"The Democrats will now control next to nothing above the municipal level."

"Donald Trump will be president. We are going to be unpacking this night for the rest of our lives, and lives beyond that. We can’t comprehend even 1 percent of what’s just happened. But one aspect of it, minor in the overall sweep, that I’m pretty sure we can comprehend well enough right now: The Democratic Party establishment has beclowned itself and is finished."

So flows the hysteria over at Slate. That's by Jim Newell, who might need to settle down.

It was so recently that we were told that the GOP was permanently over, that America was now structured so that the Democrats were going to win everything from here on out.

I do like this paragraph of Newell's:
We should blame all those people around the Clintons more than the Clintons themselves, and the Clintons themselves deserve a ridiculous amount of blame. Hillary Clinton was just an ambitious person who wanted to be president. There are a lot of people like that. But she was enabled. The Democratic establishment is a club unwelcoming to outsiders, because outsiders don’t first look out for the club. The Clintons will be gone now. For the sake of the country, let them take the hangers-on with them.

I thought it was actually not a terror and panic piece but a reflection of what it is. The Democrats had their best shot at winning the Senate in a while and failed. The House is not an option for a while it seems. They can't win many governorships. Keep losing state legislatures.

The party has problems and I'm not sure they'll ever address them.

Here's my thinking.

As long as, culturally, we shame people as powerfully as we do for social politics transgressions, voters don't think they need to vote out Republicans because society keeps them in check.

If the Democrats would just NOT use the cudgel of the populace to beat their enemies and insist on doing things through the legislature, people would vote for them. But, why vote for Democrats when you can sue people to get their social policies passed, while getting the benefit of the Republican policies you want to see enacted by keeping them in power, and then ginning up outrage at them whenever you want to check the Republicans.

Obama let the Clintons run the DNC after the 2014 elections. Hillary was always going to be the next Dem up. Obama deserves some blame for this. Once her email scandal came to light in early 2015, Obama should have gone to the Clintons and said you're out and Joe is in.

This is premature. They are still infesting the bureaucracy. Unless an example is made and the house is cleaned any charismatic grifter like Obama could rise up and take the reigns again. This is our last chance to purge the bureaucracy. We need to clean out the voter rolls and secure our borders. Millions of New Democrats just came across the border this year and overwhelmed ICE.

As much as anything else, the DNC lost because WE THE PEOPLE are not fond of the idea of a government that sees itself as empowered to walk right into our homes and control our lives - maybe at gunpoint.

We saw that again and again with the Obama administration how people like Lois Lerner used their offices as cudgels of the Inquisition against their political opponants, officials calling in SWAT armies against landowners for refusing to abandon the lands they'd been using for generations for the benefit of foreigners (and their paid-off politicians like Harry Reid), and strangled native businesses with a bureaucratic morass while lavishing taxpayer dollars on foreign companies ... leaving millions of Americans without the hope of work.

This election promised to double down on all of this by being lead by a person whose entire and illegally foreign-enriched "Her Majesty" personna screams some sick meld of Lucretia Borgia and Delores Umbrage ... intent on filling her pockets with cash all the while mothering to "deserved death" the vast "Basket of Deplorables" ... who still refuse to be enlightened into submission to the joys of Social Justice - the angry feminist edition.

WE THE PEOPLE were NOT amused. Hence the victory by the Orange Baboon - who most folks don't envision having SWAT teams kick down their doors for using the wrong light bulbs or talking smack about corrupt rich elite hypocrites.

He needs to tell them that they have to move their military forces away from the Russian border. NATO is about to create a nuclear war, and the USA will have to pay for it.

They said expansion of NATO east was just going to be political, but in fact, NATO now has artillery within range of Saint Petersburg.

The media keeps blaming Putin, but Putin is only saying what we would say if Russia sent its forces to Mexico in some alliance.

This is the biggest threat to world peace since the Cuban missile crisis. Only this time Russia will not back down.

They are not talking hydrogen weapons, they are talking atomic weapons of small yield, that are big enough to wipe out the NATO forces. Something that won't irradiate Russia itself with large doses.

You can see these weapons in action, on youtube, where US soldiers fight nuclear battles on the Nevada ranges. It's better than cluster bombs or GPS weapons.

