A lot of hand-waving here to tie this to "collusion" given that the man worked for Trump for 24 days.

I especially liked this line: If the senior Flynn is charged, he would be the first current or former Trump administration official formally accused of criminal wrongdoing by the Mueller team.

Ummm, there still haven't been any "current Trump administration officials" charged, this doesn't change that, but they wanted to write it so badly.

Saudi Prince Alwaleed Arrested

This one's tough for lefties to spin into standard MSM Trump hate as Trump openly feuded with the prince. Likely MSM will try to throw the new Saudi regime under the bus despite recent pro feminist reforms.

So I search and searched the Althouse Flickr photos but found nary a pic of the Mandalay Bay with its busted windows. Nor were we kept apprised of the Vegas goings-on regarding the shooter's likely motives nor the mysterious shutdown of the disseminating of official news through press conferences - so the question is:

What the hell do you think we sent you out there for in the first place, Althouse?

Ann - Sorry, I didn't mean to offend or to step on a sore toe - it was my poor attempt to be funny.

On a more serious note, many would be interested in your take on the after-effect of this horrible event on Vegas as a wall-to-wall party town. Surely there must be some talk.

Perhaps another time in another post?

Some lefties commenting last night stated that it was too early to deem the attack on Rand Paul as politically motivated. In what comes as no shock to most, it was a politically motivated assault.

As an aside, Paul was on the softball field when Steve Scalise was shot by the Bernie supporter. Since Paul was not injured, this slipped by the radar. The party peace, tolerance and love may want to rethink their mantra.

I drove my two daughters past Mar a Lago last Christmas so that they could roll down the windows and flip off Trump. I think that later they closed the road during the time he is there. It didn't help, they are still convinced that it's a matter of avoiding nuclear war to impeach him. I haven't had the heart to tell them what kind of Senate majority they will need to do that.

Jaq said...

And after all of this hatred.

Yet for all his shortcomings, Trump runs a dead heat with Hillary Clinton among 2016 voters in a hypothetical rematch in this ABC News/Washington Post poll, underscoring Clinton’s own enduring unpopularity. Ninety-one percent of Trump voters say they’d support him again (albeit down from 96 percent in April). And marking a still-struggling opposition, 61 percent of Americans say Democratic leaders are mainly criticizing Trump, not presenting alternatives.

That's so depressing, that that many people would still vote for Hillary.

Not too far from where I live; my local news is on the scene. Story so far is that it was a small congregation and there were about 50 people there, and he shot every single one of them, including the 14 year old daughter of the pastor and a 2 year old child.

Horrible.

“Devin Patrick Kelley has been identified as the gunman who killed at least 24 people at a church in Texas, a U.S. official tells The Daily Beast. A week before he committed the worst massacre at a place of worship in American history, Kelley posted a photo of an assault rifle to Facebook with the caption: “She's a bad bitch.”

Kelley, 26, was a resident of New Braunfels, a suburb of San Antonio, according to public records. Kelley was married and his mother-in-law listed a P.O. box in Sutherland Springs as a mailing address. San Antonio police reportedly raided Kelley's home on Sunday evening. A LinkedIn account appearing to belong to Kelley describes him as serving in the U.S. Air Force from his 2009 high-school graduation until 2013, after which he briefly taught at a summer Bible school.“

You need to name it to defeat it. As w/ Texas today (and the many hundreds of other annual mass shootings in the States) this was not just murder. It was Islamo facist terrorism. Must be named to be defeated.

Duh.

If Islam has nothing to do with any of it, then given the nearly vanishingly small Islamic population in the United States, they should be showing up pretty rarely, somewhere around the numbers of Jewish mass murderers.

No, whites certainly murder, and whites are punching above their weight in the serial killer department. It's just that given the fact that Muslims are such a tiny percentage of the population, they sure are punching above their weight in the mass murder department.

You seem to be the one in some kind of denial about statistics and probabilities. I guess because you think that stuff is for losers. Or at least your character here does.

Trump got the Suads to agree to shut down funding of the Wahabism during his early visit. That much was reported. Some of the players weren't to happy about it and now they are being purged. It's a rosy picture, but one of the possibilities. I've not seen any reporting to verify this. Darker interpretations are possible.

The Mandalay Bay windows have been replaced for a while now. Why would someone take that picture of them without giving them shirts first. I'm all for helping poor disadvantaged youths with horrible medical issues, but that just seems cruel exploitation to me. I bet they don't even get any of the money collected to help them. Shameful!

Two reasons. One, the numbers favor it. Two, the character favors it. Specifically, whites have been conditioned to do something and do it well (e.g. complete).

"Since 1990, blacks represent the greatest percentage of serial killers as defined by the FBI"

That definition is not what most of us think of as serial killers, who are psychologically obsessed with killing. That definition includes gang killing which is something else. I already understand why that happens mostly with minorities, but why are Whites so over-represented among the other kind, who are very different and almost exclusively do it alone or with just one other person in the know. It's an entirely different thing, not better or worse, but definitely different.

I've got two theories.

1) Statistically, the majority of people in the country are white. Those types of serial killers are psychologically bizarre and fairly rare. It would make sense, from a statistical point of view, the profile would be a white man.

2) Totally unrelated. But African American church culture is based on community. The more people are intermeshed with community & church or other institutions, the harder it is to hide bizarre serial killings? Not as many loners?

mockturtle said...

Twas the church shooter, not the Rand Paul assaulter, who was Antifa.

mockturtle said...

But the Rand Paul assaulter was alleged to be a registered Democrat and had been a prolific poster of antiTrump messages. I doubt those features had anything to do with what was more likely a personal issue.

Besides, if you'd been paying attention, the 12-14% of the country that is black is over-represented population. Not white people.

The gunman in Texas was careful to choose a gun-free zone (also known as “shooter-magnets”). Churches are one of the few places in Texas where guns are illegal to carry. But after the gunman exited the church he also exited the gun-free zone and a passerby who had heard the gunfire shot the gunman as the gunman was attempting to leave the scene.

A good guy with a gun kept the gunman from possibly killing more people. The passerby, with another civilian, then followed the gunman in a car chase. After a few miles the gunman bled out and ended up running off the highway into a field – dead in his vehicle.

Any sizeable gathering in Texas is probably going to contain a few citizens who are armed and who will shoot back. So no matter if you are “crazy,” “deranged” or legally “insane,” if your intent is to murder some folks in Texas you need to be sane enough to plan carefully.
