Super bloom.

Trampled.

Wow, makes me want to go to Catalina Island. But I feel sorry for all the humble grasses, discriminated against when no one cares when they get trampled on by crowds.

Those flowers are someone's mother...seedwise. We need a "All Spring Flowers Matter" Law, with a 30 day sunset provision.

The bloom may last a whole month. Why shouldn't people enjoy it while it lasts?
The only thing being "destroyed" is the gentry's control of the paths and the view.

Why does this make me think of Jared complaining about Bannon stomping around in Manhattan's Upper East Side's new halls of government.

Because people are idiots. They won't stay on the paths and instead trample to death the flowers of plants that have been waiting decades to bloom and are now smashed to death before they can make seeds to sit dormant for many more years until the next 'wet' year.

Rude, obnoxious, ignorant, selfish people. This is why we can't have nice things.

There is no shortage of flowers this spring in California. The entire human race could not hope to stamp them all out.
Rainy and stormy today unfortunately.

And I have been suffering from particularly powerful allergies.

DBQ,
I do not think the US Gov't could destroy all that with a carpet of Agent Orange.
People picking flowers and walking around in there are not going to prevent a fraction of a promille of the seeds from being born and spread around for the next flowering.

The article should have included a wider view photo of the destruction. They have photos showing vast areas of flowers but only one of a small section of flattened flowers. It makes the shutdown look like an overreaction.

Most avid hikers, birders, etc. have the sense to stay on trail. Weekenders/tourists often don't. Annoying but probably not permanently destructive. ATVs, on the other hand....

Lacing druthers it could be true if said, naively, you weren't aware "lacking" has that k in it, but can we all conclude I lost my point 'fore existence?

Abortions happen.

You lament me and my lacking, and not all those millions of possible capable laments, if it is what you do it must be what you like doing per Althouse the host, and you don't even quote Kipling all that much, far as I know.

I quote Kipling and Althouse.

Ha.

Where I live a main is closed for a week. I can see the workmen but the detour is further up the road. A constant line cars drives down until they have to do a u-turn. All these people think rules don't apply to them.

What % of people thinking that way can any group maintain?
