From experience; options left implicit are easily missed by a lot of people. Be in enough technical/business meetings and you get an idea of the range and power of intellectual blinkers.

Its rare to find people who are able to truly think outside of the box, or even to understand that they are in a box.

And this even in strictly professional matters without ideological loading, or even (though not always) without a personal incentive to insist on a box.
