It looks like a lot of the same medicines, spaced out in a way to make it look like there's more variety. If you have eight to ten different types, you try to fit your customer's symptoms into one of the 8 to 10 categories that most closely matches.
The interview says that this is dangerous and that there is no real healthcare infrastructure. Given the latter point, having these guys around seems less dangerous than not having them around. Imagine not being able to get medicine at all!
This would be handy here for the times when you know what you have and what you need. So much of medicine now is DIY anyway. You have to know what the problem is before you walk in half the time to get an accurate diagnosis and treatment.
