I have been wondering (believe it or not) whether the leaping, screaming liberals masquerading as prime-time and late-night comedians have changed their tune since the election and inauguration. Used to be, their "comedy" consisted in large measure of ridiculing ideas they didn't understand, misrepresenting ideas they didn't like, and mocking and scorning people who held those ideas.
After getting their clocks cleaned on election day -- by the very people they had mocked and scorned for holding ideas the "comedians" ridiculed and misrepresented -- one might have thought the leaping, screaming liberal "comedians" would take a different approach now.
Apparently not.
I mean, they're supposed to be smarter than the average bear, right? Don't they know this is how they get more Trump?
She only apologized for the cancer guy (a guy who would probably die more quickly under Republican health carelessness). She did not apologize for the other, more robust Republican Nazis.
What Samantha Bee says is TBS's asset or liability. Their choice. Samantha Bee means less than nothing to me. Her only impact on me is that her sophomoric promos interupt the TBS shows I'm trying to watch. So are there enough "not me's" to keep her on the air? Like I said, that's TBS's call.
OTOH, Ritmo. What about this post brought you out of retirement? Samantha Bee seems a strange hill on which to die.
First of all, Kyle Coddington identifies as a man, probably because he has been male from birth (if not earlier).
Secondly, it's so very like progs to go off on some topic based on their biases and bigotry, without doing any particular in-depth analysis. Based on the progressive trolls who populate the Althouse commentators, I'm forced to conclude that Sam Bee will not learn from her embarrassment. She'll keep on making mistake after mistake, never worrying about what the truth of the matter is nor whom she hurts. That's who she is, that's how she rolls.
Third, I see that the producers of "Full Frontal" felt obligated to contribute to Kyle's GoFundMe page. I trust that they were generous (no fewer than seven digits to the left of the decimal point).
Fourth, there are numerous women I would not mind seeing "full frontal." Sam Bee is not among them.
I wasn't around (or at least I wasn't cognizant) during the Nazi era, but as I recall it from old movies, Nazis had hair that was cut short on the sides, which was a pretty standard fashion in the 1930's and '40's and even into the '50's. That fashion is less common today, but it isn't that unusual: For example, a lot of hipsters wear their hair that way (ignore the facial hair, if you can). So I don't think that this Bee person's sin was just that she mocked a man whose hair reflected his cancer treatment. It's that she mocked as Nazis people whose only sin was being conservative.
There is an American movie film of the Seventies I saw as a child that touched me so deeply, I weeped and rubbed my childhood nipples as my Mother boiled radishes in the kitchen. One of the movie's many lessons is that dying of disease can make one absolutely beautiful: I love you, big romantic American cancer! Entranced, I took to heart its biggest lesson, and adapted it as my own: "Fashion means never having to say you're sorry..."
So what is so wrong with the 'Nazi Hair'? It was sharp and stylish, with an eye for clean lines and the tantalizing hint of sadomasochistic brutality, and possibly fisting. My first sexual experience was with a magnificent blonde man with Nazi hair: it was at the Tiergarten Schönbrunn in Vienna, and what more could a ten-year-old boy hope for in a day than to see lions, elephants and be fucked in the ass behind the monkey cage by a handsome blonde Austrian with a stutter and nicotine-stained fingers...?
I remember the summer when I could -- finally! -- grow my very first Hitler moustache: SO many older men in the Vienna subways wanted me to suck their cock! Then, in August, some Frenchmen down by the Danube held me down and forcibly shaved me before fucking me in the ass and singing "The Internationale": it was exquisite! The Passion! I felt like Joan of Arc AND Jean Seberg...!
Hating Nazi Hair is the New Fascism, I am afraid. You can take away my scissors, but you can never take away my memory of Hans and the Zoo, and how perfect his fingernails were clipped as he tickled my pale prepubescent testicles....
The "Toothless Revolutionary" is an example of what I meant in point #2 of my 9:21 post. As Lincoln once said in regards to the Emancipation Proclamation, the Democrats will be opposed to it no matter what. The implication was that one could write them off in advance. Likewise, no matter what happens to Obamacare. if the Ryan and his fellow Congressional Republicans should miraculously find the perfect solution to healthcare, Mr. Toothless would insist that it's going to kill people. Evil. Republicans e-e-e-vil. So we need to discount Mr. Toothless ahead of time. He will never be part of the solution because he too much enjoys being part of the problem.
Reihan Salam said ... "Republicans have shown no interest in reversing Obama-era cuts in Medicare’s future growth. Indeed, one of the more remarkable things about Ryan’s American Health Care Act is that its insurance-market reforms might particularly disadvantage older adults in rural areas earning working- to lower-middle-class incomes. This is a pretty decent description of the swing voters who won Donald Trump the White House.
How can Paul Ryan and his allies send a more coherent message around the American Health Care Act? A good starting point would be to forget about cutting Obamacare’s taxes on households earning more than $200,000. It’s not that Republicans are opposed to cutting those taxes. It’s just that their priorities should lie elsewhere, namely in ensuring that vulnerable people don’t get screwed. If Ryan can’t get behind that message, his health care bill deserves to fail."
Yeah, but like any vile and condescending lefty, she just happened to be prepared for this "happenstance." And they preach to us about tolerance and inclusion.
Scott Walker is a corporatist shill who voted to withdraw support for kids while voting to publicly fund millions toward a pavilion devoted to promoting unhealthy eating.

There's no arguing sense with delusional denialists. And there's really no point in any sensitivity to their lack of a sense of humor. They parody themselves and are too unethical to bother with worrying about their feelings.
After all, they're trying to kill people. Literally. That's what they were told at their town halls.
But hey. They've got an employer to worry about. And it ain't the voter.
