A little higher hit rate than that - 4 were wounded the Congressman, a staffer, and the two Capital Police in his protection detail (which he has because he is part of the Republican leadership in the House). Those two are the real heros, running to the sound of gunfire, and apparently successfully engaging the shooter with handguns, while he had a rifle. 50 meters may be an easy shot for a Marine with an M16, but is far harder with handguns.
So far, it appears that the shooter was using a semi automatic AK-47 variant (symbolic of his allegiances?) Which are supposed to be notably less accurate at distances than M16s (or AR-15s). Suspect that the outcome would have been much different with a shooter well trained on a more accurate semi automatic rifle.

That's not humor. I'm pointing out that that's really an unAmerican remark, that people with a certain political disposition in our country should not be entitled to their Second Amendments. That's not America, is it? Democratic Socialists shouldn't be allowed to have guns? What do you think?

NO EXCEPTIONS.
Politically-motivated violence in America in owned by the left exclusively. The tools of the left are censorship, ostracism, beatings, and murder. On the right relies on honest debate.

Inga's reaction was to babble nonsensically about Alex Jones. She hasn't turned up in this thread. My guess is that she hasn't read Salon and Politico and WaPo enough and so doesn't know what to think yet. No, I don't choose to let you squirrel off on this tack. How to handle the predilection for violence and mayhem on the left is a real issue. I'm willing to concede that taking your guns away is probably not a valid solution of the difficulty but that's not what it's about today.
