Crazy, nosy survey the Wisconsin State Journal wants me to take before it will let me see "Monroe Street reconstruction bids at least $3 million over budget."

On the off chance you're interested in the improvements to Monroe Street, here's the article.

You can check every box, and be completely conflicted.

How is that helpful?

It looks like you have very mixed feelings about the Monroe Street reconstruction bids.

I attempted to view your link to the Monroe St. improvements, but encountered a paywall.

I can never read Wisconsin State Journal articles. They seem to have a paywall only for me.

OK, not just me.

Usability experts strongly advise against asking users for information that you'd like, but they don't see why you have the right to. Users feel completely justified in lying in such cases, so whatever information you get is wrong, and the users dislike you too.

"overhead utility lines are slated to be put underground"

Worth every penny.

Those lines are always hideous.

Out of six choices only one is decidedly positive.

Which means I think they know their target audience: a bunch of complainers and whiners.

Which lets them know they need to come up with more 'Trump is Evil' stories.

That's how I read that.

"Ald. Sara Eskrich..."

Ald. is an abbreviation for "Alder", they saved one keystroke!

I could understand in the past when it was Alderman and Alderlesbian, but come on.

On a scale of one to eleventy, how awful is your life now that Trump is President?

A little off-topic but this is the sort of thing that keeps a lot of people [myself included] from participating in polls. The pollsters are never content to just ask a question or two but expect you to answer long lists of sometimes personal questions, like income level, etc. So poll results are already skewed toward the opinions of willing poll participants.

Wow, five negative feeling choices and one positive.

"Wow, five negative feeling choices and one positive."

I know, and the survey itself induces negative feelings, so who could say "happy or joyful"?

I do not know the background and neither do you and you will never find out from reading the newspaper.

I have designed and estimated the cost of a number of street improvement projects and have been caught out 30% low when a project was delayed in the bureaucracy and/or inflation took off for some reason, and 30% high when someone managed to dislodge the funding jam so that the project went to bids earlier than expected and/or inflation took a rest for some reason or other.

How can anybody be happy with Orange Literally Hitler in the WH? We are all going to die. Actually, we all should have died last week.

We did die last week. We are zombies.

Don't zombies eat brains? Since I now work in a pretty liberal area but live in a conservative community, I might have to skip lunch and wait until I get home.

Now, Ann and Meade. Don't you think your property taxes are being well spent?
The first thing we do in my neck of the woods is find out how the contractors are related to people in the city government.

Yes and Madison is rife with them. Bury those ugly things. Taxes well spent.

Back in our younger and more energetic days we hosted a massive adult dress-up Halloween party. One year my wife dressed up as the little-known eighth dwarf Bitchy.

@Rusty,
If the bidding process is crooked, that is the Owner's fault.

Wait, you mean 30% of Republicans did not actually believe that Obama was a secret Muslim?
