In the United States, Ms. Trump has become a controversial figure, battling persistent questions about business conflicts and criticism for not doing more to moderate her father’s policies toward women.
NY Times delusions. The rest of the world is not obsessed with Trump Derangement.
I remember back in 2013 when I was fulminating to a friend in Japan about Caroline Kennedy being named ambassador to Japan. He assured me that the Japanese were actually quite thrilled by the appointment and were taking it as a symbol of the importance of Japan to the United States. When I ran down the standard list of criticisms (criticisms I stand by) of her appointment, he said that she was seen as "American royalty" in Japan.
Speaking of Ivanka Trump, I was in 'Ross Dress for Less' today and saw a pretty I.T. dress marked down to $24. It was not suitable for me but I almost bought it, anyway, just because.
People who are appointed ambassadors should be fluent in the language of the country where they will serve.
I don't necessarily agree with that. John Roos, Kennedy's predecessor, did not speak Japanese and was by all accounts an extremely successful steward of the US-Japanese relationship.
And his family one of the most corrupt and degenerate.
Agreed. It is stomach-turning the amount of hagiographic praise that has heaped on that group of gargoyles.
People who are appointed ambassadors should be fluent in the language of the country where they will serve.
That limits the pool unnecessarily. It's certainly a bonus to speak the language, but how many people are qualified to be an ambassador and speak Tongan? And what about a place like India, with (officially) twenty two different languages?
I'm surprised at the amount of vitriol Ivanka gets from the left. She's the one person in the Trump administration who kinda sees things your way, so you do your best to alienate her?
Kan: What do you feel? (Kan is watching Young Grasshopper, and he is watching a young girl perform a dance. And she smiles at Grasshopper).
Grasshopper: Nothing.
Kan: What do you feel?!
Grasshopper: Uncomfortable.
Kan: The mind, the body, the spirit are one. When the body expresses the desires of the mind and the spirit, then the body is in tune with nature. The act is pure. And there is no shame.

Well, the conflicts are fake scandal of the sort the Times deals in almost exclusively. What polices towards women are they referring to? Or did they make that up too?
"A lot of people think Ivanka is the real president” - that was my pro-Trump argument before the election. Ivanka and her husband will end up running everything (that seems to be coming true - bye bye Bannon) and so it was really a choice between HC and her gang of toadie crooks or Ivanka and her husband.

Chelsea Clinton is being groomed to be President someday and she could learn a lot from Ivanka, who was also born into a privileged life. Or maybe its Bill and Hillary who could have learned from Donald Trump. Trump makes all of his kids work and he expected them to work hard. Invanka apparently did work hard, developed an impressive resume and is admired. What has Chelsea done that would make anyone admire her or call her a goddess? I remember Chelsea saying that "she didn't care about money" which was easy for her to say when she was pulling in hundreds of thousands of dollars a year being a ceremonial member of a board and receiving who knows what other sources of funds each year without putting out too much effort, or risk, on her part. Ivanaka for President!
One of my, campaign 2016, favorite souvenirs is a snap of me and Ivanka, in the Nashua, N.H. Trump campaign office, where she visited to rally the troops just days before the election. She was gracious and patient, listening to my story of how my daughter-in-law, a New Yorker herself, wanted her autograph and was a yuuuuge admirer of hers. Someone else used my phone to take the pic and Ivanka signed not one but three autographs for me.

(Caroline Kennedy) was seen as "American royalty" in Japan.
She is seen that way by many here in the states. There is a reason her father's presidency was called Camelot.
"A lot of people think Ivanka is the real president,” said Li Moya, 31... ." This is why the NYT ran the story.

Ugh, you're completely right, but please don't remind me. I loathe the Kennedy family and their whole entitled ilk.

JFK was probably the second worst president of the 20th century.

Eight years ago, they couldn't find anyone that wanted to emulate Michelle Obama. Therefore........RACIST

A picture of Ivanka would be worth a thousand words.
And I must admit a level of devotion. If I were younger I'd volunteer to lead the palace guard.

Kan: Love is harmony, even in discord.

My thoughts exactly.
I've heard from someone living in China that Trump is surprisingly well regarded because Chinese are impressed by successful business tycoons,
I've heard from someone living in China that Trump is surprisingly well regarded because Chinese are impressed by successful business tycoons.
Why should it be surprising that successful businessmen, who actually accomplish things, are more highly regarded than, say, politicians.
She's pretty impressive and likable. I wonder if she'll be running for office someday.
Give Trump two successful terms with her by his side and you are looking at the first female president.
Surprising because he's anti-China.
If Ivanka came out as a Communist, the NYT could finally get behind her. Those lickspittles really love Communists.

" Did Caroline Kennedy speak Japanese?"
She barely speaks English. Have you ever heard her speak ?

Or if she converted to Islam. The NYT loves Muslims. 9/11, y'know.
