Good to know a fine, well adjusted man like Carlos Danger will have/has had primary responsibility for raising the child....

At least Huma has learned from Secretary Clinton to stand by her man......

It is fake news. All we know is that the lease was renewed. We don't know who is on the lease. There is no indication they will be living together. No indication on where the child will live.

When I was a prosecutor in my youth, I would complain to judges (tongue only slightly in cheek) that middle class felons got screwed in sentencing:

The rich and connected had a support network (family and financial resources for various and sundry therapies and programs) available to defendant who would best rehabilitate OUT of custody...

The poor were disadvantaged in family (almost always single parent) and poor schools / economics and accordingly merited a break...

Middle class... well... good luck spending the Upper Term in the Gen Pop...

Weiner is 'back home' so his lawyer can make a better lenient sentence argument (family support). And, yes, I suspect Huma has taken him back (pre-sentencing) to keep him quiet.

My fires is the guy needs a place to stay until sentencing. After that, he's either in jail or on his own. No need to have him sign a separate lease if he'll do some time, which may still be in the cards.

Sadly, the above commentators are probably right. There's some angle the Clintons have on this "reconciliation." In the immortal words of President LBJ, the Clintons probably want Mr. Danger in the tent pissing out, rather than outside the tent, pissing in.

Alas, he remains a kept stooge -- at least until he goes to prison. Will this madness never end? I do not relish his predicament.

It's incredible the amount of disclosure buildings demand to lease an apartment in NYC. Employment data, Tax returns, Bank and brokerage statements, recommendations. That's just to rent (don't even get me started on co-ops!). Must be there's some people who still find value in being close to the Clintons.

Of course, she's taking him back. It was always an "arranged" marriage. Now that the Clinton campaign is over, she can "take him back" without too much embarrassment rubbing off on the Clinton Machine.

The question isn't why she's taking Weiner back. The question is why she married the clown in the first place. Abedin's family is Salafist (her mother is an editor at a Salafist journal in Saudi Arabia). They can't be happy that she married not only outside the faith, but to an American secular Jew. They also probably aren't happy that she poses for photos in a bikini on a yacht at Monaco.

What's the story here? Does Huma Abedin have any contact with her family? Is her family more "liberal" than they seem? Or, is she up for an honor killing if she ever sets foot in Arabia or Pakistan?

Inquiring minds want to know. Which is more than you can say for the media, apparently.

Bay Area Guy said...

You know if Huma "invites" Mr. Weiner back to their humble abode ($143K rent/year), but again systematically deprives him of the, ahem, "marital bedroom privilege," he could have a serious relapse, and start all that darn texting again.

Sexual frustration is a serious problem. I hope he has mustered up enough courage to confront this problem.

How many affairs did Trump have over his three marriages? We know that he was a serial cheater on his first two wives.

Hillary and Bill Clinton through out all of their ups and downs—both in their public and private lives—have remained committed to each other.

You would think that conservatives would acknowledge and honor that, especially given how many Republican luminaries (Gingrich, Reagan, Giuliani, etc.) have failed at their marriages.

Committed to each other? Or so committed to their political goals and the attainment of ill-gotten wealth and political power that infidelity mattered only insofar as it got in the way of those goals, not because it was a betrayal of wedding vows.

The single most stunningly phony thing about the DNC convention was the attempt to make the Clintons look like a couple devoted to each other. Even Democrats (the more intelligent ones, anyway) had to have laughed at that one.

Really though, like many great self identified prognosticators, the defense here is not that the prediction was wrong but that it too early. Now the DJIA will never again see 20,000, you see...

I've said it before here, and I see Ann says it now too. Huma really loves him, and that is her curse.

If this reporting is true--we always have had to have that caveat, it's just now in the open--honestly what political advantage can possibly accrue to Huma or to Hillary in Huma's reuniting with the creepy pervert who is a national laughingstock?

Where in the country does anyone think that it would be morally wrong to divorce someone like Anthony Weiner? Maybe there are some Pennsylvania Dutch who might still think so.

I never thought the "political marriage" angle held water, and if this reporting is true, the "political marriage" angle is as ridiculous as the 9-D chess angle for Trump's tweeting.

Bay Area Guy said...

Hmmm. I hope this would be the case, too. I'm an eternal optimist.

But if she loves him, how is she showing it to him? From personal experience of over 5 decades on this planet, and over 2 decades of a healthy marriage, I do feel the love from Bay Area Gal, and therefore, can't even contemplate spending any time texting strange teenage girls.

Doesn't that activity suggest, an absence of real, tangible, love in his life?

True, I could be wrong. I ain't a professional psycho-babbler.

Have you never loved someone who always hurt everyone around them, and themselves, and didn't seem to be able to stop?

Of course, I have. As a young man, we all get into crazy, misguided, off again, on again relationships.

