Weiner's wiener is back in the news.

It's just another phallic Monday:
While his wife, Huma Abedin, travels the country campaigning for Hillary Clinton, the disgraced ex-congressman has been sexting with a busty brunette out West — and even sent her a lurid crotch shot with his toddler son in the picture, The Post has learned....

Weiner was clearly aroused by his conversation with the 40-something divorcee when he abruptly changed the subject.

“Someone just climbed into my bed,” Weiner wrote.

“Really?” she responded.

Weiner then hit “send” on the cringe-inducing image, which shows a bulge in his white, Jockey-brand boxer briefs and his son cuddled up to his left, wrapped in a light-green blanket.

“You do realize you can see you[r] Weiner in that pic??” the woman wrote.

Moments after forwarding the photo, Weiner freaked out over the possibility he had accidentally posted it publicly — just as he did during the infamous episode that forced him to resign from Congress in 2011.

“Ooooooh . . . I was scared. For half a second I thought I posted something. Stop looking at my crotch,” Weiner wrote back....
Carlos is into the danger. Have a little empathy. You know I do. It's his sexual orientation. And it's safe sex. Except the part where you humiliate your wife, whose name I'd put right next to the word "humiliate" if a thousand writers hadn't already done that juxtaposition. It's not a new humiliation, just another iteration of the old humiliation.

Karl Marx wrote that history repeats itself, "the first time as tragedy, the second time as farce."

But this is Anthony Weiner's third time.

The first got him bullied out of Congress by who knows exactly which forces within the Democratic Party — Hillobaschumer? Tragic!

The second was when he was running for major of NYC, the comical repeat documented in the movie "Weiner," which we were just watching the other day. Yes, truly: farce.

And now, again. Once more, with feeling. Once more, with the child in the picture. Once more, with open discussion of the excitement he gets from risking fucking his wife again. Fucking — I mean that metaphorically.

I'd say the third time is the modern psychological novel — inviting us to explore the complications of a modern marriage.

UPDATE: I put up a new post about Huma finally separating from Anthony: here.

It's like a rom-com, for instance, The Holiday, where there is one main couple, and one comic couple. I think they are all based on Much Ado About Nothing

By means of "noting" (which, in Shakespeare's day, sounded the same as "nothing" as in the play's title, and which means gossip, rumour, and overhearing), Benedick and Beatrice are tricked into confessing their love for each other, and Claudio is tricked into rejecting Hero at the altar on the erroneous belief that she has been unfaithful. At the end, Benedick and Beatrice join forces to set things right, and the others join in a dance celebrating the marriages of the two couples

Anyway, try as they might, they are not going to turn Bill and Hillary into the kinds of ideal couple that make the lead in a romantic comedy.

Though Huma and Wiener would do OK as the butt of a great deal of nasty humor, it's just that nobody in the whole foursome has any kind of redeeming qualities.

They're a fascinating mystery. She's so closed and he's so open. Why are they together? Why were they ever together? Why are they still together? Are they together now for the child? Would that explain the exposure of the child in a sexual context? What do I have to do to unlock myself from this locked off lady?

I will give you that Bill is smart. Hillary is the author of train wreck after train wreck. How smart can she be? Though it appears from the emails released that she is into Nuvigil, which is a kind of smart pill. So she is at least dimly aware that she is not as smart as she could be. I took it for a while for a sleep problem, and it easily raised my IQ by ten points, for about a month... then the receptors wore off, I guess.

Wherein I digress even more: How do I know it raised my IQ? Well the first clue was that I was looking for me keys, and I didn't keep looking in the same places as I normally would. I went back in the kitchen to look by the fridge, but I knew to a certainty that the keys were not there. I didn't even bother to look again as I normally would have. It was kind of shocking. The second event was reading the documentation of a programming function that I had never really understood, but I had always managed to sort of hack with it to get the right result, so it didn't matter whether I really understood the ins and outs, but this time I read it and it was clear as day how to use it and I used got the proper result the first try.

I would love to be as smart permanently as I was for that month.

None of the articles I've seen tell how Weiner's texting came to be known by the public this time. It makes me wonder if the Clinton campaign thought some new embarrassment of Hillary's was going to come out and they had Weiner distract us with this.

