"From the references to 'Palestine' at the AIPAC conference (which got Donald jeered) to the justification of the itchy Twitter fingers your fatherinlaw has, you've managed to further prove what so many of us have known for many years. Kudos to you for having gone this far; no one expected this. But for the sake of the family name, which may have no meaning to you but still has meaning to others, please don't invoke our grandparents in vain just so you can sleep better at night. It is self serving and disgusting."

That's a very convoluted sentence...
Apparently Jacob Schulder has exclusive usage rights regarding the family history. I didn't know that was possible.
Pretty sour grapes there...
Did Jacob's dad do the crime?
Then the bitterness seems misplaced.
At least he admits Trump isn't an antisemite.
He should therefore call out those who are using that false charge for political reasons.
Welcome to Hard Ball politics, Jared.Be strong.
This is all very convoluted.
The hate of Trump is very intense.
Wow, that's a pretty major backstory about Jared Kushner's father that I hadn't heard before (agree with the first commenter, Steve- advise clicking the link to read the story.)
It makes Christie's embrace of Trump even more repugnant.
Whoever is on the Palistinian side is wrong. I can't follow the story but know that.
Jews are always the scapegoat when rule doesn't work out, so it happens a lot in the Middle East, where rule never works out because the people there are stupid.
Work it out backwards from there.
Jeepers. He obviously doesn't like Donald Trump, or Jared. He admits that Trump isn't an antisemite. Enough.
I don't think Trump is an antiSemite; I think he's a lying idiot (among other things) with little to no experiences outside his teetering fiefdom of failed development projects, divorces, bankrupted sports leagues, fraudulent 'Universities' and golf courses (and the list keeps going).
Exactly.
The women's interest is tenseness at the Thanksgiving dinners.
"The hate of Trump is very intense."
Yes, but its the usual suspects and a few Republican elites so not to worry, Trump is going to beat Crooked Hillary.
Lost me at "sacred and special."
The hate of Nigel Farage is also very intense in the European Super State these days.
For fun, check out Nigel's speeches to the EU guys collected on a U-tube thread. He gives the Germans and the Spaniards hell. His best line was that people losing their Democratic Nation States did no bother the ruling Belgians much since they never have been a Nation State.
We certainly have a lot of haters in the country these days. Peggy Noonan has a pretty good column today.
Trump is not one of them. Hillary is.

With that parade of horribles he still is morally, ethically superior to the felonious grifter, criminal and traitor. Do note that even the corrupt FBI has certified that Hillary is grossly negligent and unsophisticated and careless.
Funny the cousin who impugns Trump's son in law with the criminal insinuation has seem to overlook that Hillary's son in law's parents also have a criminal background. As for "Palestine" it isn't Trump and the Republican Party whose base includes the BDS movement among other anti-Semitic groups. Advantage to Team Trump.
Something to fix before Linda Greenhouse pounces: I think it was Jacob's parents who helped put Jared's father in prison.
The very first thing a responsible campaign manager should do, I'd think, and I mean the very first thing, would be to take away his father-in-law's Twitter account.
Hillary's campaign would love that.
Trump has 515 subsidiary companies that he owns. Trump has also had more successful companies than just those 515 that he has sold, but let's just use that number anyway. So at most Trump has had around 9 failed or bankrupt businesses, that puts his success rate at 98.3%.
Try again, cubanbob.
I haven't been a Trump supporter, but I am very close to casting a "fuck you" vote for Trump in the face of Democrat Party criminality.

I just heard this morning on CNBC Squawkbox Dan DiMicco, former Nucor Chiarman and CEO, and Trump campaign trade adviser compare Trump to Ronald Reagan. Larry Kudlow likes him too. Tump isn't an idiot.