Either way, they get to keep their primo congressional public health care plan.
They don't care about anyone and are just in it for themselves.

Walker doesn't cow-tow to Trump. You should admire him for that.
That's what normal human beings call "having a spine." He doesn't get extra points for that, no matter how common the condition of spinelessness is in his party.
And he only does that because Trump badmouthed him anyway.
Republicans aren't capable of criticism. They just know who's mean to them and who gives them candy. This is clear when you realize that the only Republicans who are honest about how horrible Trump is (or even approach it) are those whom Trump has blasted with his cannon-fire trademark insults.
Being a Republican is apparently all about keeping your feelings from getting hurt, apparently.
If it was possible, which sadly it is not, I wonder how many Americans would prefer to go back to the system they had before Obamacare. I know I would, and all my employees would too. I'd love to have my plan and my doctor back, both of which I lost after over a decade of great care. I knew people who were homeless and destitute back then who still got great care, sometimes lifesaving at no cost. Now, even employed people with decent incomes are constantly complaining about poor access and virtually useless insurance. I pay 60% of their premiums just to hear them bitch about how it sucks. Some actually blame me, and all I can say is: "I didn't vote for Obama, did you?" The sad truth is that Obamacare screwed up the healthcare market so bad that it's now impossible to fix it without pain. All those billions of dollars and years of time wasted. Once again the Democrats blame others for their failure. It's pretty much an identifying feature of the species. As the lightworker once said: "So after they drove the car into the ditch, made it as difficult as possible for us to pull it back, now they want the keys back. No! You can’t drive! We don’t want to have to go back into the ditch! We just got the car out!" Word!
Likewise, no matter what happens to Obamacare. if the Ryan and his fellow Congressional Republicans should miraculously find the perfect solution to healthcare, Mr. Toothless would insist that it's going to kill people.
The only "plans" they came up with so far DO kill more people. That is why they are opposed by every medical and hospital association.
They also cost the payor and country a hell of a lot more. Which is why their sponsors are in a rush to make sure they are voted on before being vetted by the CBO.
Which is why Spiceman was sent out with talking points to pre-emptively bash the CBO.
Facts. Things that Republicans like Big Mike hates. Almost as much as he hates his fellow Americans and the responsibility of shouldering a sane burden.
This is nonsense, of course. Obamacare did not affect most peoples insurance.
And demonstrable, provable nonsense, at that.
But Bags is a true believer. Feelings over fact. Rhetoric over reality.
It's all about the feelingses. Muh feelings. And he's supporting a guy with so many feelings that he won't even allow you to say his inauguration was something other than the awesomest ever. Even repeats this when meeting with other world leaders.
"The only "plans" they came up with so far DO kill more people. That is why they are opposed by every medical and hospital association"
The same people who told us we could keep our doctors and plans and get a $2500 reduction in premiums. If you get scammed (and lied to) by people, and then believe them again on the same subject, you are an incredibly stupid sucker. The whole program was designed to push back the negatives until after 2016. They even screwed up that piece of incredibly cynical and cruel central planning. It's already a disaster, but now the real failure is baked in to begin. No matter what happens now, the current administration will be blamed, AS PLANNED. Suckerrrrrrrs.
Karma police Arrest this girl Her Hitler hairdo Is making me feel ill And we have crashed her party This is what you'll get This is what you'll get This is what you'll get When you mess with us
Hey, give the Nazis their due. Sure, the murder of innocent people was uncool, but without the Nazis the unimaginative, hyperbolic and ill-informed wouldn't have a shovel-ready insult to hurl at those who see things differently than they do.
The whole Nazi thing serves a similar rhetorical function as the Appollo project:
"Goddamn ... If we can put a man on the Moon, why can't we ... [insert petty gripe here]
The same people who told us we could keep our doctors and plans and get a $2500 reduction in premiums.
Only a stupid incompetent with no understanding of his employees' health insurance would actually believe that Obama asserted that he would prevent insurance companies, the same insurance companies that have always had "gatekeepers" and preferred providers, from ever changing their plans again.
"This is nonsense, of course. Obamacare did not affect most peoples insurance. "
Bullshit! As someone who pays for and manages the healthcare of dozens of families, this is total crap. Every single employee of mine had access to great insurance. Now none do. Everyone is unhappy with it. Every. Single. One. I talk to healthcare insurance experts almost daily, and they are unanimous about it. They apologize for the bad options they have to offer knowing full well it is not their fault. They are simply embarrassed to have to try and sell what is obvious crap. The misery out here is very real with real victims staying sick becuase they don't want to, or can't effectively, use the new inaccessible crapfest. You can't find a decent doctor, and if you do it takes weeks. And you pay much more for this?

Behold, the rant above. Provided by a lunatic and bad rhetorician/demagogue with an allergy to FACTS.
Visual graphics for him and all his fellow dyslexics, who just discovered and is still in love with his power to shout bullshit on the internet and who believes that screaming town hall attendees are manufactured.
CEOs should be better than propagandists. But maybe his product's no good and he's used to having to hype things and make shit up.

What obvious crap this is. The guy believes insurance salesmen before he'd believe physicians and hospitals.
Their entire payment system changed and now it's to keep people healthy and reimburse by outcomes, rather than by the number of tests ordered or interventions performed.
Only a fool believes that the latter is a better benchmark of quality than what a fucking insurance salesman told him.
Bags is a gullible fool. Or a liar. Either way, he's arguing for throwing 20 million off the insurance pool, and if he's for the new bill - removing the obvious income stream of making sure the young and healthy are incentivized to make sure the payments for the elderly and sick are there.
Don't listen to Bags. He cares about his money, not his country.
