Awan and his family cabal of fraudsters had access for years to the e-mails and other electronic files of members of the House’s Intelligence and Foreign Affairs Committees. It turns out they were accessing members’ computers without their knowledge, transferring files to remote servers, and stealing computer equipment — including hard drives that Awan & Co. smashed to bits of bytes before making tracks.ADDED: Here's how the NYT is covering it: "Trump Fuels Intrigue Surrounding a Former I.T. Worker’s Arrest." Trump! This is a story about Trump?!
They were fired in February. All except Awan, that is. He continued in the employ of Wasserman Schultz, the Florida Democrat, former DNC chairwoman, and Clinton crony. She kept him in place at the United States Congress right up until he was nabbed at the airport on Monday....
Congressional-staff salaries are modest, in the $40,000 range. For some reason, Awan was paid about four times as much. He also managed to get his wife, Alvi, on the House payroll . . . then his brother, Abid Awan . . . then Abid’s wife, Natalia Sova. The youngest of the clan, Awan’s brother Jamal, came on board in 2014 — the then-20-year-old commanding an annual salary of $160,000....
Why were they paid so much for doing so little? Intriguing as it is, that’s a side issue....
To hear some commentators tell it, with the help of his family and a cushy job on Capitol Hill, Mr. Awan, a Pakistani-American, had managed to steal computer hardware, congressional data and even — just maybe — a trove of internal Democratic National Committee emails that eventually surfaced last summer on WikiLeaks. It helped that the story seems to involve, if only tangentially, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the Florida congresswoman who is the former chairwoman of the committee and an ally of Hillary Clinton’s.AND: I left out my favorite line from the NYT article:
The Daily Caller, with almost two dozen articles on the family, has led the pack in reporting the story, packaging new details that have dribbled out of the investigation into a growing web of material, even as few in the mainstream news media paid attention.
That is until Monday, when Mr. Awan was arrested by the F.B.I. and United States Capitol Police on seemingly unrelated charges as he tried to board a flight to Pakistan. In the days since, the story has raced down an increasingly familiar track at warp speed, from the fringes of the internet to Fox News and other established publications....
Xochitl Hinojosa, a spokeswoman for the Democratic committee, called the suggestion “laughable.”Does Hinojosa have any idea that she's heightening our suspicion of the opinion of the U.S. intelligence community?
“He was never employed by the D.N.C.,” she said. “The U.S. intelligence community has concluded that Russia was behind the D.N.C. hack.”
Don't think about that! It would be ridiculous to question the Russian story they got everyone to sign onto.
ALSO: For months, we've been encouraged to imagine a big conspiracy involving Trump and the Russians. Why wouldn't that make ordinary people sensitive to suggestions of other conspiracies? It requires strong partisanship to keep conspiracy thinking going only in one direction, but plenty of us are distanced from both parties. We may have free-flowing suspicion. If there are conspiracies, are there not layers and layers before you get to the truth? That's what's so funny about the Hinojosa quote. Pointing at a closed door and saying that door has been closed works as an enticement to open that very door.

Methinks DWS is going to wind up in jail.....
"Why were they paid so much for doing so little? Intriguing as it is, that’s a side issue...." And the Awan family was also selling used cars and engaging in mortgage and bankruptcy fraud on the side.
Theory: The Awan family not only were spying on us for foreign enemies, they were kicking back money (probably bitcoin) to DWS and her fellow Dems. Restated, DWS was getting paid to sell US secrets to Pakistan and the Awan family was the conduit. DWS = Traitor!
"I've been avoiding blogging this story because I've been waiting for something with the right kind of clarity and detail,..."
The mainstream press has been avoiding it too, for entirely different reasons.
Is it true that DWS' brother has been put in charge of the investigation?
Abid Awan, Natalia Sova, ...
None of the people on the
Home > Fraud > OIG Most Wanted Fugitives > Fugitive Profiles
have normal names.
Restated, DWS was getting paid to sell US secrets to Pakistan and the Awan family was the conduit. DWS = Traitor!
The money was going the other way. DWS was being blackmailed with information they pulled off of Congressional computers.
ABC, NBC, CBS, Glamour, CNN, People Magazine, Rolling Stone, NYT, WaPo ... right on it!
The democrat party has a corruption problem.
Up next in line - more Clinton with Terry McAuliffe.
"Is it true that DWS' brother has been put in charge of the investigation?"
Yes, what blackmail could cause this irrational behavior by Democrats ?
Especially by DWS.
Does Seth Rich have anything to do with it ?
We are all certain that if Debbie Wasserman were a Republican, the media would be all over this big story.
This is some of the "fundamental transformation" they keep promising us.
The hack press have shamed and assured us that the Death of Seth Rich in merely coincidental. Nothing to see here.
Why is Awan suddenly being legally represented at the highest level by Clinton ultra-loyalist Chris Gowan, and who is paying him?
Blogger John said..."Is it true that DWS' brother has been put in charge of the investigation?"
Could you elaborate on that?
NICE TRY, ALTHOUSE!