Actually this could be a plus for HRC if Huma decided to take time off for personal reasons (either saving her marriage or divorcing the dick she's married to). That creates a diversion from the email scandal especially if Huma were portrayed in an unfavorable light in new emails. HRC could then shift blame to Huma and humanely bring her back into the fold after the election.

I don't see how anyone could feel sympathy for his wife at this point--clearly she knows what he's about and that that's never going to change, and she stays with him. Obviously, none of this is enough of a problem for her, so why should we even be interested in it?

Some husbands drink too much beer, some watch too much TV, and some can't hold down a job. Her husband happens to like to send penis pictures to other women. It's his anti-drug, and Huma considers this something she can live with.

Pedantic aside: The "history repeats itself, the first time as" version of the Marx quote bugs me. History only repeats once. He did not say, and would not have said, that history "repeats" itself first as tragedy, nor did he mean to imply that certain striking events occur three times -- the original event plus the two repeats. The butchered English version, with the tragedy being the first occurrence and repeat, makes no sense.

And common translations (linked by AA) avoid the usual twist: "Hegel remarks somewhere that all great world-historic facts and personages appear, so to speak, twice. He forgot to add: the first time as tragedy, the second time as farce."

tim in vermont said...

Hillary never left him because he was her ticket to power. Would the Democrats in New York State have cleared the field for her Senate run if she had divorced Bill? It's a dumb idea because if "all great world-historic facts and personages" appear twice, they'll appear dozens/hundreds/thousands of times over hundreds or thousands of years, and the authors of that nonsense are not looking at the first and second occurrences of anything, they're looking at the 12th and 13th, or the 101st and 102nd (to throw in some arbitrary numbers).

They might as well have said: the 14th time is tragedy, the 15th time is farce.

With her poll numbers cratering, Carly Fiorina opted to use her opening statement in the GOP debate last week to sling mud at the Clinton marriage. “Unlike another woman in this race,” Fiorina said, “I actually love spending time with my husband.” We have to take Carly’s word for it that she loves spending time with her husband, Frank, however it would be surprising to learn that she has inside dope on whether Bill and Hillary love to spend time together.

But Carly has not always been a loving spouse. Her first husband, Todd Bartlem, has said that it was Carly’s affair with Frank Fiorina, then a divorced business executive, that broke up their marriage.

We are talking about a husband who has been credibly accused of forcible rape and many other sexual assaults here. His defense against one of the charges of rape is that her husband must have beaten her, because she is damaged goods. Hillary aided and abetted this defense, as well as many "nuts and sluts" charges against Bill's many victims.

Her husband cost the couple almost a million dollars in a payoff of one sexual harassment lawsuit. Still, she stands by her man.

But you would rather just call it all cheating, as if it were all completely consensual. If I thought that he had the same number, but of "affairs" that were consensual, I wouldn't even give it a second thought.

But as ever, the Clinton trolls seek to change the subject.

Why? So these crooks can just do whatever they want without getting checked?

It's coming you know if she wins. There will be an serious effort to silence and criticism. The Democrats and Global Elites want full control of the media and information deemed acceptable for distribution.

They're nuts.

Breaking news, Huma is separating from her Weiner.

This was somewhat predictable. She was staying with him for the child. He exposed the child in a completely inappropriate way. He was gone.

SukieTawdry said...

The Daily Mail has pictures of last night's fundraiser in the Hamptons. Huma went in smiling but didn't come out. And Hillary was wearing that hideous housecoat outfit again.

I kinda thought the first time was just as farcical as the second and, now, third. Tolstoy and Flaubert this ain't. Whatever the reason for this peculiar marriage, it doesn't seem to be working out as arranged.

April Apple,
It's up to the spouses if they want to forgive them or not, not me, not you. I'd say divorce their ass.

rhhardin said...

Staying together would be best for the son, but not for the Huma career, she figures.

I'm really surprised by the commenters here responding as though this were a typical marriage instead of a power merger that went awry because one of the merged entities couldn't stick to the rules. I thought you guys were more sophisticated than that. This was never a normal marriage from day 1, and everyone involved knew it.