So Trump is Hillary except his policies didn't kill people or lead to a global
"refugee crisis"?
From the references to 'Palestine' at the AIPAC conference (which got Donald jeered)
Did he support Obama, who was quite fond of Palestine and quite unfond of Israel?
Someone who is hated MORE than Hillary, isn't going to beat Hillary. We chose wrong.
Hatred is the order of the day. Hate all around. Reason and calmness are relics of a bygone age. Today is all about quick blind emotional responses to other quick blind emotional responses within a framework of social media. Rumination is for fools. If you don't react immediately to something in the "correct way", you are to be ignored. And there is nothing worse than being ignored in this new age.
"Someone who is hated MORE than Hillary, isn't going to beat Hillary. We chose wrong."
Record numbers have voted for Trump which is fact, it is just your opinion that Trump is hated more than Hillary. Do not believe the polls because of Political correctness.
"We chose wrong."
Yes, those 11 million stupid voters.
Try again.
From Wikipedia:
Charles Kushner (born May 16, 1954) is an American real estate developer, political fundraiser and philanthropist. In 2005, he was convicted in federal court for making illegal campaign contributions, tax evasion and witness tampering.
Because of his contributions, the building housing Hofstra University School of Law is named in honor of Kushner and his wife Seryl (Stadtmauer). He donated $2.5 million to Harvard University, the alma mater of his sons Jared and Joshua. He is also well known for his charitable donations to Jewish educational institutions. One of the Kushner family's philanthropic ventures was the dedication of Joseph Kushner Building of the Jewish Educational Center in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Kushner's father, Joseph, for whom the building is named, had been a longtime member of the Jewish community and major force in the JEC's early growth.
Kushner also funded the building of the Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy (Pre-K through 8) and the Rae Kushner Yeshiva High School (grades 9-12), two connected Modern Orthodox Jewish institutions located in Livingston, New Jersey, where Kushner resides. The schools are named after his deceased parents, both Holocaust survivors.
Kushner is a major donor to the Democratic Party, most notably to former New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevey.
In 2005, following an investigation by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of New Jersey, Kushner was convicted of making illegal campaign contributions, tax evasion and witness tampering by attempting to silence his sister and brother-in-law by creating a sex tape of his brother-in-law with a prostitute. Chris Christie, then the U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey, negotiated a plea agreement with him and he was sentenced to two years in prison. He has since been released.
It looks like Jared Kushner is "off the reservation" in Cousin Jake's eyes.
It's nice to see people on both sides showing courage and conviction.
Jacob Schulder doesn't even have the last name Kushner.
Jews see antisemitism in Trump's use of a six pointed star (but which was not a Magen David), but not in Democrat backing for Obama's anti-Israel policies. Very strange.
I think a bunch of the descendants of Joe and Rae Kushner should sign up for Sar-El to remind themselves of what's at stake.
It appears the nastiness among the descendants of Joseph and Rae Kushner derives from the McGreevey debacle of 2004. McGreevey was forced to resign the New Jersey governorship in the wake of his appointment of an unqualified foreign national to the post of homeland security advisor who also happened to be McGreevey's homosexual lover.
No true Scotsman
The hatred of Hillary somehow disqualifies an opinion but hatred of Trump elevates it. All bigotry is based on the elevated feeling the bigot gets from their belief in their own superiority.

Don't blame me. Still this year has a 1968 vibe to it so if that turns out to be the case, Hillary who is loathed nearly as much as Trump will probably find out that there is a Silent Majority that isn't taking poll questions and just might be pissed off enough to show up and vote in massive numbers. And if that is the case, they won't be voting for the felonious traitor.
It's not anti-semitism. It's just a family conflict exploited by [class] diversity mongers.
I guess that to Jacob a handful of failed business ventures is vastly worse than a failed war (oops, kinetic military action) in Libya.
Wow. The man loves his invective. Vicious.