Awan is going to commit suicide soon. Or get robbed and have nothing stolen.
TREASON!
Swede @9:25 AM:
I was making a bet with myself that the usual suspects would avoid this thread. (Or threads like it, at least until the talking points had been distributed. Haven't seen 'em in the wild, yet, but I haven't been looking very hard.)
Assuming I lost that bet, I then began musing about what they'd have to say. I'm going to be charitable and predict they'll come up with something a little slicker than your prediction.
The Democrats' have a "Debbie Downer" problem.
She is my Congressman. The Republicans can barely find a sacrificial lamb to run. This is hardly her own doing. It's a safe bet the Clintons are tied in to this. If there was a real special prosecutor working this case DWS would be singing by now as part of her plea deal.
Will Awan get a chance to tell investigators the Russians didn't hack the DNC servers before Clinton's lawyer finds him after the terrible car accident?
Two days ago a Trump tweet forced the NYTimes to acknowledge this story. To justify their lack of coverage they stated:
"But for all the publicity, few if any of the fundamental facts of the case have come into focus."
They have no shame. If they uniformly applied that standard we would not have been subjected to one Russia tale.
As an IT professional, I have been following these news reports with a professional interest.
It is a computer security fundamental that insiders are the biggest threat when it comes to compromising data confidentiality. And that means thoroughly vetting the people you place in positions of trust. Admin access on computers used by people on the House Intelligence Committee, I suppose it would have been Islamophobic to actually probe his background or monitor him after his being hired for financial irregularities. If he wasn't a citizen he shouldn't have been placed in that position in the first place.
Of course, that's water under the bridge once he has the goods on you and starts blackmailing you to reveal state secrets and hiring his relatives for no-show jobs at inflated salaries. I wonder what he had on DWS? I saw a picture of him here:
https://pjmedia.com/trending/2017/07/25/wasserman-schultz-it-staffer-arrested-at-dulles-airport-trying-to-flee-country/
Seems to be a pretty good looking guy.
"Clinton ultra-loyalist Chris Gowan"
Who had this to say:
Statement on the Imran Awan Case
Washington, DC: The attacks on Mr. Awan and his family began as part of a frenzy of
anti-Muslim bigotry in the literal heart of our democracy, the House of Representatives. For months we have had utterly unsupported, outlandish, and slanderous statements targeting Mr. Awan coming not just from the ultra-right-wing “pizzagate” media but from sitting members of congress. Now we have the Justice Department showing up with a complaint about disclosures on a modest real estate matter. To an extent, the situation speaks for itself.
Mr. Awan’s family is presently staying with extended family in Pakistan because he and his wife were both abruptly and unjustly fired, leaving them without a reliable source of income to pay typical U.S. living expenses, and because extremist right-wing bloggers were beginning to harass them and their children—even going to their children’s schools. Mr. Awan has stayed in the U.S. to earn some income to manage this situation as best as possible. He attempted to travel this week to see his family for the first time in months. The government had been informed he would travel and had stated no objection. Yet on Monday night he was hastily arrested at Dulles airport.
Because we are confident in the integrity of the U.S. justice system, we are confident
that Mr. Awan will soon be able to clear his name and get on with his life. Neither Mr. Awan nor his wife have ever had any intention to “flee” the United States. They are U.S. citizens who have built a full life and have a strong community life in this country. They will stand and fight whatever charges are presented. Once they have prevailed, we will have a chance to more closely examine the ugly political and media dynamics that have driven this controversy from the beginning.
Get yer talking points here!
"I then began musing about what they'd have to say."
I've heard a thing or two about the strategy session arranged by Fusion GPS and the Center for American Progress this morning, with input from an "anonymous caller." Here are the talking points they were batting around:
1. Islamophobia. We hired Muslims to set an example for the whole Islamic world. It is deplorable to tarnish the reputation of upstanding Muslim IT experts who were just providing for their families.
2. Blowback. In this country we are innocent until proven guilty. Unjustified witch hunts will only encourage our enemies by aiding their recruitment.
3. Pakistan is our friend. George W. Bush said so. Comparing this with the Trump Russian collusion is outrageous.
4. Sexism. The implication that a female Congressperson didn't know anything about IT and was at the mercy of foreign conmen is outrageous.
5. This is just a crazy division from the real problems: Russia! Trump implosion! GOP failure!
Samantha Power may have also been the unmasker during the waning days of the Obama administration. She apparently was working in cahoots with partisan FBI/NSA officials. Big problem.
Just think of all those poor democrats who just know they are going to find the smoking gun on Trump today waking up to read the news with high hopes and they find the Russian collusion story completely gone and they start getting hints of what is really going on.
It will always be trump's fault because democrat voters are stupid but it will be interesting to see if some Bernie supporters get tired of being lied to and tricked by the DNC.
Maybe we need to thank DWS more than we know. Obviously she permitted these people access to all her work both in Congress and for the DNC. Do you think the Awan's would have hesitated to strip out damaging information on Hillary and peddle it? But, they are Pakistanis, Pakistanis, Pakistanis not Russians, Russians, Russians; it couldn't be possible.
There are staffers and then there are staffers. Some long-term staffers make well into 6 figures. Usually because they have specialized knowledge and expertise that are of value to Congress critters.
Division, diversion . . .
Paco & Sebastian:
Thanks.
If it were my arse on the line...well, I wouldn't be feeling too confident right now. Who needs enemies when the best friends money can buy can't come up with anything better than those lame-o first attempts at defense?
I'm going to go out on a limb (actually, a pretty thick branch, IMO) and predict that none of this passes Chuck Todd's lips this morning.
the "pack," "the story seems to involve, if only tangentially," from "the fringes": ICWYDT, NYT.
Some terrible accidents are waiting for the opportunity.
I didn't watch "House of Cards" and know it only by reputation but it seems to have been nonfiction.
Could Washington be any more corrupt ?
I watched part of Fox News Sunday this morning and those people seem to be proper descendants of Versailles courtiers.
At least Jane Harmon mentioned the Norks.
"There are staffers and then there are staffers. Some long-term staffers make well into 6 figures. Usually because they have specialized knowledge and expertise that are of value to Congress critters."
That's not what's going on here: "The youngest of the clan, Awan’s brother Jamal, came on board in 2014 — the then-20-year-old commanding an annual salary of $160,000."
'The U.S. intelligence community has concluded that Russia was behind the D.N.C. hack.'
A Democrat company who is at the center of all this "concluded" that Russia was behind the DNC hack and a chosen few intelligence leaders went along with what that company told them. The DNC still refuses to allow government investigators to look at their computers.
Were there NO Americans available to perform the high-priced part-time jobs the Awan family did for certain Dem Congressmen?
Occam's Razor. The Awan family was a plant by a foreign government with the knowledge and consent of DWS. DWS was paid by Pakistan. Check her bitcoin account.
Paco
When the Dem criminal defense law plays the race/religion card you know he has nothing.
Ron, the IT professional, nails it. DWS was either getting blackmailed or she was a party to the spying. DWS = Traitor.
Dead Man Walking
The NYT said..."It helped that the story seems to involve, if only tangentially, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the Florida congresswoman who is the former chairwoman of the committee and an ally of Hillary Clinton’s."
