"On Mr. Trump’s best day (and Mrs. Clinton’s worst), this race gets only to tied."

"Mr. Trump has to figure out how to go from the red zone to the end zone and finally take some kind of lead. My expectation is that the only way he can do this is with a superb debate performance.... Mr. Trump remains as undisciplined as when he first came down the escalator in June 2015 to announce his candidacy. As we saw during Monday’s debate at Hofstra, while he started strong, Mr. Trump showed that he is more of a sprint campaigner than a marathoner. He excels at short spurts but doesn’t seem able to maintain consistency for a lengthy period. And the aftermath of the debate was clear: He got in a Twitter war with a former Miss Universe that totally took him away from a more powerful message. On a visceral gut level, he seems incapable of making the adjustments to acquire the discipline one needs as a politician....."

Writes Matthew J. Dowd in "4 Key Elements of the Clinton-Trump Contest Shaping the Final Weeks of the Race."

Politico reports that Roger Stone tweeted that a Wikileaks bombshell is coming Wednesday and will finish off Hillary!.

HMM? -- ROGER STONE, Donald Trump adviser and friend. @RogerJStoneJr tweeted at 12:52 a.m.: “Wednesday@HillaryClinton is done. #Wikileaks.”

The polls lump women in with men.

Women like political correctness. It's a safe space.

Since the prospect of women upping their game is nil, the idea is that Trump has to go PC. This is called discipline.

On the other hand the whole support base is anti-PC.

So the suggestion would be play Hillary the unsafe treasonous criminal and rapist, more or less what Trump could do without losing his base.

Dowd accuses Trump of being a poor politician. Could he receive any higher accolade ?

I admit he is undisciplined and it is frustrating but, what he says is what he is thinking.

Hillary would lie when asked the time of day.

If Trump can stay on time and on target he needs to remind the voters he wants to win to make the country great again and Hillary needs to win to stay out of jail.

If Trump is a mere "sprinter" after doing rally after sold-out rally, Hillary is a non-starter. She never left the gate.

And Dowd conjures bad visuals for Hillary. Hillary is not helped when Dowd calls the image of a sprinting Trump to mind. Most of us find it difficult to imagine her even walking more than a few steps. No one can imagine Hillary running, much less running a marathon. Heck, she can't even get out of her black, high-ceilinged suburban in view of the press; she disembarks on the opposite side and walks awkwardly around the car to face the cameras.

Lack of imagination you have. He can also win by Hillary losing through her health, her lies, the withering weight of her scandals on voters, etc.

Yah, poop or get off. You got something? Let's see it.

True bombshells work best through surprise.

Unless Wikileaks has the deleted and never found e-mails from Hillary's various servers, or has the e-mails from the foundation itself, I doubt there are bombshells to be delivered. It isn't impossible they have those e-mails- I suspect the Clinton camp is worried about that, it is just that I doubt they have them- it is likely Clinton and her staff successfully bleached everything in the Spring of 2015. That gap between the last bleaching and today is a year and half- anything damaging we haven't already seen would have reached sunlight by this point, surely.

One other thing they could have, though, are videos or, at least, transcripts of the speeches she was paid for by Wall Street at a rate of $250K a pop. It isn't nothing that she and those who paid her refuse to tell us the content.

"My expectation is that the only way he can do this is with a superb debate performance". Heh - total wishful thinking. He knows that debate is the only venue where Clinton can actually do well. Trump can potentially gain on every other front. He can make still more inroads in the black community. More Americans who can't stand Clinton but are afraid of the crazy guy can start to see his as a pretty normal guy. More Wikileaks and other stuff can keep chipping at Clinton's hitherto sterling reputation. His audit can end and he releases his tax stuff, which is unlikely to say anything important anyhow. Clinton's health can put in more appearances. There could be another terrorist attack by Muslim immigrants.
There are lots of ways that Trump can gain significantly.

Yancy, they could have gotten the emails from any foreign government or private hacker who tore past the toilet paper protecting the emails before it became an issue.

The bulk of the voters don't give a shit about debates. The Media will always tell you that the Democrat won, no matter what your eyes saw. And they tell you that until your ears bleed. The only reason people watched the first debate was to see Hillary have a medical episode. Kudos to her medical team for coming up with a combination of drugs that allowed her to look normal. Let's hope that they don't become less effective in the future as her body adjusts.

