"The intel on this wasn’t 100 percent," but he had the "impression something nefarious was happening."
He "just wanted to do some good and went about it the wrong way."

I am not sure how our country will manage with large portions of the right wing, both the rubes and the leadership, believing all these crazy conspiracy theories. Michael Flynn and his idiot kid have both been speculating about Clinton child sex rumors, and of course Trump lied about millions of illegal voters. Of course, Hillary and Podesta aren't running a child sex trafficking ring out of a pizza place. Yet the right wing eats this stuff up.
This is such a dumb conspiracy. Most of the people I see going with it were Sanders supporters who came over to Trump.
..as he investigated false claims...
And we know the claims are false how?
I mean, I assume they are false, they sound entirely implausible to me, and rather nutty too. But where, exactly, have they been proven false?
@David
The same way our country manages with large portions of the left wing, both the rubes and the leadership, believing all these crazy conspiracy theories.
How sad that so many embrace the Leftist idea that "only intentions matter." Hey, his heart was in the right place, he was trying to do good, his concern was for the children, so even if he maybe took things too far/went a bit astray we really shouldn't judge him too harshly. That's the ethos, right?
"Bush did 9/11" - Van Jones, CNN
“The intel on this wasn’t 100 percent,” he said. However, he refused to dismiss outright the claims in the online articles, conceding only that there were no children “inside that dwelling.” He also said that child slavery was a worldwide phenomenon.
He sounds like a paranoid psychotic to me. Sometimes they sound very rational until you get into their delusions.
No mention at all that the owner of Comet Ping Pong was a big dem backer, and hosted dem fundraisers (through Podesta) at the restaurant. Dishonest reporting does not increase people's trust of the media.
i hope we wont start listing left/right 'conspiracies because it wont be much of a contest.. the volume, scope and absurdity of the conspiracies on the right pushed by 'conservative' radio and web sites is mind boggling..
You spend a lot of time reading conservative websites and listening to conservative radio, GWash?
They want people to believe that human life evolves from conception. They want to deny women the rite to abort life unworthy of life or that is judged an inconvenience to their lifestyle. They want to deny the incentive for clinical cannibalism by Planned Parenthood et al.
They want to deny transgender couplets equal treatment. They want to enforce selective exclusion ("=") of people based on their orientation, behavior, and grouping, sexual or platonic.
They want to throw granny off the cliff by redistributing funds from Medicare to Obamacare.
They are warmongers. They waged illegal wars against Syria, Libya, Egypt, Ukraine, Serbia, South Africa, etc. They commit mass abortion. They carried out social justice through forcible sodomy and other forms of torture.
They deny the liberated scientific domain where a consensus prophecies catastrophic anthropogenic global warming caused by overwhelming minor causes.
It wasn't rape-rape. Women, interns, and babies, too, are not sacrificed for political progress.
GWash: Oh, please, lets.
I'll begin: "No blood for oil" and "there were no WMDs found in Iraq."
Your turn.
(BTW, I'm snarking. I don't have the time at the moment to compare conspiracies.)
If he had of pulled this shit in TEXAS, some person with a CHL/LTC would have SHOT HIM DEAD.
And he 100 percent would have deserved it.

Yes and he knows what they post from Mother Jones description.
Plus he calls Rush Limbaugh and says he is a "life long Republican" but no more.
Are those the right talking points ?

Brilliantly stupid. More scary is large portions of the left and their leadership believing that large portions of the right wing, both the rubes and the leadership, believe any of these crazy conspiracy theories.
Next. Remember Ann in retirement the NYT is no longer required reading.Read some good books, golf, prune a lot of shrubs but please no more NYT reviews.

Of course all this depends on your definition of right wing. If you define right wing as the small fringe of Nazis, Klansmen, and others on the extreme right edge of of the spectrum, then it is probably true that they believe a lot of conspiracy theories, but it is also irrelevant, because they are irrelevant.
If you define right-wing as anyone who listens to Rush on occasion, or who voted for Trump as the lesser of two evils, they it is obviously false.
I am not sure how our country will manage with large portions of the right wing, both the rubes and the leadership, believing all these crazy conspiracy theories.
As opposed to the Left's sane conspiracy theories, like racist militias rampaging down the streets of Ann Arbor, Michigan?
He sounds a great deal like Sirhan Sirhan. Hypnotized, programmed, brainwashed, whatever term you favor.
By who? Well, cui bono?
Dr. Mike K: He sounds like a paranoid psychotic to me. Sometimes they sound very rational until you get into their delusions.
Excellent diagnosis of your typical dupe who voted for Daddy Trump. Give that man a white coat, stethoscope and head mirror.
Boing boing seems to love these bogus "voter suppression" stories.
"Massive scale" shut-down of polling places in districts known for suppressing black voters
http://boingboing.net/2016/11/07/massive-scale-shut-down-of.html
Back in 2004, boing boing editor Mark Frauenfelder wrote a long piece about black vans full of Republican operatives suppressing the black vote in Ohio. Totally bogus, unsourced, no evidence whatsoever. But they really were there! Probably!
You have to be a special sort of crazy to consider yourself both in the social vanguard AND in the majority.