Tangentially??? Who do they think they're kidding?
A manager at a tech-services company that works with Democratic House offices said he approached congressional offices, offering their services at one-fourth the price of Awan and his Pakistani brothers, but the members declined. At the time, he couldn’t understand why his offers were rejected but now he suspects the Awans exerted some type of leverage over members.
“There’s no question about it: If I was accused of a tenth of what these guys are accused of, they’d take me out in handcuffs that same day, and I’d never work again,” he said.
Curioser and curioser.
"Pointing at a closed door and saying that door has been closed works as an enticement to open that very door."
A remarkable amount of modern American leftism consists of insisting that issue X is CLOSED, and must NEVER BE QUESTIONED AGAIN.
Restated, DWS was getting paid to sell US secrets to Pakistan and the Awan family was the conduit. DWS = Traitor!
7/30/17, 9:17 AM
Why is Awan suddenly being legally represented at the highest level by Clinton ultra-loyalist Chris Gowan, and who is paying him?
7/30/17, 9:24 AM
Probably for some boring reason, but imagine how nice it would be for Hillary if it looked like DWS was colluding with the Pakistanis to sell out everyone. It wasn't just Bernie who got cheated, but Hillary too, and while DWS was pretending to be on her side! It's not her fault she lost, it's that traitor DWS's fault! Hillary could dump all the garbage from the past election on DWS and start clean and fresh (as much as possible for someone with her history).
Come on lefties, explain it to us.
Which raises the question -- is Debbie Whatshername Schlitz too ugly to fail?
Probably because Trump likes running his mouth with speculation more than anyone else in his position. He's buddy-buddy with The Enquirer's owner FFS and even got them to push the "Ted Cruz's Dad Killed Kennedy" meme. The innocence and professionalism you presume to defend of this guy is really quite remarkable.
Sure, there's more detail now - it sounds like. But still nothing concrete. If the Trumpsters think Mueller's got to shut down his investigation on Russian mob money launderer Trump, then that's a bar still higher than this story's managed to approach, yet.
If anything turns up that Schultz's hands are on and forces her to step down or worse, I'll be the last person worry. Anything that gets her out of there will eventually be a good thing; the sooner the better.
Ritmo gets partial credit for making an effort on this thread -- although his heart really wasn't in that comment, was it? Almost perfunctory.
Very strange situation that smells, but I am not sure of what.
Pakistans Intelligence Agency is supposedly one of the best in the world, and was involved.
Iran through Hirzbolla through Iraqi politician was also involved through a loan.
Salaries at $160k for a 20 year old, 4x usual salary congressional it - huh?
Clinton loyalist lawyer defending? Makes sense as Clintons take care of their own, and owe a debt of loyalty to DWB, or are afraid of her spilling the beans on how she tilted the playing field for the primaries against Bernie. And there is an ongoing lawsuit by Bernie Supporters against the DNC.
Pakistan has been a major Washington player for years. I don't think they saw much difference between Hillary vs Trump for them.
My guess is info was given to Iran and Pakistan's intel agencies. Not sure what was so major about this.
A SWAG... and other nations then got that info from them. Probably Israel and Russia. Perhaps others such as China and France. Probably NSA.
Seth Richards also copied info from the DNC.
And somehow this showed up on Wikileaks.
This is far more heinous and infinitely more interesting than Watergate. I would expect the WaPo to be running a series of investigative reports on this. [The NYT is a joke--a parody]. Alas, we have only the 'news' that our version of Pravda sees fit to print.
The differences between the Washington system vs the court at Versailles, at least when Versailles was new, are important.
The first is that there was a single executive, personally holding the reins, at least, of most power that mattered. If you had Louis XIV's ear, you were there. Way less confusing than even when Obama was President.
The executive, and by extension the entire court, was unambiguously dedicated to the power and primacy of the realm. L'etat c'est moi really did mean something, and was not entirely an expression of pride. Even the Sun King sincerely thought he was serving something greater.
A really good way to rise in royal favor was to become distinguished in service. A lot of maneuvering had to do with getting appointments to posts where honor could be won, very likely involving hardships and at risk of life. A great number of aristocrats did not survive their success in winning a command.
Also, and not least, they all, individually and collectively, were far better educated and had infinitely better taste.
I have been following this story closely since February, both from an IT/Security standpoint and from a banking standpoint (MLS/money laundering).
The linked article barely touched on matters. From a banking standpoint, this looks like an international money laundering scheme with significant local sideways transfers. The question is who benefits, and who got paid off to make this happen.
Perhaps these people were involved in a CIA operational financing scheme. It also may have been a political money laundering operation.
But they seemed to have cover at a high level, because even though international money transfers from the Congressional coffers/federal credit union probably receive less scrutiny than they should, and even though a company engaged in overseas car sales may be a good way to move money sub rosa, this went on for too long and there were far too many red flags for a lot of people not to know what was going on.
It is an awesome story, and clearly there are political entanglements. I would recommend that anyone interested start here (tons of links at the bottom):
http://dailycaller.com/2017/02/20/exclusive-house-dem-it-guys-in-security-probe-secretly-took-100k-in-iraqi-money/
The first thing that may have begun to puncture this op was the life insurance fraud, which turned into a court case because the insurance company wanted a judge to determine who the legitimate beneficiary would be:
http://dailycaller.com/2017/03/08/house-staffers-in-security-probe-allegedly-kept-stepmom-in-captivity-to-access-offshore-cash/
There were extremely suspicious RE transactions - multiple:
http://dailycaller.com/2017/07/05/house-dem-it-suspects-wanted-untraceable-payments-and-sure-enough-millions-disappeared/?utm_campaign=atdailycaller&utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=Social
All of this is about money - a lot of it. And a lot of money was flowing through this network, but why Congress should have been involved in what seems to be a straightforward fraud ring is a raging question. That occurred after Obama's election.
I would love to see both Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and Donnie J. Trump, Junior standing on a scaffold awaiting a meticulously calculated drop based on the equation of the Reverend Samuel Haughton.
Fabi: Ritmo gets partial credit for making an effort on this thread --
Hey, I was just getting ready to say the same thing. Not that "the Awan story is exactly like the 'Ted Cruz's Dad Killed Kennedy' meme" isn't stupider than the lame crap the pros are putting out, but I gotta admit, I never would have predicted that particular move. Credit for originality in deflectionary flailing, Ritz.
@Angel: "Thanks." You are welcome. Just to be clear to readers less familiar with this blog: my talking points were made up (before Paco's post!) . . .
MaxedOutMama
What about bitcoin? Don't criminals, drug dealers and spies use bitcoin to transfer money secretly and to avoid money laundering laws?
Howard's bullshit "a pox on both their houses" pose, on the other hand, is both predictable and deeply lame.
Ritmo gets partial credit for making an effort on this thread -- although his heart really wasn't in that comment, was it?
My mind was. Think first, choose sides later. Or not even at all. Sorry if it blocked the pure view from your partisanship goggles.
Are partisanship goggles like beer goggles? I mean, the accuser of Rafael Cruz as JFK's killer does talk like a drunk, after all.
Never realized I had to love and defend DWS to care about holding President Tabloid accountable.
I will repost some comments I made in the "At the Purple Cafe" thread here on April 27.

