Downtown Arkansas.
That's my selection from Google Street View, just around the corner from the Power Ultra Lounge in Little Rock, where 25 people were shot last night in what was said to be "a continuation of disputes from some of our local groups." The NYT tweeted: "Dozens of people were wounded by gunfire at a nightclub early Saturday morning in downtown Arkansas."
"Downtown Arkansas" is a new meme.

The Gray Lady's showing her age. Hipsters know the place as "SoMo".
"Downtown Arkansas" has caused much merriment around here.
I remember a kid at Space Camp saying, "Arkansas? Where's that? Is that another country?"
"... local groups ..." This makes it sound like the Kiwanis got into a pitched gun battle with the VFW auxiliary.
Are euphemisms usually chosen to obscure or to enlighten?
I guess they mean gang warfare but they can't bring themselves to admit it.
Dozens of people were wounded by gunfire
Ugh to the passive voice. People shot other people.
Gang War: Bangin' in Little Rock
Yes, they mean gangs.
Only people who live in downtown Wisconsin would pick this up.
Little Rock has all the charm of a dimly lit alley.
Only city where I have been chased out of a mall by a gang member and only city where I have accidentally pulled up on a drug deal while lost. Also the location of the most amusing store marquee I have ever seen: "Stop the Violence." Translation: "Please don't rob us!"
Downtown Arkansas has a Catholic cathedral. And some snow in the park, it would appear.
The NYT should note this location well. The way they're losing money and laying off staff, this might be their next office location.
Also a place where if you end up in the wrong part, you might get pulled over by the police and have this conversation:
"What are you doing here?"
"Trying to find the highway."
"Are you buying drugs?"
"What?! No."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"You need to get out of here. You should not be here."
"Okay. Where is the highway?"
"[Directions.] Go. Don't stop anywhere and don't come back."
"Okay. No problem."
"... local groups ..." This makes it sound like the Kiwanis got into a pitched gun battle with the VFW auxiliary.
When you're a Vet you're a Vet all the way...
Downtown Arkansas-
Isn't that were you hit a bit of turbulence on your way to LAX from JFK?
@Paul Zrimsek:
You are consistently GOLD.
I am Laslo.
Not to put too fine a point on it, and I understand the "25 people shot last night" came from the linked article not originating with A.A. - but -
I have heard "25 people injured" with some number, perhaps 17, shot and the remainder injured in the scuffle to flee. Also, "last night" would be night before last, ca. 0230 hrs Saturday.
This event was not prominent in the news cycle at the time - perhaps given the ethnicity of the folks involved, the non-involvement of Pres. Trump, or other factors.
In related news Milwaukee's police chief Flynn is blaming Wi lawmakers for passing concealed carry laws which he claims is the reason for the large amount of gun violence in Milwaukee..

I really appreciate Freeman's comments as she's local to Arkansas.

didn't he snitch on judeo-christ
sunsong never passes up an opportunity to post irrelevantly. But that's what makes him/her feel relevant. (S)he is now free to compensate with with a love and unicorn comment. But by my count, you're a bit short on the hippy love comments. Get cracking.

Yeah. People are 'victims of gun violence', doncha know? Guns just get violent and go berserk.
I once drove from Dallas to Lincoln to see a girl. 12 hour trip but she was worth it.
I remember being on an interstate that suddenly become a two lane road that dead-ended in a parking lot. Weirdest thing, I was tired but I couldn't recall exiting the freeway or taking a fork. Maybe it was downtown Arkansas.
I'm in a hotel a half-mile from that spot. It's only about a quarter mile from the main touristy restaurant and bar area on the river where I just had dinner. I will run by there in the morning and check it out. It's generally not a bad area. I drive down 6th street all the time when I am here and run on it in the morning.
Downtown Arkansas is apparently a more dangerous place than Covfefe.
sunsong quoted Bill Maher: "“Once again Donald Trump has taught this country a valuable lesson: You can never be too rich to be white trash.”
This guy spews so much hate-filled garbage, I thought he was CEO of Waste Management.
sunsong, do you ever actually watch this human being? (Serious question)
NYT: "downtown Arkansas"
Sheesh. Pathetic.
Far as I can tell, that could be any one of thousands of views from downtown Wisconsin.
"I really appreciate Freeman's comments as she's local to Arkansas."
And only three hours from downtown!
Little Rock has many nice people. I don't know why they live there. Why, Little Rock friends, why? ;)
(The wink is for any Little Rock friends who read that at any point in the future.)
The former Salvation Army store a block from my house is now a gambling den that fills that part of downtown with cars every night. Police HQ is a block in another direction but nearly empty at night. We'll find out if we have violent gangs here soon enough.
How many downtowns aren't a bit (or a lot) seedy?
Downtown Arkansas has an especially high crime rate.
So if I was considering a position with the City of Little Rock I should reconsider?
It's a blunder, and a stupid blunder, but neither the writer nor the copy editor are going to be disciplined, much less fired, so forget about it you h8r!
I question whether more than a tiny handful of Times staffers could find states like Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kentucky, or Wyoming on a map. Or even find South Dakota after you showed them where North Dakota is.

just like any other progg hell hole chuckie putz
So everything is up to date in downtown Arkansas . You goy your Bloods and you got your Crips. But they don't shoot as well as their Los Angeles cousins.
In 2011, I spent the first week of August visiting an old classmate who lives in the suburbs of Little Rock. It was absolutely the most miserable weather I have ever lived through- it was over 110 degrees on one of the days which I think set the all time record for the city if I remember correctly. And it wasn't a dry heat either.

The one leftist here that actually condemns the other violent leftists.
What is wrong with them?

I agree! Dozens of people were said to have been shot in downtown Arkansas.
Ugh to the passive voice. The Ivy League idiots at the NYT don't know Arkansas is a state.
How about a downtown Arkansaw? (For Arkansaw, Wisconsin.)

To honor some Coastie with a "downtown Arkansas" tag is not good. But I assume you are mocking them with the tag.
I'll always have a fondness for Arkansas. When traveling across the country from LA to VA (and breaking down in the Painted Desert NP), Arkansas was where the flora began to resemble what was recognizable to a Pennsylvanian. No more Sage!
From the Wikipedia entry on Little Rock:
Crime
In the late 1980s, Little Rock experienced a 51% increase in murder arrests of kids under 17, and a 40% increase in among 18- to 24-year-olds. From 1988 to 1992, murder arrests of youths under 18 increased by 256%.[17] By the end of 1992, Little Rock reached a record of 61 homicides,[18] but in 1993 surpassed it with 76.[19] It was one of the highest per-capita homicide rates in the country, placing Little Rock fifth in Money Magazine's 1994 list of most dangerous cities.[17]
I'me having trouble remembering who was in charge of the state, you know, governor, up to the beginning of 93.
William something, no?
And Crooked Hillary was First Lady of the state. (And head grifter)
John Henry