I voted for Cruz in the primary but he didn't win. Trump won fair and square. He isn't Hillary and that's enough for me. Since at least the Clinton administration where Democrats were fine with his perjury and obstruction of justice, there isn't a Democrat alive that will get my vote. As bad a Hillary being president in and of itself would be, the thought of her getting to fill the current and future supreme court vacancies makes me willing to crawl on my hands and knees over broken glass to vote for Trump. I don't like him. I don't even trust him very far. But he isn't Hillary and that's good enough.
I'm so tired of hearing the 6 pointed star clipart called a star of david. It was not. It was a six-pointed star.
A star of david is two interlaced triangles WITH THE LINES denoting intersection and individual shapes therein. It's usual colors are denoted in blue, yellow, black - though other colors are used sometimes too.
Trump campaign imagery used a red 6 pointed star that was not at all two interlaced triangles and had no other connection to Judaism than the fact that it was a 6-pointed star. It was put on a portrait of a sells-influence-for-cash politician - who was not jewish.
BDNYC - So I am not really a member of my mother's family because I have a different last name than them? Interesting.
Damikesk - It was Jared's father who went to prison and tried to blackmail his sister (Jacob's mother) with a sex tape. That's Jacob's parents. No wonder he hates Jared.
The pretzels people put themselves into in these threads these days to defend Trump
From the article:
I think he's a lying idiot (among other things) with little to no experiences outside his teetering fiefdom of failed development projects, divorces, bankrupted sports leagues, fraudulent 'Universities' and golf courses (and the list keeps going)
I had to go read the article because I could not, on multiple reads, figure out who put whose father in jail from the post. From the anger it sounds like Jared helped put this guy's father in jail rather than the reverse.
In any event, what are the "bankrupted sports leagues" that he mentions? As far as I can find, trump was involved only in the US Football League. So why the plural?
And, as far as I can tell, while USFL failed and went out of business, and the team owners lost some or all of their investment, I could find no evidence that it went bankrupt in the formal legal sense or in the more informal sense.
I think this guy should just go shut up, sit in a corner somewhere and sulk by himself.
I also ran across an 2012 article in Salon by someone who worked for either USFL or ESPN or the like producing the USFL. He blames the whole failure on Trump. It was all trump's fault that they switched from playing in spring to fall. 35 years later, this asshole is still bitter. Must have been a really cushy job.
Yeah, I get that it may have been his idea but there were 11 other owners and a majority had to agree with Trump.
Forget it Jake. It's Salon.

Steps to an electoral disaster. Six points; one for each point on the Star of David:
STEP ONE: Trump, an inveterate Twitter user, publishes another one in a series of poorly-conceived posts to his account. The advertisement parody could have just as easily used a five, seven, eight or more-pointed "star" clip-art symbol. The Trump wisenheimers choose the six-pointed star. No matter what the intent, the use of a six-pointed star was a mistake. Even if the choice was a deliberate one to mimic a "sheriff's" six-pointed star, the risk of confusion and offense made that choice a mistake.
STEP TWO: The national negative reaction was as swift and as overwhelming as it was predictable.
STEP THREE: Faced with a choice to backtrack, apologize and make the issue a one-day story, Trump screws it up. The message, and the methodology, are all screwed up. Trump's handlers take down the six-pointed star, but not before it is captured in about a billion screen-shots. Trump's handling becomes confused, incompetent. It's clearly some sort of correction. (Why else take it down, and not proudly let it remain as proof of Trump's bona fides, if it isn't a correction?) But then there is no message affirming what they wanted to say. Not a good one, at least. Certainly not a clear one.
STEP FOUR: Faced with a hostile press, Trump doubles down and dares them to question him. Okay, they say, we'll be happy to question you. About your past belligerent and withdrawn Tweets. About your "little short guys in yarmulkes" comment. How much time you got?
STEP FIVE: A one-day story becomes a catalyzing moment in the campaign. It sticks. Trump=Star of David Anti-Semite. With basically no solid information to support the charge, and only campaign malpractice, Trump has hurt himself. Needlessly, carelessly, badly.
STEP SIX: Trump's supporters harden into further support for their guy in the face of an unfair media attack. Trump's opponents find something other than the misdeeds of Hillary Clinton to talk about. Independents and loosely-affiliated low-information voters hear less about an FBI investigation of Hillary Clinton. They hear more about some sort of vague racial/religious animus on the part of Donald Trump. And at a moment of national racial trauma, they begin to fear the name of Donald Trump. Trump wins a small percentage of those voters; he loses many more. And the net effect is that Trump gets an enthusiastic 35-40% of the vote. Just enough to go down to an absolutely historic thrashing in the electoral college. The worst defeat for a presidential candidate in a generation.
"The national Democrat reaction was as swift and as overwhelming as it was predictable."