If you have been reading about Debby Wasserman Schultz's Pakistani IT crew, then read this article.
https://consortiumnews.com/2017/07/24/intel-vets-challenge-russia-hack-evidence/
Key passages:
Independent analyst Skip Folden, a retired IBM Program Manager for Information Technology US, who examined the recent forensic findings, is a co-author of this Memorandum. He has drafted a more detailed technical report titled “Cyber-Forensic Investigation of ‘Russian Hack’ and Missing Intelligence Community Disclaimers,” and sent it to the offices of the Special Counsel and the Attorney General. VIPS member William Binney, a former Technical Director at the National Security Agency, and other senior NSA “alumni” in VIPS attest to the professionalism of the independent forensic findings.

From the information available, we conclude that the same inside-DNC, copy/leak process was used at two different times, by two different entities, for two distinctly different purposes:
(1) an inside leak to WikiLeaks before Julian Assange announced on June 12, 2016, that he had DNC documents and planned to publish them (which he did on July 22) – the presumed objective being to expose strong DNC bias toward the Clinton candidacy; and
(2) a separate leak on July 5, 2016, to pre-emptively taint anything WikiLeaks might later publish by “showing” it came from a “Russian hack.”

Nothing partisan at all about either of your comments on this thread, Ritmo -- other than your tu quoque introduction of Trump into these comments.
More from the Consortium News article (emphases in the original):
=====
The Time Sequence
June 12, 2016: Assange announces WikiLeaks is about to publish “emails related to Hillary Clinton.”
June 15, 2016: DNC contractor Crowdstrike, (with a dubious professional record and multiple conflicts of interest) announces that malware has been found on the DNC server and claims there is evidence it was injected by Russians.
June 15, 2016: On the same day, “Guccifer 2.0” affirms the DNC statement; claims responsibility for the “hack;” claims to be a WikiLeaks source; and posts a document that the forensics show was synthetically tainted with “Russian fingerprints.”
We do not think that the June 12 & 15 timing was pure coincidence. Rather, it suggests the start of a pre-emptive move to associate Russia with anything WikiLeaks might have been about to publish and to “show” that it came from a Russian hack.
The Key Event
July 5, 2016: In the early evening, Eastern Daylight Time, someone working in the EDT time zone with a computer directly connected to the DNC server or DNC Local Area Network, copied 1,976 MegaBytes of data in 87 seconds onto an external storage device. That speed is many times faster than what is physically possible with a hack.
It thus appears that the purported “hack” of the DNC by Guccifer 2.0 (the self-proclaimed WikiLeaks source) was not a hack by Russia or anyone else, but was rather a copy of DNC data onto an external storage device. Moreover, the forensics performed on the metadata reveal there was a subsequent synthetic insertion – a cut-and-paste job using a Russian template, with the clear aim of attributing the data to a “Russian hack.” This was all performed in the East Coast time zone.

MaxedOutMama's post @10:50 AM:
Thanks. Interesting.
I'm expecting to read about more murders disguised as suicides.
Next up: The poor guy was forced to blackmail DWS. Sources in the intelligence community say that Trump Jr refused to extend him the courtesy of a meeting to hear what he had, because he was a Muslim. And this is just one more reason the travel ban must be overturned.
Blogger Original Mike said..."I'm going to go out on a limb (actually, a pretty thick branch, IMO) and predict that none of this passes Chuck Todd's lips this morning."
Well, it wasn't a risky prediction, but it did turn out to be correct. We were treated to the breaking news that Trump's polling numbers are low so I guess there just wasn't time.
The press expresses puzzlement as to why they are held in such low regard by much of the country. I, for one, think they are disingenuous. They can't seriously not understand the root of our disdain.
I know reading is hard, Angel - but what you said is not what I said. I just responded to Ann's incredulity that a story Trump no doubt "trumped up" (ran with) would dare to reference Trump.
I guess the Trumpsters deny that The Enquirer is fake news. How do you put all your faith in whatever's said by a guy who called Ted Cruz's dad the assassin of JFK, is all I want to know? I mean, as long as your partisanship is a zero-sum game.
Did you believe him when he said it or not?
Do you think he was blatantly lying?
It's just a question of credibility, that's all. Sorry if it offended you. But I can see why it did.
The attacks on Mr. Awan and his family began as part of a frenzy of anti-Muslim bigotry in the literal heart of our democracy, the House of Representatives.
Leading with the race card? I'm guessing that's the only card in their hand.
As to the quality of the courtiers in Washington vs those at Versailles - at least those in the public eye -
Frankly, they are terrible. Dull, obviously foolish, without sparkle.
The old French system was much more effective at raising people of wit and personality to power. It was also gender-neutral in effect if not in form; the women were quite as powerful as the men, if informally, this was well understood by the players.
DWS and HRC and KHarris and the like simply do not compare with the array of Royal Mistresses of France that were their analogues in power.
"I've been avoiding blogging this story because I've been waiting for something with the right kind of clarity and detail" From the girl that spouts from the NYTs ad nauseum. Foolish statement.
Crypto-currencies are a wonderful tool for avoiding the annual gifting limits and taxes. It can be similarly used to foster tax-free estate planning, although their present volatility renders them more precarious than other shelters.
Blogger mockturtle said..."MOM: Thank you. I am making your link into a clicky: Security Probe."
And thank you, mockturtle. Cutting and pasting links on an iPad is so glitchy that I rarely make the effort anymore.
Ignore the trolling. Focus on the IT guys who worked for DWS and Clinton, Inc.
I hope you don't mind if I add "deflectionary flailing" to my lexicon, Angel-Dyne!
Nothing partisan at all about either of your comments on this thread, Ritmo -- other than your tu quoque introduction of Trump into these comments.
Professor Althouse hates it when people don't read the actual post. If you have trouble reading the post, here's the portion I responded to:
Here's how the NYT is covering it: "Trump Fuels Intrigue Surrounding a Former I.T. Worker’s Arrest." Trump! This is a story about Trump?!
Did you catch that? I know it wasn't in PJ Media, The Enquirer, or Breitbart - but it was there, in the post written by the woman whose blog you're reading and using to pal around with your fellow partisans. Maybe you should read it, instead of insulting commenters who did.
Finally, there's a difference between not seeing a reason to give blanket support to lifelong Democrat and lifelong liar Trump, and wearing partisanship goggles. Did you know Trump was a lifelong Democrat? Nothing partisan about that, right? You just uphold anything he does because your politics are so fragile that they can only afford to live in the moment, I guess.
November 22, 1963. Now that was a moment. Just ask Ted Cruz, and the publisher of The Enquirer.
It's good that we have The Enquirer around, especially with all those "fake news" outlets hostile to the president who's best friends with The Enquirer's publisher.
Contest! Who are the bigger badder money launderers? Trump Inc. or the Pakistani IT guys?
Here's a detailed piece by Clarice Feldman:

Blogger Unknown said..."Contest! Who are the bigger badder money launderers? Trump Inc. or the Pakistani IT guys?"
What, specifically, are you referring to?
The "ADDED" part, Ritmo? That wasn't up there when I first read the post, so get over yourself.
Steve Wasserman is Debbie's brother and an assistant US attorney in the District of Columbia.
Some pretty sketchy websites are saying that he is overseeeing the Awan case. I can't find anything that looks reliable about this. I suspect that for him to be directly involved would be too blatant even for the Demmies. Or maybe not.
Still, it must be nice for Debbie to have someone inside the office.
John Henry
Thanks for the heads up, John.
I would love to the truth come out regarding Wasserman!
I understand completely how some people hate Trump, and especially his style, but how could you support the Democrats who have lied to us all so often and so loud for so long that even the battered wife of a rock star would start packing the swag bags? Virtually every major Democrat is involved in some scandal right now, not to mention the endless ones swept under the rug over the last 8 years. Remember all those and how egregious and high level they were? The contrast with what Trump is being accused of couldn't be more stark: Fast and Furious, the IRS trying to fix an election by stifling millions of conservative voices, Bengazi, "I can be be more flexible after the election", The Clinton Foundation, 20% of our Uranium sold to Russians, "If you like your plan, you can keep your plan" "Premium reductions of $2500", and on and on. You could fill pages just listing them, and almost no repercussions for any of the lying, cheating, stealing bastards.
And if you think that's just partisan swamp song, or even feel the knee jerk need to attempt some kind of relativism with Republican scandals, then you are simply battered yourself beyond any clarity or honesty.
Schultz sez: "I hear nothing, I see nothing, I know nothing - NOTHING!"