Don't get me started on neutron weapons or high altitude EMP shots.

Clinton and crew--including Obama--were rejected because they were seen accurately as "say-anyting-do-the-usual" Beltway operators, vassals of Wall Street and the financial elites.

I don't think Trump's supporters are going to be very happy with how his administration will perform, as it will probably be very similar to what we've had the last 16-24 years, though, it is to be hoped, less belligerent on the world stage, and less apt to use the military to achieve our political aims.

It will be a couple of days before we get enough facts to really understand what happened in this election, but I think I am beginning to get a handle on some of it. The underestimation of Donald Trump makes the same of Reagan look like most people thought Reagan was the Messiah. Trump is a very smart man and he has one of the most important and rare talents of leadership: he knows how to relate to and inspire ordinary people. He understands himself completely. He knows how to turn his weaknesses into strengths. He has a tremendous amount of energy and, above all, perseverance. I think he knew Hillary was weaker than any of us thought. I think he was aware of the rot within the Clinton organization and the Democratic party. He was certainly attuned to the anger within large parts of the populace. How does a billionaire from NYC tune in like that unless he has some truly special talent?

Do I love seeing the MSM in apoplexy? You betcha! We are going to see a lot more of that in the future. All these smart asses with all the answers are going to be exposed for the rather stupid people they are. I agree with all those who have been wishing them a giant FU!

Did the United States Just Elect a Monster?

No. Clinton’s team of cognitive scientists and professional persuaders did a terrific job of framing Trump as scary. The illusion will wear off – albeit slowly – as you observe Trump going about the job of President and taking it seriously. You can expect him to adjust his tone and language going forward. You can expect foreign leaders to say they can work with him. You can expect him to focus on unifying an exhausted and nervous country. And you can expect him to succeed in doing so. (He’s persuasive.) Watch as Trump turns to healing. You’re going to be surprised how well he does it. But give it time.

I’ll be doing my persuasive best to help our new president unify the country. I’m not a monster either – just a little bit deplorable when the situation calls for it. And I would ask other Trump supporters to step up and be useful as well. If you helped elect Trump, you have a responsibility to calm the nerves of Clinton supporters who also have their country’s best interests in mind. Let’s all be worthy of our decisions.

How did you know this would play out like a movie?

Various exit polls are showing approximately 14% of black men, 4% of black women and 8% overall black vote for Trump.

That is on a par with recent Republican candidates. It's hard to quantify fairly, because the 2008 and 2012 elections featured Mr. Magical himself, Barack Obama. And those numbers will go down as historic outliers.

Republicans' share of black votes have been declining steadily since the 1970's.

Black turnout seems to have been terrible for Hillary. I know how terrible it was for her in Detroit. She lost Michigan by about 13,225 votes. (A very narrow loss.) And Wayne County (Detroit and surrounding communities of color) turnout was down by about 129,000 from 2012. Hillary lost Michigan because black voters didn't show up. Period. Full stop. Multiply that times Cleveland, times Milwaukee, times Charlotte, times Cincinnati, times Richmond, times Raleigh.

Here are some date from CBS exit polls:

Clinton needed extremely strong support from African-American voters to try to offset Trump’s margin among whites. She did win 88 percent of the black vote to just 8 percent for Trump. However, this was significantly lower than the 93 percent of black voters Mr. Obama won four years ago. The falloff in her share of the black vote was entirely due to black men. Clinton won among black women by a 93 percent to 4 percent margin. Among black men she won by 80 percent to 13 percent.

If they do, they'd be making the same mistake as Wisconsin Dem's did after the Walker election, Act 10, and the Recall.

Yeah, but it's who they are. Hillary and Bill are (or at least were) the representatives of the more moderate portion of the Democrat party. Hillary didn't even come out for gay marriage until it was a forgone conclusion. Come 2020 the DNC nominee is going to be hard left because that is were the energy in the party is going to come from. Bernie supporters are going to be insisting that he could have won. Party activists are all hard left. The only moderating influence I can see is from the donors and they will be perfectly happy to finance a candidate that is perceived as far left, as long as said candidate understands that regulations and policies inconvenience the donors' competitors only.

