I'm picturing Trump using the debate as his forum for revealing that he is withdrawing.

It could be very dramatic. The ultimate in showmanship.

Let us look back and say: Nothing in his campaign became him like the leaving it; he withdrew as one that had been studied in withdrawing; to throw away the dearest thing he owned, as 'twere a careless trifle.

Shakespeare reference: here.

Well, since it has been proven again and again that the Clintons have no standards or shame or decency, I guess it would not be a case of double standards to say that Trump should drop out and not say that Hillary should do the same. Were everyone playing by Clinton rules, Trump would be cheered right now, rather than people feigning shock and offense.

Not sure how practical that would be now with 50 different state laws regulating ballot changes. What he could do, is say that he'd resign immediately after his inauguration. That way he could say he won the presidency and appear magnanimous in giving it up for the greater good.

Don't think he'll that though. And even if he did, I doubt it would change the outcome.

We see it here on abundant display, whether you use the cute example from Macbeth, given the history of Hillary being Lady Macbeth, or whether, when it comes to giving things up, the example of Hillary's Gollum-like obsession with "her precious" ring of power.

It's a good picture and doubtless would happen if this were a movie or a TV drama. In reality, while it's true Trump is a showman, there is no benefit to his brand for leaving now. Brand-wise, Trump is better off seeing this through to the end.

I still think Trump can use this episode as a springboard. Not necessarily improve his chances, but to remain competitive.

Trump can have a "come to Jesus moment" to atone for his comments, whereas Hillary can't. Trump can simultaneously admit his blustering style that spilled over into sex talk with the guys, apologize, and promise to do better in his life -- all without impugning either his honesty or integrity to the electorate. His initial public statement reflected this approach.

Comments attributed to Hillary during highly compensated Wall Street speeches really offer no redemptive equivalent: she's boxed in by conflicts in honesty and integrity. Hillary's long-proven tragic instinct for poor strategic decsion-making was evident when she told her Wall Street audiences exactly what she thought they wanted to hear.

I'm really puzzled. Are you joking, Ann? I thought for sure your previous post about Trump's lack of self-restraint was just trolling. But now it seems you're doubling down on throwing him under the bus. Obviously Trump is not going to drop out. Nor should he. This is just politics as usual for the Democrats. They can't win any other way except by dishing dirt, cheating and the politics of personal destruction. All of it happens with an assist from a corrupt media, and in this election, members of Trump's own party. I'm not defending his words (which is ALL they were). But to think that the people who support Trump are going to stop just because of this "bombshell" is delusional and short-sighted. Not only does Hillary show no self-restraint, but she won't be restrained by anyone or anything else, either. We've already seen plenty of evidence of that. She has been recorded saying so many inappropriate things, but it all gets brushed under the rug by the media. Surely you understand that? I would think most reasonably intelligent people understand that none of us would want our private conversations revealed to the world. We all say inappropriate things sometimes. Plus, have you listened to popular music lately? Have you watched TV or movies? Have you spoken to anyone under the age of 30? I'm disappointed.

They'd find something. Don't you remember 2012? The national "conversation" was about Sesame Street and binders of women and Mitt bullying some kid in high school, not about Obama's record.

The media are experts at making campaigns about the Republican candidate's flaws and not about the Democrat's actual record. Trump won't surrender. He can just say that Bill Clinton tells the same kind of stories and so do Hillary's Hollywood celebrity supporters and stars. She has star supporters and Trump - once again the truth teller - is saying that women in Hollywood and on the celebrity circuit expect stars, these Hillary supporters to come on to them in rude, disgusting, abusive ways. Often Hollywood wives enable this behavior just as Hillary does, so Hillary fits right in. That's why Hollywood and its stars (who hate Trump) support her - she enables their assaults and groping. And she'll invite the Hollywood Star Groping Team to the White House where they can be foul in a new venue. But the Hollywood Assault Team won't be in the White House if Trump is there because they hate him. Plus they know that Wapo will be recording Trump parties and putting them on the front page with cries of "shame, shame" if at all possible, whereas under Hillary the Wapo will be suppressing the truth about the assaults on women that Hollywood and Bill will be enjoying in the White House.