DWS and HRC and KHarris and the like simply do not compare with the array of Royal Mistresses of France that were their analogues in power.
Imagine a Senator de Montespan or a Secretary de Maintenon. Or, outside the court, a Ninon de L'Enclos writing op-eds, instead of Dowds and Noonans.
A whole lot less dreary, that's for sure. But possibly a modern pseudo-republic is not the right environment for bringing out the peculiar genius of women like that. (Not that they would not have been successes in any era, as they certainly had the requisite brains.)
@buwaya: "the entire court, was unambiguously dedicated to the power" Mostly, but not "unambiguously," since the courtiers also schemed for personal or factional advantage. Still, the contrast with DC is apt.
Do you know Saint-Simon's memoirs? Superb, and very interesting. (But I confess I haven't read all 20 volumes :).) Perhaps someone in DC--a long-time, high-ranked but discontented insider with complete unblinkered insight and full command of the language--is secretly working on something similar. Of course, democratic regime change would complicate the story, but still.
Who could it be? Orrin Hatch? Steny Hoyer? James Comey? Kidding . . .
I enjoy the knew UnknownInga82.
She got so tired of me calling her UnknownInga51 that she got a new gmail account.
Meanwhile, Trump should declassify as many of the current scandal investigations and their respective documentation so we can see the bipartisan corruption that is Leviathan.
The sister was stopped by feds on her way to Pakistan and found to be carrying $12,000 that she had not reported.
Any of us who did this would have had the money confiscated, at the very least, and probably been arrested.
I hope that this was part of a strategy. They found the money, copied serial numbers and plan to track it.
I hope that. I expect to be disappointed.
Thanks for finally getting on this story, Ann. I think it is going to be huge. I suspect that it is only the tip of an iceberg. This may expose why people were so desperate to stop President Trump's election and hamstring his presidency.
I do appreciate your staying away while it still looked like it might be dismissed as conspiracy theory.
I suspect that, like Monica Lewinski, the press has been ignoring this and will continue to do so until something forces them to take notice.

The Consortium News article was published on July 24.
* The article summarized a a report that had been sent to he offices of the Special Counsel and the Attorney General.
* The report had been written by Skip Folden, a retired IBM Program Manager for Information Technology US.
* The report says that on July 5, 2016, false indicators of Russia were inserted into the DNC e-mail data before the data was provided for forensic analysis.
* A memorandum about the report was endorsed by the Steering Group of an organization called the Veteran Intelligence Officers for Sanity. Here are some of those endorsers:

Have you read anything about this?
Have you seen any discussion about this on CNN?
Of course not.

The story that the anti-Trump media must push now is that Debby Wasserman Schutz's Pakistani IT employees destroyed their hard drives and fled the USA because the FBI suspects that they were overpaid.
Trump decided to run for president of the United States. He decided to spend his own money. He decided to win at all costs.
So you admit that he has no boundaries and will do anything to get what he wants. Sort of like this guy.
I take this as Exhibit A to Robert Mueller that criminal lawbreaking is something he's not above. His defenders admit that he has no limits and abet him by admiring that about him. Shooting someone down in Manhattan indeed!
So you can stop taking the investigation personally.
Unlike the civilized, restrained, polite Republican opposition, Trump believed he would beat Clinton, so used all means at his disposal.
Politics is your life, apparently. How fun that must be for you!
So can I use the Rafael Cruz, JFK murderer meme from now on? Apparently you think that lie was ok for him to do.
As for the Enquirer, small fry compared to WP NYT LAT, SFC ABC NBC CBS FOX CNN MSBC, who all were anti Trump from the get go.

This stinks to high heaven. And keep this in mind - DWS only fired the guy AFTER he was arrested on the way out of the country. He was going to be gone for an xtended period of time and she was, apparently going to continue paying him. Same guy, of course, she threatened the Capital Police over the laptop that he had stolen from her office. After they found that laptop, and he and his family were banned from the Congressional network (which essentially meant that they couldn't do any IT work anymore for Congressional offices), DWS continued to pay him 4x the usual IT salary. And apparently would have continued to do so with him back in Pakistan, if he hadn't been arrested. As I said, it stinks.
The "ADDED" part, Ritmo? That wasn't up there when I first read the post, so get over yourself.
I forgot. Infallibility and irresponsibility are required traits in partisans who admire a president's inability to maintain appropriate internal boundaries.
Just in case you still needed it. Why not? You admire a liar so I have no reason to trust you're telling the truth about your reading.

With all the evidence to the contrary and the very weak evidence supporting a Russian connection to Trump, on top of the fact that everyone knows that Trump policies will be much worse for the Russians than Clinton's would have been, why would our intelligence agency people suggest the counter-factual, and why would you buy it? The second thing is the reason for the first being possible. You can say anything bad about Trump and get half the country to buy it without any evidence at all. Or, you can say something supported by facts that defends Trump and get run out on a rail.

"So is the family’s story the stuff of a spy novel, ripe for sleuthing and criminal prosecution, or simply an overblown Washington story, typical of midsummer? Many here are finding it hard to say."
Bless their hearts!
The larger point here is that all this was going on for years before the 2015-2016 election controversies. This has been going on for over a decade.
The important larger fact is that obviously untrustworthy foreign IT contractors hired by numerous Democratic politicians had unrestricted access and control of data presented to or produced by Congressional committees, including state secrets.
This is all of a piece with the gross irresponsibility of, for instance, the Secretary of State in handling official communications.
Add to this the many exploits of US government data such as the huge OPM data breach of 2015, just one of a long litany.
It gives the public a picture of the gross incompetence of the last administration in its conduct of public business, and of the inutility of the Washington system as a whole.

