Wow! Truly beautiful. Nice job Melania and staff! Huge round of applause.

The decorations look kind of cheesy to me, actually, but still better than what I would've expected from the Trumps.

Beautiful!

(The coat on the shoulders thing is weird but I'll forgive it.)

I really love the wreaths.

If Orange Hitler was really the answer to an alt-right traditionalist extremist Nazi's Santa wishlist, the White House wouldn't be putting up those trees until Christmas Eve!

I'll give 'em a pass if they keep them up until Epiphany.

I'm dreaming of the Whitest Christmas.

Bad Lieutenant said...

Not a ton of red or green, the blue and white are almost Hanukkah colors. Very pretty.

HoodlumDoodlum said...

She is an attractive woman (in a sort of cold Eurasian way) and certainly very stylish; the White House decorations look nice.

I still stick with my policy, though, of not caring about First Ladies, or First Families, or British Royals...for roughly the same reason(s).

Fabi said...

Stunning.

There you go again, normalizing her. Even the NYT doesn't sink so far.

So much white and silver, when The Donald grooves on gold. Melania looks great, but to be fair, even Kim Jong Un's wife ain't bad.

Unknown said...

Decorations and FLOTUS both exquisite.

White privilege!!

readering said...

I don't like looking at Christmas decorations before the first Sunday of Advent but these do look attractive.

Fabi said...

They were very clever in hiding all the swastika ornaments from the cameras. Well done!

Doubt we will find any ornaments with Mao on them, as compared to days past.

David said...

I can do without the over the top decorations but she can come to my house any day she wants to.

mockturtle said...

Did I see a creche in there somewhere? They'll hear about that!

Lovely decorations, lovely FLOTUS.

Wince said...

How very thoughtful and bipartisan of her @0:04 to map-out the location of all the trees set-up inside the White House.

That way all the visiting left-wing celebrities know all the locations where they can spooge.

Bay Area Guy said...

Very nice production! I like it.

Probably worth 60,000 to 70,000 votes for 2020 -- an added benefit.

Inga...Allie Oop said...

Just gorgeous! I love this First Lady, she really is the best thing in this Trump Presidency. How does she keep those cloaks and coats from falling off her shoulders?

This is stunning. I walked through a lobby today with a similar scheme. It was a beautiful walk. Zhivagoey! It made me happy...

How could somebody with such common taste ever get elected? It's a mystery!

A winter wonderland.

“We've gone from"Happy Holidays" back to "Merry Christmas." What a difference a year makes!”

Ah, the fictional War on Christmas! I’m quite sure that those who insisted on saying Happy Holidays will still be saying it, lol.

Inga...Allie Oop said...

“Slovenian women are always worth adoring!”

Melania is a Slovenian woman with a German roots.

pacwest said...

She's a keeper. Trump in 2020.

Melania is a Slovenian woman with a German roots.

I thought that was her natural hair color.

Yancey Ward said...

Were any of these decorations Russian? I suggest Robert Mueller carefully examine this clip.

Assistant Village Idiot said...

We have Martha Stewart as FLOTUS. I'm okay with that.

@Unknown. It depends what you mean by "war." For the holiday parties where I work, there can be no mentions of Christmas, nor any music played that has a religious theme, because we are a state agency. That rule is often broken, but it's there, just ripe for someone to get punished someday. That is not locking people up for having Christian beliefs by a long shot, but it is also silly, as the "holiday season" would not exist in America but for the Christian holiday. It is an attempt to not only disestablish Christianity - I can see the point of being strict about that - it is also an attempt to erase history because it's got Jesus in it. That seems to deserve the label "war" in the arena of symbolism, at least.

MadisonMan said...

(The coat on the shoulders thing is weird but I'll forgive it.)

Agreed.

I haven't seen anyone copy it...yet.

Sebastian said...

She is indeed adorable.

Still, as we all know, and as prog nihilists eagerly remind us, life is bad, bad.

Inga...Allie Oop said...

“That seems to deserve the label "war" in the arena of symbolism, at least.”

While it’s very sad that you can’t mention the actual Holiday, I don’t think it’s so much a “war” as an overzealous attempt at fairness for those who aren’t Christians. I’m liberal and have never been put off when someone says Merry Christmas to me. Strangers most often say Happy Hanukkah to me assuming I’m Jewish, I just say Happy Hanukkah back and don’t take offense. I’ll happily accept Happy Holidays as holiday greeting also, in the spirit of Christmas.

n.n said...