"Only a stupid incompetent with no understanding of his employees' health insurance...
Yes, I'm sure you understand it much better. You have internet, and you believe what you read. I only have first hand experience paying for and dealing with real people and their health insurance on a daily basis, along with having to explain what you people did to them and how the promises were simply lies, which you continue to spew.
You're devotion to Obamacare is noted but it's your comment that is nonsense, not Bagoh's. At the very least, everyone who pays for health insurance has been affected by Obamacare. Goodnight.
Yes, I'm sure you understand it much better. You have internet, and you believe what you read. I only have first hand experience paying for and dealing with real people and their health insurance on a daily basis, along with having to explain what you people did to them and how the promises were simply lies, which you continue to spew.
So because some disgruntled employees with perception problems and salesdorks with skewed incentives told you something, you believe they're being straight up, honest experts to you?
You tell me, Mr Healthcare Non-Expert: Would you rather pay for a diabetic to get glyburide, exenatide, an artificial pancreas, or to keep his HbgA1C (that's "glycated hemoglobin" to a lay fool like you) less than 7?
Go on. Which is the better reimbursement scheme? Paying for interventions and tests or paying for outcomes?
And you say you live in the real world. Did you know that marketing executives are not required to tell you the full and honest truth? Did you know that customers are not required to know what works best for them?
Either you do, and you know you're a bullshitting liar. Or you don't, which would make you an ignorant fool.
Of course, there's a guy out there, who knows a girl, who talked to some insurance salesmen, who talked to disgruntled employees, that saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night, and he wants to teach those people a thing or two.
New England Journal. In Massachusetts. Where the coverage is probably better and of better quality than any other state. Harvard Medical School. Brigham and Womens Hospital. Advances and research that's at the top of what goes.
But hey. Insurance salesmen and customers who are impressed with tests and procedures. Bags knows people. He knows a thing or two.
He doesn't need actual research to show what he knows. He don't need no New England journal.
Or what any doctor has to say. That's not his "bag."
"And you say you live in the real world. Did you know that marketing executives are not required to tell you the full and honest truth? Did you know that customers are not required to know what works best for them? "
They aren't the only ones.
"If you like your plan you can keep your plan."
Gruber, an architect of the federal healthcare law said last year that a "lack of transparency" and the "stupidity of the American voter" helped Congress approve ObamaCare."
I'm not going by anybody's words. I see the results for real people, their actual policies, real illness, real frustration and disappointment of real people. Somebody telling me that they read something else is not convincing.
How has your reliance on experts you read about on the internet worked out recently? Did Krugman convince you to sell? Did every single expert convince you that Hillary would be President? You keep buying that stuff. Like how you were telling us not so long ago how the Republicans were done for a generation. You know that stuff the experts told you about demographics.
Asked and answered, liar. You're really telling me that under RepublicanCare, insurance policies will NEVER be revised ever again?
What a fucking fool you are. Regularly revising policies is SOP, has been for decades. That will not change, ever. Any asshole who intimates that health care before Obama and after Trump will consist of unchangeable policies is a total liar. Such a person might as well tell you that health care procedures and practice will never change. Bags is apparently for 1950s medicine. What a douchebag.
I'm not going by anybody's words.
No shit. Especially not any doctors. They're the ones you're most interested in tuning out.
I see the results for real people, their actual policies, real illness, real frustration and disappointment of real people.
That's not "results." That's you listening to feelings and venting. Or what people who actually get PAID to TREAT people for a living call "subjective assessment."
Somebody telling me that they read something else is not convincing.
Lol. I never said that. I provided facts. You provided anecdotes and emotion.
You're an emotional, anti-fact guy. Just admit it. You like stories that make you sound important, and couldn't give a shit about any fact.
Whatever makes you feel like the white knight, Big Guy.
This is Baggy Panties' way of saying, "Not only do I hate facts, I declare that they don't exist. There is no such thing as objectivity. There are only stories, and what I hear. The practice of medicine should not be objective. Data is a ruse. I never went to medical school but really, really, desperately want to feel like a white knight riding in on a fancy horse in shining armor to save people and if just listening and regurgitating ventilation helps me achieve that aim then let's make OUTLAW MEDICINE and just replace it with the insurance industry."
Somebody telling me that they read something else is not convincing.
And someone telling me that their best friend's boyfriend's sister's uncle who knows a guy that's going with a girl who works for a company that sells insurance and passed out at 31 Flavors is even more unconvincing.
Not to get into a pissing contest with you Commander, but I think your understanding of the role of insurance AGENTS (not salesmen ... Or more accurately salespeople as many are women) is a bit lacking.
The agent is an intermediary between the carrier and the consumer. Generally speaking, the agent doesn't give advice regarding medical care or make any decisions about ho care is administered, etc. The agent offers a range of risk management products that have been constructed by the carrier to meet certain risk profiles, demographics, etc. I know you're an expert, but just to clarify, the agent doesn't offer the insurance products; the carrier does. The agent markets the products. The goal of the agent is to make the consumer happy as their primary bread and butter is renewal premiums.
Again, I know you are an expert, but I merely suggest your binary choice of:
"Who you gonna believe, a bunch of PhDs at Harvard or a goddamned fucking insurance salesman" is a bit strained.
Yes, Todd. There are decent insurance salespeople, I'm sure. There are probably even decent CEOs. Just not Bags. He's not one of them. Well, maybe he is, maybe he cares. Just not enough to figure out where the right information is.
"Who you gonna believe, a bunch of PhDs at Harvard or a goddamned fucking insurance salesman" is a bit strained.