Okay, ethnic stereotyping time here.
I have had the misfortune to be involved with a few too many Pakistanis in IT. Note: Pakistanis are not Indians, & they see the world quite differently, especially your upper class Pakistani.
If you have a situation where it's "All In the Family" like this among a bunch of Pakistanis, it's because they're running a scam. Period. End of story. If a Pakistani guy is owner of a company & he's hired a diverse group of employees with a lot of Americans, well, okay. If the inner circle over here is all family, it's because that's who they trust to keep the scam quiet.
My other prediction, & you can bank on this: one the Awan men was fucking some woman in a position of authority. It's how these guys roll, & it's a technique they use to cement themselves into place & get yet one more person in a blackmail-able situation. Oh, & these guys are good at it, too. They can be quite handsome, & they pull out the "Oh, my beautiful princess" bullshit, & the women eat it up. The men are so good at it because they believe sincerely & in the depths of their souls that a man should butter up his woman, but still take charge & run things. So, they proceed to run the woman in perfect confidence that this is the natural order of things. And the chicks eat it up. They eat it up for the same reason that CEOs go to be dominated -- it's a fantasy that involves a person in power relinquishing control, & letting someone else make all the decisions.
I normally try to ignore reading what the "toothless revolutionary" writes because he is a self-confessed "piece of shit"....

It will, sometimes anyway, print information on substantial matters that the "respectable" press avoids for political reasons.
That it is a supermarket tabloid that covers lurid rumors (alien love children), for the entertainment of the public, just emphasizes the complete collapse of standards in the elite press, and society as a whole. The top is now known to be less worthy than the bottom, the educated more untrustworthy than the ignorant, champagne more disease-ridden than sewage.
Has anyone ever seen a photo of the Awan brothers?

Conservatives could read it as a brilliant mockery of Trump Derangement Syndrome. Liberals could read it as a well-reasoned criticism of Trump. Guccifer 2.0: Game Over
(1) Introduction
There are individuals, who, in reality, now have a much higher likelihood of being linked to Guccifer2.0 than anyone in Russia. - The intention of this article is to inform readers extensively about everything there is to know about Guccifer2.0 and from that, be armed with enough information to give motive and means the regard they deserve.
To understand who Guccifer2.0 could possibly be - it is imperative to understand WHAT Guccifer2.0 was.
[....]
CLAIM: Hacked the DNC's servers - STATUS: Discredited
Guccifer2.0 stated in an interview with Lorenzo Franceschi-Bicchierai (for Motherboard / Vice News) on the 21st of June, that he breached the server using a "0-day exploit of NGP-Van".
ThreatConnect, although still apparently unswayed from their assessment that Guccifer2.0 is a collective of Russians (we'll get on to that topic later in the article) - did report some very useful facts that serve to debunk Guccifer2.0's claims.
a) NGP-Van is a cloud-hosted web-service, the claimed method of breach was concluded "impossible" by ThreatConnect. - It was noted that phishing for credentials would be far more practical for exploiting such a service.
b) He makes claims of lateral movement within the DNC network - but doesn't realize that his effort to match the reporting of Crowdstrike falls down due to his own misinterpretation of that. - CrowdStrike's report mentions lateral movement in terms of the "BEAR" infrastructure across the whole of the Internet rather than movement within the DNC network - it looks like Guccifer2.0 s trying to make claims that correlate with what he has inferred from CrowdStrike's reportage.
c) To quote ThreatConnect at the time (and nothing has been reported to contradict it since): "As it stands now, none of the Guccifer 2.0 breach details can be independently verified".
[continued in a following comment]
[Continued from my comment at 12:15 PM]
(4) 3rd Party Assessments - Assumptions & Conjecture vs Evidence & Facts
.... There is nothing demonstrating Guccifer2.0 was really a hacker. .... The "evidence" that he's Russian, should be understood in the following context:
* He CHOSE to name his computer account after the founder of the Soviet Secret Police.
* He CHOSE to create/open and then save documents so the Russian name was written to metadata.
* He CHOSE to use a Russian VPN service to cloak his IP address.
* He CHOSE to use public web-based email services that would forward his cloaked IP.
*He CHOSE to use the above to contact various media outlets on the same day.
Note: Thanks to a 3rd party's further investigation, it now appears he may have used a single document as a Russian template (with Russian stylesheet data in), saved it as a set of blank 'pre-tainted' files and then opened them later under a different username - copying/pasting in content from original documents into each blank 'pre-tainted' document before saving again - as the specific process for creating documents (Stylesheet change RSIDs correlating across files certainly suggest it and the metadata fully corroborates it too).
Guccifer2.0 covered himself and the files in the digital equivalent of "Made In Russia" labels while claiming to be a Romanian. (Giving cyber-security firms, journalists and others a flimsy veil they could easily pull off and find Russian "fingerprints" behind - not realizing that what they were revealing was a layer of misdirection that would actually prevent them from considering a 3rd possibility!)
[....]
(9) With Motive & Means - Those More Likely Linked to G2 than Russians
It seemed like there was a good chance Warren Flood had involvement at first, however, he doesn't appear to have been actively working for anyone's campaign in 2016 and it had been 6 years since he had worked at the White House. His name and the fact it's on the GSA license could suggest that the dodgy Russian template document was generated on a computer at (or previously from) the White House (from when Flood was Senator Biden's technology director).
However, Flood himself didn't appear to be someone (or likely to be working for someone) with a motive to discredit Wikileaks and have Russian hackers blamed (nor the experience to pull off the mimicry and deceptions observed).
Those with a motive mostly strongly correlating with this at the time would have been the Clinton Campaign (to mitigate damage to HRC's electoral campaign) and the DNC leadership (who also had reputations at stake from the real leaks being published) ....
This is a story about Leviathan. It is a story about unaccountable and self interested people gaming a system. This is about corruption and graft.
It is endemic and planned by those who wield the power.
The question is: Who can slay Leviathan and how? Its sources of power must be cut off but since Leviathan controls these sources it is nearly impossible. Leviathan grows larger and stronger and we grow smaller and weaker. Trump is our last hope and if he doesn't drain the swamp we are doomed.
The salaries being paid to the Awans are pretty damning evidence that the House members were either complicit and benefiting in some financial way, or some of them were being blackmailed.
I am guessing major pressure has been brought to bear in trying to obstruct the investigation here, and has almost certainly been largely successful so far. When Awan was at Dulles, I think there was probably pressure being applied to allow him to leave, but finally someone involved realized there might actually be a price paid for doing so.
https://theforensicator.wordpress.com/guccifer-2-ngp-van-metadata-analysis/
Guccifer 2.0 NGP/VAN Metadata Analysis
Overview
On 7/5/2016 at approximately 6:45 PM Eastern time, someone copied the data that eventually appears on the “NGP VAN” 7zip file (the subject of this analysis). This 7zip file was published by a persona named Guccifer 2, two months later on September 13, 2016.
Due to the estimated speed of transfer (23 MB/s) calculated in this study, it is unlikely that this initial data transfer could have been done remotely over the Internet.
The initial copying activity was likely done from a computer system that had direct access to the data. By “direct access” we mean that the individual who was collecting the data either had physical access to the computer where the data was stored, or the data was copied over a local high speed network (LAN).
They may have copied a much larger collection of data than the data present in the NGP VAN 7zip. This larger collection of data may have been as large as 19 GB. In that scenario the NGP VAN 7zip file represents only 1/10th of the total amount of material taken.
This initial copying activity was done on a system where Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) settings were in force. Most likely, the computer used to initially copy the data was located somewhere on the East Coast.
The data was likely initially copied to a computer running Linux, because the file last modified times all reflect the apparent time of the copy and this is a characteristic of the the Linux ‘cp’ command (using default options).
A Linux OS may have been booted from a USB flash drive and the data may have been copied back to the same flash drive, which will likely have been formatted with the Linux (ext4) file system.
On September 1, 2016, two months after copying the initial large collection of (alleged) DNC related content (the so-called NGP/VAN data), a subset was transferred to working directories on a system running Windows. The .rar files included in the final 7zip file were built from those working directories.
The computer system where the working directories were built had Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) settings in force. Most likely, this system was located somewhere on the East Coast.
The .rar files and plain files that eventually end up in the “NGP VAN” 7zip file disclosed by Guccifer 2.0 on 9/13/2016 were likely first copied to a USB flash drive, which served as the source data for the final 7zip file. There is no information to determine when or where the final 7zip file was built.