But as a 52-year old? (Weiner's age)

I admire the sympathy shown to Weiner by some of the commentators. But there's a political angle here, much more pronounced, than a dorm-room drama of "I love him, I hate him, I can't live with him, I can't live without him."

The man is going to jail at age 52. Full stop. What on earth can be causing this much chaos and confusion in this man's life for this to happen? Whatever it is, it doesn't sound like love (at least to me).

Can you explain what it is? I am mystified by what political advantage is supposed to accrue to Huma's loyalty to Weiner.

Hillary's to Bill is something else again. Perfectly plausible there. Not this one.

Hillary stuck to Bill, and by and large so did the voters. Bill Clinton has never been perceived as ridiculous or creepy or a loser. He's been a charming, lovable rogue associated with what were in retrospect very good times for this country. (I am not endorsing this perception, I am merely reporting it.)

The money comes in to the Clintons because of Bill, and Hillary's position in the Party is because of Bill.

What does Weiner do for Huma but humiliate her and make her patrons look bad?

Seriously I am baffled. Who is this constituency that will reward Huma or the Clintons politically for her sticking with Weiner, and what will they reward with?

I think that they were encouraged to form a relationship for political reasons, but that there is some real affection there, at least on Huma's part. She's also going through a major crisis in her life. She's been Hillary!'s shadow for so long, basically being groomed to be a Clinton heir. That's all gone now. The foundation will wither away, there will be no executive agency jobs for the next four to eight years, and after that may not be anything either depending on who wins power in the Democratic Party. It's not surprising that she may decide it's worth trying to reconcile with the father of her son for the sake of her son, since at this point she doesn't have much else.

Gabriel, as far as I can tell she doesn't come from wealth. Her parents are minor-league academics in the humanities, she got a bachelor's degree from GWU, and she's spent basically her entire career working for the government, either directly or as the aide or assistant of a government official. The government pay scales aren't exactly intended to make people rich.

As others have pointed out, she pays $143k a year in rent. WTF?

Kind of like Harry Reid, I suppose. Born to a poor family, spent entire career in government service, now a multi-millionaire. Just good at picking stocks, I guess. Amazing how many of these people are so good at picking stocks.

@Gabriel:

It is true that nobody who knows (Hillary, Huma, Weiner) will talk. So we can only speculate.

But the reasonable speculation, is that they don't want him outside the fold, aiming arrows at them. He's kinda like Fredo in the Godfather -- a somewhat pathetic figure they keep around, until he can be safely disposed.

Don't you think if he broke away from Huma/Hillary, and started to believe that he was wrongly treated, that he could write a best-selling book about his travails that would make HUma/Hillary look pretty bad?

Huma was a short step from being one of the most powerful people in the country. Anthony was not far behind until his oddities began to reveal. He might still have had a lot of influence. Trump's principal accomplishment remains the defeat of Hillary.

Where do they get the money to afford $140k plus a year just for their apartment? We won't ever know, but its doubtful that their funding sources are in danger. They know too much.

Gabriel, one possibility is that Weiner knows a lot of things and could tell a lot of tales that would be immensely damaging to the Clintons (reputationally or legally), given his relationship with Abedin.

In this scenario it's a pretty simple deal - I just want to be close to my child. Make it happen or I start talking. To protect her patrons and the lifestyle associated with a $140k/yr apartment, Huma plays ball, potentially at the urging of the Clintons.

An alternative is that yes, after all of the disloyalty and humiliations, she sees something in a sexting pervert that others don't and is willing to give him yet another chance.

I'm not sure which scenario is more likely.

Good day to everyone out there and I am here to share a very great testimony of how I became free and happy today after all I went through with my Ex wife and her lawyer as they tried to end my life after my wife and her so called attorney tried to ruined my life. I was with my Ex wife for over 10years and we both have worked together that we had a joint account both in Europe and America because we loved each other so much that I never expected what happened to me later. My wife filed for a divorce and tried to claim all the money we worked hard for both in Europe and America including our only child Mira. So I almost gave up my life if not for the help of my very good friend who resides in Europe where I worked for over 7years and we have been good coworkers for years that introduced me to a hacker whom I contacted to help me hack into the accounts and move the money for me not to end up committing suicide at the age of 56 years. At first I was scared that if he falls and get caught what’s going to happen but my coworker assured me that his a genius and very calm and ready to listen to my problems so I proceeded with him to handle the hacking of the bank accounts to move some of the money for me without anyone getting to know about it till date. He was able to move %80 of the funds both in Europe and America via online banking system that I am now leaving in Australia trying to start up a new life and family too. Please I know too well there are lots of people going through this out there and I pray for you to be strong until you get to see this post that will change your life in less than a week of working with this amazing hacker. My name is Patrick Fisher and I tell you that his the best and very good hearted man to help you and I don’t know if he does any other hacking job but I can only testify for what a did for me. May God bless each and every one of you going through hard times in their homes today? be strong and I hope everyone tells their stories someday.
