"A senior adviser to Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign who was accused of repeatedly sexually harassing a young subordinate was kept on the campaign at Mrs. Clinton’s request..."

"... according to four people familiar with what took place," the NYT reports.
Mrs. Clinton’s campaign manager at the time recommended that she fire the adviser, Burns Strider. But Mrs. Clinton did not. Instead, Mr. Strider was docked several weeks of pay and ordered to undergo counseling, and the young woman was moved to a new job.

Mr. Strider, who was Mrs. Clinton’s faith adviser, a co-founder of the American Values Network, and sent the candidate scripture readings every morning for months during the campaign, was hired five years later to lead an independent group that supported Mrs. Clinton’s 2016 candidacy, Correct the Record, which was created by a close Clinton ally, David Brock.

He was fired after several months for workplace issues, including allegations that he harassed a young female aide, according to three people close to Correct the Record’s management....

The woman’s experience and the reaction to it have not been previously reported. Until now, former Clinton associates were unwilling to discuss the events for publication.

But that changed in the wake of the #MeToo movement...
These people never cared at all. They're just afraid now that The Reckoning is closing in. It's too late to not be complicit. Hillary Clinton has zero credibility on the issue of sexual harassment. And the Democratic Party that pushed her on us as its candidate has basically no credibility either.

I can at some level understand psychopaths like HW - he's just an evil, sick scumbag.
I can almost understand how a successful really attractive guy, who has no moral sense, would get into the habit of sexually harassing women he worked with and maybe occasionally even "scoring" through the effort.
But guys like this one, who are middle-aged and not at all attractive -- what is the possible payoff of hitting on cute young women who would have no rational reason to be attracted to you? Is there some thrill in triggering looks of disgust and repulsion? I really, really, really do not get it.

Isn't this just another thing that "everybody knew" but was kept hidden from the masses to protect Hillary? It's being publicized now because the Democratic party leaders don't want Hillary to run again. If she makes another move towards running, look for worse stuff to come out.

"Correct the Record", are you kidding me? More importantly, how can something created by David Brock be labeled "independent"?

I'm sure Hillary rated Strider doings as a 2 on the Bill Clinton 1-10 scale of sexual harassment. I mean she did nothing about the guy who scored a 10. No big deal.

Truth! I've never understood why this wasn't obvious ever since Bill was in office. Of course, the Democrats have also been the party of racists AND those that benefit from racial preferences and race-baiting. How was the party of the KKK able to successfully paint Republicans as racist all these years and how has the party of Ted Kennedy and Bill Clinton been able to credibly claim it was the Republicans who were waging a war on women?

“The children are watching” LOL, what a tone deaf bitch. Completely surrounded by sycophants, like the Queen of Hearts in that cartoon, anybody not a sycophant is terrified. Clueless about how the people not subject to her wrath feel about her.

I once watched a documentary on Hillary while I was in the UK, and they had an interview with the actress who played “Louise” in the Harry and Louse ads. She said that Hillary demanded that she make a counter ad, like the new Sprint ads with the “Can you hear me now?” guy. She said that Hillary said that she had “friends in Hollywood [Harvey Weinstein] who could be very good for her career, or very bad for it.” The actress said that she was shocked. She was a Democrat, and this was how she imagined Republicans acted. I wish I could remember the name of it.

Anyway, they got to her apparently, because her more recent public statements are all full on pro Hillary. It would be hell in Hollywood to have to navigate your career around one man black-list Harvey.

I don't disagree!

But what of it? Are you searching for someone who has credibility? Who isn't "complicit"?

I take it that Althouse's underlying point is that Democrats -- and most particularly Clinton Democrats -- can't scold Republicans, and most particularly Trump and Trump-supporting Republicans, on the subject of sexual harassment.

So stipulated, counsel.

