call someone gay. Their homophobia is out of the closet."

Yep. Although "the latest proof" is really more accurate.

-- The 'explanation' I get for this is the liberal using the insult doesn't think it is insulting, but thinks it will enrage the recipient of the insult. So basically, "You made me do it!"

@ Goodwin.

What? you only have one email address? Get a new one then! Get several. One for personal communications. Another for business purposes. Another for your writing. Another for buying things on the internet. Another for when you comment various places. Another for junk stuff and spam that you don't want to touch your personal email.

Email accounts are like T shirts anymore. When they get dirty, just throw them away and get a new shirt.

Duh.

Not sure if serious. The email address in question was mgoodwin@nypost and had been public for years. So...pretty sure he's got other accounts.

Why does insulting someone using a term lime faggot imply the insulter is lacking any valid criteria to be afraid of homosexuals in a normal way?

I say "you trash" as an insult do you assume I must then fear trash sans rationale?

"You dumb drunk perverted Kraut Mic" means I fear myself irrationally? I got plenty of reasons for topical, applicable fears about myself keep in mind.

Birches said...

I have found the same thing with gay slurs. I have a lefty friend that calls someone she detests a dyke. It's weird. People do say that's so gay, but it isn't in a malicious way.

Guildofcannonballs said...

My working assumption is it must be a "oh they fear what they don't understand so they are irrational" but this dog don't hunt. I know more about gay than gays, Islam than Muslims, politics than politicians, and law than lawyers.

The key is Christ and His Holy Bible. Probably lotto-winning genetics too but you really can't know about yourself...

We need a term for the inevitability that any given anonymous angry leftist will resort to homophobic insults. Call it, say, Goodwins's Law.

Yep, if you think you are an enlightened liberal and your go to insult is to yell "F*G" at someone, maybe you should think about getting some counseling. Cause to this conservative christian who would never think about doing something like that, it looks to me like you got some issues.

What about motherfucker?

Ron Winkleheimer said...

What about motherfucker?

If you want people to think you're an actual adult then yelling motherfucker at people is contraindicated. You appear to have serious anger management issues.

Ron Winkleheimer said...

Hey, I was in the army. I said motherfucker numerous times. Then I realized, I need to grow up and clean up my language or nobody will take me seriously.

Did those motherfuckers take you seriously after that?

@Jason

Yes, they did.

Thanks for the advice Ron. You seem like a serious guy to me. ;)

It was his NYT address. Which normally doesn't get much mail, it seems.

Yes, and they do it a lot. You see/hear it regularly when they have no argument to make.

I didn't mean you specifically had anger management issues. Just that someone yelling motherfucker did.

That's the left's newest little trick.

Say, for instance, a leftist bans a conservative on Twitter or hits one over the head with a stick at an Antifa rally.

Conservatives: It's really terrible to ban speech and to hit someone over the head with a stick. You shouldn't do that.

Leftists: Oho, look at the Trumpists whining! You snowflakes!

We're supposed to just shut up and take it, you see. When we don't, they project their own whining and absurd oversensitivity on to us. They hate being called "snowflakes" and are trying to co-opt the term, since they try to co-opt everything.

It doesn't work though. Blubbering about how terrible it is to see Trump's name chalked on the sidewalk and how you need a safe space and puppies and Play Doh to get over the trauma of it is not equivalent to standing up for yourself because a leftist has doxed you or beaten you or spit on you - you know, all the lovely little tactics leftists have adopted to deal with people of differing views.

Trump and his tweeting, lol.

This morning the President got confused by a Fox news segment and lashed out at his own FISA reauthorization bill on Twitter.

Here’s a White House statement from last night, opposing an amendment that would restrict intelligence surveillance under FISA.

Fox News tricks President into opposing his own bill.

Matt Sablan said...

Politicians being for it before they were against it never gets old.

(Though, Trump's tweet seems to be a question -- since it ends with a question mark. I think he's asking: "Is this the law that was used to get a warrant to surveil/tap my campaign?" Then, his later tweet says: "With that being said, I have personally directed the fix to the unmasking process since taking office and today’s vote is about foreign surveillance of foreign bad guys on foreign land. We need it! Get smart!"

... So, TPM seems to be wrong. Trump is stating that the problems with the original bill have now been fixed, so he supports it.

Reading comprehension: FTW.