MD Greene said...

This all could have been avoided after the first disclosure (ahem) if Huma had insisted that Anthony/Carlos switch to a flip phone without a camera.

"Staying together would be best for the son..."

Staying together would most definitely NOT be best for their son. People here were bashing her for not getting a divorce from the Weiner, now you have rhhardin here saying she should stay in the marriage, weird. When a man is sexting in bed with his son next to him. It's time to get rid of the dick, she should've gotten rid of him long ago.

Still have that 'soft spot', Ann?

@William Disraeli, when younger, wore some extreme outfits that Oscar Wilde later consciously chose to emulate. Disraeli had a succession of private secretaries who were exceedingly handsome young men. Nothing was ever proven but most of his contemporaries assumed he was gay.

I have read at least a dozen biographies of Disraeli. While he was flamboyant in dress and in personality, there is zero evidence he was gay. Neither did 'most of his contemporaries' believe so.

Drudge has that Huma is separating from Weiner, for the benefit of her son. Something like that. I think that she is a very dangerous woman, and at least part of why the Administration went so pro-Muslim, and, in particular part of why we pushed the Muslim Brotherhood into power in Egypt (her parents were closely allied with that organization, as is the journal that her father helped found, and her mother and brothers continue to run). But, it was about time for her to dump Weiner. Leaving him an unemployed house father taking care of their son, so she could jet around the country with Crooked Hillary was just not going to work, long term.

You have to be kidding. He'd be on Skype and/or Google Hang-outs on a PC, tablet or Chromebook in less than a minute. And believe me, he would let it all hang-out.

William said...

@mockturtle: I have only read the Weintraub biography. It was sympathetic to Disraeli, but, iirc, it did indicate that his contemporaries speculated uncharitably about why all his secretaries were such handsome young men. Although nothing has ever been established, this might be more a testament to Disraeli's discretion than to his heterosexuality.........Just curious. Why would you want to read twelve biographies of Disraeli.

damikesc said...

FYI, I'm not defending Wierner's weiner pics of himself, or any woman who stays with her cheating husband. I'm pointing out (to those slow on the uptake), that it's not only Democrats who cheat, of stay with their spouses after they are caught cheating. Mrs. Duggar and Mr.Haley and others (in my list @9:18) are examples of cheating husbands and spouses staying with their cheating husbands.

Dugger is not a candidate for office and Haley committed no infidelity.

Try and do better.

I don't think for a minute that Clinton has no backbone. She stayed with her husband for other reasons in my estimation.

That reason is...?

I mean, besides FEMINISM~!

It's the right that espouses family values, marriage and not getting divorces. Well, they used to anyway.

Not getting pointless ones, no. If you're abused or you've been cheated on, you're a pathetic loser if you stay.

mockturtle said...

Just curious. Why would you want to read twelve biographies of Disraeli.

I began reading about Disraeli when I was in high school. Like Churchill, he was not only an effective Prime Minister and gifted orator but was extraordinarily witty and exceedingly wise. I've always been fascinated by both of these guys and read everything available about them.

He clearly didn't want to be married to Huma but was too weak to leave. Including the child in the photo made it impossible for her to stay.

Valentine Smith said...

Just look in Huma'eyes: darkened and sad. She looks like the poster gal for sexual masochists. Probably not all that uncommon for Muslim women. How else could she remain Clinton's faithful little puppy?

Damikesc, seriously?

Clinton sat through 11 hours of grilling in the Benghazi hearing and made her inquisitors look like fools, you want to think this woman isn't' tough? She's got more balls than many men.

He was married to an older woman which is another reason to think he might have been gay.

"Ambitious, precocious and determined, Disraeli endured remorseless antisemitism to edge his way forward in Victorian society. There are also suggestions he was bullied at school for latent homosexuality, an idea supported by his account of boyhood friendship in his early novels. Like many young Englishmen growing up in the 1820s, Disraeli idolised Byron as poet, style icon, sexual pioneer, freedom fighter and romantic hero. He was also obsessed with his sister, Sarah Disraeli. For this “beloved” he cherished, as he put it, a “pure and perfect love”."

