Bush was hurt politically by the Dems over his Hurricane Katrina; remember Anderson Cooper freaking out on CNN? So Trump is trying preempt that contingency.

Interesting that the Donald never mentioned the victims and numbers of people affected by the flood only the length and size etc.

Some TV network has been running the movie Evan Almighty this week.

Reminds me of the trip my husband and I took to a Central American country that had recently been taken off the State Dept "no go" list, and the airline played Proof of Life for the inflight movie.

One would never accuse President Trump of outrageous eloquence. He has an uncanny ability to state the obvious.

On the flip side, I see that RV has quickly picked up on the oppo talking points.

Like Houston and its inadequate flood preparation President Trump is "Dammed if you do; dammed if you don't"

Was that an LBJ quotation?

He early became fabled for a Rabelaisian earthiness, urinating in the parking lot of the House Office Building as the urge took him; if a colleague came into a Capitol bathroom as he was finishing at the urinal there, he would sometimes swing around still holding his member, which he liked to call "Jumbo," hooting once, "Have you ever seen anything as big as this?," and shaking it in almost a brandishing manner as he began discoursing about some pending legislation.

Trump is like Garrison Keillor's Wogbegon .... the kids there were all above average, for Trump everything is the biggest ever and unprecedented.

Americas most hyperbolic President.

Well is odd if he isn't mentioning the human toll. Is he really not mentioning it? I haven't followed closely enough to know if that's true or made up.

But also, I don't much care what he says or doesn't as long as the agencies are doing their job properly. And if they aren't that's not a problem solved by O44-esque vaunted oratory.

A careless reading of that made me it was about Bill Clinton.
Eventually the Left will realize that obsessing about every bit of Trumpian rhetorical excess makes them look clueless and a bit insane. Eventually.

This is just drought relief, Texas style. President Trump deals with reality. The crisis grief counselors will be sent in later when there is dry land for them to stand on.

He has mentioned the terrible human tragedy...just not in this short clip. What do you people want? A hair shirt and ritual rending of garments while wailing hysterically? Get Shephard Smith from Fox for that drama.

As to the numbers of people affected, property loss and other statistics....we don't know those thing since the event is STILL happening and it will take some time to asses the entire situation.

Have some patience Grasshopper.

It's pretty clear that Trump is doing everything he can to avoid being Katrina-ed. But for the anti-Trump crowd, there simply is no winning. No matter what he does, no matter what decision he makes, he will be roundly criticized and will never, ever be praised. The best Trump can hope for is to ensure that their criticisms seem petty and mean spirited.

That says more abut Tony Posnanski that it does Ivanka Trump.

It seems clear to me that when he says "nobody" he means none of the people who have been flooded out. It's nice that the Left is jumping on him for this, it could have been something for the Democrats running Houston to grab on to and say, "See, no one expected anything like this! It's not our fault!"

The snark or imagining everyone else prioritizes dessert over necessities?

Americas most hyperbolic President.

Bush visits storm victims to bring optimism. Press derides as out of touch.

Trump visits storm victims to bring realism. Press derides as hyperbolic.

Obama still telling everyone he meets about how the economy he inherited was one of the worst ever. Press fawns.

That anything Ivanka has done in her life would lend any credence to his fantasies about who she is.

It's as bigoted a remark about her as a rich person, as it would have been had someone suggested Obama might show up to hand out watermelon as a black person.

Kevin said...

That Sunsong could not see the bigotry in the statement she gleefully reposted is exactly why this country is as broken as we find it.

Bigotry is bigotry. You don't turn yourself into a good person by refraining from one type while laughing as you type post after post about another.

She really doesn't. I keep waiting for her to say something original and clever or at the very least, something that gives some indication that she actually ponders subjects.

She can do nothing but repost the stupid thoughts of other horse's patoots like Twitter is the Oracle of Delphi or something.

I think the response so far to this disaster has been superb from FEMA on down to local citizens acting individually. If the response to Katrina was Bush's fault, to whom should we give the credit for Harvey?

Interesting if he DID mention the victims and numbers of people, you would bitch that he didn't mention the length and size, etc.

Do you realize just how pathetic you look when you nitpick the stupid shit?

We need a better class of lefties. It is amazing to see the emptiness of the left. Diane Feinstein, who may have some residue of good sense, shocked a San Francisco crowd by predicting Trump might be a good president.

She is old school enough to see the folly the Democrats are into as they drift off to the left.

mockturtle said...

I agree about Feinstein. While I often disagree with her positions, I don't fault her integrity.

I've met Feinstein.
She's actually pretty smart for a politician.
