White Van!

Age Restricted because, well, it's Laslo.

Keep busy, keep busy, keep moving, keep moving.

Best enjoyed with a beer or three, perhaps...

I am Laslo.

The trouble with classic action movies is inferior fights and explosions.

No tulips in Arizona.

Lots of cactus in bloom, though

Modern action movies are nothing but fights and explosions.

Most forget, or never knew, that John Wayne's career began because he was able to choreograph better fight scenes in his B movies.

He invented the realistic fight scene.

Very close focus, and your camera settings deal very well with reds. Good camera.

Kurosawa did excellent fight scenes. Particularly with groups. Seven Samurai had some realistic behavior of groups of spear-armed peasants - he got that group-dynamic-fear-response thing so you could feel it.

Action movies usually dont do fear realistically. Nor of course physical damage. The characters are supermen, or robots.

Andrew Traver, director of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, can't count.

"In a cramped office at the Marines' Quantico base outside Washington, about 20 investigators sit elbow to elbow, staring into their computers as images of naked men and women flash across the screens.
...
A simple word search of "uniformed military nude" got nearly 80 million hits, Traver told The Associated Press during the interview in his Quantico office."

56 results for "uniformed" "military" "nude"
1 result for ["uniformed military nude"] - the article.

In Traver's defense, I often get 56 confused with 80,000,000.

"Kurosawa did excellent fight scenes. "

Wayne choreographed the fist fight scenes in western B movies.

Thanks for posting this. One of the most fascinating things about this essay is the frightening truth that our intellectual capabilities have degraded immensely in the last 80 years . There are probably very few people alive who could write at this exalted level and possibly even fewer who could understand what he is saying , but even the very small part that I can grasp causes me to think deep and soaring thoughts about the genesis and the nature of the universe.

Lake City?

I watched, and thought that it moved kind of slow in a couple of places. The back-n-forth in the yard was a little tedious. It needed more action.....maybe one guy mowing the lawn, or additional camera angles. Yeah....everyone is a critic.

Is the pink cake doughnut symbolism for a woman's lady parts? Is there a reason for the doughnut man being so buffoonish?

Marcon has won. Now LeMonde can consider the leaked documents "old news" and move on.

There will be cursory reporting for show, but there is nothing to be gained by embarrassing or undermining the new President.

D.W. Griffith, Sergei Eisenstein, and Leni Riefenstahl were talented filmmakers with flawed politics. Of the three, only the reputation of Eisenstein has not suffered a considerable let down because of the disreputable causes the filmmaker championed. I'm sure this observation proves something.

TRENTON, OH (FOX19) -

An Edgewood Middle School student was handed a 10-day suspension for “liking” a picture of a gun on Instagram with the caption “ready."

The parents of Zachary Bowlin posted a picture of the intended suspension notice which read, “The reason for the intended suspension is as follows: Liking a post on social media that indicated potential school violence.”

"I was livid, I mean, I’m sitting here thinking ‘you just suspended him for ten days for liking a picture of a gun on a social media site," father Marty Bowlin said. "He never shared, he never commented, he never made a threatening post… anything on the site, just liked it."

The picture in question is of an airsoft gun, and according to the students’ parents, their child didn’t comment on the post but simply liked the picture.

"I liked it, scrolling down Instagram at night about 7, 8 o’clock I liked it," Zacahry said. "The next morning they called me down [to the office] patted me down and checked me for weapons."

Since receiving the notice, the family said the school has dropped the suspension and there will be no repercussions for the child’s actions.

Friday morning an email went out to parents stating:

“Yesterday evening school officials were made aware to an alleged threat of a student bringing a gun to school. We act on any potential threat to student safety swiftly and with the utmost importance. This morning, the alleged threat was addressed and we can assure you that all students at Edgewood Middle School are safe and school will continue as normal. Thank you”

If Le Pen can keep her 34% her party will be the majority party in next year's elections. By then, Macron will be exposed as an empty suit.

Rene Saunce said...

Obama endorsed Macron because Macron's win was a sure thing. Obama, after his humiliating loss at the hands of the Clinton Corruption Machine - the INEPT Clinton Corruption machine, needed a "win".

Obama for the win! (LOL)

Will it be OK now to laugh and mock the French as their demise accelerates?

exiledonmainstreet said...

Like I said, Obama endorsing Macron was like picking the Patriots to beat the Browns. (sorry for the football analogy, Althouse.). completely unsurprising.

But let the lefties here enjoy their piddling little victories. They have to take what little comfort they can- especially since it's starting to dawn on even the dumbest leftist bozos that the Russian thing isn't going anywhere.

mockturtle said...

I find it heartening that more than one in three French voters are wise to what is going on. It will take another election cycle.

Inga is always good for a laugh.

exiledonmainstreet said...

Mockturtle, yeah, what happens next is that the French economic decline will continue, since Mommys Boy's polices are no different than the highly unpopular Hollande. there will be more horrible terrorist attacks.

Then maybe the French will wake up. Or they'll turn to someone who is, unlike LePen, an actual fascist.

mockturtle said...

It will be interesting to see what happens in the German election in September. While they may not elect a fascist, I doubt Merkel will be re-elected.

@Laslo, Re: "White Van"

I was a tad disappointed towards the end in your placard homage to "Subterranean Homesick Blues." Or was a paean to the Coen Bros (Jackie Treehorn's drawing?)

Great first effort!

Exiled has absolutely no idea as to what I read. She says she is "honored" to have me call her an ass, so I will once again honor her assholery. Exiled is one big huge ass in all ways possible. She'll be in an evil mood now that her female Trump lost in France. It gves me a warm fuzzy feeling to know Exiled has the sads.

there are some exceptionally well read commenters here. You are not one of them.

mockturtle said...

That would appear to be the case. Probably for the same reason quite a number of feminists marry Muslim men. A deep-seated desire to be dominated, subdued, relieved of real responsibility. Maybe Daddy wasn't harsh enough.

As a matter of fact, Exiled and Mockturtle get so titilated by Laslo's little stories, I would've thought they'd be the type to love Fifty Shades of Gray, lol.

Inga said...

Fifty Shades of Gray is a stupid piece of pornography.

My preferred reading material runs more along the lines of novels by Jane Austen, the Bronte sisters, Margaret Atwood, Neville Shute, Mary Shelley, Louisa May Alcott, Virginia Woolf, Margaret Mitchell, Edith Wharton, James Fenimore Cooper, William Faulkner, JD Salinger, John Steinbeck and many many more.

Some of us don't feel the need to prove to others how well read we are. Such comments, as those by Exiled and Mockturtle only display their own small minds, their ignorance. They can't imagine that others may be as well read as they perceive themselves to be.

Gahrie said...

Here we see the camera used as the artist's brush. And brushing past Georgia O'Keeffe.

PS> I don't think Althouse simply placed her camera in the flower's face and clicked, but somehow talked one or the other, the tulip I think, into posing a certain way. And with a superb result.
