"Trump’s win has made the rest of the world more self-righteous, especially here in Pakistan, especially among men."

"He is the final proof, if any proof were needed, that a man can have it all, that a man can be all the man he wants to be — a billionaire and a porn star in his own life’s movie — and still make people love him and trust him with their future."

Wrote Mohammed Hanif in a November 11th NYT op-ed titled "After Trump, Fear and Gloating in Pakistan."

Slow news day in Pakistan? Such silly stuff.

If I wrote about the Pakistani people and their president in such a simple minded and hostile way, I would be accused of racism.

Sorry, but I don't see rejecting Hillary as "hating powerful women" in general.

Message fail.

And the top Muslim Taliban men across the northern side of the Kush practice Pizzagate skills with teenage boys as a customary privilege Obama protects. Hmmm?

Cross out Pakistan and write:

Oh jeez, "fear and loathing" in the first sentence. If I were Mao, anyone writing that hoary old cliché would be sent to a reeducation camp to learn how to dig ditches.

It was hard to distill a point from that op-ed. I think this is the closest he comes:

Those here who gloat over the Trump win are basically saying that those previous American presidents weren’t that different. They’d put their arm around your shoulder and walk beside you for a bit, and then they’d stab you in the back. Trump kicks you while spitting on your face with a crowd cheering on.

So, basically, compared to prior presidents he believes Trump to be more honest and upfront and expects him to do things that would make him as bad as as Obama, et al?

So. the WHOLE world has become more self-righteous because of Trump's election (but especially Pakis and men)? Wow. Is there any neurosis for which Trump is not responsible?

The beauty about doing a column is, you don't need to make sense.

He is accusing Trump of leading from the front, which men everywhere still recognize as an honest male trait, Taqiyya being the exception as Hussein Obama proved so well.

bgates said...

Makes sense - there's only so much self-righteousness to go around, and for the last eight years it's been hoarded by America's President-reject and his supporters.

Do men (not faux ala dylan)scare the sh*t out of you or is it a control thing.

Interestingly, Trump seems to be making his splash in Foreign Policy which everyone is begging him to leave alone while he focuses on domestic Policy.

But then, Napoleon did his best work outside of France.

I eagerly await the NYTimes oped from a practicing Fiji Islands cannibal about how Trump's victory has elevated their status.

"The late Benazir Bhutto was indeed the first woman to be elected as prime minister of a Muslim country. But we seem to have forgotten the ugly campaign against her, the sexual innuendoes and the doctored pictures — all this before Photoshop and social media. And let’s not forget that we managed to assassinate her 70 days after really, seriously, trying to kill her. We have also not even gotten around to finding out who killed her. And, as any working politician will remind you, her legacy doesn’t get you very many votes."

I was wondering if he'd forgotten about all that. Apparently not.

If he really lives in Karachi, he had best watch his silly little NYT-published ass. Media critics in that part of the world use machetes.

The NYT has proven to less than honest/fair in its reporting, and Trump's image as portrayed in the NYT and much of the media is creating some problems I guess.

Too bad these people have a keyboard that requires no concept of reality to use.

I think in the quoted lines he's saying that Donald Trump is the ideal Pakistani man and politician. "that a man can have it all, that a man can be all the man he wants to be" "and still make people love him and trust him with their future."

Does he have a beachfront estate in Hawaii? A private island? How very Green.

A billionaire, yes. A porn star, he did expose the liberal subculture. It's an inhospitable place to women, children, and babies, too.

No Clint, I meant the other doofus, Trump.

wildswan said...

I think he's saying that Trump is very comprehensible to Islamic men - Trump is a man who wanted and got wealth, beautiful women, children and, now, power. But this makes Islamic liberals hate him. And he seems to think that Trump is a despot like those despots that America the Ugly has supported around the world. Now America gets a Pakistani despot. And serves her right.

The NYT naturally regards this as very insightful. WTW