PhDs? I realize hating knowledge is the big, important thing here and in the Trump-o-sphere generally. But how about MDs? The AMA and virtually every medical organization is against what the Republicans are up to. And they're the only ones with ethical and legal obligations to these patients. Or non-patients, as Baggy Panties would prefer to make of so many millions of them.
Republicanism has gone from hating knowledge to actually hating professionals. But I guess that's understandable, under the least professional president seen in the last hundred years.
First we have Bags, real-life entrepreneur extraordinaire -- a bona fide wealthmaker -- recently uprooted.
Then there's a Michael K, an accomplished surgeon - retired and yet too busy to stop working.
Then there's buwaya -- immigrant engineer stock -- who gives an unflinching opinion of California and California writ larger.
What do we know about R&B?
-- Unspecified degree in life sciences -- Lives in or lived in Philly -- Voted Sanders; hated Trump -- Gifted in written expression, but prone to over-espression.
I don't recall ever discussing President Trump in any manner - positive or negative - so I'm not sure why you mention him in your retort to my note. My comments didn't seem to have anything to do with Republicans or Whigs or any other political party.
Yes - I'm aware of the distinction between PhDs and MDs. I'm sure you are aware that a great deal of medical practice conducted by MDs is based upon scientific research conducted by PhDs. I see this first hand as I am a faculty member at an R1 institution in the Big Ten.
And let me know when chickelit's "talents" extend beyond:
Lying,
Using a fixation for chemistry to justify his hatred of life,
Using his fixation with social order to justify his hatred of humanity,
Oh, and puns!
Chickelit always was a cunt. But in the past, he was just a more childlike cunt. A family-friendly cunt! A seemingly simplistic cunt!
But over time, he revealed more and more of his nasty side. Again, he hates humanity, but craves whatever it is that substitutes for "closeness" online.
If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung Would you hear my voice come through the music Would you hold it near as it were your own?
If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung Would you hear my voice come through the music Would you hold it near as it were your own?
Who even knows what you're trying to say? Is this just a way of changing the subject? You've come to progressively hate me more and more over the years (apparently because I don't proclaim whatever wealth and status that you figure make your other "heroes" so admirable), declare your intention to censor, are as unforgiving as a MFer, and never stick to the point.
I hate to tell you this, but people actually care about ideas and arguments in cyberspace. AND, you're not as nice a person as you pretend to be. It's just a facade of self-control. You are not a forgiving person and you use arbitrary rules against people instead of actually trying to figure out intentions.
There are places where people care about community in cyberspace. I don't think Blogger is generally one of them. Is it? If it's showing "the real chicken" I'm not getting a very flattering picture.
You want me to stop debating healthcare and whether it's Nazi-like to let so many people die? Just say so. Why are you so obfuscatory?
If you want a band that's basically good for hallucinogen aficionados to follow around you could do better than their act.
Nowadays they don't even need a band. They just go out into the desert or some other retreat and listen to whatever music while creating crazy costumes.
Burning Man and all its permutations, for instance.
I guess if that's the way you derive less "enmity" from someone as indisposed to seeking to proclaim status and wealth as myself, then that's progress.
Have a good night, chicken. You didn't need to follow me here, you know?
But as long as you did, you should probably try to make the most of it. Vindictiveness never leads anywhere.
I just think it's strange. You have your blog, but posted here to, after a point on WI, berate me personally (by comparing me unfavorably to two people whose wealth and/or status you proclaim to surpass mine - as if that had anything to do with what we argued).
I just don't understand. I think you've come to hate me more and more over the years, assume I'm evil, what have you, and then can't help intertwining comments with mine now and then as if we'll suddenly come to understanding something better than before.
Yes, I have that disease too.
But hatred is corrosive. You seem to have this distrust of me. We all get carried away. I always give you second chances, but with you it seems like you're always looking for some point of no return where you can finally declare me to be the evil person you always wanted me to seem.
I just get passionate, is all. Nobody's perfect. I wish you would accept that, and accept that there are imperfections about you that I should be better about finding a way to accommodate also.
The internet isn't worth this shit, anyway. Life is short. Live and let live. Be a friend and don't assume the worst in someone if they're willing to show more than that.
"The internet isn't worth this shit, anyway. Life is short. Live and let live. Be a friend and don't assume the worst in someone if they're willing to show more than that."
This is your last paragraph. Go start at the top of the thread and read your posts. Reflect.
I think the republicans are serving up a shitty plan. It is garbage. It is "better" than Obamacare but it will still fail. The problem is the government is really bad at health care. It is far too complex for central planners to manage.
I was in the VA system. I know that the bureaucracy hates veterans, but I don't know why people expect they would be treated any better than vets. On a personal level they care. On an organizational level it takes 3 months to get an appointment and the hospitals are hours away.
Everything that comes out of D.C. Seems to be a subsidy to insurance companies. Expand Medicare to cover expenses over 100,000$ in a calendar year for everyone, vouchers to buy insurance for 65+, cover people with congenital issues and let the free market cover the rest.
The irony about "Nazi hair" is, hipsters and young urban liberals are the ones bringing it back into style. Really, ANTIFAs are sporting the Nazi hairstyle. Sometimes reality is stranger than fiction.
And the Ryan bill is fucking terrible. Let Obamacare die on its own and then simply permit a national market for health insurance that will do more to lower prices than any other idea passed by Congress to date.
Antifa is like ante-bellum, it is the time before they finaly break into full fascism, you know, sending thugs to opposition rallies to cause violence, government domination of corporations, collective ideology, "you can't break a stick when it's in a bundle/stronger together" thing. The full blown Nazi thing.
The left cannot refute the reality that Obama-Pelosi-Gruber-Krugman-Liar-Care is a disaster, so, the marching orders from on high and from the DNC and Comedy Central - are to say the GOP wants to kill everyone and they are all Nazis.