Michael K if 51.9% of voters turn out to be "Democrats" this November, you are going to be so fucked. I think we all will be.
It is sort of weird to think that just a few short months ago, Trump was heralded as the absolute master of media. He could seize control of the days Narrative simply tweeting. Now reality seems to be dawning on some people, that perhaps Trump's mastery was less actual "mastery" and more about speaking loudly and outrageously.
Trump seems to have a mixed success at best with his messaging. There seems to be a fair amount of confusion and hesitation within his own campaign about 1) How to avoid mistakes and 2) When mistakes are made, how to respond and react to them appropriately without making things even worse and looking like a fool. This is not a good sign.
Chuck, I've decided you're a moby.
For progressive Jews, ideology evidently trumps blood. (No pun intended.) Jared Kushner had every right to defend his father-in-law from the cheesy slander of Democrat race baiters. He also was entitled to tell his family story, even on behalf of a Republican. There was nothing tasteless or insensitive in the telling.
It's easy to guess the party preference of his familial critics, isn't it? BTW, I am still neither a Republican nor a Trumpkin, but I know chickenshit when I see it.
Even so, Trump cannot continue to defend himself against ridiculous accusations regardless of their source. The hexagram controversy is ridiculous.

No, Chuck. you misunderstand the entire founding concept of the United States of America.
It doesn't matter what percentage of voters vote for Crooked Hilary. The only thing that matters is what percentage of states vote for Hilary.
A long time ago I saw a calculation that some large majority of voters could vote for one candidate but, depending on how they were distributed, they could still lose.
I think it might have been as high as 60% of the overall popular vote.
What Trump needs to win is 50.1% of the popular vote in a couple dozen electoral vote heavy states and he becomes President Trump.
A President Trump's AG could then prosecute Crooked Hilary. Comey didn't give her a permanent pass. All that happened was that she will not be prosecuted under this administration. (Probably. Obama could change his mind if she does something to piss him off)
John Henry
Nonopod,
You are assuming that these are mistakes. Some of them are, some of them may only look like mistakes but are done to garner media attention.
Like the star. I still think that was done on purpose to gin up controversy and keep Trump at the top of the news cycle. No way to prove it either way, of course.
John Henry
Now reality seems to be dawning on some people, that perhaps Trump's mastery was less actual "mastery" and more about speaking loudly and outrageously.
You could make that argument. But one of the reasons it isn't happening anymore is because now the media isn't giving him the press he once had. They got their GOP candidate elected precisely because they wanted Hillary to win. If they give him too much exposure now, Hillary is going to look like an idiot compared to Trump.
Well, Hillary IS an idiot compared to Trump. But there are a fair amount of voters who are even bigger idiots than she. Otherwise they would realize that the special kind of stupid email and security "unsophistication" running the State Department (the way it was run by our "smartest woman in the world" Hillary) was a much bigger deal than star clip art choices.
what an asshole (the cousin who has it in for that branch of the family tree)
So John Henry replied to me this way, which is mildly interesting:

So yeah. I get that part about the electoral college. Point taken. Trump needs only 270 electoral votes. And, uh, that 270 number is all that Clinton needs as well. And twice, I think, the national popular vote winner has lost the electoral college.
But get this; all that Hillary Clinton needs to do, do get to 270 is to simply win all of the 18 blue states which have been won by Democratic presidential candidates in every single election since 1988 (totaling 242 electoral votes)... and then win Florida with its 29 electoral votes. Forget Ohio and Virginia and Nevada and any other "battleground" state. Or alternatively, if you wish, talk about ALL of them. Because Trump has to run that table in its entirety.
So you wanna bet even-up on that possibility? Vegas says that I should give you about 4 to 1 odds. Is that what you want?

