At the Real Monochrome Café...

... we've made the adjustment to reality (after the Fake Monochrome Café yesterday). Thanks to the reader who believed me that the shirt was really brown (not blue) and manipulated the photograph into the truth.

And also true is that it's "Cyber Monday" — just another cyber Monday — and you might be shopping, so I want to nudge you to use The Althouse Amazon Portal. Your humbly brown-clad blogger will now return to the eating of cookies.

Here's something worth reading: Why can't Democrats leave the Little Sisters of the Poor alone?

Well, for one thing, Democrats do not believe in the rule of law. The Little Sisters of the Poor won at the Supreme Court, but that doesn't stop Democrats from continuing the harassment.

The question arises: did you eat it by biting off the head first. Freudians really need to know.

The Little Sisters of the Poor are all female.
The Democrats can't help the harassment.

Columbia Sportswear CEO Tim Boyle is regretting his move to downtown Portland.

His employee's are being harassed by all the homeless people, who break into their cars, and shit on the doorstep. Several employee's have been chased into traffic by mentally retarded insane vagabonds.

The city council has proposed that the homeless be allowed to sleep on people lawns.

The City of Roses, now has the smell of the City of Losers.

Full Disclosure: I escaped Portland in 1972.

There is something to be said about living in an area where the winters are sub zero freezing temperatures at night and barely above freezing during the day for months at a time. Cold, wet, snow and ice all deter the homeless from making themselves permanently at home.

We may have some summertime transients who deface and vandalize the area, but they generally (except for the most insane) move to warmer and milder climes and stay there. Plus, the residents in our area are NOT welcoming or even tolerant of the professional homeless and the really mentally ill are transported (thank God) to other areas where there are facilities to 'help' them because there is nothing here in the way of services or government facilities.

Go to Portland!!!

Your White Balance was probably wrong.
At first glance, and without the beak, I initially thought the cookie was shaped like the hand holding it.

GOP SENATOR TIM SCOTT ON ROY MOORE: ‘I Want to be on the Side of Right When the History Writes This Story.’

Oh Tim Scott have you learned nothing from your time in Washington, DC?

The "Side of Right"(tm) will constantly shift, and it will always shift in a way that leaves you on the wrong side.

At what time today is Trump and/or Sarah Huckabee Sanders going to be asked to please clarify whether or not he contests the authenticity of the Access Hollywood tapes and whether it was in fact his voice and whether Trump has ever denied or questioned the authenticity as was reported in the Times?

Jaq said...

You ok,Chuck? Why don't you rant some more about how Trump knew he was being wiretapped when transcripts of conversations kept getting leaked to the papers?

Of course, the Niners are 1-10 for the season, but.....

I've replaced our drinking water filters for the 10th time since I installed it years ago. The filters are getting expensive, and I should have bought them bulk. This is a reverse osmosis, under the sink, installation.

So anyway, I've been doing web searches on home distillers. Wow, those things are expensive. I'm looking at them, and I don't see why they should cost more than a fridge.

I read somewhere that it is mostly due to low volume sales. Not enough people own one. Make it so people buy them like a microwave, and the cost will come down (they say).

So anyway, my filters arrived today, and the water tastes yummy.

Compared to the tap water going in, the output is not cloudy, or dirty. With all the construction going on, they keep breaching our water pipes to add another connection, and each time it gets dirty.

I've been driving around at night and running the fire hydrants to clean out the pipes. Haven't been caught yet. They are killing my filters!

Why would you think having vodka on tap would be cheap?

They're too busy trying to prove she didn't bake that pie.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau was created by Congress with specific language defining its structure, as Congress passed — a single permanent director who can only take office upon appointment by the president and confirmation by the Senate. That language came from the Senate version, a fact that House sponsor, Barney Frank acknowledges, but Frank said it wasn't the original intent of the House bill.

That's too bad for Bawny Fwank and fwends, but the joint conference committee picked the Senate language - so all we are talking about here is who runs the agency while the President's nominee is approved by the Senate. It is time to get a life and to stop wasting taxpayer money in court - chasing an issue that cannot be overturned.

I hated it the first week but gave it 6 months and escaped after ten. My relatives all rave about Portland like it's nice or something. I have no idea why.

My next project is to make one. Hell. If a bunch of illiterate Scotts men can do it I don't see why I can't.
Looking for an old copper canning boiler.
Got one.

One of my brothers still lives in Portland. I keep telling him to move, but the house is paid for.

Big deal, I say. His neighbors house sold for $300k. His house is better! He can live anywhere nicer, and still have $150k left over.

I tell him, I think maybe he is one of those sanctuary city liberal bastards himself!

Boy that gets him mad.

All the articles on sex robots are making me think about the parallel to the release in California of 20 million sterilized male mosquitoes into the environment to decrease the population of mosquitoes.

Won't sex robots cause a substantial decrease in the population of First World countries, countries that already have a below-replacement rate of births?

What Happened deconstruct:

You would think, reading the next few pages that she and Obama were blossom buddies. According to her, we have him to blame for her making the decision to run. Well, he and Bill. “I was convinced that both Bill and Barack were right when they said I would be a better President than anyone else out there.” (Pg 55) Better than the sitting Vice-President. Better than anyone else in the entire country. Modesty is not one of her virtues.

Rusty: Get an old school pressure cooker from ebay/craigslist for cheap. You will have to buy a new gasket. It already has all the threaded fittings you need to hook up copper tubing and temperature gauge. Plenty of youtube how too's. Start off by distilling 3-buck chuck, then run the liquor through a Brita filter 3 or 4 times. Yum.

Howard said...

Etienne: You might consider running sediment and carbon filters instead of RO. RO takes out minerals that are good for you. The carbon will take out 95% of the chlorine and other organics.

The RO is going to plug up with all the particulates, so you should at least run a sediment filter upstream that you can clean with a hose out every so often.
