At Berkeley, fights break out in the "empathy tent." "The empathy tent was reportedly in place to offer protesters a calm place to unwind amid the choas around them," the NY Post reports.

This generation needs a Bob Dylan to write songs about the absurdity.
I read the article - the final passage is a nice nightcap:
“If you look at them, it’s ridiculous,” Marquis told the Los Angeles Times. “You’ve got a guy with purple hair with a f—ing lightsaber talking about Hitler. It’s hard for me to take any of this seriously.”
Not that there's anything wrong with having purple hair and carrying a lightsaber as a political statement, especially in Berkeley. I recommend the article.
It was supposed to be better to have them inside the tent pissing out.
Empathy tent? Isn't that my wife's book club meeting?
*ducks...
Reminds me of the violence at the Occupy Wherevers.
Is it powered by fairy cake-like the Total Pespective Vortex?
The Empathy Tent is notoriously Pro-Choice and diversity-oriented (i.e. bigoted).
Baby Lives Matter
Grievance studies majors don't tend to have much empathy.
Re: Matthew Sablan:

Wot, violence at Occupy? Impossible! Occupy is a peaceful movement -- any violence is the result of outside interlopers wholly unaffiliated with Occupy. It's like all those "peaceful" protests that mysteriously turn into riots at night. Absolutely unconnected, and it's a despicable calumny to suggest that there is any connection between them whatsoever.
Haha.
In all honestly, I'm inured to most sorts of media bias, but articles where journalists keep calling protests "peaceful" (or stretch to call them "mostly peaceful") after protesters have started setting cars on fire and throwing human waste at people actually make me mad.
Back in '04, a colleague had a grad student who was missing a lot of lab time to attend "antiwar" demonstrations. Eventually the student got arrested for assaulting a fellow demonstrator.
My colleague, plenty far to the left, got this news, shook his head and commented, "Puttin' the *fist* back into pacifist, is he?
There are two many Peter Sellers remakes these days...
Barack Obama as Chauncey Gardner...
James Comey as the bumbling Inspector Clouseau....
And now from Dr Strangelove...
"Gentlemen, you can't fight in here. It's the War Room!"
Crimson hair above my ears, poking thru my bandanna'd head
Starting fires with manure piles, learned tricks on the interweb
"We will destroy capitalism soon this time, " said I, proud 'neath heated brow
Ah, but I was so much sleepier then, I'm woker than that now
Full and proudly prejudiced I leap forth, "rip down the plaques, " I screamed
Anything old and white is bad, the voices in my skull they shrieked
Romantic inconsistencies, between my statements yesterday and now
Ah, but free speech is for me and not for thee, you need to learn that somehow.
The self-ordained elites cast verdicts on those they deign to rule
Deplorable bigots, and middle class idiots, no sympathy for such fools
"Empathy" I spoke the word, its meaning lost for good, and how
Ah, well it may have been a college way back when,
But it's a safe space re-education camp now
Isn't empathy supposed to be the ability to share another person's emotions? If the empathy tent was really supposed to accomplish the goal of its namesake while at a protest shouldn't it cause people to be angry or at least upset? This looks like another example of people choosing words because of the emotions they feel about a word rather than the word's actual meaning.
Here's how it works: If you wear a red MAGA hat or flag or any conspicuous Trump apparel in Berkeley at a rally, a group of Antifa jerk-offs will surround you, start peppering you, start calling you a neo-Nazi, and might physically escort you away.
Yes, they are that nutty.
Headline just writes itself!
Ah, I should have known that one of the perpetrators would be Yvonne Felarca, an employee of the Berkeley School District. She should loose her felarcing job for this crap, but it's Berkeley, so she won't.
"At Berkeley, fights break out in the "empathy tent.""
The left poisons everything it touches. Even empathy.
Felarca is a disgrace to the Fil-American community.
Seems as though the "empathy tent" was about as long-lived as a trouser tent, yet significantly less pleasurable.
As long as nobody defecated on a cop car, it's okay.
One of my favorite movies, Peter Sellers in three roles, George C Scott, Slim Pickens riding a nuke to his death, Nazis, Communists, global destruction, and purity of essence.
"...place to offer protesters a calm place to unwind amid the choas around them," the NY Post reports."
To unwind amid the chaos... That they create, the NY Post does not report.
An empathy tent? it sounds more like Thunderdome. Two men enter one man leave, two men enter one man leave.
Is it wrong of me to laugh my ass off at the sheer hilarity of these people? Where the hell is my tent......
They should have linked arms and taken a knee.
Lucky it wasnt the in the "I'm pissed of and angry tent". Things could have got really bad.
Not that I'm a fan of Trump, but he clearly has pulled the band-aid off and exposed the festering wound in this country. The extremes on both sides have started to ooze out (which, to carry forth the metaphor, is one way the body tries to eliminate infection).
Fortunately, it appears that many of these people are the same bad actors from previous 'peaceful' demonstrations - so the infection isn't as bad as all the reports would have you believe.

And a young James Earl Jones.......