Will that strategy succeed? I agree with you, nope. That is, as long as Trump actually enacts his platform. But it will take at least one election cycle before the Democrat party can purge itself. And, as many people much smarter than me have pointed out, the press and the Democrat party (but I repeat myself) keeps announcing the demise of the Republican party, but it is the Democrats who are losing control of state governments.

What we have here is a seriously dangerous case of Group Think. And it should be a caution to us all. It was not simply the "hangers on" who were infected. The Rhodes Scholar and his Yale Law School Moll have been the inspiration to many university educated (I say that loosely) who can string several sentences together to make copy with terminal cases of Group Think. They convinced themselves with contagion and became more virulent as the election season wore on. They truly were artful in blowing their smoke up their own bung holes.

Alas, this Group Think spills over into Cognitive Dissonance of a terminal nature. I hear this on French Left Radio by the minute. American Experts were practically frothing at the mouth on Monday as if to convince their inferiors that the Intellectual Classes knew best. Every single one of them has been wrong. The entire system of polling has been wrong, although a careful analysis of the margin of error should let anyone realize that the spread in the polls was noise.

What is very troubling is that political experts of the media breed are using their role as analysts as a bully pulpit. More Group Think preaching to the faithful. Problematic as that these true believers are a closed group, part of the disease. I heard this evening on French Left Radio a Franco-American woman say (in French), "Who are THESE people who voted for Trump. None of my friends voted for this horrible man." So much for an unbiased sample.

Group Think is a very common disease; we are all prone to it. Lest we forget, this infected lot of American Royalty must be a lesson to us all.

[The Clintonian Democrats] are still infesting the bureaucracy.

Unfortunately the federal bureauracy (not the military, btw) has been insulated and cosseted by a library of civil service regulations that has made it virtually impossible to fire anyone over a GS5. Once you get to GS6 you have a guaranteed job for life. Practically speaking there are just three things that can get you fired from a federal job:

1) Sexual harassment in the workplace (Sound a wolf whistle and you'll hit the street so fast you'll head will spin.)
2) Insubordination
3) Be convicted of a felony (maybe)

Trump will run into endless frustrations if he tries to run the bureaucracy like one of his golf resorts (Crabgrass on my greens? You're fired!) However, even though it is next to impossible to fire a federal office schlub or even decrease their salary or emoluments, the Secretary of the governmental department overseeing a particular agency or service can specify the exact duties anyone must perform, which suggests a way to cut that gordian knot.

A reflective vest, a bunch of plastic bags, and a stick with a nail in it would be fitting for the likes of Peter Kadzik, methinks

Yes, it does. I don't think most people appreciate just how batshit crazy a good portion of the left has gotten. Nor how willing they are to use force to get their way.

The john doe investigation in Wisconsin for instance. You had a political party willing to use the police power of the state to suppress an opposing viewpoint. The ultimate aim of the investigation was to destroy and possibly imprison people for threatening the flow of money to the Democrat party. How is that different from any other totalitarian state? And if the courts had not put a stop to it, wouldn't the people of Wisconsin been justified in using force to resist this attack on their rights and freedom. Fortunately, despite the Democrat attempt to subvert it, the rule of law still prevails, for the most part.

In fact it was the Democrats and the media that ended up electing Trump. Because they fundamentally misread the situation. Their strategy was to push pied piper candidates to marginalize the republicans as extremists and to knock out the moderates. They thought that Marco Rubio and Jeb were actually the candidates that would pose the biggest threat. not Trump.
So, lets think back to when Trump was getting all the media coverage. This was calculated.

http://mashable.com/2016/10/14/cnn-donald-trump/#xATh7lVq7aqX They gave him the coverage becaue they thought, once he was only one left standing he could be easiest to take out. And they did the same to Bernie. Remember how he was always saying he couldn't get ANY coverage. Even though he was pulling HUGE crowds. again, this was the strategy. Because he was popular, bury the coverage. Then Hillary gets to step in and be the candidate.

But a funny thing happened on the way to the forum. Trump was actually the candidate they should have promoted LEAST. they should instead have promoted JEb. Because the country was going through an anti establishment sentiment and wanted populist who took on the system.

So, it was the right strategy at the wrong time. If the libs are shocked at trump winning they might want to look at how spectacularly their strategy backfired in their face.