Not to mention breathtaking!
Credit where credit is due - Gwash trolled me, and a few others here. I am so embarrassed, I am gonna head over to some lefty sites and return the favor by praising and defending Trumps cabinet selections.

Who in the world calls Trump "daddy Trump"? His own kids don't. I suppose Lefties with daddy issues use the term. I've never heard a Trump voter use it.

Make sure to say that America needs a strong man and successful businessman like Trump, and that he is going to make America Great Again!
He didn't vote for Trump, he didn't read about the sex ring on Breitbart, and he didn't kill anyone. Not quite ideal, but you have to work with what's available. This man deserves as much coverage as the last two Muslim terrorists.......He shouldn't be looked at as a weirdo, but rather as a harbinger of the dark night of terror that is falling on Trump's America.
This seems as good a time as any to excerpt that wonderful passage from Judge Boggs:
"[A]ny charge against MY SIDE requires exquisite legally admissible proof of its accuracy,
WHEREAS
Any charge against YOUR SIDE must be true if it was asserted by anyone, anywhere.
People on MY SIDE are responsible only for what they said personally, in full-quotation context.
BUT
People on YOUR SIDE are responsible for the inferred implications of anything said by anyone who ever held any idea vaguely similar to what your people think."
Another self-radicalized nut.
I can't remember when I first caught a whiff of this supposed scandal. Remembering the John Edwards matter and Watergate (I was originally very skeptical about both), I decided to read further. It seemed totally implausible. Somehow this guy found it worrisome and picked a bad way to express his concern.
But this guy is not in line to be the head of Homeland Security. Did General Flynn really pass these allegations on through social media, or was it just his son?
If Flynn really passed these thinly sourced allegations on, his name should not be placed in nomination.
The wackiest conspiracy theory is the Chemtrail conspiracy theory. They think that those jet contrails in the sky are actually chemical weapons sent to poison us.
And that one is the province of the Alex Jones/Ron Paul ultra-right-wing.

Insane.

And Russkies. Don't forget them Russkies. Oh, and Vast Right-Wing Conspiracies. Them things are insidious!
Delightful to watch the Left air their inner batshit.
sinz52:
"And that one [chemtrails theory] is the province of the Alex Jones/Ron Paul ultra-right-wing."
Interesting. I didn't know - the people I've encountered who truly believe in it are all angry left.
But what difference? The corporations are secretly poisoning us on vast scale, said the angry left-winger. No, the government is secretly poisoning us on vast scale, said the paranoid libertarian. Well, the government is corporate-owned, said the leftist dissenter; anyway, they've got their hands in each others' pockets, said the libertarian dissenter. Let's shake on it.
"Excellent diagnosis of your typical dupe who voted for Daddy Trump."
I didn't realize your were a leftist idiot. I will adjust my reading of comments accordingly.
You are now in Unknown/Inga category.
"Ron Paul ultra-right-wing."
Ron Paul is a bit on the crazy side but it is the extreme Libertarian, not "right wing."
"I am not sure how our country will manage with large portions of the right wing, both the rubes and the leadership, believing all these crazy conspiracy theories."

How about all those left-wingers who believe Marx and his crazy theory that capitalism is a gigantic conspiracy to oppress "the workers"?
"Who in the world calls Trump "daddy Trump"? His own kids don't. I suppose Lefties with daddy issues use the term. I've never heard a Trump voter use it."

Milo regularly calls Trump his Daddy.
The left pushes the fake news, and all conspiracies are right wing. But their go to source on supposed right wing terrorism,(there is exactly zero, left wing terrorist) is the Southern Poverty Law Center.
Spotted owls. Peak oil. The population bomb. DDT killed all the Bald Eagles. Butter is bad. Eggs are bad. Vaccines cause autism. Fluoride conspiricy. Coming Ice Age.
That's 30 second of thought.
The DDT ban has killed almost as many people as Stalin.
Quite a record.
"Coming Ice Age."
I'm not sure that's crazy. I hope so but....
Can anyone suggest what a thorough, non-crazy, non-pro forma investigation of the possibility of sex crimes or child abuse or both on Capitol Hill would consist of? And then could we do that? In a sensible way? Possibly not Twitter-driven or conducted by the DCstone Kops?
BTW hasn't Ann written favorably about this artist who did the spirit cooking? How deep does this Rabbit Hole go?
This story has all the elements necessary to be an example of gaslighting. The story promotes the banning of evil assault weapons, the censorship of fake news, and the falsification of Democrat sex scandals. It would not be more perfectly aligned with the desires of Democrat activism had it been scripted and acted out on film on a sound stage in Hollywood.
And now, having made my contribution to conspiracy theories, I'm off to brunch.
ps: Has anyone else noticed that the reCaptcha has been requiring an order of magnitude more clicks to verify one is not a robot? What's up with that?
"Coming Ice Age."
I'm not sure that's crazy. I hope so but....
It's crazy on a technicality, at least. We are currently in an ice age which has lasted 2.6 million years. (Are the poles covered in ice all year? Then it's an ice age.)
The glaciers are way up in the high latitudes, and not in North Dakota, so it's an "interglacial" warm period in the middle of an ice age, but it's still an ice age.