First, you are contradicting a key right wing talking point, that repealing Obamacare wouldn't be so bad because it doesn't really affect that many people.
Second, you are contradicting the facts. Since all the white papers in the world do not seem to have penetrated your skull I am including a link to the cartoon version.
ObamaCare is so bad, deep in their small liar-hearts, even progressives know it. That's why they are so excited to call it Trump-Care and off-load the Gruber-crap sandwich as soon as possible.
Not much difference between you and Toothless, is there ARM. Both of you start from the perspective that whatever the Republicans do will be e-e-e-vil. You're a touch more erudite about it, that's all.
I agree with you, AprilApple. I think the best strategy for the GOP is to let Obamacare die, see who's impacted and how, and use that information to make data-driven decisions. Enough ivory-tower theorizing! No need to make the same blunder that Pelosi and Reid and Obama made on 2010.
@ Bagoh ...Gruber, an architect of the federal healthcare law said last year that a "lack of transparency" and the "stupidity of the American voter" helped Congress approve ObamaCare."
If the big lie is a big progressive lie - the blind faithful dutifully stand by and lie, salute the lie, and prepare for battle for the big lie.
"AARP has done the math: a 55-year-old making $25,000 a year would end up paying $3,600 a year more for coverage [under GOPcare]; that rises to $8,400 for a 64-year-old making $15,000 a year. "
Agreed with Mr. D: An apology for offending is not an apology at all.
Here's a better one: On yesterday's show, we went for a cheap and easy laugh. In our laziness, we hurt someone and we are sincerely sorry for that. We ought to have known better, and we hope to learn from this and not be this cheap and ugly again.
Take it from someone who is retired, ARM, AARP's "math" was thoroughly bogus when it chose to support Obamacare back in the day. I'm not even going to bother reading whatever they're pushing these days. Fool me once and all that.
ARM, is there a point when you finally realize that you can no more repeal the laws of economics than you can repeal the laws of physics?
@MM: "We ought to have known better, and we hope to learn from this and not be this cheap and ugly again." Give those progs this much credit: at least they're honest enough to dispense with civility bullshit and not apologize for things they are not sorry for, not to say they "ought to" have known better when they believe they ought to be able to do anything they damn well please, not to hope to "learn" from something when they know perfectly well that denigration of the Other can be used strategically (while vilifying the Other when xe supposedly others something or other), and not to refrain from being "cheap and ugly" when they can perfectly well to decide for themselves when cheap and ugly works, and against whom.
I scrolled through your "cartoon version" link. It's deceptive propaganda through which you should be able to see. Receiving coverage through your job or government, or receiving a government subsidy masks the effect on cost. It doesn't make the effect go away. If you are an employer or federal taxpayer you've been negatively affected. If you are an employee, you have been negatively affected unless you believe your employer doesn't pass the additional cost on to you in one way or another.
Blessed are those who must buy their own coverage, for they show the full rotten effects of Obamacare without intermediary masking.
Even if the cartoon is correct rather than deceitful and that they represent only 3% of the market, what moral justification is there for singling them out to bear the cost of providing all the supposed good things about Obamacare? Tax the responsible premium payers? It doesn't have the same cache as tax the rich or tax the 1%. Justifying singling out a group for special deliberate discrimination for no other reason than it is "small" may be good politics, but it is morally ugly.
Still waiting for dutiful left-wing progressives like ARM and Balls to explain to us what Gruber meant when he said "lack of transparency" and the "stupidity of the American voter" helped Congress approve ObamaCare."
ARM: First, you are contradicting a key right wing talking point, that repealing Obamacare wouldn't be so bad because it doesn't really affect that many people.
You need to sit down and sort out the difference between "not that many people get their health insurance through the Obamacare exchanges", and "not that many people are affected by Obamacare".
The same confusion (or obfuscation) underlies the little cartoon "explanation" you linked.
@Katr, why not? It's not as though a worthless creature like Sam Bee rates much commentary. It's not as though Toothless has two or more digits in his IQ but sooner or later ARM was sure to come on to defend him, and pricking holes in that gasbag's ego and made-up or cherry-picked "facts" is always good for a laugh.
It would be nice to find out how many dollars the "Full Frontal" producers contributed to young Kyle's GoFundMe page. Probably loose pocket change for them. I rather doubt Sam Bee's alleged apology extended to making a contribution on her own behalf.
Samantha Bee forgot that in comedy you’re supposed to punch up, not down. Even if the guy she mocked on her show for his haircut didn’t have cancer, so what? He wasn’t anyone who was rich, famous or powerful – he was just a kid who went to a conference that someone captured on film. She picked on someone who to her was just a random nobody that she thought she could mock in a juvenile manner and get away with because he’d never be able to do anything about it. The fact that this innocent kid turned out to also be fighting cancer just further emphasizes that Samantha Bee in addition to being unfunny is a bully and a coward.
It is impossible to overstate the ignorance and arrogance of Toothless Revolutionary's comments on this thread.
Bagoh has it precisely right... The Democrats wanted to bend the cost curve to the right and thought that the HMO trick of narrow networks would do it. So they kicked doctors off plans by the thousands, all the while knowingly lying to the American people that they could keep their doctors. And then, when people like Bagoh or his employees notice that nobody in their neighborhood takes their insurance, libtard shits like Ritmo blame the patients.
"Republicans actively want people to die and are therefore Nazilike".
"Don't assume the worst in someone."
The existential vacuum created by Ritmo's lack of self awareness could suck a black hole into oblivion without even needing to belch afterwards.