So in the world we live in women would be better off with Trump in the White House. And it's time for the Puritan revolution - we now know why the people who founded this country hated the English court and the aristocracy everywhere.

3) She sold favors while in office though donations to the Clinton Foundation, using her office to gain wealth at the expense of the American people. She even sold Uranium production in the Western US to Russia, while her husband sold military secrets and technology to China. ONLY 7% of Clinton Foundation Funds go to "Charity".

4) She destabilized Algeria, Libya, Egypt and Syria, starting multiple wars in the Middle East in the pursuit of "regime change", murdered another country's sovereign ruler (Kadafi), then bragged about it. Many thousands of innocents have died in these "arab spring" wars, and it has sown the seeds of the "migration crisis" seen today.

5) She let our Ambassador at the outpost of Bengahzi to be killed brutally, then blamed it on a "movie" for weeks.

6) She armed what is now ISIS through arm shipments through Libya to Syria (which is why Ambassador Stevens was killed-- knew too much about treason).

7) She served as SOS under an illegal Usurper (Hussein Obama).

Team Hillary (and her Republican enablers) is actually trying this out right now. She is shaming men into thinking that they won't get any pussy if they don't agree that Trump is a criminal for touching the women who wiggled onto his lap and so-much-more-innocently felt his crotch through their clothes rather than with their actual hands.

Sometimes Latin women like to grab (strongly grab, I should say) your dick as you're making out with them. But I guess that's ok because of the rewards they're owed by the political left.

Me, I couldn't care less. Grab it, don't grab it. Wiggle on it, don't wiggle on it. We all gotta communicate and communication takes many forms. I guess I have yet to understand the benefits of psychologically amputating my own sex organs that way and declaring them an interaction-free zone.

It's funny how those of us who actually enjoy (and seem to understand) sex invest so much less of our own identities into it and how protected and "off-limits" it needs to be in order to do so.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

Now is the time for the Trump campaign to pull out whatever tactical nukes they have in their pocket regarding Clinton's corrupt behavior, as well as for her covering for her husband's sexual adventures. I'm still backing Trump, despite the fact that I abhor his comments, because Hillary Clinton is a criminal who belongs in the Big House, not the White House. Given a choice between a vulgar boor and a corrupt criminal, I'll take the vulgar boor.

Am I the only one here that thinks that sexual comments are less damning to a candidate than corruption? Is sexual sin the only kind?

1. So how are Ann and Larry free to marry each other, remind me?
2. He wasn't going to steal, just borrow.

If you're a married woman, you're spoken for already. My conversation with you will be limited to harmless topics like the weather.
10/8/16, 2:52 PM

Sinz52, I say, without insult, that I had no idea that you were a man.

Furthermore: women who are taken are the best ones to flirt with. I just spent a very pleasant evening out, taking a friend at work to dinner who had passed his securities exams, and invited his friend A. who happened to be there to come too. Both of them just out of college.

She, a peach of a girl, is firmly committed to some 6'6" Balkan looking model type; very well, that liberates me as well as her. She is quite capable of being appreciated by a man. I am a man, and although I am far too old for her I suppose, in fact I am not too old to be appreciated, or even to be dangerous if I chose.

Don't worry, I'm coming to the germane part...Some discussion arose about her height. She is only 5'5" and spoke of high heels. I smiled and said, May I touch you?

She looked at me uncertainly for a moment...smiled, said Yes...

I stepped to her, put an arm about her slim waist and pulled her close...looked into her eyes, at her face...lips perfectly positioned to kiss...if I may say so, I perceived that she found it very agreeable...

I said, You seem just the right height to me.

The evening proceeded merrily...need it be said that I was the perfect gentleman and gracious host?

Now technically, I had asked and received permission to touch her. While my grabbing her crotch at that juncture would have been as likely as my eating plutonium, I would, I think, have been within my rights. She was of course trusting me to do nothing that she would have found disagreeable. An interesting permutation would have been if I seized her waist and drew her to me without asking. I daresay it would have gone about as well.

So I am capable of seeing what Trump describes as a matter of degree. Don Draper did it on Mad Men, after all, and as with everything he did on that show, it was very effective. If you're Tom Jones, women throw their panties at you on stage. Some people have magnetism to a different degree.

