When you have an argument with your husband in the car, do you get out of the car? In an animal park? With tigers?

"Surveillance video that circulated widely online showed a woman exit a car, then walk to the other side of the vehicle, where she was attacked a few seconds later by a tiger. As the animal dragged her away, her husband and mother jumped out in an attempt to rescue her. The woman left the car because of an argument with her husband...."

The woman survived, as did the husband. The mother, however, died.

I thought this was something that happens only in movies. The characters are going somewhere in a car and they just have to hop out of the car because of whatever the hell they are talking about. In real life — I've always thought — people just put up with being in the car together and try to get wherever they were going.

The answer is "yes you do," if you are that lady. Anger tends to narrow the focus, often dangerously.

I've been in cars were people have had the car pulled over and gotten out, and I've been in cars where the driver pulled over and kicked a passenger out. At least once it prevented an act of domestic violence.

Looks like the mother got where she was going a little sooner than expected.

I've long believed that stupidity should be painful. Only in this case, the greatest pain was felt by someone trying to come to the aid of the stupid one.

That's a great video. Tigers are fast. I admit it, I love tigers. Fast, graceful, beautiful, powerful killers. The best.

They are usually best enjoyed from a safe place, although we once went to a game park where we played with a baby tiger. A baby. Great stuff. That little dude was strong.

A woman in our city got out of the car during an argument with her husband. It was on a six lane highway with a concrete divide. She ran across the highway, jumped the divide and got hit by an oncoming car. Died. She was an EMS technician. You think she would have known better. Like one of the above commenters said- anger narrows the focus dangerously.

I feel for the poor tigers, presented with an irresistible opportunity and now condemned for, well, being tigers.

My question is, how can anyone be angry when surrounded by tigers? A more appropriate emotion would be awe, or humility, or at least happiness about being INSIDE a car and safe from the tigers.

I was a Paramedic for 5 years. Lots of things happen in real life you think would only happen in movies. Like things with Ringer Washing machines for example.

The country is loaded with people not really very in touch with reality... and what reality there is happens to be filtered through tv or social media... where cars fly off buildings and land perfectly on tractor trailers or other roofs or into other parking garages where the chase continues... people might as well be on medication they are so out of touch. Tigers? What could be real about that? It's just another paid-for experience...

Big cats are opportunists in the wild and in the wild game park, apparently.

Many things you've "always thought" are not so.

Something similar happened to me, but I managed to trick my mother-in-law into getting out of the car without having to endanger the wife. Big cats wouldn't touch her, though, and we eventually let her back in the car. Haven't had much use for big cats ever since.

When I was a teenager, I pissed off my dad so bad he got out of the car in downtown L.A. It's not quite tigers, but still. . .

She got her mother killed, that's going to require her to do some serious rationalization. I expect she will try to blame her husband.

You think getting out of a car in a Tiger Park is tough? Try being Black and getting out of a 1985 Cutlass Ciera surrounded by White Cops...

You think you got Problems? Fuck You.

I am Laslo.

As a kid I would anger my dad enough so that he would try to give me a backhand swat from the front to the back seat. Of course I would be positioned so that his hand would miss me and hit my sister.

Don't judge me. You don't know my sister.

He can now win any argument with her by saying "remember that time you went so batshit you got your mother killed by tigers?" It's really hard to come up with a suitable comeback for that.

The couple later denied fighting. But how do you "save face" when you've already lost it?

Some things cannot be overcome, if he's smart they'll be divorced by the weekend.

Well, that's one way of solving a mother-in-law problem.

The mother in law helping immediately reminded me of the woman who came over to help her friend with the out-of-control chimp. What did she think she could do against a tiger?

I think moms are just wired like that. When our youngest was about 3, she fell into a hotel pool. I immediately knelt down by the side to drag her to the side and help her out of the pool. I think I already had a grip on her when my wife noticed the mishap and jumped into the pool fully clothed.

The husband looked as if he hesitated a bit before pressing his pursuit. He would only have a marginal advantage over his mother in law when compared to the lethality of a tiger. But he is a man and husband, he really had no choice.

Once I stopped a car, got out, and started walking during an argument with my ex. It was in rural Louisiana, though, no chance of harm there.

Inquiring minds want to know whether the driver smeared a pork chop all over his mother in law before helping her out of the car.

I once stopped and got out of a pickup during an argument. And I was the driver. It wasn't a long walk to the destination, I would have been more careful in an animal park. Maybe.

I had a girlfriend in my 20s who told me stories of her mother, who deliberately waited until they were in the car together to criticize her and pick fights with her because then she couldn't get away.

There are just people who love to generate drama.

Yep, it happens in real life. My wife, very early in our marriage (Year One, as I call it), demanded to be let out of the car during an argument. The 27-year-old me pulled over and let her out. Me, today, would never do that, but she, today, wouldn't be stupid enough to demand it in the first place.

My wife did the same early in our courtship. I refused, saying I had brought her out and I would bring her home. She immediately made up and was all lovey-dovey. Some kind of test, perhaps? Women.

Wrong again, Robert Cook. Most of the jokes are quite funny.

The Chinese never had anything like these amusement parks and don't know how to act. I was reading about the Disneyland in China and how the people don't know how to handle the queues. And how they urinate and defecate in public. And break the exhibits for souvenirs to take home. Every night the park needs major repairs.