Not only Merry Christmas. But, Ho! Ho! Ho!, too... we'll have a gay olde time.

Was Preston Bailey involved? It looks like his work. He did the Melissa Rivers wedding at the Plaza.

Wow, that does look great.

"The decorations look kind of cheesy to me"

LOL - just the kind of goofy, "snobiness" from peeps who have no reason to be "snobby" about anything.

You should go work for the New Yorker.

Please someone, show me "tasteful" Christmas Tree decoration. One that doesn't bore the hell out of everyone.

320Busdriver said...

Official Blue Room tree is from Shawano WI this year.

CWJ said...

Pitch perfect right down to the tweet. Merry Christmas seamlessly followed by a joyous holiday season for everyone. A dual sentiment behind which all people of genuine goodwill should be able to get.

Yep. Seems a little Mrs. Thurston Howell. But wow. The White House looks fantastic.

Fabi said...

"Seems a little Mrs. Thurston Howell."

What a coincidence -- Melania likes it when I call her "Lovey".

paminwi said...

320Busdriver: the tree is actually from Endeavor, WI.
I wanted to correct that since I know the family.
They had a very interesting story to tell when their tree was selected during the Clinton administration-during the Monica Lewinsky affair!
And shared positive comments about what nice people George & Laura Bush were.

320Busdriver said...

Thanks Pam. I saw this article which mentions both locales. Looks like the firm in Shawano actually transported the tree.

"According to WLUK, Jim, Diane and David Chapman, owners of Silent Night Evergreens in Endeavor, Wisconsin were crowned the winners of the National Christmas Tree Contest. Therefore, they’ll be working with Hanauer’s Christmas Tree Farms in Shawano to provide the tree."

What, are you twelve? It's been a European thing for ages. I've seen Italian men doing it in the 1920s in pictures--and I suspect it goes back a lot farther. Makes it easier to conceal a gun in your hand--stereotypes aside.

Biff said...

The amount of bile and spittle in the twitter replies is impressive. So much hatred on the left!

"Everyday is Christmas without Hillary."

Oh, yeah! Hannukah and Kwanza too.

Lucien said...

So per Instapundit, Politico has apparently asked press members invited to the White House Christmas party: "Do you either like or dislike that the event has been changed from a “holiday party” to a “Christmas party”? Does this affect your decision to attend?"

So while Inga shrugs it off, clearly Politico cared enough to ask. Curious what the answers might be.

The Cracker Emcee Refulgent said...

Melania must, at times, feel disbelief at where her life has taken her. All over Slovenia mothers are telling their daughters that they, too, can grow up to be First Lady of the United States.

Well? Do you know the story? You obviously know how to type...how about tell this story?

Pleeeeeze?

"While it’s very sad that you can’t mention the actual Holiday, I don’t think it’s so much a “war” as an overzealous attempt at fairness for those who aren’t Christians."

No. An attempt at fairness would not dictate an attempt to remove the name of the holiday from public use. That tactic constitutes a direct attack. 'War' if you will.

Peace on Earth, Goodwill to Men.

Completely relevant to a staged indoor video of a woman orchestrating Christmas decorations in the United States in 2017. *shrug*

Well, thank you, Althouse, I say it is not only Time for adoration, it is well past time.

We have lost a whole year of getting to enjoy this gorgeous immigrant bride of our favorite president, what an exhilarating example of the possibilities in America. We could have been basking in the promise of her beauty at every checkstand all through 2017 if normalcy had not been hijacked by our elite totalitarian publishers.

Like everything else she has been part of, this is exquisite. Good for Melania and her team.

I read the Twitter comments. God Almighty, but the crass hatefulness of the left is depressing! Don't these people have any room in their hearts for a little joy, a little beauty? It seems like TDS has oozed into and infected every aspect of their lives. As a wise man once said: Sad!

Jason said...

I think, “how much more white could this Christmas be?” And the answer is: None. None more white.

Kyzer SoSay said...

The left has no joy in their hearts and no use for beauty except as something to tear down.

"All over Slovenia mothers are telling their daughters that they, too, can grow up to be First Lady of the United States."

That a silly and servile comment with no basis in reality. It is demeaning to Slovenian mothers and daughters. I hope that some Slovenia daughters strive to be president of Slovenia, and the rest strive to be whatever they want to be.

I think it's one of those things they learn at modeling school, along with how to walk gracefully in heels.

It's really nice to know that I can comfortably set the over/under on the number of Mao Tse-Tung ornaments at zero.