I present to you... walter, ladies and gentlemen. Apparently in his spare time he relaxes by reading titles. Perhaps there's even a book club for his type where they discuss titles, alone. Cliff's Notes for titles.
I'm not making anything about anybody, or desperate about anything. Just responding to the outrage! people (like the excrement-fixated "Hyphenated American) feel when reminded that there's ten times as much dirt on President Tabloid to go after in terms of credibility and criminality than anything they've gotten on any Democrat. And this upsets them.
They've thrown all their money on a single Powerball number, and will rage incessantly against anything that doesn't keep the machine tilted toward that ball being the one to win.
You zombies can take DWS. Who knows? Maybe even after an indictment does or never does come, she'll run for the Republican presidential nomination just like her other lifelong Democrat, Donald Trump, did.
HAHAHA.
What is Awan's citizenship? (As well as the brothers and sisters and inlaws) He was born in Pakistan and I am guessing he is/was a Pakistani citizen.
Was he naturalized in the US? Is he a US citizen?
The articles about his arraignment mention passports (plural). Perhaps Pakistani and US?
I know we have a couple of green card holders here, does a greencard holder get a US passport? Serious question, how does this work?
The Awan's had the highest level of security clearance. How does a Pakistani citizen get that?
I've asked the same question about Huma Abedin's clearance before because of her mother who works for the Saudi govt. Now I am remembering that her mother is Pakistani though apparently has not lived in Pakistan since the 70s or so.
Might there be some possible connection from Awan to Huma to Crooked Hillary? Yeah, I know, it is quite a stretch. I do hope someone at least looks at it.

Who at the FBI decided that the FBI would not examine the DNC's hardware?
The answer is "Crazy Comey the Leaker".
Now Robert "The FBI White-Washer" Mueller has a decision to make.
Will Mueller abandon the ship and tell the public what really happened?
My guess is NO.

Thanks, I forgot.
" Trump is our last hope and if he doesn't drain the swamp we are doomed. "
Yes, the "Flight 93 Election" seems to have recovered and is proceeding on course.
The question is whether anyone can get to the controls in time.
Maybe the Awan case is another chance,
"Awan's had the highest level of security clearance. How does a Pakistani citizen get that?"
Nothing to see here. These are not the drones you're looking for.
When you talk Pakistan, you also have to talk Taliban.
When you talk Taliban, you also have to talk our ongoing war against them in Afghanistan.
"How does a Pakistani citizen get that?"
I've seen some comment about his being a US citizen.
The reason I ask about citizenship is that I have been following this story since February and I have never seen it addressed.
Seems to me that it may be one of the key questions to getting to the bottom of this.
Perhaps it is time to remember why McCarthy was so vilified. He went after people in govt positions with security clearance who were selling or giving info to the Russians. He was going to overturn the Russian applecart.
It took a while but we finally know he was pretty close to 100% right. All the people he went after really were guilty as charged. By making it all about McCarthy and his methods, the treason was obfuscated and allowed to continue.
Unk/Inga squeamish and others are flapping their hands around just like the big thinkers did in the 40s and 50s. Problem is, your hands just aren't big enough to block it out. But it is interesting to watch you all flopping around like a fish on the dock which knows it is dead, just no yet.
Joseph Stalin's personal representative in the US for many years as head of Comintern and the CPUSA was Earl Browder. His son was born in Moscow. His grandson was born in the US. Probably just coincidence that he is at the heart of this megillah about the meeting with the Russian lawyer.
For those who believe coincidences occur.

On this IT scammers thing I’ll believe bank fraud but won’t believe anything else about it unless there’s an indictment detailing something else. Bank fraud is motive enough to explain the scammers’ behavior. I’ll admit the Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s behavior is strange but strange doesn’t get an indictment most of the time. I’ll wait to see what develops before I’ll jump to a conclusion based on mere suspicion.
In a more amusing vein:
Idiotic Meme of the Day: Trump brought Kelly in to bring discipline to … TRUMP! That was the assumption this AM by the panel on This Weak With George Staphinfectionopoulos. They see Kelly as someone who is going to bring Trump to heel and I guess stop all those troublesome tweets.
Why would the panelists ignore the fact that shit ALWAYS flows downhill? Perhaps because the meme is the necessary setup for the future spin, which will be that poor Kelly, whose task it was to discipline his boss, is failing because Kelly can’t stop Trump’s terrible tweets.
The simpler explanation is that they become stupid when they are confronted with anything having to do with Trump, the main symptom of The Bubble Effect – which is a milder yet synergistic companion of Trump Derangement Syndrome.
Once I saw the panel lineups on Fox and Meet the Press I hit the delete button. No one of interest there.
Thanks sodal ye. I'm aware of that. But then the screen scrolls when you try and expand the selected text box. Pain n the ass. It's why I (almost) always make the effort to hyperlink my links for people.
Michael, I think his being a US citizen has always been implied and I have certainly been assuming it.
I have never seen it confirmed or even addressed.
I would be interested in any links that might cover this.

I think Blabbermouth Schultz is a crackpot and not rsponsible for what she says or does. But the Democrats elected her DNC chair.