Oh, I'm plenty aware of the fact that you don't have to assume that Republicans don't care if people live or die. Just watch those town hall meetings. People WILL die if 20 million who lacked insurance before (and that the Republicans did nothing about) are removed from the rolls. That's a basic fact. This fact is reported to said Republicans. And still they will work to put them into harm's way.
Somehow, you must know this. Putting your fingers in your ears doesn't make you self-aware, whoever you are.
Still waiting for dutiful left-wing progressives like ARM and Balls to explain to us what Gruber meant when he said "lack of transparency" and the "stupidity of the American voter" helped Congress approve ObamaCare."
No need to. Don't worry about that. There's an actual law, now. Discuss its provisions. Let us know how the Republican "smaller" bill is actually "better." Discuss the results. 20 million now actually have care. Go to the visual NYT links for the low-down on costs. These are all facts. You can worry about the propaganda, let the people who give a damn discuss the provisions. And let me know when you're ready to proclaim that 20 million with or without insurance IS an actual issue. If you don't care who's in the market, then there's nothing to even discuss in the first place. Either access and coverage for your fellow citizens matters to you or it doesn't, and if it doesn't, go tell it to the Big Money Oligarchs funding repeal efforts. I already know where they stand.
Bagoh has it precisely right... The Democrats wanted to bend the cost curve to the right and thought that the HMO trick of narrow networks would do it. So they kicked doctors off plans by the thousands, all the while knowingly lying to the American people that they could keep their doctors.
The extent of nefarious conspiracy you ascribe to a single wayward comment that no one who understands insurance would have ever taken literally is typical for your tribe of know-nothings. Obama was speaking to the fact that he wasn't making companies re-write plans to restrict doctor choice, and only a disingenuous or completely ignorant liar would think that he was saying that he could suddenly KEEP insurance companies from restricting provider access any more than he and you guys couldn't keep them from restricting that access before.
"This is nonsense, of course. Obamacare did not affect most peoples insurance. "
ARM, you must be a retard. Obamacare's objectives was to find a way to insure the alleged 30-40 million who did not have insurance. To do that. your fellow retards, the Democrats constructed a ridiculously complex 2.000 page bill that fucked with the insurance of the rest of us [280 or so million people].
AJ A statist ARM looks upon that as a feature not a failure. If you cannot come upon empathy for the other on your own you must be forced to empathise whether you can personally afford it or not. The plus for the statists like ARM is that the added expense and thus the ensuing poverty is cause to involve you even deeper in the machinations of the state. You exist to serve the state. Get used to it.

That's stage 4 shame.
What is a Samantha Bee and why should I care?
What?! It takes something like this for liberals to notice that Bee's a stage 4 asshole?
She is just one smug & nasty piece of work who thinks that insulting people who happen to disagree with her politics is comedy.
Also, apparently not.
Full frontal stupidity.
I think it was a man, not a woman with stage 4 cancer.
Man. It was a man with stage 4 cancer.
http://outsetmagazine.com/2017/03/09/samantha-bee-mocks-contributor-with-cancer-for-nazi-hair/
She only apologized for the cancer guy (a guy who would probably die more quickly under Republican health carelessness). She did not apologize for the other, more robust Republican Nazis.
Samantha Bee should hook up with John Oliver and they can live happily ever after at the bottom of the ocean. For all we'd know.
What is a Samantha Bee and why should I care?
Because she makes enough to be a favored donor with special benefits to your political party and you don't.
Charming. Glad I only vaguely know who she is.
Samantha Bee should hook up with John Oliver and they can live happily ever after at the bottom of the ocean. For all we'd know.
Which is saying a lot, given how little Republicans like Darrell know.
Nazi hair is not clever and so is pointless.
Nobody cares if the lady has cancer. That's a make-believe offense.
It's the same stupid remark applied to anybody.
Nazi hair is not clever and so is pointless.
But still true. And therefore, hilarious!
The "humor" seems to be centered around the word "fuck". Really hilarious.
Which non-military National Socialists had short hair? Crewcut or similar.
I looked at pics of a few of the leaders at random just now didn't find any.
So besides being an asshole, she is historically ignorant.
Unless she has some particular National Socialists in mind?
John Henry
Republicans are rearing to pass a health careless bill that will kill people.
Nazis were also for killing those they perceived as weak.
Republicans believe people in poverty should die due to lack of health care.
Fact.
But hey! They're repealing a tax on health care execs "earning" in excess of $500,000 annually!
Suck up to the powerful, kick down to the downtrodden.
Just like the Nazis. Only with less efficient methods.
Insensitivity to a member of a victim class - Unacceptable. Must apologize.
Slander. Fomenting hate and division - Clever and funny!
Better nazi hair than a stupid cunt.
Brain cancer's something Samantha Bee doesn't have to worry about.
By the way, Samantha wears hooker hair.
OTOH, Ritmo. What about this post brought you out of retirement? Samantha Bee seems a strange hill on which to die.
Just a week away. But better to speak out now on that than staying on a hill for a bill to kill poor people on.
How is seeking the death of poor people not Nazi-like? Just because it's not racial?
"I think it was a man, not a woman with stage 4 cancer."
You're right.
Corrected.
Thanks.
Rhythmic Ballsucker is hilarious like Samantha Bee and John Oliver. You can join them on the ocean floor.
Put that cigarette a little further into your mouth. Actually, turn it around and swallow the ash and fumes you're spewing onto everyone else.
@Bob Boyd, amen to that.
Ritmo, Ritmo, Ritmo.
Where oh where was the Republican health insurance bill referenced in Althouse's post or her link?
Humlaut LeBlanc Fashion Icon of Fabulous...
I am Humlaut LeBlanc, and I Believe in Fabulous…
I am Laslo.
