"A Muslim man has died after he was attacked by hundreds of vigilantes while transporting cows in India..."

"... police said they had registered a murder case over 55-year-old Pehlu Khan's death in hospital on Monday, two days after a mob attacked his cattle truck on a highway in Alwar in the western state of Rajasthan."
But police also said they were preparing a case against the survivors of the attack, whom they suspect of trying to smuggle the cattle across state borders.

Cows are considered sacred in Hindu-majority India, where squads of vigilantes roam highways inspecting livestock trucks for any trace of the animal....

"It is illegal to transport cows, but people ignore it and cow protectors are trying to stop such people from trafficking them," [Rajasthan home minister Gulab Chand Kataria] told reporters.

At least 10 Muslim men have been killed in similar incidents across the country by Hindu mobs on suspicion of eating beef or smuggling cows in the last two years.

One of the foolish leftovers of British rule in India is domestic border controls on trade. Free trade doesn't exist within India, and you can see miles-long backups of trucks at the border control posts between states in India. Some of these barriers to internal trade also exist in Canada and Australia, but they are not as comprehensive as the Indian versions.

In honor of Autism awareness, Google "autism cow movie" and it will pull up Temple Grandin's HBO movie. That one made me cry, and that ain't easy to do.

All sorts of cattle trucks on Interstate 80 through Iowa and Nebraska. Will Hindus attack them? First Amendment? Diversity?

Seriously, smart people from India are usually vegetarians for some reason. But to be socially accepted at Bar b que restaurants they will nibble on a chickin sandwich.

We are blessed our Judeo Christian heritage , as updated by Paul, to eat anything at all. We are commanded to let no man judge us in food or drink. But there maybe an issue with rare bleeding steak.

Not surprising. Yippee-yi-yo-ti-ya qualifies as hate speech on a Hindu ranch.

Muslims constitute almost 15% of the population of India, whereas 2.5% of Pakistanis are Hindus, and these live mostly in the disputed border regions of the Punjab. Muslims serve in the Indian Army, whereas the Pakistani Army service is banned by law to anyone who is not a true believer.

This kind of thing happens to others besides Muslims. Sikhs and Christians also suffer at the hands of Hindu fanatics, but those people aren't victims, are they?

Non-humans don't make reports, they just spread gossip.

There are no cattle drives on Hindu ranches. The cows don't drive anything. They have chauffeurs.

A curious cultural turnabout, this ban on eating beef. In very ancient times (early second millennium BC) the Indo-European Aryan tribes that invaded northern India were, like all Indo-European peoples, a warrior-cum-cattle-based society. They kept huge cattle herds which constituted the tribe's collective wealth and they consumed vast quantities of beef every day at every sitting. The primary activity for warlike Indo-European men (which is to say, all Indo-European men) was cattle rustling, i.e. raiding and stealing cattle from the herds of neighboring tribes. This was a virtual sport for Indo-Europeans, but one with pronounced religious overtones. They rustled cattle with joy and gusto, it was considered a manly activity, and they wrote poems and songs about it and bragged about their exploits whilst feasting and drinking equally vast quantities of fermented beverages. Two great Indo-European epic poems, the Mahabharata and the Irish Táin Bó Cúailnge (trans. as "Cattle Raid at Cooley") are both based on cattle raids that escalated into big-scale wars which featured, in typical Indo-European fashion, duels between heroes in which combat was prefaced by the gloriously poetic recitations of great deeds of war, feats of daring, and noble lineages. The Iliad makes frequent mention of feasting, with beef as the main dish. The Sanskrit word for "war," "gavisti," means "a desire a for cattle." The Scots Highland clans collectively constituted a cattle-based warrior society which was fundamentally destroyed by the English in the 18th-19th centuries by a combination of English landlordism and the introduction of Merino sheep to the Highlands.

Indo-European peoples tended to be bigger and healthier than everyone else because of their diet of beef, greens, nuts. No grains: which caused bad and heart disease and stunted physical growth.

Somehow this notion of cattle as both a source of wealth and as sustenance got turned around, over time, in Hindu cultures, to the point where the eating of beef became a sacrilege.

Hindu ranches are an endangered species, as it were. Most folks today prefer their Hindus free-range.

Interestingly, a Big Mac in Delhi, made with lamb/goat (fused) tastes just like a Big Mac in the states.

Beef is by far the best energy food. It strengthens men with both physical strength and spiritual strength. The nasty Hindoo spirits want their captives weakened, the better to devote themselves to yoga breathing exercise/ worship.

Unexpectedly, the yoga practitioners soon think of reasons to eliminate beef from all diets using a pretense that it would be a healthier lifestyle and not destroy the planet by cow fart.

Apparently, what they were doing (transporting cattle) was against the law where they picked up the "cargo", even so, death is a pretty tough penalty to pay for transporting cows.

Would it be reasonable to assume that none of the vigilantes will be identified?

If the good Lord did not wish us to consume beef, he would not have made cows taste so gosh darn GOOD!

Having a dog steak later this evening, then? Or a cat sandwich? How about a hamster cutlet? Inviting your friends over for roast horse?

Everything is permissable, not everything is beneficial. Or culturally appropriate.

Also, I believe it was the Holy Spirit who updated the rules, then brought Peter on board with a vision, thus opening doors for us Gentiles to join in with Christianity.

A few years ago, after flying into New Delhi, it was very late so we ordered room-service. The hamburgers were excellent and it was the first time we had one with an over-easy egg on it. The McDonald's did not have the lamb/goat version of the Big Mac since Hindu fanatics claimed (how would they know?) it was actually beef and so it was discontinued some time before we were there.