Disraeli is a sympathetic figure, and he got some things right. On most issues, I would give Gladstone the nod, however. Disraeli was witty and clever, but there's an overlay of cynicism that is off putting........Who knew that a discussion of Weiner would lead to a discussion of Disraeli's merits.......Say this in Disraeli's favor: if he was, in fact, a closet homosexual and and managed to be so without causing public scandal, it gives testimony to his discretion and discretion, and that would make him more, not less, of a reliable, trustworthy statesman.

mockturtle said...

By 'public schools', I assume you mean in the British sense. Churchill writes of truly nightmarish experiences when, at the tender age of eight, he was sent away to school. But look at the remarkable survivors of these schools! Some would say genetics are the determinants but I think there are advantages to this kind of rigor [I certainly don't advocate boarding school at eight] in formation of character. Boys today are coddled.

mockturtle said...

William, I admire Gladstone's character as much as I admire Disraeli's wit.

My favorite attributed Disraeli retort:

William Gladstone: You sir, shall either die of hanging, or from the pox.

Benjamin Disraeli: That all depends, sir, whether I embrace your politics or your mistress.

Lying, for her, is easy. The truth tends to be rough. She's a doormat. A woman who has power SOLELY because she conned some hillbilly into marrying her.

She's got more balls than many men.

No man, outside of Obama, could get elected with a record as abysmal as hers. She has the anti-Midas touch.

So, again, why did Hillary remain married to Bill? You said other reasons...what are those reasons?

@mockturtle: I'm saddened to report that the exchange you quoted above is aprochyful. The earliest known citation of the quote is between Samuel Foote and Lord Sandwich. Disraeli, like Churchill and Mark Twain, gets credited for saying a lot of things he never actually said......Here's something Jenny Churchill said about Disraeli: "When I was seated next to Gladstone at dinner, I thought he was the cleverest man in England. When I was seated next to Disraeli, I thought I was the cleverest woman in England."

mockturtle said...

William, I did say 'attributed to'.;-) Whoever said it, I like it. And what about this? When asked the difference between a misfortune and a calamity, Disraeli said:

"The difference between a misfortune and a calamity is this: If Gladstone fell into the Thames, it would be a misfortune. But if someone dragged him out again, that would be a calamity."

I note that after all these years there are at least two women here who are still drawn to the Disraeli mystique. Iirc, Disraeli was on the wrong side of the Corn Laws, Home Rule for Ireland, independence of the Balkan states from Ottoman rule, and extended suffrage for the males of England. Gladstone was on the right side of these issues. Makes no difference. Gladstone had mutton chop whiskers and an unpalatable sex life so no groupies for him.........Maybe that's Weiner's ultimate problem. JFK, Ted Kennedy, and Bill Clinton survived worse scandals with their reputations intact. Maybe Weiner is insufficiently cute to survive a sex scandal. If Weiner looked like Brad Pitt, even Republican women would be saying no big deal about the scandal.

WTF? You think it's some kind of sexual infatuation? I find neither Disraeli nor Churchill at all attractive. I didn't even like Disraeli's politics. He is an interesting person to read about. Politically, I agree that Gladstone was the better man. I have read several books about him, too. He was a Whig, as were most of my ancestors. Nothing NOT to like about Gladstone. If a woman reads about men, it could just be because men are the main shakers and movers of history, not because of some kind of girlish crush.

Also, William. I have read at least as many books about Elizabeth I, who is every bit as interesting as Disraeli.

@mockturtle: Sadly, you don't seem aware of the lusts contained in your own wanton heart. While Disraeli in his later years resembled a blighted horn toad, when younger, he was quite handsome. Plus, he wore yellow velvet pants, which women find nearly irresistible. I have no doubt that you would like nothing more than to sit on his lap and run your fingers through the ringlets of his hair while he read from his latest novel. But I assure you that if you beseech the grace of God and ask for His help in controlling your low, fallen nature, then He will listen and your world may yet be redeemed......I hope my words will help you to find that grace. Now, if you can excuse me, I must go to my room and take care of a private matter.