I think in the part where she appeared perplexed as to why people would think of them as Nazis.
Oh look, no comments allowed at the NYT for this piece. I'm shocked, shocked! Well, not that shocked...
Samantha Bee just made a terrible first impression on a lot of people. It'll bee hard to walk* that one back, even with an apology

Calling people Nazis is so funny and original.
Ritmo,
In that case you are wrong. Try again.
Why don't you try to defend killing people in a more creative way?
Scott Walker's diet is abnormal, bizarre, and would kill anyone with normal gastric physiology, let alone a sense of taste.
Let's hope it kills him soon.
Is there anything more lame than calling someone a NAZI in 2017? You cats dig what I'm laying down, daddy-o? 23-skidoo.
His ethics are as sick as his eating habits.

Every thread needs a blah blah blah post.
This is the one that blathers about problems and solutions while forswearing blind loyalty to congress critters who want to throw 20 million off health care because of a problem with 3% of the insurance market.
Like the Nazis. Only with less honesty.
I think Scott Walker has been a wonderful governor for Wisconsin. R&B, you shouldn't be such a knee-jerk hate-monger.
Walker doesn't cow-tow to Trump. You should admire him for that.
There's no arguing sense with delusional denialists. And there's really no point in any sensitivity to their lack of a sense of humor. They parody themselves and are too unethical to bother with worrying about their feelings.
No sir, there is not. [chuckle]

One day Big Mike will get that the Republicans are only in it for themselves.... and their big money donors and special interests.
Nahhhh! He won't!
Hell will freeze over first.
Clearly a guy that Bags can relate to.
Trump is such a micro-manager that he won't even let his hires hire their own staff, without his express approval of each and every pick.
This is a guy who couldn't run an ice cream stand. Watches 6 hours of tv a day. Who has time for that? Even when not in charge of running the country?
He is as toxic to competence and talent as a cockroach is to clean living.
One day Big Mike will get that the Republicans are only in it for themselves.... and their big money donors and special interests.
As though Democrats of the 21st century are any different. Jack Kennedy has been dead for a while; did you miss the news?
Hey, Toothless. How much money did the Clinton Foundation raise for Haitian relief, and how much was spent in Haiti?
The Clintons refute your thesis, just by breathing.
George Orwell had "Nazi hair", so what does that do to her theory?
I always loved this lyric and awesome video.
Karma Police
Karma police
Arrest this girl
Her Hitler hairdo
Is making me feel ill
And we have crashed her party
This is what you'll get
This is what you'll get
This is what you'll get
When you mess with us
Hey, give the Nazis their due.
[insert petty gripe here]
There goes Big Mike, with the Big Stupid Comeback of "Whatever Clinton did, Trump gets to do even worse!"
Yep. That's a real grown-up argument, there.

They apologize for the bad options they have to offer knowing full well it is not their fault. They are simply embarrassed to have to try and sell what is obvious crap.
ARM @10:33,
You're devotion to Obamacare is noted but it's your comment that is nonsense, not Bagoh's. At the very least, everyone who pays for health insurance has been affected by Obamacare. Goodnight.
Ritmo likes to say he's right becuase he read it on the internet. He still thinks Trump will never be President for the same reason.
I propose the Bee amendment to Godwin's Law: Save time, start with Hitler.
Ritmo likes to say he's right becuase he read it on the internet.
So says a guy who believes whatever a salesperson or a disgruntled employee tells him.
An insurance salesperson, at that!
You must be a big believer in the honesty of used car salespeople also, I take it.
If you study up on history you'll learn that Hitler was actually sort of a milquetoast fop compared to Stalin.
Stalin ... Now there was a guy who could get 'er done ... As they say.
I must also point out that I take offense to the characterization of insurance salesmen being presented by Mr. Toothless Crankshaft.
My dear father ... One of the sweetest men who ever lived, much loved a respected by his clients ... Sold insurance for 40 years.
He was pretty popular when people wrecked their cars or when their husband died unexpectedly.
Your attitude is shockingly elitist, Mr. Crankshaft.
Check out what The New England Journal of Medicine saw fit to publish earlier this year.
Awwww... how sweet Todd.
I'll take what doctors have to say about evaluating the quality of coverage/care over what an insurance salesman has to say about it, any day.
Most people would.
If you hate elitism then go to a witch doctor for your care. You know, they're out there.
Are they going to reimbursed for their care, under the Republican plan?
Hey, Sharon Angle was a big believer in bartering chickens to get the country doctor to visit.
These Republicans... they know things. Important things. And they're going to do things. Big, important things.
"If you like your plan you can keep your plan."
Read the thread, dude. You are the most emotional one in here, as usual.
Somebody telling me that they read something else is not convincing.
And someone telling me that their best friend's boyfriend's sister's uncle who knows a guy that's going with a girl who works for a company that sells insurance and passed out at 31 Flavors is even more unconvincing.
Tool.
Read the thread, dude. You are the most emotional one in here, as usual.
Well whatever your replacing any interest in facts and objectivity is, is certainly not rational.
If medicine and its practitioners and experts are so inconsequential to you, why not go 1650s style and prescribe leeches to your employees?
Whose perception is running the show? Obviously it has to be someone's when you've declared all facts and any expertise to be wrong.
Just give 'em leeches. It used to work charms. At least, that was the perception.
Before they started measuring this stuff and actually looking at outcomes.
I'm so emotional? You're about as far from rational as they come.
All of Ritmo's nemeses have the upper hand.
-- Unspecified degree in life sciences
-- Lives in or lived in Philly
-- Voted Sanders; hated Trump
-- Gifted in written expression, but prone to over-espression.
Anything else?