The Trump campaign has flown in emergency help from the UK - Nigel Farage, who is an excellent debater and key in getting Brexit passed. He's apparently giving Donald a crash course in how to debate. Let's hope it's not too late and that Trump actually submits to taking direction from another man.

According to the left Trump is this year's Hitler. It must grate Hillary no end that she isn't fifty points ahead of Hitler. Imagine that, she is so bad she might lose to Hitler.

Even if Hillary is defeated the aristocracy will just prop up another corrupt souless pawn.

The issue is the growing tumor in DC and the wealthiest .01% that use DC to maintain wealth and control. Eventually the Bernie supporters will figure it out.

These are three questions I think about.

Which candidate would be more willing to shed the blood of our military members?

Which candidate would most likely reduce inefficiencies in government bureaucracies?

Which candidate is more impeachable if they exceed their authority or break the law?

The largest and fastest growing demographic in America is that of overweight women. Trump with his unprincipled attack on Alicia Machado has irrevocably lost this cohort. Trump is toast. Hillary like her husband before her is eager to embrace the sorrows and trials of overweight women. They know they have a friend in Hillary.

If evidence should turn up implicating the Pope in a child abuse scandal, Catholics would not overnight suddenly convert to Baptists. There is no scandal that would undermine the faith of Democrats in Hillary and the Democratic Party.

I have read that one's perception of debate winners changes over time and is shaped more by later discussions of the debate than by one' s immediate response. Something like this seems to be going on with Trump's performance. When I first saw the debate, I thought he had done ok. Not a knockout winner, but he scored his points. Now that I've listened to all these learned pundits, I doubt my original judgment. It has now become the accepted wisdom that he lost the debate and badly.

Debates are about the past. The Presidency is about doing the right thing when you are called upon to do it. Hillary has proven that she can't help doing the wrong thing.

Michael K said...

Somebody else has addressed this but, to reiterate, maybe the Russians or Chinese have been monitoring her all along and have the details. Bleachbit isn't retroactive.

My question is whether they prefer her or Trump. I don;t know. It may depend on whether one of them wants war. Then Hillary would probably be a better bet since she will continue to destroy the US military. If Putin wants to deal, probably Trump although the Russians have a lot invested in her.,

I don't know why @DJT and @RNC and all their horses and all their men are not ceaselessly attacking Crooked Hillary and the democrat party over the crimes and perjuries related to Clinton's "email" scandal. The blatant partisan unconstitutional abuse of power by the DOJ, FBI, State department, and Obama administration exposed by the congressional investigative committee is indefensible! Even now the FBI is defying a congressional subpoena to produce the entire file related to their "investigation" of Lady Clinton. Of course democrats want to talk about Fat Miss America, and Obama's birth certificate, and Trump's tax returns from 20 years ago- Let them! Republican should emulate Trump's birther press conference by replying "I'll respond to those accusations, after I've spoken about how the corrupt democrat party has abetted their presidential candidate in covering-up her criminal activity." I'd say a majority of American voters are computer savvy enough to understand what it means to go back and try to delete your history- What are they trying to hide?
I believe the voting public is more interested in a made-for Law-And-Order type investigation involving an FBI/DOJ/White House cover-up, than in DJT's old tax returns.

Dowd's analysis is in line with my own outlook on this--a fairly close race, with what looks like a slightly lower ceiling for Trump than for Clinton. His bad week (and it was a bad week) wasn't so much going to lose him his current support (nothing will--absolutely nothing) but Trump needs to raise his ceiling and get additional support, and the "bad week" prevented that. He needed a good debate performance to get waverers on to his side, and when he did not do that he doubled down by spending a week fighting with Machado for some reason.

Time is short--about a month left--and there's still a cache of voters up for grabs.

Given the NYT giddy printing of Trump's quite legal tax returns, I don't see any reason why Trump shouldn't giddily replay what Wikileaks puts out there.

Hillary like her husband before her is eager to embrace the sorrows and trials of overweight women. They know they have a friend in Hillary.

Unless Bill wants to fuck them. Then Hillary will gut them.

Hillary attacked and slimed women for the crime of her husband wanting to fuck them. Trump ordered a pageant winner to get back in shape per her agreement. I've worked at casinos and none of the cocktail waitresses would've been employed if they gained 60 pounds. Hell, 7 pounds put them at risk of dismissal.
