Tim Kaine's son was arrested "on suspicion of second-degree riot at the 'March 4 Trump' rally in St. Paul."

March 4 Trump? March for Trump? Was Linwood Michael Kaine, 24, for Trump? No. There was a clash between pro- and anti-Trumpers.

The mug shot certainly looks like someone smarmy Tim Kaine would raise. He was with a group of young adults who were illegally setting off firecrackers and when he was apprehended he added resisting arrest to the charges. Twenty months until Tim Kaine goes down!

To be fair, lots of parents have one or more kids that "go off the rails"...

But it is fun to watch the "elite politicians" deal with the issue. Tim seems to have written off poor Woody.

I guess his kid didn't fall far from the tree.

There were clashes instigated by democrats all over the country. The democrat media, not interested in real news, they are too busy making up fake news.

I have noticed a slow down of fake Russian news since trump suggested he would now investigate them.

Indeed, you are correct. Almost all the wind went out of the sails the instant the leftist media had to start pushing the claim that no one in Obama's administration took the charges seriously enough to actually use electronic surveillance to investigate them. All of a sudden, no one could write stories using unnamed sources claiming the FBI had intercepts of communications supporting claims the Russians and Trump's campaign were working together. Funny how that happens.

The story reminds me of the time Al Gore's son was arrested for driving more than 100 mph in a Prius (who knew until then that a Prius could go so fast?). It turned out he also had a small amount of marijuana in the car and possibly in his system.

These offspring put the vice in vice president.

Combined action to interfere with or prevent free speech and free assembly activities qualifies as a violation of civil rights. But that has always been the Democrat heritage when it comes to civil rights.

Group A invites Speaker A to give a speech (Freedom of Speech).

Group B opposes Speaker A and wants to protest (Freedom of Speech)

Group B disrupts Speaker A's speech and prevents him from speaking (No Goddamn Freedom of Speech).

Will someone call me, if any member of Young Americans for Freedom or the American Legion or Opus Dei disrupts a speech by Noam Chomsky on a University campus?

Much obliged.

Left Bank,

What compels you to flog mitigating circumstances in this particular case. This was the twin cities in blue on blue Minnesota. If Berkeley cops couldn't bring themselves to arrest anyone in actual riots, he must have pissed someone off pretty well to get himself arrested in St. Paul.

In general, I think yours is the most solid case; that conservative protests are uniformly peaceful and civil, and leftist protests are frequently violent. Moreover, we both know about how the media treats the two examples differently.

But Trump and his crowd are less like standard conservative Republicans. So there are at least some (perhaps not a lot, but some) instances like this, largely unique to Trump rallies and Trump supporters (the infamous sucker-punch):

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/video/2016/mar/10/donald-trump-rally-black-man-sucker-punch-north-carolina-video

Or like this (another sucker-punch):
http://tucson.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/tucson-police-man-arrested-in-connection-with-punch-at-donald/article_d614bc6e-ee2d-11e5-9486-835bb82d934f.html

Or like a half-dozen other similar occurrences, involving non-violent protesters at Trump rallies (that seemed to be a real catalyst; black protesters at Trump rallies).

Then there is this little gem:

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-03-06/russian-hackers-said-to-seek-hush-money-from-liberal-u-s-groups

snip: "At least a dozen groups have faced extortion attempts since the U.S. presidential election, said the people, who provided broad outlines of the campaign. The ransom demands are accompanied by samples of sensitive data in the hackers’ possession.

In one case, a non-profit group and a prominent liberal donor discussed how to use grant money to cover some costs for anti-Trump protesters. The identities were not disclosed, and it’s unclear if the protesters were paid.

At least some groups have paid the ransoms even though there is little guarantee the documents won’t be made public anyway. Demands have ranged from about $30,000 to $150,000, payable in untraceable bitcoins, according to one of the people familiar with the probe."

Setting off fireworks at such a gathering presents "a clear and present danger of death or great bodily harm" to others". That threat allows any person to use any (Even deadly) level of force to immediately stop such a threat as matter of the right of self-defense and the moral duty to protect innocent others.

According to the Pioneer Press, young Kaine (age 24, by the way, and not a kid any more) clearly resisted arrest and is lucky he was not injured as a result of his actions:

An officer ordered a man, later identified as Linwood Kaine, to get on the ground. He refused, Linders said.

“The officer was able to get ahold of Mr. Kaine, but he got up, squared off with the officer and the officer tried to take him to the ground again,” Linders said Wednesday. Another officer arrived and sprayed a chemical irritant toward Kaine.

“He then was taken to the ground, but continued to resist, at which point another officer deployed a knee strike to get him to cooperate with the officers and put his hands behind his back,” Linders continued. “After the strike, Mr. Kaine cooperated and was taken into custody without further incident.”