I didn't get that @grackle. I heard most of them say that that's one of the things that Kelly needs to do for Trump but there was almost across-the-board skepticism or doubt that Trump would allow him to do that. Some thought Kelly might be able to manage Trump (and the staff), but others thought he wouldn't be allowed to and would thus fail at the job. I didn't hear any of them say that it was Trump's idea for Kelly to bring more discipline to Trump. Some for example said they thought he brought Kelly in because he was comfortable with the military guys and strong men.
But yeah, imposing discipline on Trump does seem like wishful thinking.
Even if Awan is a citizen, it's curious -- given what we know so far -- that he passed the single-scope investigation to be granted such a high level clearance.
"I think his being a US citizen has always been implied and I ha"
I thought that this story mentioned he was a US citizen, but I was wrong or it has been modified to delete that assertion, which I think was from the lawyer,
You go Ruthless Umlaut! Maybe we should call you Ed Hominem.

Less of a touch of the Indio, if any at all, than our 1/8th Mexican children. If we had given them Nahuatl names we might have assured them of glorious political careers. A lack of foresight on our part.

I don't think you understand what discipline means.
Replacing Priebus with Kelley at this point in time makes complete sense if you think rationally. If you are an idiot that falls for the msm lies it must be CHAOS!
I didn't get that @grackle.
Are we talking about the same panel?
Julie Pace: … the second challenge he[Kelly] has is to get Trump to be more disciplined …
Dowd: [Kelly] … isn’t going to change anything … Donald Trump is going to continue being Donald Trump …
Castellano: … it all depends if General Kelly is able to get Donald Trump into boot camp … if he is able to discipline the POTUS … how Trump embraces that discipline from Kelly is going to set the example …
That’s three out of four – the other panelist wasn’t asked for a comment on Kelly vis a vis Trump.
Buwaya boasts: Xochitl Hinojosa looks like half my relatives (we are a very good-looking clan).
If only modesty were added to your many virtues! ;-)

Most of the people I heard on this said that it was a good choice, that at the least it indicated that Trump realized there had to be a change in the White House. They were just skeptical that Kelly would be allowed to do to actually stop the chaos. The opinion is that no matter who Trump picks for COS, it's probably always still going to be Trump, and he can't change. But we'll see.
I like the idea that somebody elected to disrupt TPB must be disciplined. Disciplined by those who have games the system, I imagine they believe.
Leviathan wishes to perform the discipline.
Are we talking about the same panel?
Yes, everyone on the panel agrees, virtually everyone in the country agrees including a lot of Trump supporters, Trump badly needs more discipline.
None of them said that's why Trump brought Kelly in, however. Nor do your quotes indicate them saying that.
They are right, Trump needs discipline. Apparently you don't thinks so, however. You're entitled.
no matter who Trump picks for COS, it's probably always still going to be Trump,
Meant to say "no matter who Trump picks for COS, it's probably always still going to be Trump who is the actual COS".
Funny how Trump needs things but Democrats don't.
What do Democrats need, Brookzene?
"The opinion is that no matter who Trump picks for COS, it's probably always still going to be Trump, and he can't change. But we'll see."
People who watch government all of the time are confused by Trump.
People who work and manage or are executives in the private sector are not.
Failure is not rewarded out here in the real world.
Oh, please. You can hardly deny the White House is in chaos. This past week was a doozy, but so was the week before. The predators see it as well.
What do Democrats need, Brookzene?
What do Democrats need, Brookzene?
Democrats need what all of us need. A White House that isn't a danger to its own country.
or. I’ll admit the Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s behavior is strange but strange doesn’t get an indictment most of the time.
When William Jefferson (D-LA) was being investigated and the FBI raided his House office, I found it odd Dennis Hastert jumped on the FBI:
WASHINGTON -- In a rare bipartisan action, House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert and minority leader Nancy Pelosi demanded yesterday that the Justice Department immediately return documents that were seized when federal agents raided the office of Representative William Jefferson as part of a bribery probe.
Pointing out that ``no person is above the law, neither the one being investigated nor those conducting the investigation," Hastert, an Illinois Republican, and Pelosi, a California Democrat, asserted that the Justice Department must cease reviewing the documents and ensure that their contents are not divulged. Once the papers are returned, ``Congressman Jefferson can and should fully cooperate with the Justice Department's efforts, consistent with his constitutional rights," the statement said.
The demands by Hastert and Pelosi further escalated a separation-of-powers conflict between Congress and the White House. The raid last weekend on the office of Jefferson, a Louisiana Democrat, was the first time in history that the FBI has executed a search warrant on the Capitol Hill office of a sitting lawmaker.
It seemed like odd behavior, for a Republican to protect a Democrat in what looked to be fraud (remember Jeffereson had stopped by his home in the middle of the Katrina floods to get money out of his freezer).
But all these years later, we find out Hastert had good reason to not want office computers raided. He was hiding something.
So....yeah. If a Congressman acts in a way that seems inexplicable, there is usually an explanation they don't want to make.
Sorry. The link on that:

Agreed, Brookzene. That is why we had an election and Obama is a private citizen.
What do Democrats need?
What is chaos?
That which is not normal?
If it is generally conceded (as it has been by nearly all) that the previous organized normal was badly sub-optimal, then "chaos" is necessary; at some point "chaos" will be redefined as normal (the old normal will never be restored), hopefully in a higher state of being than the old normal.
Experience with a lifetime of corporate reorganizations.
Well done, MayBee.
Agreed, Brookzene. That is why we had an election and Obama is a private citizen.

Another distraction.
One way or another the Mooch will provide one.
Within a week of his inauguration the press declared that the White House was in chaos. All lefties have since seized on . their choice of chaos as the word of the year, a shorter but more important word than even Russia!. Lefties think the news is the cat's meow.
What do the Democrats need?
Policies that don't gut Medicare/Medicaid, deregulate Wall Street, bloat the military, or prioritize access to Congress by billionaires instead of the normal people most affected by its legislation.
I'm sure you'll respond with some ideological bullshit about "freedom". Probably while imagining yourself mounting a horse, wearing blue face paint, and rallying the Scots under William Wallace a la Mel Gibson's Braveheart scene.
You are more predictable than you think.
Within a week of his inauguration the press declared that the White House was in chaos.
Oh I know. Because this day-after inauguration press briefing is so disciplined!
It must take discipline! to lie like THAT, you would apparently have us believe.
Since then, his crib became a den of back-stabbers - totally predictable to any business professional given how difficult it is for Trump to trust, delegate or treat his staff with any fairness whatsoever. It's just a drama machine where the most manipulative flatterer wins!
Apparently a management style you identify with, Michael?
Somebody's going to get Vince Fostered.

No, the new of wide-spread chaos in the White House is very sad, very disheartening, and a sign of something extremely sick in the time in which we live. I'm not saying it's all Trump's fault by any means, he's just a very bad symptom, but I doubt the prognosis is very good.
When will the broadcast media report this with the same intensity they report the RUSSIA RUSSIA RUSSIA "news"? How long until THIS leads the abc nbc cbs cnn newscasts?