"Nice family Trump's daughter married into." 7/8/16, 1:41 PM
"Sins of the father" eh. Very enlightened.
"Charlie Kushner, Jared's father and a Manhattan real estate tycoon ... was sent to prison in 2005 for tax evasion, witness tampering and illegal campaign contributions."
So it is likely that Charlie is guilty as hell but Jared is mad at the the cousins and uncle who helped Krispy put his father in jail. Then there is the fight between brothers Charlie and Murray. Murray has donated $130 to Christie's campaign and in turn his law firm has reaped $165 million in the form of tax credits and a state investment in a Murray Kushner project.
And like all others associated with Trump, the only moral question is, "Did he get caught?" That just adds to my dislike for the Trump lifestyle. So what direct business relations did Donald have with Charlie? Well, the guy who went to jail for illegal campaign donations hosted a fund raiser for Donald in 2015 and donated $100,000 to the Make America Great Again PAC. That was after supporting Hillary in prior elections and getting rewarded with a place on the Port Authority Board.
The Kushner brothers fight went to court and Charlie was accused of employing a prostitute to entrap his brother. This sounds like the Clinton's to me. Don't you just hate these elitists? What say the the Trumpsters?
Trump's son-in-law will apparently appropriate anything to further himself. I doubt I've seen a more blatant statement of nepotism than this:
...Kushner and his brother Joshua Kushner were admitted despite modest academic credentials after their father had made a $2.5 million donation to the university,[6][7] with the director of the school's college preparatory program describing Jared Kushner's admission to be "an unusual choice for Harvard to make" given that he was "not anywhere near the top of his class."
Making America great again, all right. For opportunistic schmucks at the top.
" The advertisement parody could have just as easily used a five, seven, eight or more-pointed "star" clip-art symbol. The Trump wisenheimers choose the six-pointed star. No matter what the intent, the use of a six-pointed star was a mistake."
In the early days of this story, it appeared the parody was created by someone on the Trump staff. Later on, it was traced to an Alt-Right fellow who apparently routinely spreads white-supremacist content, and its earliest appearances were on similarly noxious websites. I think Trump was oblivious to the anti-semitic implications, and I hope he or his staff picked it up after it had found its way to a less overtly racist site. The parody's origin makes the intended message pretty clear - that Hillary is a paid puppet of the "Zionists." But it is reasonable to assume that Trump was guilty of ignorance or incompetence rather than malice when he spread it around.
There's a theory for why Trump has been unable to move to a general election strategy despite having assured his supporters he would do so. And that is that Trump absolutely feeds off of the adulation he receives at his rallies. He appears to have a great psychological need for continuous validation. There is a kind of symbiotic relationship there where he gives his stream of consciousness takes on the events of the day and the crowd responses let him know what ideas resonate. He gets the cheers his psyche needs and is able to hone his message. Because the crowd has few traditional Republicans, much less swing voters or Democrats, his honed message remains narrow when a pivot from the fringe would be the smart move. Undoubtedly, his fans are telling him there was nothing wrong with the Hillary ad. Sheriff stars are the same shape (never mind that they also have tiny circles on the points). A "Frozen" book used the same symbol (never mind that snowflakes are six-pointed objects). And so Trump is unable to let it go.
I have spent the last 40 years of my life among Jews. I have never heard of a star of David being called 'sacred.'
Torah, sure.
@ Rhythm ans Balls - Do you think that this is an unusual arrangement? Do you think Princess Chelsea was Stanford and Oxford material? Have you heard the woman speak? ( Of course the currency there was Bill, not dollars) Do you think Ted Kennedy was Harvard quality? Or Al Gore?
And twice, I think, the national popular vote winner has lost the electoral college.
More than that..I believe it's ten times.
In 1820, neither the popular voter leader, or the Electoral College vote leader became president.
Imagine this...Sanders gets in as the Green candidate, Ryan runs as an independent...the finish is Clinton, Trump, Ryan and Sanders.
It gets thrown into the House where Ryan would then run the process of choosing between Clinton, Trump and ....Ryan.
A Mogen David is blue among other things. I don't know what that red thing was.
Gahrie said,
In 1820, neither the popular voter leader, or the Electoral College vote leader became president.
One more point of trivia: up to the election of 1844 (1848?) there were still states that appointed their electors, as is still permitted under the Constitution. The method of selection of electors was, and still is, 100% up to the states.
There was no popular presidential vote in those states.
John Henry
Chuck,
Your proposed bet assumes that Hilary will be the candidate on election day. She likely will but I would not count 100% on it. So what happens to the bet if it is trump vs someone else? Or trump is not there in November and it is Hilary vs someone else?
I think trump, assuming that he gets through the convention OK, will beat Hilary like a rented mule through August, September and October. I suspect he is going to win popular and electoral majorities.
But I am not going to enter a wager with someone I don't know. If I lost you could, in a worst case, come to my house and choke me until I paid up. I have no idea who you are. How would I collect if I won?
So, no on the bet.
