lI received my MS degree from Wisconsin in 1962. We have lived in Cleveland for 45 years. We watched the OSU UW game and I told my wife that OSU was not #2. We thought that it would probably be OSU-UW in the Big 10 title game. Now I think it will be UM vs UW. That will be a good match up.
at least we have the Indians vs the Cubs. Our kids live in Chicago - so that will be a family rivalry.
What a strange way to break your Midwestern football silence (with a loss)! Still scratching my head. I mean, Michigan won, and won big, but it was against the illini. ho hum. Still, they are ranked number 3.
From what I saw, OSU just played poorly. Penn State did not give up, kudos to them.
Meanwhile, LSU is rebounding, thank goodness the Tide has played them already, but unfortunately the eastern team in the state is also gaining strength.
Something I'm totally sure will never exist is an internet video highlight summary of how the Philadelphia Union beat the New York Red Bulls in today's game.
Just so everyone understands, we are discussing Penn State University, home of the football program that dishonored Joe Paterno, the winningest head football coach in NCAA history for a sex abuse scandal in which he had not participated.
Understand that this was not the University of Pennsylvania where Donald Trump puportedly earned a batchelors degree in business administration.
In an August 16 television interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” he [Trump] described the school as “probably the hardest there is to get into.” He added, “Some of the great business minds in the world have gone to Wharton."
But biographer Gwenda Blair wrote that Trump was admitted to the Wharton School because the Admissions Officer knew Donald's older brother Freddy.
A Trump stream of consciousness sentence uttered in a single breath says it all: "Look, having nuclear—my uncle was a great professor and scientist and engineer, Dr. John Trump at MIT; good genes, very good genes, OK, very smart, the Wharton School of Finance, very good, very smart—you know, if you’re a conservative Republican, if I were a liberal, if, like, OK, if I ran as a liberal Democrat, they would say I'm one of the smartest people anywhere in the world—it’s true!—but when you're a conservative Republican they try—oh, do they do a number—that’s why I always start off: Went to Wharton, was a good student, went there, went there, did this, built a fortune—you know I have to give my like credentials all the time, because we’re a little disadvantaged—but you look at the nuclear deal, the thing that really bothers me—it would have been so easy, and it’s not as important as these lives are (nuclear is powerful; my uncle explained that to me many, many years ago, the power and that was 35 years ago; he would explain the power of what's going to happen and he was right—who would have thought?), but when you look at what's going on with the four prisoners—now it used to be three, now it’s four—but when it was three and even now, I would have said it's all in the messenger; fellas, and it is fellas because, you know, they don't, they haven’t figured that the women are smarter right now than the men, so, you know, it’s gonna take them about another 150 years—but the Persians are great negotiators, the Iranians are great negotiators, so, and they, they just killed, they just killed us."
@Oh Yea said... "gadfly said... ... Joe Paterno, the winningest head football coach in NCAA history for a sex abuse scandal in which he had not participated..."
That's the problem, Joe didn't participate and take action to stop it when it was brought to his attention.
Over the past four-and-a-half years Joe Paterno's conduct has been scrutinized by an endless list of investigators and attorneys," the Paterno family's attorney, Wick Sollers, said in a statement.
"Through all of this review there has never been any evidence of inappropriate conduct by Coach Paterno. To the contrary, the evidence clearly shows he shared information with his superiors as appropriate.
"An allegation now about an alleged event 40 years ago, as represented by a single line in a court document regarding an insurance issue, with no corroborating evidence, does not change the facts. Joe Paterno did not, at any time, cover up conduct by Jerry Sandusky."
Yes, I realize that, now. When we stumble, we often do so off of the bye. Please no one tell me there is a more competitive conference than the SEC - or that it is "overrated" - because there simply is not. This time of the year is called running the gauntlet.
Back when teams like TCU and Boise State and others were belly-aching to be taken seriously, my idea was to invite them in to the conference for a year or two. You never know what could happen, but I imagine it could settle some things.

Woody Allen? Allen? ALLEN? And no one caught that? There can't be too many OSU grads or true college football fans frequenting the premises here if that didn't prompt a correction by now.
Thanks for the link. I hadn't seen many highlights, and not that special team touchdown at the end. Oops for Urban. (Of course, my Facebook feed was littered with We Are posts)

It's not like the great days when Woody Allen was coach at OSU.
Woody was on a non-stop roll until he introduced himself to Charlie Bauman.

Looked like tens of thousands of ghosts in the stands. Very odd.
Buckeyes win that game if at home.
"Buckeyes win that game if at home."
OSU would be undefeated for next 1000 games if they were all played at home, but I don't believe that's how it works.
My football year 2016 has been much like my political year 2016. Dire.
Buckeyes are overrated this year. Hard to replace all the guys that went into the NFL, most early.

OSU is not out of it.
Oops, I thought we beat the B tigers already, wrong. Darn.
Yay! Good job Nittany Lions.

"Barrett found a way to escape - something J.T. Barrett does better than anyone in the country." Yeah, better than anyone not named Lamar.
"Bread and circuses"
textbook Urban decline

Understand that this was not the University of Pennsylvania where Donald Trump puportedly earned a batchelors degree in business administration.
“I went to the Wharton School of Finance,” he [Trump] said multiple times in a July 11 speech in Phoenix, Ariz. “I’m, like, a really smart person.”
In an August 16 television interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” he [Trump] described the school as “probably the hardest there is to get into.” He added, “Some of the great business minds in the world have gone to Wharton."

HT,
Alabama and LSU play each other in 2 weeks, and it is at LSU.
We ARE!
Thanks, gadfly, for answering questions no one would be dumb enough to ask
While all of you were watching PSU, the Penn Quakers demolished Yale 42-7. Go Quakes!

There is no proof to support that allegation. According to the Paterno family attorney:
Over the past four-and-a-half years Joe Paterno's conduct has been scrutinized by an endless list of investigators and attorneys," the Paterno family's attorney, Wick Sollers, said in a statement.
"Through all of this review there has never been any evidence of inappropriate conduct by Coach Paterno. To the contrary, the evidence clearly shows he shared information with his superiors as appropriate.

"Dumb enough to ask?" or too dumb to observe Trump's solipsism at work?

Seems to me I remember an OSU home loss not that long ago.....
I thought the Woody Allen comment was a form of hazing.
... or was that Hayes-ing.
"in which he had not participated. "
Bullshit on stilts. You're the man in charge. The buck stops with you. So sick of Paterno Apologists

I would never allow my kids to attend Penn State, a school that protects pedophiles.