Dear Toothless -
I don't recall ever discussing President Trump in any manner - positive or negative - so I'm not sure why you mention him in your retort to my note.
But thanks for the clarification.
Dear Chicken Poop:
Go back to your own blog and provide cover for your violent immigrant friends over there.
If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine
And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung
Would you hear my voice come through the music
Would you hold it near as it were your own?
You who choose to lead must follow
But if you fall you fall alone
If you should stand then who's to guide you?
If I knew the way I would take you home
If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine
And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung
Would you hear my voice come through the music
Would you hold it near as it were your own?
The Grateful Dead were always over-rated.
If you want a band that's basically good for hallucinogen aficionados to follow around you could do better than their act.
Nowadays they don't even need a band. They just go out into the desert or some other retreat and listen to whatever music while creating crazy costumes.
Burning Man and all its permutations, for instance.
So breaking into songs sung by hallucinogen aficionados is the way you make your point?
After all you've done, there are less self-righteous ways to come to terms with everything.
The Toothless Revolutionary said...So breaking into songs sung by hallucinogen aficionados is the way you make your point?
It's my way of riffing on Zabriskie Point.
Oh good.
Sometimes you baffle me.
You didn't need to follow me here, you know?
I didn't "follow you here." I came here, ca. 2005. If you were here then
(as MUL), then I found you here.
Yes, I know that literal explanation.
"Republicans actively want people to die and are therefore Nazilike".
"Don't assume the worst in someone."
The existential vacuum created by Ritmo's lack of self awareness could suck a black hole into oblivion without even needing to belch afterwards.

The "humor" seems to be centered around the word "fuck". Really hilarious.
All so-called humor does these days. I don't get it.
The irony about "Nazi hair" is, hipsters and young urban liberals are the ones bringing it back into style. Really, ANTIFAs are sporting the Nazi hairstyle. Sometimes reality is stranger than fiction.
Richard Spencer is a style icon!
"Apologizing for offending" is not really an apology.
Samantha Bee should hook up with John Oliver and they can live happily ever after at the bottom of the ocean. For all we'd know.
They're both from the Daily Show, so them being smug assholes shouldn't be a shock
Leftist prog = Nazi brain.
Republicans are rearing to pass a health careless bill that will kill people.
Oh that's new, balls.
Balls gets is brain waves and talking points from Colbert.
The left cannot refute the reality that Obama-Pelosi-Gruber-Krugman-Liar-Care is a disaster, so, the marching orders from on high and from the DNC and Comedy Central - are to say the GOP wants to kill everyone and they are all Nazis.
A refreshing line of attack.

Bullshit!
Let's get some facts to go with that bullshit.
First, you are contradicting a key right wing talking point, that repealing Obamacare wouldn't be so bad because it doesn't really affect that many people.
Second, you are contradicting the facts. Since all the white papers in the world do not seem to have penetrated your skull I am including a link to the cartoon version.
No he isn't, ARM - you disingenuous tool.
Repeal Gruber Care or let it die.
You seem to have this distrust of me.
False. We trust you to be as you've always been. The two D's — disgusting and dismissable.

Are there five sadder words in the English language?
Progressives hate the free market. Even though the free market is what makes our lives easier, accessible, and affordable in countless ways.
AARP - do they hire Gruber to do their maff? I would not trust the DNC-AARP to clean the squirrel cage.
Any math from the AARP on the real and criminal hurt ObamaCare placed on most Americans?
Take it from someone who is retired, ARM, AARP's "math" was thoroughly bogus when it chose to support Obamacare back in the day. I'm not even going to bother reading whatever they're pushing these days. Fool me once and all that.
ARM, is there a point when you finally realize that you can no more repeal the laws of economics than you can repeal the laws of physics?
Did not the AARP stand behind the outright lies used to pass Obamacare? Yes they did. But ARM has DNC talking points to put out, just like the AARP.
AHCA Depletes Medicare Trust Fund Faster
Good Morning ARM,
I scrolled through your "cartoon version" link.
"talking pints memo" is leftwing shit.
'talking pints memo' is leftwing shit.'
Sounds more like pub boasting
Still waiting for dutiful left-wing progressives like ARM and Balls to explain to us what Gruber meant when he said "lack of transparency" and the "stupidity of the American voter" helped Congress approve ObamaCare."
*crickets*
Apparently we're to believe it's fine to call conservatives nazis as long as they don't have cancer.
This is what sunsong means when she says she supports love.
Whoa. @The Toothless Revolutionary hijacked this entire thread. And you guys let him.
Employer-based insurance: effect of ACA repeal.
Re: Samantha Bee. She didn't know the guy has cancer, and his haircut looks like something a young man might have.
Over reaction.
It would be nice to find out how many dollars the "Full Frontal" producers contributed to young Kyle's GoFundMe page.
It's reported as 1,000.
So it's OK to be a Nazi as long as you have cancer? (The Nazi War On Cancer is worth the read.)

Yes, sigh. It's easy to skip the original posts but harder to skip the responses.
Speaking of Obamacare coverage...
"$52,000: Average cost for acute trauma care of of gunshot victims, 70 percent of whom are uninsured"
@Rick, as I said, loose change for a TV producer. In fact I'd have called it "pocket change" if it was ten or twenty times that.
@Thorley, punching up takes some degree of courage.
You seem to have this distrust of me.
False. We trust you to be as you've always been. The two D's — disgusting and dismissable.
Yeah, that's what they said to your mother.
Whoa. @The Toothless Revolutionary hijacked this entire thread. And you guys let him.
It's called: "I could defend my stance and they couldn't defend theirs. But they attacked me anyway."
You Sir are a liar.
AJ
A statist ARM looks upon that as a feature not a failure.