Now, I've had women take my hand and place it on their breasts. Women can be forward. It's wonderful. I think women also like it sometimes when men are forward. Likewise spontaneous, edgy, unpredictable.

The notion of making all this deterministic with Antioch style rules? Worth fighting.

I shouldn't say the #NeverTrumpers had NO pussies for Trump to grab. In the end he grabbed Ted Cruz's pussy. Even made it purr.

Good one, Meade! Really good!

No. Far from it.

But in elitist pundit-world, elitist college bureaucrat-world, and Vatican-on-the-Hudson NYTimes - (where our host gets her cues) - anything sexual counts as the worstest transgression evar! Even if it's just a questionably accurate bout of braggadocio with no actual claim of unwanted anything to back it up.

Oh, they will getcha! Anyone who ever had sex with anyone for any purpose other than having a baby and without a notarized copy of the woman's consent to that act, that night - is fair game.

Stalinism at its finest.

Would people feel very differently if he expressed equivalent sentiments in a more refined or literary manner? Imagine Oscar Wilde saying it.

"When I see a wench like that I reach for my Altoids, I'm on fire to share my embraces. Let me tell you, once a lady is sufficiently sensible of the presence of a fellow such as me, I find that I may touch her as I like."

Better?

PAPERS! PAPERS! PAPIEREN! Consent must be DOCUMENTED AND NOTARIZED! NO EXCEPTIONS FOR MEN WHO ARE OBVIOUSLY BEING SEXUALLY ADMIRED BY THE WOMEN THEY TOUCH!!! NEVER! SEXUAL CONTACT OF ANY SORT MUST ALWAYS BE PRESUMED WRONG, EVIL OR MAYBE JUST "UNWANTED" IF THAT FAILS OR ELSE WE ARE JUST SODDOM AND GOMMORAH AND ROME X 1,000 AND SHOULD ANTICIPATE OUR DESTRUCTION AT THE HAND OF THE ALMIGHTY IMMEDIATELY!!!

Rhythm and Balls,

"Anyone who ever had sex"

No, R&B. Anyone who is not of the Party who ever had sex. Bill and Hill and Gerry Studds and all of them are just peachy.

So, are you going to fight the power, or not?

Oscar Wilde wouldn't say that about a woman. He was quite eloquent on the charms of rent boys, though.

What is it called when a woman (who may or may not be wearing a tight, form-fitting, soft dress) hugs you and takes that opportunity to rub her crotch against yours?

The good old days?
BTW, "Smartest woman in the world" Hillary was to dumb to know that a quick dick licking every a.m. would probably have kept Bill in check. Or, maybe she knew it but was too arrogant to do it

Yeah yeah I think you get me. Some other figure of the period then. Shelley, whoever.

Oscar Wilde.

I stooped to streaming a version of his life as played by Stephen Fry on Amazon. Some shrew known as the 9th Marquess of Queensberry played the father of his youthful lover (played, in turn, by an impetuous and incorrigible Jude Law). The Marquess actually met with Wilde's character for the purposes of assessing his fitness as a lover to his son. (Apparently in barely not still Victorian England, class was still more important even than heterosexuality. But not by much).

Well anyway, the Marquess of that oh-so-manly-named estate ultimately came to the conclusion that, no, Wilde would not do. Perhaps too Bohemian, perhaps too ill-bred. Perhaps homosexuality still wasn't just something to be overlooked if class-based matches could overcome it. But following the argument he had with his son, I remember him calling out in a refined accent the slur that he thought was just too fitting to resist:

Bum-boy!

Trump's role in this farrago is to be worse than Hillary. A difficult task, but he's up to it. Trump keeping on as he has is Hillary's best chance to win. What a revolting development this is.

"Politics aside, I’m saddened that these comments still exist in our society at all. When I heard the comments yesterday, it was disappointing to hear such objectification of women. The conversation needs to change because no female, no person, should be the subject of such crass comments, whether or not cameras are rolling. Everyone deserves respect no matter the setting or gender. As a woman who has worked very hard to establish her career, and as a mom, I feel I must speak out with the hope that as a society we will always strive to be better."
