"I have tremendous feeling for the people involved in this horrific humanitarian crisis in Syria.... as President I will find ways to help all those who are suffering.""

As I just posted in the other thread; this is the new, improved, mainstream explanation for the action.

It is NOT anything like his "total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States..." trash talk from early in the campaign. We critics of Trump said that nothing like that ever would or ever could happen. This is more like it. Even noting the continuation of Obama-era policy:

We will keep it free and keep it safe, as the media knows, but refuses to say. My policy is similar to what President Obama did in 2011 when he banned visas for refugees from Iraq for six months. The seven countries named in the Executive Order are the same countries previously identified by the Obama administration as sources of terror. To be clear, this is not a Muslim ban, as the media is falsely reporting.

This is not about religion - this is about terror and keeping our country safe. There are over 40 different countries worldwide that are majority Muslim that are not affected by this order. We will again be issuing visas to all countries once we are sure we have reviewed and implemented the most secure policies over the next 90 days."

Take your shame show somewhere else. It isn't true and it isn't working.

OTOH, that will just empower the RINOs (like Paul Ryan) that Bannon is known to dislike. Presumably true cons wouldn't want to do that.

OTOOH, maybe it's best to just sit back and whine about libs. Why worry about how the sausage is made: left to themselves the Rs will do the right thing. So, what's that you say about the evil libs?

Since the day Trump announced he was running, Chuck has had a stunning run of accurate predictions about how things were going to play out, keen and subtle insights into what Trump supporters thought, and, after having seen his early, middle, and late forecasts crowned with glory on election day, he finds his analyses of Trump's bad judgment and wrong moves continuing to be vindicated at every turn.

All that I wanted to say was that when Trump called for a total and complete shutdown on Muslims entering the United States, he was full of shit. We were right to call that out as bullshit, and the weekend's events proved us right.

I have to call Bullshit. The order bars the entry of any refugee who is awaiting resettlement in the U.S. for 120 days. It also prohibits all Syrian refugees from entering the U.S. until further notice. Additionally, it bans the citizens of seven majority-Muslim countries—Iraq, Iran, Syria, Somalia, Sudan, Libya, and Yemen, identified by The Obama Administration as sponsors of terrorism from entering the U.S. on any visa category.

There was and is no "shut down" of Muslims entering the US. Tens of thousands from majority-Muslim countries arrived and cleared customs as usual; Saudis, Malaysians, Indians, Pakistanis, etc. Flipping around the TV news I saw them with my own eyes, including the Iraqi translator who was detained and released who said he liked Trump, much to the dismay of the Dem Pols clustered around him. Some news orgas edited out his comment before airing the clip on TV. Sad!

The weekend's events prove that if the Left wants more Trump, this is way the left will get more Trump.

" I don't doubt that many folks are doin' some math, like: throw overboard American values that don't seem to effect me,"

The math they'e doing might involve the fact that even as the addled ninnies of the Left screamed and postured about the wonderfulness of Muslim refugees, two Muslims shot up a mosque in Quebec(one they deemed "apostate"). Yes, Trudeau, invite more refugees in, that's an intelligent move, Justin.

The math also might include the fact the left wing hordes who show up with signs to shriek about Trump at a moment's notice look like crazed brats to any normal person and only make us Trump voters happier about our votes.

You're rich PB. Invite some refugees to come live with you if you're so concerned about them.

Trump is losing control of the narrative on this one. It could have used more preparation and explanation at the outset. And more collaboration with Republican members of Congress.

Renee: They chose to stay in Syria for the holidays?

Yeah, though professional do-gooders might find that one easier to explain away in comparison to "refugees" who regularly pop back to the home countries in which they are allegedly in grave danger. (Hell, Minneapolis even subsidizes their jaunts back to AllegedDangerstan.)

If all those virtue-signalling "compassionate" people out there want America to accept refugees, maybe they shouldn't have allowed our refugee program to be turned into a massive racket. Turns out even kindly generous people don't like being taken advantage of by racketeers.