Trump tweet 1: “House votes on controversial FISA ACT today.” This is the act that may have been used, with the help of the discredited and phony Dossier, to so badly surveil and abuse the Trump Campaign by the previous administration and others?

Trump tweet the second: "With that being said, I have personally directed the fix to the unmasking process since taking office and today’s vote is about foreign surveillance of foreign bad guys on foreign land. We need it! Get smart!"

-- Not sure how anyone reads that as Trump being AGAINST the legislation.

It's not just liberals/progressives who fear/hate the transgender spectrum. It includes politicians and psychos who invent and propagate/appropriate labels (e.g. "gay") to dissect it into politically convenient, emotionally appealling diversity classes.

Humans are genetically defined by a male and female binary sex, and masculine and feminine gender (i.e. physical and mental traits) that are distributed normally with a small standard deviation. The transgender spectrum includes men and women with transverse sexual orientations, including men with feminine sexual orientations or male homosexual.

Liberals tend to be the most racist and homophobic people you are likely to meet if you are not in a neo-Nazi group. Not all, of course, but one has to remember that a big part of liberal SJW virtue signalling is projecting their sins onto others, and modern liberalism i all about defining groups and then pigeon-holing people into them.

“As impressive as it may have been for Trump to sit upright and participate in a discussion of public policy while only subverting his administration’s position one time, an immediate Executive Time relapse has revealed that Trump does not understand his own administration’s policy.

Update: Apparently somebody has explained the administration’s position to the president, who has followed up his old tweet opposing the House bill with a new one supporting it:

Donald J. Trump

He was watching Judge Napalatano speaking about this bill and your President got confused about what his own administration stance on it was, lol.

“Creating some confusion, Trump briefly took aim Thursday morning at the program despite his administration's official support for renewing it, suggesting 702 was used to "badly surveil and abuse" his campaign based on the "phony" Trump dossier.

“This is the act that may have been used, with the help of the discredited and phony Dossier, to so badly surveil and abuse the Trump Campaign by the previous administration and others?” Trump tweeted.

Trump's opposition, though, didn't last long. Later Thursday morning, he posted a follow-up tweet clarifying that he has sought changes to the law and voicing support for the surveillance program.

"With that being said, I have personally directed the fix to the unmasking process since taking office and today’s vote is about foreign surveillance of foreign bad guys on foreign land. We need it! Get smart!" he tweeted.

It was an apparent attempt to get back on the same page with his own administration, which backs the so-called 702 program.

This excerpt states what happened pretty clearly, so Exiled and Matthew can comprehend it better.

“President Trump caught Republican leadership by surprise on Thursday morning with his tweets on FISA renewal, according to five sources close to the situation.

Why it matters: Sources in GOP leadership were horrified by a tweet they consider wildly irresponsible given the national security stakes. Per a source close to Republican leaders: “I have decided that the only way to stay sane in Trump’s Washington is to ignore everything he says.“

Top Hill sources are trying to figure out who “got to” Trump to influence him to write the first tweet.

Where the suspicion is focused:

Some high-profile Freedom Caucus members are vehemently opposed to this legislation. One member who is known to talk to Trump privately — Mark Meadows — told Axios he "did not encourage POTUS on anything related to 702."

Fox & Friends seems to have inspired the specific language of Trump's tweet. Host Steve Doocy told Andrew Napolitano around 6:40 this morning: "Our lead story today was about how apparently that dirty dossier filled up with stuff just made up apparently used in part to get a FISA warrant to spy on President Trump, then candidate Trump."

Sen. Rand Paul told MSNBC on Thursday that he has spoke with Trump on the issue.

Trump tweet one (7:13 am): "'House votes on controversial FISA ACT today.' This is the act that may have been used, with the help of the discredited and phony Dossier, to so badly surveil and abuse the Trump Campaign by the previous administration and others?"

Trump tweet two (9:14 am): "With that being said, I have personally directed the fix to the unmasking process since taking office and today’s vote is about foreign surveillance of foreign bad guys on foreign land. We need it! Get smart!"

Trump's tweet number one is correct. This is the old law under which the "dossier' was used to get FISC surveillance on the Trump campaign. Sara Carter report today.

The second tweet encourages passage of the revised act in the House. It was passed today. So that Tweet was in support of a successful first legislative step.

Inga, I miss whatever point it is that you are trying to make.