I'm not a Clinton Democrat. And if pushed hard enough, I might not be a Trump Republican. I am certainly not going to defend/rationalize/diminish/downplay any of the sexual harassment allegations made against Trump. The ones that in more than 200 posts tagged with "sexual harassment" since the beginning of The Reckoning, Althouse has barely mentioned, and no more than a small handful of times, usually indirectly.

I have no hypocrisy to answer for on this one. I find both Clintons and Trump to be equally distasteful, with a bit of a policy nod going to Trump.

There are already enough pixels dedicated to Trump’s depravity, nobody can be unaware of it at this point. But still, I was just watching CNN, and they were professing shock, shock! that this “feminist stalwart” accepted this behavior.

At some point during her husband's campaign, she specified that she preferred to be called "Mrs." This was about the same time that she was trying to give out cookie recipes and generally soften her image for the cameras. Of course, she's never been able to directly walk that back, and the media still feels obligated to pretend that this was, of course, her true preference and not some naked political posture.

I'm not happy about Trump, but this is about the 100th time that I've been grateful that I won't someday have to experience my now-toddler daughter learning about Hillary Clinton's historic role as the first female president.

This makes me even more happy.

The Dems don't care about sexual harassment. They care about it, if they can use to nail their opponents (like Clarence Thomas or Bob Packwood). They don't care about it, if it hurts their supporters like Bill Clinton or the campaign flunky described above.

Whether there are flawed Republicans or not, the party stands for traditional moral values. That's why Republicans are conservative.

Whether there are upright and moral Democrats, the party stands for non-traditional and immoral 'values.' That's a consequence of collecting single issue voters groups as a coalition -- or maybe a consequence of so-called liberal values. Or some combination.

It is surprising when a Republican gets caught with his pants down (or I guess her skirt up), it is not surprising when a Democrat gets caught.

I’m almost certain that the #metoo campaign was a Democratic hitjob on the Clintons. There was a lot of collateral damage and it exposed a lot of legimitmate issues. But it’s hitting too close to Hillary for it not to be a targeted campaign. The Weinstein money train was nuked. Bill Clinton is neutralized. The left now have to believe Bill’s accusers because the left must believe accusers never lie. Plus, it wasn’t likely that liberal women would accuse conservative men because liberal women don’t spend much time with conservative men. (So they project the actions of liberal men on conservative men). Nope, it’s the liberal men who have used the mask of feminism as a route into panties since the 60s and they were simply too close to the blast zone. (And, they 100% deserve what they’re getting)

Now, logic ain’t the Left’s best skill. But it doesn’t take Mr. Spock to make the connection that the DNC needed the Clintons gone for 2018 and 2020 elections and #metoo just conveniently did the job exceptionally (well, at least a flesh wound (pun!))

No, it working fine just the other day, when I listened to Trump talking about immigration. The siren was blaring the whole time. It took some unusually strong bullshit to break it because I had bought the Trump-Proof™ XL Balloon BS upgrade at the start of last year.

I will admit that it did take a bit of beating listening to Zinke explain why Florida will not be getting any offshore oil drilling. This could have weakened it, but Tim's BS was too strong for the thing. That's clear.

Looks like Steve Wynn is the right’s Harvey Weinstein.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/ct-biz-steve-wynn-sexual-misconduct-allegations-20180126-story.html

Republican leaders remained silent Friday about allegations of sexual misconduct against casino mogul Steve Wynn, who serves as finance chairman of the Republican National Committee and would not say whether he plans to relinquish his role.

The accusations leveled against the businessman, a rival-turned-confidant of President Donald Trump, gave Democrats an opening to revive attacks on the GOP.

In recent months, Democrats and Republicans have called on the opposing party to return financial contributions or cut ties with prominent individuals accused of sexual misconduct. When allegations against entertainment executive Harvey Weinstein surfaced last fall, RNC Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel and other GOP leaders quickly called on the Democratic National Committee, its House and Senate campaign arms and individual Democratic candidates and lawmakers to refund his thousands of dollars in donations.
